Im a drummer so i dont know this shit lmao, i tried asking what shes gonna play and only heard back that she wants "good distortion" and also played some songs like teen spirit... not alooot to go off but im assuming that she atleast just wants the ability to play your standard metal songs and rock songs! what are the type of things she should be looking out for?

budget is a major factor in this

if she's looking for allround sound, effects, a modelling amp such as the katana 50 mk2 or a catalyst 60 are prette versatile.
the boss tone studio for the katana has a huge effects database.

If the sound of the amp is more important, and it's pretty much clear it's distortion only, she may look at different brands, from marshall to orange etc. They built solid state amps like the orange crush 35rt.

oohhh gotcha

i know shes gonna go to a shop to try some out is there any stuff she could look out for there? or could she literally just try to find the amps listed here and test those

Can't go wrong with a BOSS Katana 50 (250$) imo. It is very versatile for beginners, and will hold you off until you need/want something much more expensive. Ngl unless you want to be a pro or go do some crazy gigs it is all you will ever need

And I second that, if she's looking for versatility and effects, the katana is a great amp. Also comes with an audio interface, if she ever want's to try the audio interface / amp sim route.
