#Most overrated band
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
ur moms mid as hell
KISS
I kinda agree
I feel like the sudden surge in Queen fans is because of the Bohemian Rhapsody biopic
Metallica 💀💀💀
hmm
queen was pretty much the biggest band in the world in the 80s
not exactly "overrated"
While I love pink Floyd it's overrated as hell.
Their popularity in the US was an off and on thing
When the I Want to Break Free music video released in the US, they lost their popularity for a while I think
Then Live Aid came and they became popular again
post-OKC Radiohead, The Bends is one of my fav albums of all time and OK Computer is great as well, but everything after that to me is just Thom Yorke moaning to random piano and synth noises, and I don't get the appeal at all.(edit: a year later I actually like quite a bit of there later stuff, but Bends and OKC is still king)
To answer the question tho, I'm not sure
I'll say Nirvana's pretty overrated but like really only the Nevermind stuff
Smells Like Teen Spirit and Something in the Way are becoming overrated
The Beatles 🤭
i think system of down
Not a band but Joji
ITS SO FUCKIN MID I STG
Every song is him going “I miss you I can’t believe I can’t see you again” “oooooooooOOOHooohOoh”
I miss papa franku 😢
Anything my friend listens to
The real answer
😡
THE BEATLES
Haha u have no Simpson
I don’t like your favorite band so you point out my dog is dead? You’re a shitty person
I'm a Beatles fan but I'm gonna chose to not go on a rant about how they're not actually overrated
😡
my mid romance and the mid Beatles
MCR is great, but beatles are so mid
my chemical below mid
no
thats outta pocket bruh😭
it's discord whatd you expect
u wrong for that fr
emo music is amazing
nah
goofy ah emo music ah sad ah barcode ah
║█║▌║█║▌║
my mid romance
their audience is always some thirteen year old girls with dyed hair
so many good bands, mcr, paramore, old fall out boy, old p!atd, etc
or those stank they them emo boys
the they them girls and they them boys
yucky
yuckie ☹️🤢
i went to an mcr concert and everyone there was some fat emo girl or an emo guy with purple hair
i hate when people call themselves they/them
u either man or woman
facts
they them is just like why
I don't hate it, it's just useless
I do hate those neo pronouns though
hats even worse
you're not mature if u call urself glitch/glitch self I've never seen a grown person have that it's literally a phase
all of them are under thirty
yeah
i'm not an emo but i still like some of the emo bands
but i hate when someones like "im 14, my pronouns are:
zglyglgly/hdjbjd
im depressed"
the beatles
The Beatles I feel like are absolute game changers of music, but I don't think that should mean everyone has to like them
That being said I do feel like Sgt Pepper's is a bit overrated
fair enough
she left the server 💀
they have a few good song's but I agree, its mostly serj screaming, "dfhadyuabnfeiyeshnfiujdfiuahdayuitacactacacacaca"
His solo career is pretty good though
bruh☠️☠️☠️☠️
xD
I can understand it being a game changer and all, but honestly it's a pretty boring album
Yeah I agree
It's got some awesome songs but it gets boring
Revolver is awesome though
Emo music is actually so annoying
It's so whiny
Wah wah I want to die wah wah
I agree
Revolver is better
Best Beatles album imo
Metallica
No it is5
It's literally not even that
Anything with core at the end of it, except Grindcore.
Though Napalm Death is pretty overrated, Bolt Thrower made the better Deathgrind band.
And my token overrated Death Metal band goes to... Blood Incantation
dfajuusdjdjejkefjklfdskj 🤣 excatly right
Beatles
ahuifsdghiuyeiughuief
-system of down-
band "Xlsplafizxjvzpsf,msxvnja"
the beatles
The beatles: a properly rated band that I just specifically dislike, mostly because I don't understand how someone could like the song Hey Jude. It's just so damn repetitive lmao
But my actual answer would be Metallica, everything post the black album was just awful imo. Like they had a great 5 album run, then the rest of their stuff just seems like they're coasting off of ideas that they had back in the late 80s
That's fair enough tbh. I'm a fan of Hey Jude but I can understand how the "Nahhh nahh nahh" part gets annoying
I feel like when most non-Beatles fans think of the Beatles, they'll think of like their earlier works or like their later works when they were being more pop-friendly
But I recommend checking out their middle era if you haven't, Rubber Soul and Revolver area
That's fine, I feel like that is the one thing about the Beatles: it just doesn't fit most people's tastes
The Beatles can be respected but I don't think that means everyone HAS to be a Beatles fan
metallica, the beatles, pink floyd…
Arch enemy
[insert your favorite bands name]
😱
Guns N Roses
ong
nirvana overrated
kiss overrated
the Beatles overrated
slipknit overrated
system of a down overrated
Early exodus is kinda overrated
I actually gave all of them 0/10 so they are underrated again😎🤘
If people widely consider these bands overrated
Shouldn't that mean they're actually underrated?
Reminds me of "If life is unfair to everyone, doesn't that mean life is actually fair"
Coldplay, oasis, rhcp... Every famous pop band
Eric Clapton
Weezer
<Insert Buddy Holly lick>
If you're talking about radio soad then yeah, but alot of the songs that stations never picked up are AMAZING(check out dreaming, know, and kill rock n roll)
Juice wrld is def overrated
like rip but its just emo over trap beats
but i guess thats just rap in general rn
rap music is garbage
alot of newer stuff, in my opinion, is utterly unlistenable but stuff like quest, wutang, and other older rap groups are really cool
nah
99% of mainstream music sucks
but
theres still good bands keeping old music alive
like who
alot of bands today are just as good as those from before its just that they are overshadowed
i mean red hot chili peppers for one
i don't like rhcp at all
i mean thats ur choice
but still alot of newer bands suck
i think its cause everythings been done before and people lack creativity
thats what made music from the 50s+ more impactful
since there was new technology
but now its just too easy to make music
everyone can make music but not everyone can make their music world wide which is what seperates our generation from the one before
I agree with you here
Not a big fan of newer rap
But I do like older rap because the backing tracks were good
lol yeah
...........
Arctic Monkeys
Alice in chains is still good today imo
yeah alot of bands from before the 2000s are still great
Queen, I feel like acdc is over played
I respect AC/DC a lot, but yeah some of their songs are so overplayed
Queen, I feel like they are rightly rated in the music world
I mean after all, Killer Queen and Stone Cold Crazy were released on the same album
I feel like Coldplay is kinda overrated. Also, Blink 182..I don't find Blink's songs to be musically too interesting either.
I still think weezer
the beatles, they put me to sleep
Paramore
Yes but legends tho
tool is overrated
I respect them for pioneering rock but their music is really not to my taste
Jojo shit mate
?
megadeth
Yes same actually
nirvana
Prince
any band ozzy sings in
Fr
Black sabbath...
oh you mean jjust ozzy
yea
how is paramore overrated
the beatles
Properly rated band, but also not a lot of people's style (especially younger people)
Including me, I don't really like the beatles, but their influence is undenyable
yeah thats fair
Metallica is seriously overrated
They've done a lot for rock so I think they are rated just fine. Plus, the guys that are still alive are still putting music out there which is kinda crazy
I agree, post and justice for all is all mid as fuck
Its mostly their newer shit thats just so meh. I can respect Ride the Lightning and their classics.
Not true
Turner is one of the best lyricists ever
The music I could understand being overrated but I mean I like it
Guns and roses made some good music in their prime. But Axl rose is an arsehole and lost his voice years ago
Deathcab For Cutie
can you justify why you think they're overrated
https://open.spotify.com/track/77vYwoC7e3pVoPq8BA9CuL?si=e574090ed3794bf3 I guess they they have one good song but that's really it
Lux Aeterna just sounds like a B-side from Master of Puppets
or something like that
but not bad for a bunch of 60 yr olds
Lucky Aeterna sounds like a parody song that somebody like Stevie t would make for Metallica
Lux Aeterna* I mean
lmao
And sure it’s decent for a bunch of boomers but even the beetles (or what’s left of them) is dropping solid songs
like the intro to lux sounds promising but it downfalls from there
The song is just so underwhelming
I don't think the remaining beatles have released new music but you have a point there
They’ve done colabs
the guitar solo is just typical kirk hammit, nothing exciting about that
*Hammett
Oh wait I just realized Ringo is still dropping brand new songs
And they’re decent too
Yep
lmfao
Also megadeth has some cool new stuff
I’m stilll blown away by “We’ll be back” and I don’t even like their band that much
Like the solo is actually really solid
Idk I bring up Megadeth a lot when I talk about Metallica’s lame return
@fresh bramble
oh yea
I'll check that song out
Official video for Megadeth's “We’ll Be Back” – Chapter One of a Trilogy – from their new album The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! Now available everywhere: https://megadeth.lnk.to/SickDyingDeadID

Dave mustaine isn't a bad guitar lplayer considering he had to relearn guitar after he got surgery
And he still is better than Kirk
lmao yes
well in terms of rhythm playing yes
not sure abt soloing tho
YeEeHAUhYEEAEAEAEAEAHHHH
@lofty tiger Although I do appreciate Metallica's performance with that Orchestra or whatever
although ticket prices are like $7000 I'm not paying that to see a sloppy kirk hammett solo
WTF 7000???
Most solid live metal shows (especially with more obscure but solid bands) that I've seen are still like 50 bucks
Rammstein
wow
I mean, whitechapel was recently selling tickets for 30 bucks(although prices have skyrocketted due to being sold out)
They're like 150 bucks from 3rd party dealers but still
Killswitch engage is selling from 66.99-119.99 each
wow
that's cheap
Although I wa referring to the top "package" as they call it. Where you can have a custom area up front for viewing the Concert, with beverages and a cooler
that's not bad, but $7000!?
Nah thats still BS cus you know its gonna be super full
It kinda gets rid of the whole point of VIP when those tickets get sold out anyways
true
just sounds like generic car commercial music
True
But It's true tho
Muse is alright. I wouldn't consider them "overrated" as nobody ever brings them up and they aren't that popular.
They are kinda mid though
Saying Muse is overrated is like saying The Jonas Brothers is overrated.
people aren't gonna like this one but... 3 days grace the lyrics make me feel like an edgy 13 year old who got told no for the first time
Old muse is golden, past the 3rd album it's overrated
I am people.
Lmao I am so sorry
I saw a video on tiktok talking about the band before and after Adam Gontier and all the comments were talking about how everybody loves the band so I don't even know
They do have a few memorable songs, but not really a great band or anything, just known for a couple of hits
Nirvana
Nah he didnt say that to kurt
He's rolling in his grave
they are more then overrated
No theyre perfectly rated
they are trash
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THEY CHANGED MUSIC FOREVER YOU PROBABLY LISTEN TO POST MALONE OR SOME SHITTY GUITARIST WHO CAN PLAY 4 CHORDS!!!!😡😡😡
I listen to the beatles
eric clapton
jimi hendrix
doors
huey lewis
and more
🫵😂and you think nirvana is trash
I listen to the Beatles to sleep theyre so boring
Not early beatles
Kurt died dude “oh Jimi Hendrix made some decent songs and just disappeared”😒😒😒
Yes
no i mean
before he died
the band kind of
left the top 10s
and shit
and then he died a bit after
ni
Cause all the Beatles songs were on top 10
A lot of them were but not all
more then nirvanas
Ok nirvana has better songs
absolutely not
You prolly listen to Christian bands
"Hello low albino
low hello
hello low
albino"
🫵😂
garabge
fuckk no
its trash lyrics
Yeah the better than the Beatles tho
absolutely not
Absolutely yes
absolutely not
they revolutionized music
kurt cobain was inspired a lot by the beatles
best kurt song was a covee of the beatles
So did nirvana but even more
Yeah but he still better
Oh like what?
ten years latee
we have fucking
rap
all over the plave
and dua lipa
and swift
all shit
🤮🤮🤮
beatles at least kept rock going forever
exactly
its trash
they did nothing
nirvana didnt revolutionize anything
if they did dua lipa wouldn't be popular
or doja cat
or swift
or the nazi rapper
Wouldn’t call the Beatles rock
any thay shit
they're more rock then anything today
and plus
they made metal
and so much more
Oh so the Beatles “here comes the sun naananannaanan” is rock
im talking about
early beatles
fuck here comes the sub
sun
Fax
Yeah ok that’s kinda cool
later beatles was just lsd
yes
late beatles is trash
early beatles are better
BUT NIRVANA ISNT TRASH
Name them
heart shaped box and lithum
And smells like teen spirit
trash song writing
but
tbf
it did change the 90s
rock
Yes
for five years
No
just about
then Brittany spears and shit
rap
all that
hit charts
kurt killed him self
etc
Are you making fun of him taking suicide
no
Ok
Yes if he didn’t this new shitty music would have come 5 yrs earlier
yes
if rap and pop didnt come out
and shit
he would of changed a lot
Yes it’s not his fault
yes
But they’re not trash
but he didnt change the world
Neither did the Beatles so
they absolutely fid
did
they did wayy more then nirvana
Can we just agree that both is good I don’t wanna have this convo no more
*early Beatles *
yes
bye
Honestly, they'd probably be one of the greatest bands ever if it wasnt for kiedes
I honestly wouldn't consider Kurt's writing bad as he ended up creating a perfect formula for his genre and for gaining popularity. Its just, really repetitive which many people enjoy. I'm a progressive metal guy so its just not my cup of tea @warm iron
Yeah his vocals on most of their songs just put me off. Instrumentally I think they’re great
absolutely
Megadef
so true, you should watch the pat Finnerty video on dani California
almost every band i saw skimming thru this has great ideas
i cant think of any. im gonna say rob zombie cuz i think john 5 is overrated
David Bowie
That's literally the idea of the band, it's intentionally campy/ironic
imagine dragons
Couldnt be more true
They're not bad and they are basically guitar gods but their songs are becoming overplayed
Just scroll guitar Instagram lmao if you don't believe me
Its like the same 2 or 3 songs that you see people covering
There's definitely soul to it. Just because its modern and has a lot of production behind it doesn't mean there's no "soul". You look at bands like AAL where theres the same arguments but they have plenty of music that convey emotion and feel. Tosin himself said that one of his songs was supposed to convey anxiety in that most of the notes are in the major scale but some are purposely "off" to make it sound uneasy(I forgot which song, I'd have to look).
What clones though
I'm not overly aware of math rock being that big of a deal
They’re so overrated and this is coming from a guy in Seattle
Arguably the worst of the big grunge bands
Wait wtf Post Malone is actually pretty good at guitar lol
Yeah he's pretty good
Seems cool too
Idk why the guy was hating
isnt post malone a flashier player than kurt
nirvana deserves a lot of credit cuz they like were in the perfect place and time when metal was falling out of fashion
i got an answer tho for overrated band
whatever band lil wayne is in when they give him a guitar
prepare for some CRINGE
Music video by Kevin Rudolf performing Let It Rock. YouTube view counts pre-VEVO: 22,655,556. (C) 2008 Cash Money Records Inc.
#KevinRudolf #LetItRock #Vevo #Pop #OfficialMusicVideo
I like how they burry his "guitaristry" under a whole bunch of synths and whatnot to cover up how trash he was.
wdym u think they put a bunch of synths over his music to cover bad guitar?
post is like average. 80 percent of us will probably play cliffs of dover at the same level he can. which is like...knowing the notes and playing sloppy
hes not trying to be a pro guitarist tho he got bigger ambitions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUllRwiCEOU&ab_channel=dawnofthecost
I was referring to the lil wayne video @agile coyote
Also on the topic of Post Malone, he still plays that riff better than a majority of players even considering he's at like 75% speed.
ooh my bad
yea lil wayne playing guitar live is a meme lol
Id say that qualifies him as better than kurt
But if he went through the effort of learning that whole bit idk why he just didn't go the one extra step and play I at speed
Oh, I see you're referring to Kurt with the latter
Yes
As in shitty guitarist that could only play 4 chords in all honesty, I think nirvana is good, slightly overrated though, 2nd best grunge band
Well tied for 2nd. #1 being Alice in Chains, then you can argue soundgarden or nirvana for the #2 spot
listen to helter skelter
the beatles revolutionize pop and rock forever... nirvana created grunge which died 10 years later
their last album is probably the most "rock-y" album they made
gonna have to say The Stone Temple Pilots is the best
ong
bro coldplay sucks so much
anything after 2003 i would say sucks
are you referring to rap or all genres
ngl red hot chilli peppers kinda peaked around 2006 with stadium arcadium id argue that music after 2010 is when it kinda died for me
Plus live performances were hit or miss
Rolling Stones overrated af
Easier to find overrated songs than overrated bands
Arch enemy
🤬
The eagles...
green day is below mid and overrated
Technical ability, maybe. Songwriting skills, they’re pretty darn good
Dude these guys are actually insane. I mean sure, many of their songs feel overplayed now but they're kinda in the same boat as Led Zeppelin where their good songs kinda lose credit from people cus they heard it so much.
I mean, Hotel California has so many layers to the song. I just recently delved deep into it as my school band is gonna play it and its soooo much more technical than any other classic rock and jazz song we've played.
Ok, Hotel California is a great song. Tbh I haven’t listened to a ton of The Eagles. The little bit that I have heard always left me a little underwhelmed. I’m sure if I dove into their catalog, id appreciate them more
Honestly the most true overrated band I can think of rn are Deftones.
Ong
I want to do bad things to you
Do you even music bro
how do their funk grooves not impress you
what song did you listen to
All of them?
They have a wide range of different sounding stuff
soul to squeeze, under the bridge, snow
I literally hate all the songs from them that I have heard
Snow blows
Say oh?
Come on man
How about scar tissue?
Not good
Worst offender has to be dani California tho
You can say it.

i agree dani california is one of their worst but its still really catchy
...Green Day
No it's Deftones
deftones are way overrated for some reason it recently became a trend on tiktok
Wouldn't say they're overrated, just recently got a surge of popularity for no apparent reason
They kinda are right now
Cause of the many kids who just discovered them and thats the only emo/metal band they know
Oasis I guess
Ok mettalica seems overated but it's not its like the beetles people say there overrated but they are also not that overrated they deserve their popularity
Idk, I think oasis is punished because of the Wonderwall, but their songs are great. Can't say that about Metallica, their songs are good, but really nothing hooking. Too many people say "best band ever", like. It's not
Good but not THAT goof
Mettalica ain't the best but their not overated
I don’t care for Anthony Keidis or his voice but RHCP is objectively a solid band.
Metallica is just a solid all around listen hahaha. Not overrated or underrated, they’re about as popular as every other big rock/metal band. Nice and fairly accessible and never really mind blowing, but I’ll never skip or turn the station if their song plays.
RHCP is literally middle aged mom music
@lofty tiger Moms like to dance, therefore if they like RHCP, then RHCP can cop a groove haha
Honestly everything past the black album has been either mediocre or straight trash
Too many times have I heard the same few RHCP songs on every car ride with a friend
Yeah, that gets old. I always find their stuff is best in moderation
Every once in a while it’s fun to jam out to, the instruments are more often than not pretty good
I listen to this from them
I was referring to metallica lol
Feeling awfully snarky today, so I’ll comment on this. Not all their discography based around funk or funk rock, and just like pretty much every genre of music there are multiple styles and ways to play it.
Best songs I listen to were produced back then in 90s, 00s
There are a couple songs off of death magnetic which are pretty dope, like cyanide and All nightmare long
Hahahaha
Just listen to Disturbed, hehe
Buttrock!
Hah!
Yeah kind of that late 90’s-early 2000’s jank metal/rock
It’s easy to diss but tough to hate
I mean the best band ever is super subjective. I enjoy thrash metal above all other genres of music I've heard, and they basically invented it, and extremely well in my opinion so i consider it the best band.
No, not true.
Eh, I could disagree
BTS and most any mainstream artists I know of are overrated
The Beatles are too, but their music actually sounds good
The Beatles' praise isn't just for their music but because of their impact on rock as a whole
They're not just known for their music
BTS , trashiest music only famous for how they look and how they dance . No music knowledge in general.
Rainier Fog is really the only Alice in Chains album that I could somewhat label as bad
most over rated band is any of those 2000's bands thats last few albums have been terrible
so like fall out boy
or panic! at the disco
but ultimate spot probably goes to the beatles
their music is just kinda boring
kiss, gnr, acdc, queen
FR
I don't count anything past Layne's death as alice in chains
guns and roses is overrated
It's only popular because of that iconic intro to sweet child o mine and also slash making appearances everywhere for no fcking reason
black gives way to blue is a solid record
Fr
queen gnr and the beatles
Queen deserves the attention, it had just as much influence as the beatles imo
GnR is definitely right though, that band is way too overrated
I think that the beatles had a huge influence and ppl love em
but
their music is not my cup of tea
I prefer queen honestly
Skillet
bts
They probably don’t know what an instrument is
Korn, RA TA TA UMMM BARA BARA RA AT AT AT AT AT UMMMMMMMMMM SCRAPAPATAPTPAT
Theri phsychadelic work is on pink floyd level bro
fr tho
rap
rhcp's fire but kiedes is trash
Can't really have one without the other tho
Metallica.. super overrated
thats just wrong
His voice is so unique and fits to band so well
I think the reason rap got so popular is because anyone can do it too, anyone can go and rap to some basic beat, but not everyone has the skill to pick up a guitar and play some music or an instrument
He sounds like an Asian grandma reading a groceries list
But if it's what the band needs
i dont want to offend anyone, but Pink Floyd is overrated
wrong!!!!
I saw them live last year and they were very good
Metallica
metallica
L take
listen to day6
they're not the typical femboy looking kpop band with zero music knowledge
Greta van fleet
bet
ill admit theyre pretty good
i liked shoot me
listen to zombie eng. ver
no way you just said nirvana
I can maybe get the beatles and queen but not nirvana
You mean dollar store fusion of Rush/Led Zeppelin? Lol
yes
hell no
they are amazing, they just have a childish following
if you listened to anything more then smells like teen spirit you wouldnt say nirvana
keep yourself safe
I didn’t say they weren’t good, just overrated. Also don’t get mad when someone doesn’t like a thing you like
Like bro, it’s just taste
Nirvana is definitely overrated
They're a good band, people act like they're the best band of the 90s, when they're probably the 3rd or 4th best band within their subgenre
Eric Clapton
AC/DC
Guns N’ Roses
Led Zeppelin
I know they're not super highly rated anymore, but I always just found Cheap Trick's music to be boring
Linkin Park's In the end is overrated as fuck tbh
Like many anthems
Just an efficient song at the right time
We will rock you style
Wdym by "efficient" ?
Catchy
wtf
wtf is wrong with you
watch yo mouth homie
im boutta throw some hands
you clearly never listened to much nirvana
stfu acting like nirvanas good
have you ever listened to a full album from them?
theres more to nirvana than smells like teen spirit
A good band can also be overrated, nirvana is a case of being both
hmm yeah kinda
Agreed
Its one of those were its a really good band but kinda overrated. Now they deserve their status for mixing alot blues into hard rock and had very good simple solos.
The Beatles by a lot, but Queen is another good pick
Metallica.
Imagine writing your best song at 16 and never writing or releasing anything decent again after the age of 25, but making sure to con and defame your fanbase pre scalping your own tickets for the next 35 years while destroying free internet music sharing for a decade.
Most of the music I've heard from them is just annoying tbh. The singer sounds really whiney. Obviously there's some good songs from them but definitely not enough to not be called overated.
Whatever the main guy is idk
I don't mean to insult you if you like them btw. Just what i think.
Wich band was he talking about ? he deleted his message
Beatles
Huh thx
I'd say that they're not "good", they were innovative and they played something that had never been played, but this was not good, it was just new af
AC/DC and The Beatles are overrated but thats just me lol
agreed 💯
pink floyd (jk)
for my entire life, I thought PF was overrated af, i hated them, (I've had never listened to pink floyd), but recently I'l gave'em a try, and it's actually really awesome
any songs suggestions from them?
It's popular songs, but Time is great, Confortably Numb, ( and basically the whole TDSOTM record)
Although i find Another brick in the wall to be one of the worst song I've ever heard
yes. Kiss is so overrated
Y’all be acting like overrated means bad lol
Yea that's the bad part
Jk jk
ok guys
i am sorry for what i said about nirvana
i got there first album
on cassette
shit slaps
there are no overrated bands
i can't really tell the difference between oasis and blur
@zenith pebble

Goddamn so many Beatles haters coming out
Literally most bands are overrated lol
to each their own ig
yea sure mate
every band except mine >:(
Yeah
Many bands get millions of listeners every month yet so many better bands get like not even 10k a month
I have like 1k songs on my Spotify, and I have pretty much every band but only a couple to a few songs from each of them.
Rolling Stones are my favorite band because they have the most good songs, but so many songs from their albums are just mid
Sticky fingers for sure is their best album tho, only 1-2 skips but it depends on the day if I skip them
Lol
pink floyd
Care to explain?
I may not be the biggest fan, sure some of there songs are good and David Gilmore is cool.. but overrated is crazy to me
i stated earlier that no band is overrated, and then i remembered that people actually listen to Michael Learns To Rock
who
pysedelic is garbage
besides doors
ig
Interesting
Queen is massively overrated
Buddy you just declared war on like everyone
no
queen is a huge W
exactly
ngl queen IS overrated but only like the famous songs
yeah like bohemian rhapsody nobody truly appreciates the way it was meant to be appreciated
yeah
everyone just stans them cos that 1 song was a hit
i'm like a hardcore fan
yeah
lmao a good fan
good old-fashioned lover boy
brighton rock
now i'm here
in the lap of the gods
seven seas of rhye
keep yourself alive
great king rat
death on two legs
sleeping on the sidewalk
'39
my fairy king
yea lol
Tie Your Mother Down is just one song I like
music wise it's hard to see where the universal recognition for nirvana comes from
it's good music but it's def not the kind that'll appeal to just anyone
i think their popularity was propelled more by kurt and what happened to him than just the music
Yup, you basically just summarized it
It's gotten to the point where Nirvana = Kurt Cobain only apparently
At least to people who aren't mega fans
what about THE drummer dave grohl
such an amazing drummer
who can also sing and play guitar
and write songs
fucking legend
Dave Grohl was in Nirvana? (joke)
lol
for me 90% of what i think of nirvana is dave grohl
only then kurt
Krist is also underrated
who? (not a joke)
The bassist
ight
oh shit youre right
fuck i found a song to cover with my band
thank you good sir
love it
You're welcome 😃
people calling the beatles overrated haven't heard of norwegian wood
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) - Remastered 2009
By The Beatles | Rubber Soul (Remastered)
Insecticide is criminally underrated
coming from a Nirvana hater
I think people call the Beatles overrated cause the only stuff they’ve heard about is their Beatlemania era stuff + Abbey Road and Let It Be
And when they hear that they think that it’s too soft and boy band ish and stuff
But they haven’t listened to their peak area stuff (Rubber Soul- Sgt Peppers)
i think the beatles are a perfectly mediocre band but i don't think they're particularly overrated... at least not in the modern day
I feel like so far (mostly) everybody who's said a band has provided absolutely no real reason as to why they overrated other than "mid" "mediocre" which is absolutely not an argument 😅
I mean it’s just their opinion
Some opinions don’t really need any explanations, it’s just how people feel
like I haven't left my beatles phase in 6 years but I guess I can see why people don't like them
they are literally everywhere still
Thing is, the stuff that always gets shown by them is the Beatlemania pop song stuff
Or Abbey Road or Let It Be
So people probably just assume that's all they are
Or Idk
Abbey road was really good tbf but it's always only come together, something, and here comes the sun revolver and sgt pepper's were too different at the time for them to become mainstream pop hits
Deftones
Norwegian wood is a good song btw
But have you listened to the Anthology 2 version
The entirety of revolver
Revolver is such a good album
I feel like people who say that the Beatles are too tame and soft and too boy band ish need to listen to Revolver
And sgt peppers
And magical mystery tour
just listen to them before making an opinion
The problem is that the pop friendly and boy bandish stuff is their most popular stuff so Rubber Soul to Magical Mystery Tour stuff gets heavily overlooked
Honestly I tell people to avoid their early stuff
If you want to listen to rock and roll, listen to 50s stuff
Every artist before them did what they were doing but better
Yeah
indeed
big long now is my fav nirvana song
nope
yer blues is incredible
The Anthology 2 version of Norwegian Wood is more trippy
People often forget the entirety of the Beatles catalog was written before any of them turned 30. They were just kids for their entire existence.
this
also idk i hear more people saying the beatles are overrated these days than fairly rated? haha
i think they’re fairly rated. their catalogue is pretty damn diverse for the short time they were together after leaving behind that typical “british invasion boy band” sound. and they have some incredibly creative songs in that time
And their whole catalog was written before they turned 30
Oasis
false
The problem is that the British Invasion boy band songs are all they’re known for by non fans
Cause it’s the only songs that are actually fit for the mainstream
beatles
deadtones
true
Amen to that!! Hot garbage!!
beatles
some slipknot songs are exceptional
I gotta wonder why people in here think the Beatles are overrated
Fr
Nobody mentioned Kiss yet?? They may be at the top of the pile!
I think everyone hates KISS after what's happened with that bassist of theirs
W
Honestly I like Polyphia just cuz the sounds are all over the place, they’re like melodic sound effects
Idk I don’t think any are overrated
If you give me a band that you think is overrated, I’ll either point out 5 songs that I really like or I just haven’t listened to their music much
Whatd the bassist do
gene simmons?
Yup
A lot
But basically he’s a greedy scumbag who’s basically trying to act like KISS basically invented and financially own all of rock/metal music
Like he tried to argue that KISS created the 🤘 symbol
Wrong bro but your opinion is yours
what specifically did simmons do?
Dio did
I think the Beatles can both be the greatest band ever and overrated. Those don't have to be exclusive. We do give the Beatles a ton of leeway in the name of being experimental. Which is great, we should give all bands that leeway. But when the Beatles wrote a kind of mediocre song but tried, for the most part people still acted like it was tremendous, or a noble effort for daring to push music in a new direction, and that's where I think we go too far. John Lennon was an asshole, Ringo was a bad drummer, the Beatles arguably had more truly meh songs than truly great ones, just that the great highly overpowers the meh. When you act like a band walks on water, it's very hard to say they also met that expectation and thus are 'rated fairly'
Like, for a 5 star record, the back half of Sgt Peppers is pretty bad until A Day In The Life?
Flip side, the front half of Magical Mystery Tour, more or less awful until I Am The Walrus.
No one is every like, man. Blue Jay Way is my jam.
yeah that’s me
Look it up in your own time, but he’s basically making all these claims that makes it sound like he legally owns the rights to all of rock/metal
I guess that’s a fair explanation yeah
a7x
Bro didn't just call Ringo a bad drummer
He sure did, fite me bruh
Cause I don't even mean in a dickish 'Not even the best drummer in the Beatles' kind of way, he was just very unspectacular at his job
i really dont get the buzz with coldplay or radiohead, i mean i guess the experimental stuff is kinda cool in radiohead but im puzzled to whats so interesting about them, kinda seems like they pretend to be "smart music" or something and they have an audience that falls for it
same with Tool with the "smart music" thing
If you applied that with all of prog rock/metal, you’d piss off the entire prog community
I don't know that those are the same comparison. They both started in similar places, but Coldplay has turned their experimental up to 3 and Radiohead has turned it up to 7.
i actually confuse coldplay and radiohead all the time because i never listen to either and in my head they're connected for some reason LOL
Dunno what to say about prog rock, i know many songs that are cool but a lot of it is repetitive and boring from the little i know about it
That being said, Ok Computer is a perfect record, Kid A and Amnesiac were damn good in that same Beatlesy way I was mentioning above. Like, it's great when bands push the boundaries, and when they don't quite make it but try hard, you love to see it. Neither are the 5 star record a lot of people think they are, but I've heard, like, SO MANY worse opinions about music
is animals as leaders prog rock? they are cool i think
I think the 'right' Radiohead songs would appeal
Coldplay was kind of expected to be the 'next' Radiohead circa 2000 when Radiohead got super weird and Coldplay was hot off of Parachutes and Rush of Blood
Listen. To. Abbey. Road.
Yeah man trust me I’ve listened to abbey road thousands of times lol
Then listen to ringos drumming on it
It's phenomenal
Is it though? Come Together is more iconic than phenomenal
Maxwells silver hammer is all in the pocket, most of the contributions to the medley aren’t drum heavy. Like carry that weight is just basic four down
What about the medley? The drum solo on "The End" what about "Rain" "Tomorrow Never Knows" "Ticket To Ride"
It’s perfectly fine drumming but when you compare him to his contemporaries like Keith moon or John bonham then you’re like. Oh yeah. THOSE cats could play drums
I wouldn’t trust prime ringo Starr to sit in on a set on a moments notice. I don’t think he’s that good
In comparison, sure. You could definitely say they are better a lot of the times
But that doesn't make him a bad drummer
All 3 members have said he was always in time
It definitively makes him not a great one though, and when we’re talking about how people view the Beatles, being not one of the greats might as well be bad
Also all of his songs sucked lol
It was always the worst part of a Beatles album
not all
Octopus's Garden was good
It was the best of all of them. I still hate it so much
But it’s just. Objectively worlds ahead of the other ones
I think there was worse than "Don't Pass Me By" on the White album
Why Don’t We Do It In The Road sucked pretty hard but that was macca for sure
(First of all I like that song but I can see why you might not) and Second of all
There was MUCH worse than that on the White album
I did a count yesterday and I think there were only six songs I really couldn’t stand on the white album, which is like. As many as sgt peppers
Oh, Bungalow Bill is the worst. Maybe the worst song the Beatles ever did
Again, disagree
When wild honey pie exists
Wild@honey pie was absolutely one of the six
At this point I’m struggling to remember cause I don’t want to put down my guitar but. I’ll get there
Well what my main thing I was getting at is
You would be shooting yourself in the foot if you passed up a chance to play with ringo
Piggies
Piggies is pretty bad
The… worst? Harrison Beatles song?
That can’t be right
Maybe? Blue jay way is pretty repetitive
I like how George made 102 takes of "Not Guilty" and ended up not putting it on the album
Yeah that’s an ethic I can respect, especially from a band who, based in their schedule, released EVERYTHING
It’s like that Ryan adams era where he was doing like four whole records a year like. Why not make one good one every two years?
I’ll be damned if I’m paying for studio time and not releasing it, apparently
I’m amazed he found time to be such a sex pest
cause they are
Okay but why do you think so
Being a drummer isn't all about being super flashy. Ringo's timekeeping is insane and he could keep going forever lol
Not to mention they literally experimented with a variety of styles
And Ringo was able to create a good beat for all of them
Slipknot.
I dont think slipknot has that big of a following so i wouldnt think of them as overrated
^
Tool, iron maiden, and Metallica
no
Yes
no.
Yes
niet
Da
nien
it's nyet and nein, so I have to award the victory to ken by default
Like, if you'd boofed it once, fine, but twice? Two times? nyet. pas biens.
bruh
I don’t make the rules, I just enforce them
beatles
metallica even tho i love them
Metallica sold out to corporatism
Hasn’t every band sold out to corporatism tho
my band hasnt
The Beatles
That’s nu-emo the real 90s style stuff is much less whiny
The smiths. Repeated/redundant lyrics, bland vocals and song meaning, guitar tone sounds too similar in too many songs, the singer sounds like David Bowie having a tooth ache
Ik I see this a lot, but the cure is infinitely better. Instrument tone is way better, the singer is full of energy and same with all the other band members, lyrics are good (Still kinda weird at times but nonetheless pretty good), and meaning of songs actually make some sense. Im not saying that the cure is the cream of the crop or anything, but pretty good
Slipknot. 🤓
bro black sabbath is legendary
and death literally invented death metal
ozzy osbourne too, fucking legendary
This guy probably looked up “list of popular bands” and just copied and pasted it
Queen, Metallica for the most part
yeah lmao
and nickleback??? how can a band be overrated when everybody hates it
im not saying theyre good, theyre trash
ah i see
I feel like everyone hates them so much that they could be considered “underrated”
Just an example of “so overrated that it’s actually underrated”
kinda yeah
but like i feel like it is rated properly
like overrated is something is not very good but people say it is amazing
and underrated is it is amazing but not many people like it
and nickleback is shit and people think its shit
hence properly rated
Yeah true but what if everyone just kept saying it was “overrated”
hmmm idk
the guy who made “my name is richard and i’m sitting in the corner 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 sitting in the corner playing my recorder”
^^
You know I'm actually shocked that the list did not say "The Beatles"
Which means it somehow didn't list them (which would be surprising)
Or they intentionally removed them from that list before pasting it
Yeah, hell I've never even heard some of the bands in that list
i will end you
nickelback is underrated
W take
post nickelbacks greatest song
And testament best thrash band of all time
idk i kinda like slayer more
Shut up
Queens only famous cuz of Freddy Mercurys beautiful singing, not overrated, guitarists overrate Queen cuz of Brian Mays AMAZING solos
Nickleback isnt rated, i love em, but i wouldnt rate them
I mean, Freddy mercury has a wonderful voice
But the songs themselves….
They arnt bad, they just arnt incredible
The Beatles are #1 on every tier of best rock bands...
Like they aint that good
I can only name half a handful that I’d enjoy
I honestly dislike their music its so overplayed
They are only #1 on lists of ppl who don’t really know music
The Beatles and RHCP and Rolling stones are the most overrated
Rolling Stones top 500 albums, Beatles don’t crack the top 20, 30
I believe
They are good, but not the second coming of Jesus
#1 band imo (if they released more) would be Excel, but no one knows of them even they tried to sue Metallica for stealing their riff...
Underated too bro
Great band
The singer could use a dif mic fx but yk its alright cuz its skater rock
the beatles literally reinvented modern music and are the biggest selling artists of all time
😂
just like dave mustaine tryna be better than metallica
who cares tbh, the beatles are iconic, so what, all bands are for sum
metallica is iconic for stealing riffs and saying slurs and swears
nirvana is iconic for kurts death
...
please dont critiziser me
The Beatles basically did reinvent pop music and also in some ways changed how bands played live and recorded in the studio
I don’t think everyone has to like them for that tho
Nah bro you’re not even wrong 💀
Most non Nirvana fans just know the band cause “Kurt Cobain shot his brain oooo hahaha funny lmao”
