If you've made the choice to fight, I respect it
even if Ukraine is crushed, the resolve of the Ukrainian people will not crumble so easily.
Good luck
I don't advise reading that if you're easily disturbed, or don't want to feel sick
huh
Yes, South of it. There hasn't been that many fights where i live, but i keep a close watch on everything happening in the country.
it makes me sick to read
Do you think you’ll flee?
Well, you know your life better thank anyone here. Make level headed decidigions and good luck to you in whatever path you shall choose.
in the event Kiev falls and Ukraine is defeated and the war would likely turn into a guerrilla war with constant insurgency in West Ukraine
If you dislike the source, here's one from harvard, less gruesome but still disturbing ||https://www.google.com/amp/s/hir.harvard.edu/donetsks-isolation-torture-prison/amp/||
Me and my family are not planning on it. Even if it comes to that, I dont think i'd be fine sleeping, knowing that I left my country in the time of need.
Bless you
My goodness
Impresseive. Good luck.
Respect, man. I wish you and your family the best
Godspeed you brave souls ❤️
while there aren't many fights here, im trying to spend as much time as possible online uncovering news and sharing them with my foreign circle
because the world has to know. I've seen meetings in support of Ukraine in different countries, but I dont think people realise how big of a threat is Russia, especially Putin
Here comes the Calvary
@scarlet crown Mind if i ask something in DMs?
sure

If your city were to be invaded by a dictatorship that despises your people, would you rather die defending it or be executed just for existing?
that
I’m pretty sure they all have to do one year in the military so they have experience, but still that’s an interesting play
I hope it goes well
What does well mean in this circumstance
Russian suffering.
maximum resistance, minimum casualties
"I hope it doesn't fall to the Russians"
No
No.
No needless death
As much as people may like to villainise the Russians here, these are people who are forced to kill or be killed on order
Just no
I agree with that
Exactly
We take the very few examples of Russian soldiers being cruel and portray it as if that's everyone
It's hard to repel invaders without them suffering, but I probably could have worded it better
A lot better
sorry
The only difference between the Ukrainian army troops and the Russian army troops is what side of a line in the geopolitical sand they live on
Keep in mind that dehumanising enemy is just fucking bad. This is where mass executions, torture and other bad shit starts at
It’s not the individuals it’s the leaders
Very good point
t h i s
a lot of russian people are against the war, and unfortunately can't speak out because they know they'll be put into jail by Stalin2.0, so the only ones that need to be insulted is the half bald egomaniac and his minions
Many people do speak out, the brave souls
over 50 cities erupted into protest
in St Petersburg alone 850people were arrested
That's why EU provided sanctions aimed more on the Putin and his following too ^^
Brave souls indeed, charlotte
The people of Russia need to be prepared to use lethal force against the police
Last resort of course, but it may be necessary if the strategy of "they can't arrest us all" doesn't work and the cops start shooting
I was genuinely surprised when over 6k people in St Petersburg actually went on street for protest
really did raise my respect towards russians
6k? wow
From CNN
🦃
aye, its a legally defined international straight
why
it would count as an act of war
man
being international waters
Woah
JESUS
bit link
Hold please
nice link
at the end of ww1 it was defined as a international stretch of water
and no longer under turkish authority
as they say in article, its likely just from radioactive dirt being kicked up
levels are still extremely far from harmful
Thank you, val
I hope that’s all it is
still, it's a very dangerous choice to send troops there. Even a slight miscorrection in action can lead to a whole ecologic disaster
Yup
ehhh
its not that dangerous
its a lot safer then russias attacks on power plants they are also doing
Massive civilian armament, ukraine armour is in kyiv
Russians are surrounding the city
Russia is approaching fast
Yeah
a siege will set in
likely today
or best case tomorrow
over 18,000 rifles distributed to civilians in the city

Is this old? I just came across it. Lots of good information
Hour by hour updates
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-europe-60517447 BBC has it too
reminder russia only got so fast to kiev by breaking the genava human rights act and dressing up in Ukrainian uniform and vehicles
They're trying their best to topple the capital and put in their another puppet leader
Poland suspended the need for visas to enter the country so that people from Ukraine can come in with only a passport
Bless
They made a website to help too
cool

Idk if it happened earlier but they are eshowing it
Today, at noon in the Belovodsk area, Ukrainian soldiers gave battle to the Russian occupiers. Our units broke through the positions of the invaders and consolidated their success with a counterattack.
Having suffered significant losses, Russian units are fleeing the battlefield in the direction of the Russian border. ```
Jesus fucking christ
That was earlier
Ah okay thanks
🙏🙏
Come on lads
Euronews is reporting that Kyiv is underseige now
uh oh
lol the chat
this stream is looping
go fuck yourself
So much of Putin’s speech was propaganda
this footage is atleast 3 hours old
fucking never
The unity of our army is what helped us thrive a day already
Don't worry I have live BBC too so just incase
Watching the live thing
they expect us to shatter and give up
Putin clearly doesn't see that the entire world thinks he's a maniac
or at least most of the world think he's a maniac
Yeah never open a live chat of a live news stream
Close the chat, nothing good comes from live chats on news streams
he does not care
I have the live on fullscreen
he's a dictator with no remorse
I AM PRAYING THIS BACKFIRES MASSIVELY
Still discussions about sanctions?
I think we all are
Kinda sad that Russian civilians will also have to deal with the punishment
Also a bit weird that Euronews (Basically funded by the European Union) is a bit late by 3 hours and just looping until there is breaking news
If I had the option, I would smack Putin across his stupid face. Multiple times. With a hammer perhaps.
I haven't seen it yet
not so weird, so far EU has shown that they dont want to risk their ass here
Russian rubles have been the lowest in many years, the russian civilians are already suffering from this
And that's sad to hear
I wish that the eu would do more
It's not their fault, it's their leader
the sanctions do not go nearly far enough
The ones suffering the most from war are always the civilians
Sadly I can't really blame NATO or EU as much as I want them to intervene, if any western power intervenes we go go into a nuclear world war
we really wouldnt though
But im also worried if somehow
Knock on wood that it doesn't happen
Same with the troops who are dying. They’re being ordered to die essentially.
From CNN
A stray missile hits a nato nation
MAD would still be in effect
exactly
That's a declaration of world war
Isn’t NATO literally just a defense agreement?
Putin has posted another briefing
both nations owuld kill each other, world would enter nuclear winter
That's my biggest worry
That countries willingly enter?
Link?
A full scale war probably tho, which would be catastrophic anyway
yeah
nato stipulates that if one attacks, all attack
So nukes or not thats not a good option
If Ukraine wants to join NATO, let them join. It’s their choice.
Let's hope that it stays in Ukraine
While that's sounds bad
Yeah, so defense agreement.
Having it contained is better
It can take a while for a country to join NATO
It's not just them saying "I want to join" then they are in
Uhm current situation can make no deman things to go incredibly faster
I doubt they can join NATO during the war, especially when the president itself is literally fighting with the soldiers rn
a "stray missile" already hit a Turkish ship
Well hopefully bombs don’t drop while RT is playing Elden Ring
I dont really see NATO wanting ukraine to join currently
because it would instantly force all other NATO nations to immediately enter the war
Oop forgot rt is live soon
Making it a world war pretty much
exactly
currently but okay
that's the one thing everyone is trying to avoid
Hmm…
anyways I hope sanctions will at least get a bit better as this is madness atm
Exactly, that's why US and NATO didn't do anything yet because nobody wants a nuclear war happening rn
I mean no one wants nuclear war but nuclear war isn't really realistic
they just dont want a world war
Also wanted to post this here
Is this one live?
Whilst the West watches Ukraine - President of #Ukraine Zelensky took off his clothes and put on a military uniform to join the troops in fighting to protect the Ukrainian homeland. He is a true leader.

WW2 was over 80 years ago, and we know how fucking destructive that was
absolute legend
What a chad
Yeah such a madlad
FIGHTING WITH HIS TROOPS TO THE LAST 🙏🙏
gods bless his soul
A 3rd world war would be horrific, nukes or not
Yes. This is the kind of person I would want leading my country. Not a figurehead; a true leader who is willing to actually serve the country.
I mean nukes are horrific, but not because they are super likely to happen
-gigachad of a president, holy fuck
Balls made of titanium this man
bro I dont know how many more presidents would do that
Also the uniform suits him well
Cant say i know much about the dude, but rn hes being a fucking chad
Yeah, he really cares about his country
got the sigma male grind set
I can’t believe I said that I’m never saying that again
That was cringe of me
He does, but I'm worried about him getting killed in combat, this is not the time for Ukraine to lose its leader
Yeah it at least proves something that hes willing to fight for the people of ukraine
Yes.
Just saw something that pisses me off
You just saw something?
That's true but if he does die that will show how much he cares and his dedication is
This will show the world how good of a leader he is than just running away like most would do
Thats what this whole chat has been lmao
I wanted to say that but i didn't want to ruin the mood
it's basically just a statement at this point
Saw a Russian tank running over a civilians car with the guy in it
Jesus christ...
The guy survived
The guy survived
Thank god
Oh my
But at the same time, it proves that the person leading the troops isn’t so distant from the people they are leading to make idiotic decisions. So that might actually save lives…
Saw a video of a house nearly getting hit by missiles
Yeah its a powerful statement against russia holy shit
darn
With the video pov inside the house
you weren't here when i posted the results after a rocket landed in a kindergarten that became a war shelter
So it was fake?
Theres no fun in war thats for sure
Honestly most info currently is suspicious
matter of research
reminds me of Constantine XI
Ghost of Kyiv ✈️
I mean honestly even if it is fake
Soul of the Byzantines indeed
if it brings up moral of the people fighting for their homeland, wouldn't it still be good?
Wait, what was fake?
there's no real evidence of it being the same guy, but it does sound good hearing that one pilot took out about 6 enemy planes
Ghost of Kyve was fake
Apparently the pictures were old pictures of the president in service
kyiv* :p
Yeah, I fucked it up, got confused which was the Ukraine spelling
Dude was playing ace combat
Kiev
kyiv
Wait nvm
Don’t use Kiev
that’s derived from Russian, while Kyiv is derived from Ukrainian
Kiev is a russian way of spelling
Yeah
Kyiv would be more correct
Yeah
According to Twitter reports, Yuzhnoye & Yuzhmash in the Ukraine have been completely destroyed in the Ukraine war ( confirmation pending). So if this is confirmed, further production of #Antares rockets for ISS supply won't be possible, as the 1st stage body is built there.
@copper monolith
aaa
As if there wasnt enough reasons to hate russia rn
Are those provinces of Ukraine if so 😭😭😭
it's a company
Ukraine
Ive just seen a post about a man saying bye to his family whos evacuating ukraine, and one of the comments says. "War is started by little men in big rooms. Making decisions that only impact the rest of us" while this doesnt correlate to what you are talking about now I thought it holds true. And a prime example is putin, hes not out there fighting like the ukranian leader, but hes making the decisions which impact everyone else
I still think about the name of the Ukraine National Anthem and I hope it holds true
ukranian leader isn't actually out on the battlefield, the photo is old
I wouldn‘t expect him to be
yeah, as much of a statement as it is, it's not very smart in the long run
He‘ll be asassinated on sight
yeah he just wouldnt survive
Putin‘s speech earlier only cemented that point of view
I’m honestly surprised that Ukraine is doing this well rn
what did he say in the speech?
With one of the largest militaries in the world bearing down on them
Ukrainians are very organised + the missiles are working wonders
I know their not at full force
this is definitely beyonds breathing down on them lmao
that’s why I changed it
and yeah its incredible how well they've been doing atm
Basically he suggested that Ukraine‘s military should attempt a coup
yeah ofc he would
He said that it‘ll be easier to negotiate with the army than with "neonazis and junkies"
Classic Putin
another one of his speeches for show
May he rot in hell
he still thinks the military will just obey him
I don’t think it’s that
Hoping Ukrainian military will somehow be a dark horse
"theres no purgatory for war criminals, they go straight to hell"
I think he might stage a faux coup using spies he has in the Ukrainian army
I saw a tweet chain from a former military stratigest, and he think Ukraine has a real shot of winning as a major part of a battle is the willingness to actually fight. And Ukraine will be more willing to defend their home then the conscripts Russia sent
That's the main goal
keep up the prayers and repost information 🙏
I wish I sent that here
Ukraine is a scrappy lil country
hopefully someone can prove me wrong, but i feel like the idea it wont end badly is wishful thinking tbh
but yeah thats definitely a true point
Yeah, russian troop morale is already super low, and some of the parts of the military don’t even know what they’re being sent to do, as seen with that platoon surrendering
and its been true for other wars in the past
If anyone would stage a coup however, id guess it would be the russian military against putin, since pay is maybe gonna lower for them as well because of the russian economy crashing
Ukraine has a lot to fight for
Indeed
Russia? Not so much
A Russian coup? Yes please.
Yeah, i genuinely think its a big possibility, since either russian troops have to be payed less or the civilian people have to be payed less, meaning more people likely protesting as well
Whatever the case though, i really hope the bloodshed ends soon
Russian Revolution but this time for good
russia has more reasons to not fight
unless your putin i guess cause he only cares about power over ukraine
If anything in the modern age would cause an overthrow of the government in Russia, it’d be something like this
true
In other news, guess the Pope went to the Russian embassy and scolded them
lets hope that wouldnt end badly tho
Yeah 😬
Really? Huh.
you know you fucked up when the pope is telling you you're gonna go to hell
Yeah, its up in the air as to what would happen after a russian coup, since usually they dont always go well
lol more on this
Sometimes I wonder what goes on in Putin’s brain
nothing, clearly
Ukrainians no longer need visas to enter Ireland 😎
he is calling the Ukrainian government a "drug-addicted neonazis"
Zelensky is literally jewish you knobhead
yea they put that tag on us a long while ago
Does he not do research or

they also seem to interpret nationalism as a bad thing
that would be fucking hilarious if it didnt have any weight
hilariously enough their mass media is full of nationalists constantly berating the west and saying that Russia is the greatest in literally everything
eh, nationalism is usually a pretty bad thing
patriotism is different tho, especially when it comes to standing up for your country against a literal invasion
Hypocrisy and propaganda, what can i say

honestly what could they possibly do to stop them from joining nato?
Finland and Sweden are both EU countries, repercussions for Russia would be harsher if they did anything.
At most, declare war
have you been keeping up with current events?
Which would be unjustified
well, what did they do to ukraine
the whole war is about Ukraine wanting to join NATO
ngl russia probably still has pstd of finland
according to russia
they wouldn’t attack them if they joined nato tho
no but they can attack as they are in the process of joining
sure they wouldn't attack them if they are a part of it
True because nato would all declare war on russia
oh no
finland would need a nationwide refurrendum
but the problem is that it takes years for a country to join Nato
that takes time
it's not as easy as just saying "I am part of nato"
yeah joining NATO is a longgg process
The current evens have kicked up a lot of talk on joining NATO in Finland.
if it was that easy to join NATO in a day then chances are Ukraine would be a part of it
the 39-40 winter war is a perfect example of how to resist a major power though ngl
russia wont just go around invading everyone, their economy cant take that
and their military is already demoralized enough
its a risk though
a huge risk
and a risk that could result in russia turning washington dc into a memory
if you're referencing russia using nukes, then most of the world would be a memory
if russia were dumb enough to nuke the west they would’ve done it already
true, since the first nuclear bomb would mean others coming along
and the ecological damage that'd cause
yeah if russia just attacks sweden or finland its gonna escalate as much as it can from there tbh
no ones saying otherwise tho lmao
that and retalitory strikes
A war between ukraine and Russia and N.A.T.O and Russia is completely different
Russia wouldn't nuke ukraine, but would they nuke the usa? a lot more likely
they’re having enough trouble with a smaller and less technologically advanced force in ukraine, i doubt they’re eager to attack finland or sweden
Just having a break at work. Why are ppl still talking about nuclear threat. Thought we established already that this is nonsense
that’s what i’m saying
we're talking about a hypothetical
russia invades finland after they join nato
nuclear threat is nonsense in current scenario yes
russia is not invading finland, ESPECIALLY if they join nato
Russia is hiding behind their nuclear umbrella to act while keeping the west from interfering
nukes have lost a lot of power tbh, sure they're massively destructive, but its a case of if you fire off a nuke, you will get nuked
they've just become a bargaining tool
putin is a maniac, but he’s anything but stupid. he’s not hitting the nuke button unless he sees nato tanks in red square
thing is, finland announcing they will join nato
and joining nato
is a several year gap
thats the risk period
a huge risk period
Zelensky is gonne stay in kyif he wont abandon the capitol
benefits of invading Finland would be very minimal. No extra resources, the harbours freeze in winter. He doesn't even have the excuses and lies he is using right now with Ukraine (separatist areas, persecution of ethnic russians).
where russia has incentive to attack and nato has no requirement to defend
He threatened military repercussions if they join nato
is what sparked this
Btw: Germany finally managed to deliver the promised helmets https://twitter.com/mathieuvonrohr/status/1497232829683572744?s=20&t=HM3YYoqu2D76bmOb9FEklw
Germany has managed to finally send off their 5000 helmets to the Ukraine forces. The handover is planned somewhere outside Ukraine.

russias only invaded finland once before tbh, and got absolutely fucked
the Finns caused unbelievable damage to the Soviets
yea lmao, a repeat of that would fuck over russia
Wouldn't it be this tragic, it would be funny
ukraine at least has some strategic value to russia, finland has none
Sumo Hayha slowly rises from the grave
is that what his name was I forgot
i think so yeah
Simo Häyhä
close enough
well yeah but a threat is still a threat
Russia is pushing Finland closer to @nato membership. Vloser than ever before. Our security has been partially based on an option to join. At this rate we have no other option but to join. Finland’s accession would strengthen the Alliance and help keep Northern Europe stable.

looks like russia is really digging their own grave
Imagine complaining about NATO expansion while actively threatening non NATO members
The arguments for and against NATO in Finland are both about Russia. People against NATO say that joining would give Russia a reason to be aggressive, and that is why joining isn't good
yeah. There's a reason "finlandization" is an actual term.
I mean in the face of threats from russia, I assume that NATO would try and speed up any countries trying to join, especially if they were neighboring russia
During the cold War finland stayed safe by being equidistant from both powers
do you guys think extremly neutral countries like switzerland will get sucked into this
Neither side made a move, as they didn't want to break the balance in Scandinavia
no of course not
Switzerland sat eating chocolate during the second World war
nothing will bother then
no they'll stay neutral till the end
also next to bombing switzerland, it's really fucking hard to invade
Also noticing by the countries involved this seems like much of a problem for western countries. It seems continents with bigger porblems in countries are staying out of it. Such as australia, south america, some of asia and africa
cause of the geography right?
partly yes
I mean many of these countries have strong ties or economic debts to russia and china so if they were to get involved it would sadly be on the russians side
ah
Has this been shared yet?

BREAKING — NATO to provide air defense systems to Ukraine and more weapons — Stoltenberg
i feel like we might win this lads
Here's hoping!
Today is certainly looking better than yesterday!
Hey, in case anyone is interested, LTV (Latvian public broadcasting) is hosting a charity concert tonight to support the people in Ukraine. You can find more information and ways to donate on ziedot.lv (in Latvian), they‘ve collected 1 million € already
@ragipsoylu @IntelCrab He did not say this!
He said individual NATO countries decided to supply such systems.
NATO is not supplying any weapons to Ukraine.
It’s too late to supply air defense systems I think
Stinger missiles are still a valid option, but a full-on system would require prolonged training
tbf this might just be more of the same

this gave me chills
Bless him
@atomic vigil specifically Putin accused the Ukrainian government of being neo-nazis, despite Zelensky himself having Jewish ancestry. - It's an attempt at a justification for deposing the current Ukrainian government and installing a puppet regime in Ukraine loyal to the Kremlin
Thing is right the sports people know that they might get banned from international events due to this war
so many russian sportsmen and musicians are acting against war
really says something
Scientists too
The people dont want this war
Saw some report of a russian woman who said that putin promised he wouldnt go to war about 4 years ago and now realises that he lied to literally everyone
yeah. the sheer amount of fear on his face, and yet it's such a brave act of protest
She was an older woman on national television here
I hope that guy stays safe
the only person this war is good for is putin
Very few to no Russians want war but the government silences all the protesters before there can be real change
just like Lukashenko claimed back in 2014 that he will never let russian troops through his borders again
ahh CNN
someone on there pronounced Kyiv as "Keeev" and it's been bugging me ever since
tbh i've heard a couple people mispronounce and even misspell city names, hopefully they get on that and fix it as things progress

yea that
honestly it's easier to check the pronunciation online
i'm more disgruntled that news people don't know their stuff versus people still learning about it
apparently this is the russian pronunciation and the ukrainian one would be more like kuy-yiv
but it's probably a moot point
yeah
hard to find
hard to describe
the main battle is about to happen
What is Georgia doing??? Why are they not doing sanctions
ALSO really praying for Kyiv to survive
sadly not sure if that will happen
I remember when Russia invaded Georgia during/after the Beijing Olympics in 2008
and now they're doing it again, but with Ukraine
ye
tbh as much as I dont want it to happen, I think its inevetible that Kyiv doesnt fall to Russia
Wasnt there already gunfire and artillery in Kyiv?
has russia not began an attack on kyiv yet?
it's been slowly worming in all day, though with a small part of the main forces that are gonna get there soon

I learn to use #Kalashnikov and prepare to bear arms. It sounds surreal as just a few days ago it would never come to my mind. Our #women will protect our soil the same way as our #men. Go #Ukraine! 🇺🇦 https://t.co/UbF4JRGlcy

Imagine having a country, where the mp's learn to use weapons to help in the defense
lmfao this is literally what the situation is
They've been saying that before aswell. People here are and were unnerved about it
what are they going to do, invade you too?
Hopefully not
the biggest issue there is that joining nato is huge process
id say itd probably also just make russia mad, but it looks like protection against russia is important now lmao
couldn't it actually make finland and sweden want to join NATO more?
I feel like considering current situations, joining NATO might be easier for Finland and Sweden
yea
I'd want you to join NATO tbh
same
after Ukraine it would take a long time for Russia to recover
maybe enough time to officially join
i would be worried ireland would try to join
cant say i know all that much, but i dont think russia will be able to attack once the ukraine situation is over
wait until u hear about some countries in the east
kinda oof for an island nation
atleast finland should join NATO
but at least those tax euros go to better things
...yeah about that
be the buffer zone for u
Good
Finland borders Russia though. And from my understanding that is exactly what Putin does not want. Sweden has gotland, and is also part of a buffer zone between NATO and russia
The more NATO the better
apparently about 30% of swedes support NATO membership right now
also this guy on the BBC broadcast, he keep saying the US is supporting neonazis that control Ukraine, but when asked for proof, he just talks about some random shit
only huh
yea
I wonder if that changed after this week
I- who let them into the broadcast
probably
hear the other side
Make sense
Is. . . is this surprising?
i mean, the US was funding some far right groups until 2018 i think?
but like, obviously that doesnt justify it overblown by russian propaganda to justify a fucking invasion
the republicans?
oh this reporter actually being 5head, why didn't putin just go to the UN with all the evidence, cuz nobody would want nazis in control of countries again
Mm yeah I haven't heard anything about that here in the states. That being said the dude could probably call out like 20 different ways the US was awful towards Ukraine and supportive of Russia dating back to 2016
Question is this a government guy ???
yes
@copper monolith
Ah okay that makes absolute sense then
mm
Idk why they gotta make stuff up when historically the US has been incompetent at best and malicious at worst for almost 8 years now with handling Russia/Ukraine tensions
China really be walking oh landmines and eggshells
for sure, i mean other than to justify russia ofc
dont let russia join ur thing when they get kicked out of swift lol
Isn't what Russia doing absolutely contradictory to what China says "respect a nation's sovereignty"?
feels like china is that one friend to russia that owes them something, but doesn’t wanna piss everyone else off
china is probably doing it to ease tensions, they’re hypocritical enough that they probably actually couldnt care less
See, China actually has shit to lose though if things don't calm down
Russia really doesn't
yeah
Russia has a trash economy and all their chips are in oil and maybe hard metals. They can do whatever they want with hardly any long standing issues right now provided they don't mess with NATO
That's not the case for China
So if China can avoid watching all of it's customers dying in an unnecessary war, they'd probably rather do that
what benefits are given if a country joins NATO?
uh
Despite being wholly sympathetic in morals to what Russia's doing (if we look at their record of crimes)
only asking since russia seems to not want anyone else to join
most important thing atm is guaranteed protection if they get invaded
ah i see
oh damn
so he doesn't want other countries to join
Well the big takeaway is that they don't want any more of their bordering neighbors joining NATO
if a country joins NATO theyre basically out of reach for russia
yes
oh wow that's pretty significant
Some random country in South America joining NATO wouldn't matter to Russia, but Finland, Sweden, and the likes are really really close to Russia
In terms of geography*
yeah
they want these countries to stay out of the NATO as sort of a buffer
yeah I would prefer not to be invaded pls thanks
Yeah this ^^
Ty I was really struggling to articulate lol
ah that makes a lot of sense thanks
if a NATO country would be right next to their border they would most likely be scared that the NATO was too close to Moscow so they wish for the NATO to stay as far away as possible
yeah pretty much
at least this is what they mentioned on the news here
historically thats kinda been russias goal since the USSR
Nato is a defensive allience, but russia doesn't see it that way and see it as a major security threat
ah i see
thanks for answering, i usually ask my bf these things since he's into politics and has family in the area, but i didn't wanna overwhelm him
"End with the fucking chatter, it's time to help Ukraine"
https://imgur.com/a/jTgEzFN
i've learned a lot in the past few days tho, situation is rough
okay let's be honest here guys
the social media support for ukraine is both a blessing and a curse
people sharing what they are doing is definitely being picked up by the russian military as well
and it's also good as it shows the world what is happening and might make more countries join
A flat in Kharkiv, hit with rocket through the kitchen. No one was harmed.
https://imgur.com/a/w3lxQOM
quick flood twitter with screaming about WW3 again
make the russians cringe so hard they cant find any intel
I've heard that argument very often, but NATO is a defense pact. So the only reason to be scared would be, if you plan on attacking a NATO state.
minus 40 units of russian tech under Konotop
I know that, you know that, but apparently Russia thinks otherwise
they used the cringe to destroy the cringe
as Me57(Jon) clearly stated
NEW: Ukrainian officials tell Motherboard that radiation levels in Chernobyl have already exceeded safe levels, staff remain hostage, and they now fear potential 'planetary environmental disaster' if military activity continues in the area
BCS it is a strawman argument
WELLLLL
thats true, but it was formed under a pretty anti USSR context
"planetary environment disaster" is bs
ofc that was like 60 years ago
lol
50 year old russian mums punching the air rn
:(
lmao
rofl
wait so they're censoring facebook for censoring them? or is that too simple of an explanation?
fun groovy cool
"The Minister of Defense of Ukraine addressed the residents of the Russian Federation.
Especially - to the wives, mothers of Russian soldiers and officers.
In a few days of intervention in Ukraine, as many Russian troops will be destroyed as in two Chechen wars. Thousands. Thousands.
The ruler of Russia has become a murderer. The killer of not only Ukrainians, but also Russians.
We know that now some of the youngest boys are being urgently taken into the army all over Russia. That they are preparing to transfer recruits without minimum combat skills. That contractors are not told where they are actually going. And what awaits them.
Hide your loved ones if they are dear to you. Don't send them to certain death! They will be killed from every window in every Ukrainian city.
Step out in the streets. Demand to stop the war. Demand to withdraw the Russian army from Ukraine.
Do not be afraid! The truth is on your side. Now you can still change everything so as not to regret later.
When all information about the Kremlin's war crimes is revealed, your loved ones will be very grateful to you. "
They [Russia] have unreliable state media sources spreading false information on Facebook. Facebook fact checks those statements and found many to be false. Russia gets mad and asks Facebook to stop fact checking their news outlets and Facebook refuses, kinda. So Russia bans the platform from their country altogether in retaliation.
i'd say it's working, haven't seen much misinformation yet
the most unbelievable part of that is facebook fact checking lmao
tru
Yeahh, and I mean technically Facebook relies on people to report misinformation, which then causes it to go under review
And then someone at Facebook determines if it's false info or not iirc
But the funny thing is that Facebook usually doesn't remove false information, they just put a little tag at the bottom saying that it's incorrect
lol
So unless the media itself broke TOS, it wouldn't be removed in theory
probably decided to beef it up then given the circumstances
Unless Zucc grew a spine and or soul and decided to actively combat Russian propoganda but historically speaking....
nah
It was probably his staff, not Zucc himself
well wasn't there a lawsuit about misinformation on facebook? did they face any consequences from that?
no more money to be made, and their dirty laundrys now out in public, so all the men in suits are cutting ties with Russia
zucc is incabable of growing a soul
if any company cuts ties with russia or a russian company they're not doing it because they're "deeply affected by the situation", it's a money move
there's a lot of misinformation on both sides tbh (wrong tag)
for sure
Yes they did get handed a lawsuit for their misinformation practices but I'd have to check sources to find out which countries actually got them into real trouble
yeah, as with anything
its not really a case of sides as much as it is just that misinformation will exist anywhere
well i mean tbf propaganda is a pretty one sided thing
ofc. Just saying bcs. russia is actively spreading misinformation for propaganda means
Also friendly remembly: no one is immune to propoganda
From any side on any message or topic, everyone's susceptible
true that
ofc. thats why it is important to fact check stuff, esp. in context of a crisis
yup
I'll be honest, ukraine is guilty of that too at times
But for Russia?
the lies seem almost infinite
even if theres a pretty clear right and wrong side, reality is never cut and dry
Also not trying to go off topic, just wanted to drop these here for context on the previous comments about Facebook
https://www.npr.org/2021/10/04/1042921981/facebook-whistleblower-renewing-scrutiny-of-social-media-giant

as i mentioned above
the US is certainly guilty lmao
This is the case for like every conflict they're involved in
yup for sure
no worries, thanks
every country spreads propaganda when they’re at war, that’s hardly anything new
Shoutout to the time the former US president illegally withheld Ukraine military aid that was already set aside for them by Congress
yep, the only new thing is that we have the internet now
And TV
Yup yupp
We can make info travel far across the world from the comfort of our homes
My grandparents sent me a video about Ukraine published by NTV (Gazprom affiliate) two months ago and oh boy, there were so many lies in there
didnt know that, but not surprised
It's wild considering that's what his first impeachment offense was about
|| TW: SLIGHT INJURIES, HELD IN HOSTAGE ||
|| Russian troop, taken hostage, calls his parents at home. As he states, they didn't know what they were doing, they were just sent to Ukraine ||
||https://imgur.com/a/2F1oPtB ||
sadly no subtitles, vid just in
damn
Interesting
the point was not propaganda alone, but also the spread of misinformation, which doesn't need to be intentional to cause harm
Yeahh, I can see what you mean by that
misinformation is a very common tactic too, just look at d day and the invasion of italy
When in doubt: ask for sources
i mean propaganda is most effective when people believe it and spread it themselves
And if you're still unsure, verify those sources against other news sources
I hope they‘re treating them well
Yeah, I saw a Russian military ambulance delivering wounded soldiers to a Ukrainian hospital
that was a thing ^
what i find a bit questionable is, that verified journalists should know how to fact check, seem to spread this misinformation as well
What are the latest updates?
I already had several posts that i fact checked in minutes and found to be misinfo, without working in the field for years
Mhm, but unfortunately there's too many news companies that operate based on profit and engagement rather than journalistic integrity
^
cough the sun cough
also talking about freelance correspondents
Ahh yeahh
The sun suuuuucks
the sun is fucking horrendous
also Bild [axel springer sucks]
Ukraine 24 livestream, Kyiv
the reporters are working even underground
https://imgur.com/a/XV7lRHW
that looks like a greenscreen so bad
That's what I'm wondering
attack on kyiv
how so
does seem like so, but it isn't
maybe the finland sweden threat is recent news to you?
idk thats the only thing I can think of
Lighting looks off, i think it is, maybe hiding actual location?
I was thinking that
Yeah this sounds new
could be for security reasons?
It's been a few hours since I checked in here
maybe
Small insert on POW topic - as far as i saw, both sides treating their POWs pretty well. At least i never saw profs of opposite so far.
yeah so russia threatened finland and sweden if they were to join NATO blah blah blah
russia basically threatened force if sweden and finland join NATO
Jesus
Yeah the biggest things are the invasion of Kyiv - where Zelenskyy is staying in spite of the invasion - and Russia making threats against Sweden and Finland if they try to join NATO
theres probably a few links above somewhere if you want sources
Yeah that
The fucking gall of this man
we're living in the tilting point of time lads
I love living through major historical events
I wonder, just how much of the Russian military doesn’t know what they’re being sent for?
seems like most of them
"grandpa what did you do during the russia-ukraine war?"
"i talked about it on discord" 🗿
death, destruction, and the imminent threat of global war 😃😃😃
🗿
From what's been gathered, most of them say the same thing: they were told that ukraine was going to attack and were sent in
lmfao oh god
🗿
on god
Yeah, and if more of them learn whats going on, i feel like that could push more of the possibility of the military turning back on Russia.
im not having kids so they dont think im fucking embarrassing
Good plan
By russia i mean Putin and his corrupt gov officials and stuff
Some already are: there's been instances of troops leaving tech behind, retreating without command
Ah i see, i wonder what the likelihood of a Russian coup or something like that would be with all this
True
Well, idk about a whole organized coup but there are already cases of soldiers surrendering to Ukraine because they didn't wanna kill anyone
As i see i see
Yoooo the France method?
I heard about the Russian platoon that surrendered as well
There's also been mentions of people signing up for the Ukraine army from Russia, as well as protests taking place in large Russian cities. Suffice to say, there is some level of pushback, but not everyone's agenda is gonna like up exactly
Not the being against killing, the surrendering
I feel like soldiers who turn back to their country while laying down arms without command will risk much worse than the war
I don't know this for certain
The french out here doing it both ways
also in bulgaria
i dont know if thats an indicator of how likely a coup is tho
Honestly I'm just grateful to see any amount of pushback from Russia's side
Those brave people
Yeah, i agree with you there, coups are often pretty messy and can lead to years of bloody conflict within the country as well
I'd imagine it would be incredibly hard to organize at a large enough scale
same, especially without being instantly crushed
Also, how’s the defense in Kyiv going?
russia arent taking too kindly to the mere thought of finland joining NATO, let alone a coup to overthrow putin
https://twitter.com/YourAnonTV/status/1497273131567828992?cxt=HHwWgMCyrd7-sMcpAAAA
About 2 hours ago, unsure if true
oh my
Woah, the entire thing
what is it?
Plus you know for a damn fact that they'd move Putin and his allies to some remote area away from any danger

isnt this the first time "anonymous" has done anything serious for a long while?
aww it didnt embed correctly
what was the sheet of
well yeah for sure
it seems it's a sheet of personal accounts taken from the mil ru website
anyone can be anonymous, it's not a group of specific people
yeah thats why i used quotes
oh
oh ok
i meant anyone using the name anonymous lol
I wonder if this group would be able to hack into communication systems
also as much as a coup would be great and all, it'd have to be in the right hands
^
^^^
its real easy for that shit to go badly, especially with bad organisation
Yeah, and it can leave a country with years of internal war as well
and yeah, id love to see it happen and go well
there is a power outage on kyiv? anyone know whether russia managed to get hold of power plants? been at work until last hour
Lemme see if the live feed will load
That is a fake.
but idk how realistic that is tbh
The power is still on
the nuclear plants tho..
They took remains of Chernobyl by coming from Belarus
The live feed from the Washington Post is down now, so i dunno
pretty much holding workers hostage
ah ok, just wanted to check the cam on yt and it said "shut off bcs. of power outage"
Ooh i see, i wonder what actually turned the footage off
tbf it could just be something relatively minor
True
The Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security informs ✅
‼️ Caution, fake: the Russian army destroyed the thermal power plant in Kyiv‼️
In fact, TPP-6 is operating normally, the State Emergency Service confirmed the information.
Earlier, 5 explosions took place near the Kyiv TPP.
this is the official message
the power is still there
Ah alright, that’s good to hear
Excellent
In Moscow TOPOL-M missile system has been spotted. A column of 5 missile sets were seen on the Moscow Ring Road.
#war #ukraine #moscow https://t.co/IU4tfzXyoS
thanks for clarification
Oh shit
just been on to this. THis are Tropol-M ICBM's.
whats an ICMB
Inter-Continental-Ballistic-Missile
whats that used for
oh my bad
Sending missiles to other continents
oh
Long range big explosion, much destructive power
Think a spaceship that comes back down with a lot of explosives
