I am thinking to buy a marshall dsl40cr to pair it with a fender strat HH. Is the combo good for metal/rock music ?

I think for hard rock if you want classic distortion you could try the overdrive channel on your Marshall. For a thrash metal tone, I might recommend the Boss HM2 waza. Ask @signal apex about that, they know about thrash

the Rat is much more versatile, the TS1 is kind of a one trick pony with gain control
