Just finished tactician mode. Final fight was hard but not in the fun way

final fight was really easy because funny globe of invulnerability

that and some dimension doors and boom, relatively easy win

just make sure that ||you distract the mindflayers somehow, else they stun ya||

but because I (major endgame/final boss spoilers spoilers) ||made my Tav became a mindflayer, he got 4 attacks a turn as a barbarian, and was eviscerating basically everything cause funny perma mind sanctuary||

Igner the Smart did well in my tactican run, only edged out by Laezel cause funny githyanki racial bonuses as fighter

I would’ve started with bard purely because with jack of all trades you wouldn’t specialized in combat with anything in particular, so you could at least try to talk your way out of things

But for grabbing next, barbarian does give you rage for at least halved physical damage but no spells while raging

Reason I didn't, I went fighter solely so id have prof with everything

It was that or barb, but decided fighter at the time and its worked super well

Then I went cleric, cuz I wanted healing capabilities and light domains Warding Flare

Cleric is also one of the few level one subclass classes

I knew going in id prob take cleric early, and light felt the best cuz disadvantage is good anytime in the campaign

Yes act 1 astarion is a bastard and uses and manipulates Tav for his safety, fool on us for falling for it, but when you get his approval high he opens up and trusts you more as an ally and doesn’t need to use anyone

Anyway that’s my spoiler free rant about astarion. In my next playthrough I’m 100% romancing Gale because he is the right choice he has a cat and a library and act 2 romance spoiler || conjured us into celestial beings to fuck ||what girlies doesn’t want that

Started a new playthrough. I pushed the spider matriarch into the underdark hole to kill it. Also interrupted Raphael’s first encounter, trying to get his armor in act 1

So they only leave if you actively participated in tiefling slaughter. If you want to keep them but also leave minthara available you basically need to ignore the entire goblin camp for all of act 1. Don’t side with either faction

They’ll unfortunately still kill all the tieflings eventually but you won’t have participated which they’re ok with

For anyone doing some warlock multi class stuff:
the deepened pact feature of the Pact of the blade (which gives you an extra attack with your pact weapon) stacks the extra attack from other classes. Extra attacks don’t stack, but that one’s not technically even though it is. So if you take at least 5 warlock/5 paladin or 6 bard with college of swords, you can just have 3 attacks. If you do the first spread you could grab 2 fighter for action surge and more attacks

I’m sure it’s not intentional that you can do this. But if you interrupt his initial conversation with you (like attacking him with a character not stuck in the cutscene), the only place he’ll show up again to talk about it is going to the mountain pass (past the githyanki squad). If you cast Silence on him no one can talk while you just wail on him. Toggle non-lethal since that’s the only way to knock him out. You can keep hitting him unconscious while the silence is up to farm money and booze

Hell I even looked on the wiki if there really is just not much to do and yeah I was correct

so now that ive died horridly to myrkuls avatar in my honor mode run, Ive decided to start anew, and I will be trying to create the most powerful party known to man

my Tav/Durge will be a storm domain/tempest sorcerer, and attempt to literally oneshot things

Astarion will become the most powerful archer known to man and obliterate armies with only a few arrows, with the powers of ranger and rogue

Lazeal will become a powerful fighter, thats kinda it lol

and Karlach will become an unstoppable monk, known only as the stronk
