The two big things that come up every time are:

Don't count on your phone being able to work reliably. The sheer number of people in one place tends to overwhelm the cell network. Instead of using the F1 app to listen to commentary, for example, bring a garden-variety portable radio.

WEAR EAR PROTECTION - good ear protection. Headphones will not cut it. Noise-cancelling headphones will not cut it. You want proper ear protection with a high NRR (Noise Reduction Rating); any model worth its salt should have the NRR listed prominently somewhere. Personally, I'd go for the full "earmuff" style - I'll find a link in a moment.

If you have a general admission ticket without a specific seat on a grandstand, bringing a little portable seat can be a good idea also
great advice, thanks very much. I was going to just bring some earplug, but will bring a solid set of earmuffs as well.
Now I just have to find myself a little radio.
