#thoughts on 72 seasons?

not bad, i like if darnkness had a son
i feel like the riffs in the album were lacking
and kirk really was the weak link this time
I get they’re getting older but Kirk really disappointed me
the solo on lux æterna was so sloppy, it sounded like they went into the studio, tried something for an hour and went with it
The thing is the band is so successful that there’s almost no pressure to do well, they can put out anything and find commercial success. Kirk has written some great stuff over the years but only if someone lights a fire under his ass to do it
yeah the most famous metal band that even non-metal people know it
its quite annoying
yeah
like it barely tied into the songs
some of the songs were pretty good i thought, i wouldn't call it a fantastic album but not bad
Overall it was a good album It’s nowhere near as good as the good old days back in the 80’s. 72 Seasons title track was terrific, Inamorata closer also great, and other stuff like Darkness Had a Son and Shadows Follow also pretty good.
Darn knees slowin me down
i liked shadows follow
I like it
72 seasons has 2 very solid song (lux aeterna and 72 seasons) but i really dislike the rest of the album
better than hardwired and reload
i like all the songs except lux idk why everyone likes it
Imo I think is has insane production, but the solos were very blah, some sloppy, some bland, some both. But the riff flow was outstanding, but not in their classic 80s thrash style. But if you were to compare this album to other new albums, my pick would be this one
It's also very easy to harmonize each entirety of each song, if that makes any sense
I somehow managed to not hear of this album, but the title track says black sabbath more than metallica, except for the compression which honestly reminds me of St. Anger. I don't mind it tbh. They're basically the 2020 equivalent of 2000s Status Quo - playing the same old stuff but doing it in slightly different ways each time.
72 seasons includes a pretty obvious Enter Sandman reference for the chorus.
Honestly my ears tell me we've returned to the loudness wars. Do not like the production.
Would also argue that kirk has been phoning it for a long time now, but also like there's only so many solos a person has in them before hitting the limits of their imagination, so fair dues. Lux Aeterna gives me more hit the lightsish vibes and I can't complain. The riff is fun if not incredibly complex or imaginative.
It's pretty well worth noting that my gf who isn't a particularly big metallica fan was calling out the breaks, solos and choruses in both of these tracks right as they were about to happen. It's that ingrained in people.
If Darkness had a son feels like a throwback to late 80s ride the lightning era until the vocals start with the glissandoing shit which is fucking great. The Chorus is something entirely different that I can't quite place but feels more like an entirely different band to me. Good track and feels both metallica enough while also earning a place in the metallica playlist in its own right. Please Kirk stop relying on your wah. I don't think the solo was sloppy as such, just oddly syncopated, cause it's always dead on the downbeat or one of the the triplet hits where it feels 'off'. I think it's one of the more interesting things he's done.
Jesus man just say you like it or not or like a few songs not an entire 20 minute youtube script
this is literally how I treat all music, no matter how serious or frivolous lmao. My friends used to hate my hipster ass in the 2010s
I personally like the album
The solos are not bad
But the riffs are pretty good
And I like the harmony in inamorata
I can agree on that
Like they’re not as amazing as like the older albums but they’re not horrible
Metallica solos have never been amazing
They've been either mid or good but never amazing
Eh I guess it’s personal preference for me, I enjoy most of their solos like RTL, Creeping Death, Seek and Destroy and etc
I like the solos with more WAH cause it makes it sound like an F1 car making the song feel faster
Yeah, the enter sandman solo was the first solo I listened to from Metallica, and without a wah, it would probably not sound as good
Yeah it was good
But not my favorite
Yeah after I listened to more of their songs, I didn’t find it as my favourite as well
My favorite solo from Metallica is either moth into the flame or all nightmare long
I haven’t listened to most of the latest albums Metallica has made but that’s my goal
I don’t have a favourite solo for Metallica tho
Ig i have a favourite for each album
Bro why is it your goal to listen to all Metallica albums just go on Spotify type Metallica on the search bar go to their discography and click on an album you haven't listened to
I don’t really like doing that, I usually just have to stumble across a song from the album and then I would get interested in it
Well in that case
I haven’t listened to anything after the black album besides Death Magnetic, Garage Inc and 72 Seasons
St anger is the worst
That’s what people say but I wanna give it a chance
But I’ve listened to St anger
The song
It’s bad
Well the best song from the album is sweet amber
The song some kind of monster from st anger got an edited version without the repetitive lyrics
And without the trash bin drums
I must be the only person alive who likes st anger
Just think of it as not Metallica and it makes more dense
Yeah the albums not that bad tbh
It’s only St Anger which I don’t like
yes they are
i do
Super Boring, album was a whole snorefest
LuLu was a snoozefest lol
