Title: El Pícaro
Format: Feature
Genre: Acid Western/Arthouse
Logline: A drifter drags his beloved’s body through the lands, as a brutal killer and a resurrected outlaw, converge on his path.

  • his wife’s final wish is for her to be buried atop the tallest mountain in the west.

  • two killers impede on his destiny.

(think: the good, the bad, the ugly + el topo)

Seems pretty straight forward - there's a clear goal, protagonist, stakes, and antagonists. My only issue with the logline is that "killers, bandits, and gangs" all have a lot of overlap so it sounds repetitive.

Nah, I get what you're going for. but overall this sounds really interesting!

I agree with Taylor on the repetitiveness of the killers, bandits, thieves part but other than that I can't spot anything I'd change. Nice story idea!

The story have space for layers but, if it kils the emotional core this logline can be made

#

but it is very neat and predictable

#

but anyways nice idea

after writing on the story for awhile I’ve decided to make a central villain Instead of just “killers, bandits, thieves”

#

I was reading the blood meridian and always wanted a judge holden sort of character

which is perfect for this now because I’m doing a lot of surrealism

he’s based off of a real person that was a scalphunter responsible for killing many Native Americans

#

however in the book he’s written as a nearly 7ft tall, pale skinned, Demi god (hinted at)

probably the darkest villain in any media ever

#

I really wanted to write a character like that. like a guy that feels inevitably powerful and has no weaknesses

judge holden is talked about a shit ton AND wins in the story

#

yet he’s an unstoppable force in the book

vast lagoon
#

i really need to read that book

solid saffron
#

he’s interesting because of the way he talks, his speech, his appearance, the setting, his source material, his unknown history, etc

#

especially what he does

#

there’s a long episode of analyzing evil on him you should check it out

it absolutely is

BIG PLOT CHANGE:

now its a 3 way game type movie

#

El Picaro (The Good) is trying to bury his wife on the holy mountain.

Tuca (the median) is racing to kill El Picaro because of the confrontation they had.

The Bastard (The Evil) Is trying to corrupt anything and everything in existence.

The Bastard wants to kill both (his reason for wanting to kill Tuca is a bit complex) but his reasoning for wanting to kill El Picaro is because of his reputation. El Picaro represents the good, the holy, and stuff. The Bastard wants to ruin all of that.

(also El Picaro’s wifes corpse has a deeper plot meaning then just a corpse. this relates to another reason The Bastard wants to kill him.)

#

so now it’s become:

the surreal, religiosity, el topo, the good, the bad, the ugly, blood meridian, all wrapped into one big arthouse western.
