My nephew is interested in learning to play the guitar. He likes bands like Metallica and others like them. What size is ideal?

Yeah I thought 3/4 was the way to go

#

Maybe I should take him to a guitar shop and he can pick one out of that size

8 year olds can play full sized aswell ||(better than me)||. 3/4 is probably best tho.

you could try getting him a 24" scale like a jag or mustang with humbuckers

Go with a Harley Benton

#

They are the best beginner guitars

might be a little hard to find one though cause idk if they normally come with humbuckers

You need to figure out if he will play left handed or right handed too

#

I recommend buying both of those

#

Although for the guitar make sure to check if he'll learn left hand or right hand

The stuff I picked out is probably the best thing you could get for him

#

Without spending alot

#

If anyone recommends you something else, show them the items I showed you and see if they disagree

If they are 13 like the other guy, I'd say the 50 watt

and u expect that 9 year old to change the 6 batteries required for it every week?

#

the batteries on that thing die oddly quick

It's better than their parents getting angry at it being too loud lol

#

It will probably have to be a bedroom amp

#

i didnt mention the 50, but also the 50 has a variable wattage setting

#

it literally can go from 0.5 watts to 10 watts to 25 to 50

shell meadow
#

Yeah but again they are 9, I expect that they will probably change it to the 50 watts and turn up the volume all the way

if they could find the little dial for it, i dont think kids should be treated less when it comes to gear just cus theyre kids. give em a decent little mustang lt25 or something and let em scroll thru funny presets with ease

If you get him to try out both he might prefer a left-handed guitar at first, but that's not good in the long run

#

If you've never played guitar before you will want your dominant hand on the neck actually pressing the notes

#

But you really need your dominant hand to be plucking the individual strings

#

And your non-dominant hand to be on the neck

#

So a right-handed guitar would be good for him

Dominant hand on fretboard gangwylde

My daughter started using a 24 3/4" scale when she was a little over seven, she's now almost 9 and steals my 25.5" guitars all the time.

She stands or sits classical with a footstool exclusively and elevates the neck for reach.
