#Why is the brake telemetry on these graphics binary?

The prevailing notion is that the actual percentage is a number the teams don't want to reveal publicly.
Additionally, with regen being a factor in slowing cars down it may be harder than simply monitoring pedal travel. 50% brake travel might not always equal 50% brake pressure for example, it might be 40% on high regen or 60% on low.
Followup, why is that not true of the throttle?
Just to add—the brakes are hybrid brake-by-wire and hydraulic, whereas the throttle is completely electronic
Scarbs says throttle is essentially a spring loaded potentiometer, which makes sense that it’s a lot easier to measure than a mixed hydraulic/electronic system
Oh I'm referring to "the teams don't want to reveal"
Why wouldn't they want to hide the throttle too?
It’s interesting an F1 car uses potentiometers when high-end sim racing pedals go for hall sensors instead as they tend to break less.
Throttle’s easier to assess from watching races anyways as you can listen to the engine rev up.
Also (and this is me spitballing here) since Traction Control is banned having throttle traces publicly available might be one way of checking that.
Even dumber question: isn't that also determined by engine modes and the engine itself thus making it harder to figure out?
regardless of the engine mode, you can still hear it accelerating and shifting
regardless of the engine mode you’ll likely have a pretty good idea of what they’re doing with the throttle
