Just for the record I'll put my suggestion of the NLS 24 Hour in here again 😅
I would have made the NLS 24 Hours if I wasn't already committed to be working on weekends adjacent to that. It's also in the middle of my exam season...
I think 4 Hours of Spa (ELMS) would be a good fit - ELMS has great access. This is what a typical weekend timetable looks like:
From last year's event
Oh that looks like a pretty wicked timetable indeed
Would probably have to take Friday and Monday off I'd imagine, but I like the idea
Accomodation does seem like kind of an issue though.. would have to research that properly, but not today anymore, it's a bit late 😅
I don't have commitments surrounding the weekend, and because it's September nothing unexpected should pop up
I suppose a tent Is always an option but I'd rather not unless I really have to
Tents are cheap but then you also need to sleep in a tent
I'd probably camp if I'm honest, given that a lot of accommodation is rather far away from Spa
That's also the issue with Spa as a circuit - it's not located near convenient places to stay.
Had a quick look and the only ones genuinely close to the circuit are going for like 500€+ a night
So.. tent it is I suppose lol, if we do settle on spa
There's a GT World Challenge event in Hockenheim on 2-3 September - tickets €35, local accommodation £80/night, camping available too. Lots of support races - see last year's programme...
Oh Hockenheim would be amazing!!
35 euro tickets, wouldn't be too bad?
I've got an auntie down there I might be able to stay at 😅
Not exactly in Hockenheim but not too far away IIRC
Hotels are cheap too! There are a few 3-6 km away from the venue going for £80/night
Yeah Germany has quite a market for cheap but okay hotels
I think that might be the "best" event for now - I'll send a link to the event page https://www.gt-world-challenge-europe.com/event/205/hockenheim
There are support events too. Here's the programme from last year:
35€ has free choice of seating and complete paddock access btw, for the entire weekend
Hell yes!
I think this would be a great idea, let's see if anyone else would be up for it. I've met @vocal hedge before and I think he might be interested, depending on whether or not he'll be able to make it.
F1 really is terrible when it comes to value/€ huh. €35 for a weekend ticket is insane
Some of the tickets for events at Silverstone go for £15 including garage access
I'll talk over this with my mom tomorrow to see if there's any scheduling conflicts but realistically I don't even know what in doing next week so it should be good!
I should be fine - I'll be working at an event the weekend after this race, but it looks good so far in terms of my own availability :)
I suggest everyone brings a camping chair, roughly like this (beer not included)
I like how the tickets are in euros, but the stay is in pounds
We just got to make sure PJ is there, so I can ban him again

Idk how much this advice goes or helps but here’s some based of what I know
In terms of value for money, the more sportscar series do have a bit more better value for money per say. SRO has a lot lot of races which they bring a crap ton of support races depending where they are. Regional series such as BTCC and DTM(current ADAC) also have a really good amount of support races
If you do go to a WEC race, be aware there’s not really a lot of besides of WEC. Rarely there’s a support race on it, but if you do want to go to Sebring, you could go to both the 1000 Miles/12 Hours races in back to back days as IMSA and WEC do their double header to start their season
I’d also recommend some of the ERC or WRC rallies if you could afford going.
Going to Motocycling series does also have a decent amount of races. MotoGP/WSBK have a strong support and usually are from morning until mid day on each of the 3 days (Friday-Sunday)
For most of series I think garage walk is free or you pay a small fee that could come with ticket but I’m not entirely sure on that. But in most outside of F1 you could go and do walk around the garages if permitted
VLN(NLS) hosts i think 6-7 4 hour races of Nordschelife alongside the 24 hour race. Usually hosts a good amount of accommodation
If we were considering British races, I would also suggest BTCC and/or British GT, however I’ll be working on most - if not all - of the British GT weekends
I’d love to go and watch British F4 alongside BTCC, I’m aware BTCC does charge extra for paddock access though
I'd go to Brands Hatch for a race
I’m only in Europe for a very brief amount of time
But the unofficial r/formula1 discord meetup in Melbourne was great last year, if anyone wants to meet up (especially on the Thursday)
Brands is fantastic!
Hi! I would like to propose COTA or Vegas as a potential meet up in the US. They're months away so people can make plans. (Even if we can't get tickets to the race, we can all still meet up in the city to hang out outside of race events with the people going to the races. Both cities seem like they have a lot to offer.)
Im gonna be at UK gp next weekend full weekend if there's any kind of sesh going on
i've said this in feeder series chat but i'll be at british GT/donington decider at donny park in october for the saturday (21st), so if you spot a smallish bloke in a rossi hat that might well be myself
Highly recommend going to donington park anyway as it's a brilliant track and it doesn't get enough love from a lot of fans imo
