So, about the border deal
Basically, there was the Tartu Peace Treaty in 1920, which established the borders between the newly-independent Estonia and Soviet Russia
Now, as we all know, the Soviet Union occupied Estonia later on and when the Soviet Union dissolved, certain areas (around 5% of Estonia‘s total area) were left under Russian control
To be specific, those areas include a couple cities near Narva and near Pskov with a population of maybe around 30k people
This was an issue for quite a while, as especially nationalist parties wanted them back, but there were border agreements later on as countries have to settle their border disputes before being allowed into the EU
As there are still certain issues regarding those towns and sea borders, new agreements keep popping up every once in a while and what EKRE (a far-right party) tried to do was try to pass a resolution to not sign the latest treaty, and that resolution was rejected today
EKRE are a bunch of idiots anyways, I don’t believe this is a mainstream opinion in any way
