I saw a guy advertising this as a "60's Teisco" for just 180€ for instance, which makes me wonder how shoddy the quality must be for it to be THAT cheap...
these types guitars aren’t generally great quality to begin with
hardware may be degraded
and cant be replaced
and maintenance is near 0
sad
@final basin also the tuners are likely siezed and/or garbage
Frets are likely worn to shit
true true
Look at FGN guitars, Casio guitars, and other no name brands that youll probably onlky find by digging through forums and reddit posts
Look at older brands made by Fugijen, Matsumoku, such as older Ibanez,Epiphone, Aria, Burney, Hondo, Teisco, Electra, Westone, Univox and many more. Some potentially good bones, but as mentioned above some potential issues too. And once you start sinking money in for repairs, it quickly can exceed the monetary value of the guitar. But learning, fixing, repair, restore can be fun and a rewarding venture in and of itself.
Also another brand is Vantage MIJ lots of those kicking around.
Guyatone
Silvertone too
Honestly just throw "wierd" and other synonyms into Reverb and see what it churns out
Not japanese, but there's an old USSR brand called Jolana you can look at
You should also look at old Soviet pedals 👀
cant find any of those in local spanish listings
this one doesnt look that quirky but it looks neat
i wonder if its any good
Looks okay. Hondo were MIJ, and MIK usually.
"I dont play surf rock, i play Hardcore surf"
“I play the surfboard”
what are some underrated vintage jap guitars that have the extravagant looks but arent neither overpriced nor absolute crap?
Maybe Fernandes?
sounds like a spanish brand
They have lots of MIJ stuff
In fact I think majority is
Plus they do Sustainers 👀
sustainer? like A compressor pedal?
No, like a sustainer pickup
oh
define overpriced
Ibanez?
