Underrated guy that nobody ever talks about is John Browne
Although hes more of a producer (even though he writes all the guitar bits in his songs)
Kevin parker is a good one too, but he's more psych rock. Prince is underrated as a guitarist
Changed my mind again, probably goes to John Gallagher of Dying Fetus, his riffs hook so well.
Chris Broderick
John Frusciante\
Yngwie
JD Simo and Sean Costello
he is rude off stage if you didnt know

Johnny Greenwood is pretty good. Does great composition work since he actually knows music theory really well.
yeah... tbh he's more of a "favourite musician" than favourite guitarist cuz he's worked with so many instruments
Yeah he's like a proper composer as well
I heard that he was the one doing all the strings arrangement for their songs
respect
Yeah he does. Has a solo career where he composed for films
Is he good as a guitarist ? or is he average
Not too familiar with his playing capability. By the sounds of it yeah he's good but I haven't heard him do anything amazing
listen to paranoid android
Yeah he plays pretty well. I mean, I was more thinking whether he is kind of like one of the super crazy good guitarist.

Josh Homme is pretty good as well.
I also think some of the shoegaze-y guitarists are good
Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien have some good parts.

His shredding, playing, and songs to me are just absolutely amazing and powerful. Here’s a clip of one: https://youtu.be/3gPBmDptqlQ
Live and Learn by Crush 40 (Main Theme of Sonic Adventure 2)
Lyrics
Verse 1
Can you feel life movin' through your mind?
Ooh... looks like it came back for more
Yeah
Can you feel time slippin' down your spine?
Ooh... you try and try to ignore
Yeah
But you can hardly swallow
Your fears and pain
When you can't help but follow
It puts you right ...
I may be biased because I’m a Sonic fan, but I think his guitar playing is very up to par with some of the best! Especially with Johnny Gioeli’s raspy vocals, it fits perfectly.
Jonny Greenwood

My favourite is a Portuguese guitarrist named Gonçalo Pereira...
Most of you probably never heard of him... It's been a while since he released new solo stuff, and he's not easy to come by on YouTube or Spotify... His albums are also nearly impossible to find nowadays, but I've got most of them, solo and others!
But he's most likely the one who "made" me buy a guitar 🙂
John Petrucci of Dream Theater/LTE/Explorer's Club/John Petrucci/A bunch of other side projects.
John5 Hideto Matsumoto
Hmmm

me
Confidence
James "Papa Het" Hetfield is the king of downpicking thus my king.

Speaking of favorite guitarists…one of mine just passed away. RIP Dickey. https://apple.news/A7FLw62fHSPCgXPqo7trdIw
😔
Saw them a bunch of times, Allman Joys and Allman Brothers ..
Man I never got to see them. You saw the Allman Joys?? Wow. That’s early on.

Not a fan of Megadeth but I like Rust In Peace just bc of those riffs and solos by Mustaine and Friedman
i like a lot of Megadeth stuff, marty and dave are probably one of my bigger influences
Bit of a local one, but Chino Singson of The Itchyworms
I love his work on the band as a lead guitarist like holy fuck

Kurt cobain or John frusciante
i have heard of zero of those people
You never heard of Kurt Cobain? 💀
oh oops lmao i skimmed over that name 💀
yes i have
Have you ever heard of... Imagine Dragons?
Rivers Cuomo is chill
awsten and geoff are from waterparks, josh is my friend, stephen is from skeletorus and seth and korey are from skillet
chill nerd who still writes sick riffs
Exactly
Hes not my fav but im surprised not a lot of people are bringing him up:
Jeff beck
I like Cuomo too
Pretty much everything on the blue album is perfect for learning lead guitar too
Mick Tompson
Fr, that's how I got into playing
I actually realized a few months ago that I'd essentially been practicing as a rhythm guitarist
Mostly because I equated lead guitar with hard guitar and avoided it
So my lead skills are actually not great, but Cuomo's solos and such are fairly simple and have been quite nice for figuring it out
Idk if anyone has said this yet but Marty Friedman
Jeff Beck is arguably the best guitarist that ever lived…… but, and I’m speaking for me……I have to take him in doses. He’s super good but not always that easy to listen to. Kinda like Greg Koch.
I had to add Audley Freed to my original list. Can’t believe I forgot to put him. He’s a MONSTER.
Good point. He’s great but his style can be ear grating at times. Never liked when he obsessively used the whammy bar or his tone
Yea he was unique for sure.

call me basic, but kirk hammett
he's such a cutie pie and he wrote some banger riffs
🤘 Spot on, @proper sphinx I don't get all the hate he gets nowadays. He did more with less technique wise, and brought more people to the guitar than many other guitarists combined.
Imma be called the most basic of em all

Shawn. Lane. SOOOO INFLUENTIAL, many skilled and technical guitarists compliment shawn cuz he's just so fucking good. (Guthrie Govan, Andy Timmons, Eric Johnson, Steve vai, Buckethead, Paul Gilbert) he can implement so many ideas onto a guitar and his playing is just so natural. He can sight read music sheets, he can play jazz, he was classically trained, he can make his guitar sound like a mid-eastern singer, he can play super fast too, and he knows when he needs to step back into something simpler so listeners dont get super bored. He does it all. Please if any of you guys have the time, search, him, up!!
Obviously Steve vai, favourite for mostly bad horsie, Daniel johns for frogstomp and then dimebag darrel pretty basic
His technique is insane
