The browser version of PoB is impossible to copy-paste into, at least for me

Can't say I've looked much at PoB, would kind of expect it to run fine enough under Wine. VMs are probably hard due to 3D acceleration.
I know it would, it's just that setting up stuff like that is always going to take multiple hours of involved troubleshooting

has steam poe updated for macos the game's screen changed from heist to echoes and stills remains broken on launch
and there hasn't been a updated notification on downloads

@dull oxide PoE on Steam uses the same data file repository and gets executable patches at the same rate as macOS Standalone and PC versions.
The patch on macOS Steam will be available at the same moment as it will on PC Steam.
(give or take some tiny amount of time between when the repositories are made available)

Town instances tend to be filled to whatever handful capacity they have, so gateways won't matter much at all.

i always pull the settings to down on all my steam games

This league start there is some additional problems with disconnects, primarily in towns.
with war thunder i did something to stop it from crashing mid matches but now it just glitches out after a few matches

Dynamic resolution draws at a smaller resolution to keep framerate good, so it's an option you probably want.

Engine multithreading lets the game use more of your CPU cores, so also good on.

try a server region where local time is 4am-7am for fewer people

@versed coyote The patcher (and game) does not support the M1 platform natively yet, and the code cannot be run through the Rosetta 2 translation layer.

Ah, Steam doesn't have Apple Silicon executables either so it tries running the translation layer and fails.

I'm going to be perfectly frank with you and tell you: this isn't going to work out. You're trying to run this game on a computer with an 8 year old mid-range laptop graphics card

i was thinking of probably a dominion blow build that consumes enemies fast and makes a soldier quickly with herald of purity

didn't had trouble with the groups of enemies cuz myt minions were killing them fast
but now i have trouble with the enemies size on act 6 and lack of life or life regen and im dying in 2 seconds now before the -30 res
also audio was breaking or cutting off whenever i used a channelling skill
What theyโre trying to say is that your computer simply isnโt powerful enough - there is no choice of build here that isnโt going to run at 10fps or worse

you know when you all 3 said it wasn't going to work well i got it to work anyway by changing some things in the graphic settings and in big groups or medium sizes of enemies i can still play with close to both 20,30 and 40 fps
so im currently at act 7 with a necro of lvl 59 and 2,3k life with 425 es
also levels now load faster
except for towns which take moments cuz of the amount of people and also because of their bright cosmetics but it loads
Have u guys tried using nvidia geforce now service? Lets u play on their systems and streams the game as video so the performance only depends on your netspeed and also its free with a bit of wait time to get servers
how do i use PoB on mac
So I have tried Parallels, Crossover, and the Mac client on M1 with no luck. So far the only thing that has managed to work is GeForce Now. Obviously that comes with issues of latency and all that.

Looks like PoB does run on Crossover, so that's neat.
It does cost money after the 14 day trial, so that's probably not worth it. But it's possible that https://pob.party will be updated by then.

@proud igloo it is done i reached endgame and unlocked the act 10 kitava achievement and im not having trouble with big groups in maps
although it only lags when a certain ritual starts to degen my minons in 1 place unless i moved them out then is ok
so not bad for a 8 year old mac i can still finish the game as usual

I changed dinamic culling enabled and texture filtering to 16x and that was it
โฆ uh, that doesn't make any sense
dynamic culling doesn't affect performance outside of certain very busy scenarios, and 16x filtering is the most costly option
anisotropic filtering is pretty cheap, so I'm guessing dynamic filtering was just good enough to keep your frames up

Hi all, is it possible to change game resolution in osx version?
There's a fixed resolution scaling option in the options to have it render the 3D bits at a lower resolution, keeping the UI crisp.
Very handy if you've got a retina screen and want to play in more interactive framerates ๐
My AMD Radeon Pro 5500M 8G - on retina can't work normally, but in windows with 1900 resolution work pretty well

@white pine The patcher seems to still be hosed indeed. You may want to report this on the forum.
As a workaround after doing that, you may want to consider running the Steam version, as that doesn't use the patcher.

Oh? The M1 is hosed for both Standalone and Steam.
The only solution for those at the moment is running the PC version in Crossover.
It's on the macOS Known Issues list and they're very aware of it.
Got around filing a bug report of my own at least, so that's something.

No idea, but I've seen bug reports for Awakened PoE Trade on Linux, so it might be a bit portable.

Apparently the version he has posted isn't the most recent, they have a short explanation of how to get the latest version through github but I have no idea how to do that so
Turns out i'm dumb, i still had the old fork installed so I deleted everything PoB related and reinstalled and it works perfectly now
there is a bug on joining and not being able to do any skills or abiliies when fighting

The program runs on Linux somehow and it's Electron-based so it could arguably be ported. It's the macOS-specific things that may affect how well it would interface with PoE.
I forget if you can run PoE "fullscreen", but if it's on one of those single-app desktops, popping an overlay may be hard or impossible due to how macOS works.
It could technically probably work if you play windowed on the main desktop, but it would likely require the author or someone else to attempt it.

i cant seem to find any reports on my problem with actual solutions..
basically my problem is that i dont have a Light Radius in any dungeons i enter. I thought it was a feature until i saw some Streamers playing the game...
I posted on the forums a little while ago but havent gotten a response. Old forums tell me to set shadows to OFF but i cant find that setting.
i also am not using any passives that would affect Radius

commands often bugged out when i can check my inventory or do any skills
so i have to press I before walking
and then check my skills before walking after teleporting to hideout
the commands are broken you can't even put the menu up by pressing escape
it just makes a noise as if there is no commands

If your HUD is visible but the rest of the screen is black, that sounds similar to a problem people have been having due to some weird texture loading bugs happening currently
My guess would be NaNs in postprocessing.
Remember the black square effect that some people had with some MTX the other league? That was probably a similar thing.

Common to the mechanics mentioned before is that there's some amount of postprocessing involved in each.
Incursion has the radial blur, Breach has the bitcrush, heaven knows what Delirium has but I'm sure it's making stuff grey?
It could be something completely different of course like lighting, but UI tends to be composited on top of any such shenanigans.
i can see my game, its just extremely dark, so it isnt completely black. I can see my HUD, everything runs fine, its just that the light radius is the only thing missing. Up until now I've just been playing on max monitor brightness

then you have to go through the annoyance of lots of people in 1 place and get disconnected and repeat 7 times till your character model and everyone else loads in and press inventory to check your commands don't get broken before you can move and restart again if they are, then wait till you get 45 fps as max na wait the same when you are in your hideout as well as the minions and hope you don't get server crashed while waiting
and also hope you don't get server crashed in the first map you put
well that sounds like ISP/Internet or Server issues, have you tried selecting different server ?

The recent texture streaming improvements has extremely low-res placeholder textures always loaded, and will stream in high-res textures if space and time allows.
If you're experiencing scenarios where they never do, you may have to turn down your settings or maybe file a bug report on whether it's intended to be the way you observe.
Where is the proper place to file a bug report?
The bug reports forum has a Mac Client tag, so likely there.

hello, i just downloaded POE a few weeks ago and i created 2 characters. Only 1 character loads, but the 2nd character won't load for some reason (I try to click on the maps, inventory, etc. and it all works.). Everything works fine except I don't see my 2nd character load at all...any ideas?

to be honest with your setup you should be happy that game starts at all
imo if you rly want 2 play PoE your best bet would be installing Windows on 2nd hard drive or something and getting some uptodate drivers for that GPU

Helps a wee bit with VRAM pressure from the framebuffers, but primary value is a severe reduction in fill rate needed.

I would have my hopes for a Standalone installation more, as Steam to my knowledge isn't universal yet.
No idea if Valve is making any progress on that.
In any way, I'm sure there'll be a Apple Silicon client available when they have something working that's worth giving out to regular users.
The reason that the flavour of Steam matters is that programs launched from software that isn't universal will run in emulated mode as well. The Firefox folks had trouble with their auto-update as their new version would be launched as emulated x86_64 despite having arm64 code.

I play on Windows, but have an ancient old MBP that won't launch the game, and a stupidly overpowered Hackintosh that can run the game.
Depends on the model of your machine, but there's probably a higher chance of enjoyment if it has a discrete graphics chip, but give it a try and see.

It just starts installing another copy of that file for some reason when I right click
they haven't fixed the dark screen bug
and the crashes when you make a new character with the dark screen bug are constant
thus making a new character for a new build impossible

On x86_64 the original Standalone patcher should still run assuming that your CPU is capable of running it, and there's always Steam.

at least sirus's arena does not have that problem for good
plus some maps have that problem as well

the main menu also has the blur/dark screen bug so is annoying that you can't see the characters and nee to clik around to see which one you going for but also increases the chances of your pc getting frozen for cliking too much

@signal cloak For Intel-based Macs you may either download the standalone installer from the original announcement about the experimental client (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2936392), or install it via macOS Steam.
For Apple Silicon (M1) Macs, there is currently no native Path of Exile client as GGG are still porting it to the platform and Apple's emulation of x64 executables is not capable of handling PoE's instruction use.
If you're on a M1, some people report some success using the Windows client via Crossover, but I cannot attest to that.

althought one of them got pissed about how other people were changing his ideas and gear he suggested before
and then another said too many people were suggesting many gears over others
that has always been in the game and people thought their files were corrupted
it affects delirium incursion and some syndicates raids badly
plus some maps like coves
it's for all maps for me :,,)

just hope it doesn't affect sirus's arena

There's a bunch of attempts to run it on macOS. Some use Wine, some seems to have some sort of custom frontend.
Some of them are in channel pins, not sure how well they work currently.
is there no easy way.. all i want to do is check out this beginner build's skill tree ๐ฆ
It's a bit tricky as PoB is a very Windows:y program to begin with, and work on cross-platform implementations is trickling.
pob.party used to be a nice browser implementation, but doesn't seem to do imports well at all.
i think one of the comments there has even easier solution for this

Yeah there was a recent change in PoB where they take command line arguments, which was originally unimplemented in pobfrontend. I added support last week so when aspel merges it should work again. AFAIK PoB are shortly going to introduce some further breaking changes to the source tree layout, though, so it might break again then. ๐

it's just opening up in a tiny window.
I forget if it's there, but I think the maximize button puts it fullscreen on another desktop, as is customary on the platform.
Note that there's a resolution scaling slider to cut it down to a more reasonable resolution, but if you're on integrated graphics, it's probably not going to run well in the first place.
Got no idea what SKUs there are for that vintage, as there's a whole bunch.

Two aspects to it really. Most macs are a bit potato when it comes to hardware, and the client in general has some rough edges.
Ran OK as far as I could tell on my Hackintosh, but that's stupidly overpowered compared to most actual macs.
Client is still "experimental", so set expectations accordingly.

bug triage must be prioritizing more complicated internal problems over critical usability defects. Things like the cursor image or the escape key, presumably aren't interfering with testing other systems... i.e. it's very much a development build and not a "beta" intended for public testing... as if they were behind schedule and resolved to release whatever they had, even if it's virtually unusable.
I'm wondering if M1 has upended things, or if they're considering the viability of combining the iOS effort, considering that Xcode has a "actually, be a Mac App" checkbox for iOS projects

Hi, I'm new to POE (since I downloaded it today), and this is all I see on my screen every time I start the game. I am still at the very beginning. I have seen in earlier discussions that other people also have this problem but I haven't seen a solution yet. I am on Macbook Pro, I have Catalina 10.15 and I have the rest of my specs above the recommended. I really want to try the game out cause I really love Diablo like games. Any help is appreciated.

What you're seeing is part of one of the renderpasses (bloom, whatever) that normally is composited with the rest of the targets that make up the regular game view. Something's fucky with how the Vulkan renderer maps onto your hardware and Metal. I don't recall if reports on it has been made and whether there's been any response on it.

boot camp is basically a dual boot with windows installed on your mac. so you can boot up with mac or windows

PoE runs fine on BootCamp for me. The Mac gets unusually hot and the fan spins up. But this is normal for certain "MacBookPro "s as soon as they are allowed to perform :-). And BootCamp is really easy to set up ๐

It's regular Windows on the hardware that your Mac happens to have, not sure if the driver situation is good but it's about the same as a PC with the same specs.
Upcoming 3.13.2 patch notes preview has this among other notes:
Owners of M1 Macs can now play Path of Exile through Rosetta, with minimal impact on performance. A native version will be available in a future update.
Wonder if this patch will have much of an effect on non-m1 macs
Various renderer systems have been made roughly 15-20% faster, which doesn't necessarily translate to a performance improvement for all users but anecdotally it seems like it's around 5% faster on average for us.

Assuming drivers in Boot camp land are better than they were last I touched it in the dark ages, Windows is probably the superior place to play if you can spare the space and effort for the dual boot.

GGG devs are gosh-darn wizards at making something so dense and dynamic as PoE run so well on such a variety of situations.
harbinger is poor density, there are more often situations with multiple times density of harbingers and no lag
Harbinger in valdos is easily 700-800 mobs densely packed what other situation has multiple times that
It has both a lot of overlapping auras and a lot of overlapping blended visuals.
And unlike whatever super-juiced content particular peeps may be running, Valdo harbies are probably quite commonly encountered among regular players as well.
there is 100 mobs at best because there is something called you kill mobs and not watch them
moreover harbingers is a lag fest the second you proc them, so no mob at all whatsoever
just the visuals overlapping and poor optimisation into it

The tech patch in September and the texture streaming patch early this league put in a ton of fundamental work for better asset streaming.

@proper zenith i'm in a 30 person zoom session, chrome, safari all open.. settings are on defaults (which looks like a mixture of low to high) .. running around the coast (newbie area) i'm getting 118-120fps, i was playing windowed mode using a belkin dock hooked up to a 3440x1440 monitor using about 1/3 the screen realestate

keep in mind, this is the newbie area and i dont have any skillgems etc i didnt play this league so i cant test a high-effect scenario... also, i dont see any way to run fullscreen or set a resolution in-game
Fullscreen I believe should be with the usual keys/button to maximize a program by platform conventions. Resolution is native but there's a slider for resolution scaling for when you want to render internally at a lower res.
Damn that sounds good, yea there should be a "dynamic resolution" slider or something, also you cant really play in fullscreen without rebinding ESC
Curious to see how endgame and mapping is for others, and yea all g i dont expect you to level a whole character just to test it lol. i imagine its a lot better judging by how much better twilight strand is (with other programs open even) than on my 2015 mbp ๐

cranked up some settings, fullscreen 3440x1440 not doing anything 80fps
looks like the "resolution factor" is the big culprit on performance vs visual quality... it defaults to off, and i have some jagged edges but 120fps.. if i turn it on, and crank it up, 80fps no jaggeds
(again, this is 3440x1440......)
I don't remember which way the slider goes, but it renders the game 3D internally at a fraction of the full resolution similar to how you have dynamic resolution on PC to sustain framerate when things end up heavy, while UI is kept crisp.
i think the take home is that it easily runs well enough to play, assuming it all doesnt fall apart when you're in maps with a million effects... i didnt notice drops in areas with some basic fire and explosions
makes me sad that dota doesnt run better, tbh lol
80 fps, on a laptop using integrated graphics to drive a ~4K display, is crazypants. I would never have expected it to run that well

Added automation to remove old minimap and shader data. This process occurs during the Grinding Gear Games logo video upon launch and may take some time. Old minimap and shader data will typically be cleared once per league in the future.

Just the occasional culling every now and then when GGG feels it's time.
Depends a bit on what they consider old. For shaders it caches all the resulting shaders from material combinations and when a combination goes out of use due to changes in the materials or renderer, the old shaders still linger and make file lookup slow.
Similarly there's a lot of cached minimap tiles that can build up over time, but that I don't know the format of so I can't elaborate more.
"once per league" sounds like a good time to purge old stuff as that's typically when big changes happen.
well it looked before like any drived update would invalidate old shaders anyway

There's two types of shader caches, one for the shader bytecode which is device/driver independent, and program/pipeline binary caches, which are super tied to the driver.
The cost with the former is the game having to sift around the materials and glue little text fragments together, while for the latter it's the result of the GPU driver compiling the former into whatever the GPU actually wants.
so i can see now i blurred maps at the cost of desynch in the middle of blight maps making it impossible to complete at the start

Runs pretty well, need to check the framerate and thermals once. Yeah gets a bit hot.

Iโm on m1 mbp 16gb unified. Only thing I do differently than on Pc is wait a few seconds on entering a new area. Nearly got got by some invisible (see: not rendered out) enemies before changing my behavior. Into red maps, havenโt tested delirium at all yet. Good to have for on the go but if Iโm home, probably sticking it out with the Pc

A patch the other week stripped out all the AVX/AVX2 uses in PoE to enable the x86_64 build to run translated via Rosetta 2.
As rubberduck says, a native version is WIP as that is not as "easy".
It's going to be interesting to see how they are going to approach Steam, as last I heard from someone versed in macOS development, the platform gets a bit cranky when a launching program (in this case Steam) runs emulated.
(in this case Firefox, where the new fat build updated from a previously x86_64 Firefox would keep running emulated until freshly started from the OS)
It's a known issue, I believe you can rebind it to some other key to keep using the in-game functionality it has.

You can either download it via Steam or by downloading the Standalone installer from the website, but I don't know if that's fully cleansed of silly instructions yet.
It will in either case run emulated with Rosetta 2 until they make a native Apple Silicon build of it.

Depends a bit on how the Windows drivers for the onboard GPU is in Bootcamp, but probably.
i guess it will get performance boost because on linux with same machine(hackintosh) it is performing better than windows
I'm using GeForce Now to play POE and it works brilliantly.
Free version is an hour per session but fine for now.

On performance, I actually ran a map on my Hackintosh today, surprisingly smooth.
i7 8700K, AMD Radeon RX 5700XT, lousy HP Midline 2TB spinning rust HDD; sustained 1920x1200 @ 60 FPS without any hiccups in an alch-n-go:d white map running BF/BB.
Primary annoyances was things I'm used to from my Windows machine like not being able to bind the key left of 1 to Flame Dash; not having my usual filter copied over, and the even-smaller-than-Windows mouse cursor that made it incredibly easy to lose it in the explosions.
(on Windows I run YoloMouse to replace it with a humongous XOR-coloured arrow as stock cursor is hard to follow)
The muscle memory pressing of Esc also bit me a few times but I could complete the map without deaths at least ๐
Well atm I am struggling with performance on my 7700k @4.7 with RTX 2070S and M2 SSD, as influence packs spawning pin my CPU to 100% for a sec W10 ofc
For anyone on an old MacbookPro who was having the PoE installer crash due to not being compatible, the incompatible code was stripped out to make the game work on the new chipset M1s, it would seem, and now I can install PoE on my 2012 MBP! Downloading the 30GB install files right now. I'll report back on performance. Yes, it's a 2012 model, but it's the 2.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1 GB gfx card. It used to run wineskin PoE just fine before that project was scrapped. Again, I'll report back.

Reporting back! So I just played through killing Hillock, so not anything too taxing graphically. It was very smooth. I don't remember the terminal command to show FPS, but this was better than wineskin ever was. That said, there was a lot of visible draw-in of terrain and creatures (they show up as big sold color blocks for a few seconds, and then the textures appear on them). Lioneye's watch was very bad at first, but it all calmed down after a few seconds. I think for casual play this is going to be very viable on my ancient rig ๐

Okay, so 17 FPS in lioneye's watch and 25 FPS (peaked at 27) playing along the shore. Characters on screen didn't seem to affect FPS at all, but there were dips when the water loaded in. I also died instantly starting a trial before any of the enemies appeared, though there was no FPS dip so ???
Have you turned down everything 2 Low ?
Turning down the settings from default doesnโt seem to have changed anything.
Performance-wise, I mean. The game looks a lot worse.
Well that would mean you are CPU limited more than GPU limited, as for invisible mobs your PC just didnt compile shaders on time so next time you see those mobs they should be there.
I'm not certain that it's just material loading and compilation that's a bottleneck for fully missing assets, could be the actual fixed/skinned mesh that's not resident yet either. I'm sure GGG knows ๐
Dumb question: did that machine come with an SSD, or have you installed one? Performance on machines with mechanical hard drives has always been poor

There's an experimental version for macOS since late 2020, running on the PC realms and updating at the same pace as the Windows version does.
It's available through either Steam or a Standalone installer, much like on Windows.
It runs on both x86_64-based machines and Apple Silicon (M1) via Rosetta 2 translation.
There's some info in the channel pins.
Many Macs tend to be a bit underspecced, especially laptops, but it runs the Vulkan renderer on top of Apple's Metal.
As for performance compared to running Windows on the same hardware via Bootcamp, not really sure if there's much data on that.

The standalone client auto-updates when starting. Steam updates like Steam normally does.
You cannot get into the client without it having updated itself, it's fully automagic.
What version does it say it is in the lower right corner?

Gah, I don't have any Mac available currently to check anything, but it's possible that the patch has not been made available if your updater is working as it should.

There's two places where your PoE installation goes, the initial launcher in /Applications and the bulk of the game in ~/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile.

It may be somewhere under ~/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile.

The Dynamic Resolution slider in Options -> Graphics adjusts how much smaller the internal render resolution is vs. your native resolution.

I believe the external resolution is restricted by what the display is configured as by the OS, but I guess you mean that it'd be a bit more obvious what the actual 3D resolution becomes?

I saw a thread discussing the resolution drop down menu possibility on the forums, so fingers crossed the devs consider it at some point
I saw in the Forum that there are/were a few people having the issue that ingame areas like caves and tunnel are completely black when playing on mac

Increased the size of the in-game cursor.
Needed a magnifying glass in 4K before, that's for sure ๐
Since latest patch, my M1 MBA went from 40-55 fps on low settings to 15-20. Most of the textures are just fucked. Large squares of terrain are black, or flickering at all times. None of the settings seems to rectify it.

You could try checking for some external GPU via Thunderbolt but make sure that Mac supports it first
But yeah Games need hardware 2 run
no software magic can jump over that even Apple
Oh and make sure your are not overheating as that tanks performance to zero
Story seems to reflect the perf of my Hackintosh which currently only has integrated UHD Graphics 630. It's rofltastic and needs everything in potatovision to have like 20 fps.
I have both dynamic culling and dynamic resolution both checked, with the resolution slider all the way to the left
Best i can get is 30 fps with minimal action on screen, average about 20 actually running maps, and around 10 when insane shit like harbingers or conqueror mobs spawn

Not more than usual, it's been worse on Windows for a league or two for me.
well i cna't play on the native mac with very long screens but i been able to play with geforce with the only trade off being not longer able to trade
althought i did make some tradings before i wasn't able to play anymore
also i finally found the answer to that 1 time i asked what happened to all the templars in act 5 after beating innocence and instead of being reanimated with horns instead they all now changed their belief for kitava "Under the influence of Kitava, Templars in Oriath are turned into to mad and cultist versions."
u can still use the trade in geforce now. First, click the buy point, it will pop a chrome window, then you can click the trade do whatever you want

Hey guys, I've just started playing on my mac m1, can anyone tell me where is the trade market button? I used to play on ps4 before and there was a Trade Market board at the first waypoint but I'm not finding it on mac version and also not on menu either!
The trade board you're used to is a console-only thing. On PC (and thus mac) there's an official trade site on which you may search for items with way more granularity than on the PS4.
When you find an item you want, you copy a pre-filled whisper message from the trade site and paste it into the chat window of the game client, asking a player if you may buy their thing.
If they invite you to a party, you may teleport over to their hideout, they open a trade, you put in the currency and verify that the item is the one you want, and accept, responding "ty" if you're polite ๐

You may list items for trade if you have premium stash tabs made public, setting prices by rightclicking on items in the tabs, or setting a common price for the whole tab.
There's also a forum for manual listings that drives the trade site if you don't have the tabs.

Hey guys, does anybody know if PoE runs well on M1 chip (MB air 2020)? Is the game playable?
There has been some experiences shared in the past I think, channel search might get you something.
It should be able to launch these days at least after the instruction set fixes.
It works, as in it boots, campaign is survivable (until nerf league lmao) but mapping + is not great performance wise, even bootcamp was better for me, and unrivalled on PC unfortunately
if your machine can run Boot Camp, it isn't a M1 system
I have an M1, and a 2019 MBP.
@stable aurora I've been running it on my MBP 16BG M1 and have had no issues. The fan doesn't even come on after hours of play. Everything is smooth except for a bit of stuttering when entering a new area.
I've been playing on my MBP 8GB M1 for last 2 weeks and it's running smooth like butter, for full disclosure I've set all the possible settings in graphic section to low or medium.
Also got myself a wired mouse to make sure wireless mouse do not screw me over on a intense fight lol
True that, apple hasn't updated bootcamp for m1 yet.
I wonder if they ever could, would be quite some work with MS needed to run on the Apple Silicon flavour of ARM64.
Linux peeps had to do a fair bit of wrangling and reverse engineering to get going on the M1.
ARM Windows runs flawlessly in Parallels, actually. But it doesn't run on bare metal, and I have my doubts that either Apple or Microsoft would be willing to put in the effort to make that happen
In a lot of ways, virtualizing it is the better solution anyway ๐
Yeah, that's the thing, a VM has nice and comfy isolation from the horrors of bring-up and drivers.
Not getting much in the way of graphics virtualized, of course.
Current versions of Parallels have full DX11 support. I don't know about PoE but a lot of games run fine in that environment, even with the slower Windows x86 translation
That's neat, so used to relative clownware like VirtualBox whose 2D and 3D bits are still extremely wobbly.
ARM Windows has x86 emulation. Parallels on M1 will run either edition of Windows

In general, the integrated GPU and limited thermal capacity of Airs tends to be a bit sub-par for PoE. It might run, but probably not well.
I've got a 2018 Air. It'll "run" (as in, the game client will launch and render graphics), but it's too slow to consider playable. No great surprise given the dinky little integrated GPU on those systems
Works pretty good on the MBA if you can ignore the aluminium body heating up

but you are restricted to play for 1 hour per play and it runs out quick so must be speedrunning a lot and will sometimes run out mid boss fights
and depending on internet it will be hell or being lagged like being unplayable

@proud igloo a little advice in the buggy and broken launcher of poe macOS after the installer ended Iโm stuck at 100% and the launch button does not glow to mean is finished
and it also stuck at 0.76 speed of ms and the 23.45/out of 23.45 gb
and the browsers are stuck to a crawl so I have to use phone instead now
so looking it up Iโm getting steam exclusive problems but not the launcher from the website itself so Iโm the only that I found this problem
so I finally passed it but now Iโm stuck with a windowed fullscreen stuck on the grinding gears moving in the middle and a black screen

well I gave up on it I been playing on GeForce exclusively but is also laggier cuz of internet and only at bedtime the connection becomes good and less laggy
also the launcher is just like a copy paste of the broken steam version

Slowly but steadily. The next patch to PoB will introduce a fistful of gems, depending on how solid their implementation is.

Steam and Standalone has the exact same data files and game client version, across all PC platforms.
The difference is in the patching and things like Steam being an x86_64 app, but until there's a native ARM64 version of PoE, that doesn't matter.
They will run equally good (or bad).

If youโre of a programming persuasion, itโs not complex to do yourself - write a script to watch the client.txt, and send a push notification when it sees a whisper line
Donโt know about push notification gateways that have python APIs
If anything the push notifications might be the more annoying part - have never had to set those up before
