So i wanna buy a cheap tele ( either a used fender mim, or new squier, i dont care about the brand, just the playability) and then do something unholy, i wanna put a dimarzio hot rail and a open top neck pickup on it ( like a lollar royal t) to emulate a strat neck pickup, so i can get a combination of all my favourites, a tele body, a humbucker style bridge and a strat neck pickup, but idk if this is a good setup for it, or really which specific pickups to go for?

If you are building a tele, get a Harley Benton TE or Fusion T
I dont really like the lightweight basswood bodies they have
Idk if the poplar is any better tho
why? you know tonewood doesnt exist
so the lighter the guitar the better
As a tone wood believer, poplar and basswood are similar. Also with the higher gain pickups and effects the little bit of difference the wood makes is lost.
yeah even if tonewood exists it really doesnt make a difference
Nah i smash my guitars around a lot so i dont want anything too light, even helps with neck dive, if its gonna have any
It’s not going to have neck dive unless it’s super ligh
And super lgithness comes from actual body design
Such as something as thin as an SG
Or semihollow
Yeah but basswood is still more likely to get damaged
And i like the bellycut on the squier
how?
which options are you considering
Its softer wood
squier, harley benotn, etc?
if ur swapping basically all the electronics, get the HB
with the pickups you are swapping in? no
but they are quality
specially that lollar neck pup
Yeah
