so here are the issues with opening our borders to political refugees from Russia:
- There's a lot of arbitrary Russophobia in Europe/the UK atm, even if they denounce the Putin regime they're likely to be harassed by those who don't understand the nuances of war
- Some bad actors from the Russia secret services could make use of the relaxed borders for Russian refugees, and hence more state sponsored assassination incidents against former Russian agents could occur like the Skripal poisoning
- There's already huge pressure on Europe/UK and war refugees from Ukraine must take precedent over political refugees from Russia - the refugees from Ukraine are in much dire straights than the Russians ones atm.
Also many Russian political refugees are going to struggle to get out anyway due to the increased Russian state control of borders

theres already significant, though minority, support for a no-fly zone in western countries
and the more support grows, the harder it is for western leaders to hold their composure
