#Interacting with NPCs causes them to instantly die
59 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
Also a weird occurrence is that some monsters will just die when they get near me, which is strange.
I don't remember installing anything that does that.
I mean it probably results from an attempt to interact
Iirc this happens with a broken dialogue message file, whatever those were called... Lemme check
[10:59:21.810] [Error] Exception while invoking lua function 'update'. (LuaException) Error code 2, [string "/npcs/bmain.lua"]:170: (StarException) Lua Exception caught running action node sayToEntity in behavior villager: (LuaException) Error code 2, [string "/scripts/actions/dialog.lua"]:20: (AssetException) Error loading asset /dialog/converse.config:converse
Yeah that
Do I need to just delete that file so a new one can generate or are there any pointers as to what mod's breaking the file?
you appear to have a great many broken mods
The game won't regenerate that afaik
It's not like a MC mod config that's just settings, that file IS the dialogue data
Probably shouldn't be surprised my game's shitting itself
considering 997 mods are installed-
Someone has likely done worse to the game
welp time to remove all my mods and go through them one by one-
The fact that it hasn't crahed too
The worst thing about it is that it still runs fine
For the most part
Occasional stutters here and there
Were you just grabbing everything that looks neat off the Workshop or something?
Yeah pretty much, I'm a content hoarder
I just watch out for anything FU related and avoid it
Yeah that ain't gonna work with SB
you don't appear to have succeeded, as several errors are related to missing FU data
Yeah I'm not sure what's going on there. I'm guessing remnants are still present from the time I completely uninstalled the mod
Probably missed a spot
Installing FU is a one-way trip per the dev...
If you decide to uninstall it, you have to nuke everything
I did that
unless you kept your storage folder, you can't really have "remnants" of a mod, unless you manually installed it to your mods folder and didn't delete the folder
I'll go ahead and sort through this dumpster fire
Another alternative is a neat little launcher called Multibound
I've tried to get multibound running but I could never get it to launch
You probably have your SB installed somewhere weird and you need to point Multi to where the game is
I had to do that to set it back up on here
I have starbound installed on an external hard drive because there's no way in hell all my games are gonna be able to sit on a 200-500GB SSD
Cause I was going from a slightly odd location to a normal one
Ah, yep
Also your load times are... dear god
I don't think I even want to know
It just takes a couple minutes, not very long.
Nearly 1000 mods on an external
Tops 5-6 minutes.
What how
I do not know how-
Also SB is only a couple gigs
It's not a big game at all
I slapped it on my laptop to work on my mods and it has a 250GB SSD with roughly 18 gigs left lmao
Well with SSD's I don't wanna write to them too much since they do have a limit
I only use it as basic programs and boot drive
Everything else goes to the mechanical
