I’m thinking of swapping out the pickups of my ibanez GRG121DX, to something with a bit higher quality. I don’t really mind cutting up parts of it to install them but I was thinking of having a sustaniac neck pickup and some kind of bright lead with the bridge pickup

It’s true that installing Sustainiacs will be very tedious, and if you want a different sound from your pickups then I highly recommend raising and lowering the pickups first. That can have a MASSIVE impact on your tone. So make sure that you try the pickups at every position they can be, like all the way down, alll the way up, and in the middle.
