If you are starting out it will IMHO be better to play POE first. I say that because although it won't be a requirement to have played POE to play POE 2 but it will likely help because some systems will be in both games and there will be less of a learning curve. After EA has finished it isn't known when POE 2 will actually be released so if you only played POE 2 you would have an unknown length of time to wait for general release. If you had played POE you can go back to it while you wait. Ultimately though, it's up to the individual what they want to do.
I imagine tools such as PoB are going to be in major development to accommodate POE 2.0

oh, i am not early adopter! after all i started POE only now - what 2 - 3 weeks ago? i am happy to play Poe for many more months, b4 contemplating poe2.

The Windows Steam client will run under WINE. It does now. It will run in any of the 4 apps on the wiki. Performance is not as good as running the standalone through one of them but technically a Mac user can access EA if they have a Steam account and a key. I’m debating whether to defile my Macbook with Steam 🤔
why so opposed to Steam? i had not problems on Steam with other games.

I prefer the old fashion install on a computer. I can pretend I have more control that way. I don’t use any game management portal, such as GOG Galaxy. I have my preferences. Oh and a library of games when they came in boxes with printed manuals and cool artwork !

The Mac steam client is crippled with multithreading disabled and a takes multiple attempts to login.
The Mac standalone client errors out every time an update is released and you need to implement a tedious workaround. On top of that the Mac client has an FPS cap of 60FPS. Then there are the graphics bugs.
GGG are unable to fix the issues, hence the wiki page with suggested alternatives. The alternative are all free except for Crossover. Multithreading is enabled, there is no FPS cap and game performance is generally better.
If you are running the Monterey OS than the Mac standalone does not have the issues and you are ok for now. The steam client still will have the issues mentioned, regardless of the OS version.

Maybe it’s an end game issue. Never made end game since I need controller or wasd and controller doesn’t tend to work on Wine so I can kiss couch coop bye :/

PSA - the my-access/early-access link in the FAQ post does not work. There is a thread on Reddit with people stating they are well over the threshold (as am I) and the link says they need to buy a supporter pack to get access. Perhaps the link should not have been included yet since they also stated keys would be distributed in the next few days. Very confusing 🤪

You do. Check your settings. Multithreading on the Mac steam client is disabled. It wasn’t before 3.25

For PoE1, the community here seems to have decent success running the WIndows version of the game under lightweight translation systems like Kegworks, Portingkit, etc.
Those are way lighter than full-on virtual machines, which seldom have much in the way of graphics capabilities at all.
Can't say how PoE2 would fare under those.

I get 45fps using GPTK. Another user reported getting 125fps with Kegworks I think. Crossover 24.0.5 gets 45-55 fps at least. It will depend on the system specs of course. If you only have 8GB memory you’ll likely get around 30fps. That is still more than with the native clients.

It appears there will be a stand alone client. You can use Kegworks still in that case.

Look at the top pinned message. Lots of folk here are using one of those. 3 free ones and 1 solution you need to buy a license for. The Mac clients are effectively dead.
Made some tests with GPTK version 1.0. Stable fps 80-120. Full of animations screen 50-60 (with paladin microtranscations). Did not see less 50 fps. Macbook pro max M2.

Is anyone intending to play poe2 EA via Windows client on Mac?
I want to make sure it works for people before I try to get organised for it
hope you are doing well everyone. I had low fps while playing macos PoE on steam, and I decided to use Kegworks and run the Windows-based app from there. I followed all the steps but the game crashes before even starting. has anyone had a similar experience? and do you think using portingkit or GPTK would solve the issue/be a better solution?
Does it give an error message? Did you change the renderer in the config file? Crashing before starting is typical of having the wrong renderer.
Additionally I couldnt get the game to run with Portingkit but Kegworks works for me. It seems to be very system specific.
What version are you running? Steam MacOS, standalone MacOS or Windows via KWS / PK / GPTK?

Could be 3 things 1. Wrong engine 2. Renderer not set 3. You missed the step of deleting the directory. For no.3 did you do step 12 ?
OK looks like everything everything is good now. the production_config.ini file was empty at first; therefore, one needs to add [DISPLAY] before renderer_type=DirectX12. thanks for your replies @balmy laurel @lilac trail
everything seemed to be smooth but the quality was quite low. don't know how i can fix that.
the trick that worked for me was to type /dnd immediately after i logged into my character (i don't even know if doing this is ok or not). however, i eventually switched to Windows client in macos due to low fps on steam macos.
What is the graphics resolution of your screen on the Mac set to ?

so by "quality being bad" i mean compared to steam macos it's bad. resolution matches that of my display. steam's resolution is much larger though; hence the better quality. i don't know if there is something specific that steam does for the game to have a better quality.
anyways, i would much rather have lower quality that lower fps. 😄
@reborn had the same issue with graphics quality. It apparently fixed itself after a restart of the app - portingkit in their case. You could either close kegworks and start it again or restart the mac and see if that clears it. Steam doesn’t do anything special.
If you still have steam installed grab the graphics settings there and compare them.
What resolution is your system capable of ?
The other thing you can do is create a virtual monitor and set the resolution to what you want on it. There is a pinned message on what the free software is and how to use it. You can set resolution that are higher than your native ones in the virtual monitor. The game then uses those

For those not technically minded Kegworks (KWS) and portingkit (PK) are the most GUI friendly. You can also use Crossover but that is not free. You can use these options to run Windows version of PoB too.

This guide explains several ways to install and run the Windows client for Path of Exile on Mac, as an alternative to using the MacOS standalone or Mac Steam clients.
It also includes instructions on a workaround for a known patching issue and an outline of how to setup the Windows version of Path of Building (PoB) on a Mac.
GFN should work. The problem with it is that you are limited to the amount of game time per tier. The free tier is the most restrictive. The most expensive tier provides more time.
Also GFN just announced that as of 2025 they will be limiting game time on the platform to 100 hrs per month.
You can sort of use APT through a clunky method on it. You can’t run PoB.
If none of these are an issue then you should be good as long as you have a decent internet connection.

I saw they removed the specs requirements on steam of PoE2. Does that mean that PoE2 won't have a mac release at all?

Hmm strange that PoB isn't just a webapp, I guess it integrates directly with the game somehow for some features.
Can't say anything about the release, the FAQ entry is the best you got thus far.
PoB is free-standing, but is built on awesomely crusty old technology that doesn't lend itself well to running on the web.
There's some people that have tried, but it's surprisingly tricky to port and maintain.
I mean if it needs to integrate with the game by memory or reading logs or something I can understand that.
That's a shame. Was excited. Any way we can get feedback from the devs about the macOS client or what's planned?
The only integration PoB has is downloading account characters from the website and some limited functionality to look up items and timeless jewels on the trade site.

The crux with PoB is that it's predominantly written in Lua on LuaJIT, running on a custom graphics engine. It has a surprising amount of code and capabilities and the game loop and UI model it has doesn't necessarily map super well to the web.
If one were to remake it on the web, they'd have to either reimplement all the Lua logic with warts and all; or try to make Lua and the UI run hosted in a browser.
There's some people that have tried over the years with various results.
I am guessing the by gameplay loop, it runs simulation and that's the part you're saying would be complicated to run?
Could def rewrite UI components in web and run the LUA in some webasm. That way only the UI would be rewritten. Anyway was just curious what PoB was. 🙂

On macOS, there's a third party runtime powering the mac-native bundling of PoB and also the ability to run it using the usual Wine-based environments.
I’ll be playing POE2 via one of the WINE based methods. Others will also. Unless there is something weird in the client I expect it to work. If not then the developers will need to investigate and provide a fix. I’ll post once I have tested them all. It will be a few days after launch. GGG rudely picked a date on which I am out of town 🤣
In regards to an access key - if you have spent $480US over the lifetime of your account you get a free key. If not then you can buy one for $30.
Just to add to play option possibilities - Geforce Now (GFN) is another option to play both POE and probably POE2.
I don’t use it because you can’t integrate other third party tools with it and your play time is limited on the free tier. Plus other tiers aren’t free. You are paying an extra fee per month for something you can play for free with unlimited hours otherwise.
Are there any decent options for external storage on the Mac Minis? Considering that I can barely fit a PoE1 or two on my M1, I have a feeling I'd have to go for something external.
Thunderbolt + NVMe enclosure, or is that extortionate? Something DRAM-less over USB-C? Tape recorder?
I hope client will be available some days before release. I will try to test and handle it for mac on M2 .

Define "decent" - there are a lot of USB-C options at different price points. Not as many Thunderbolt+NVMe options.
Thunderbolt is of course a lot faster, but the SanDisk G-Professional G-drive series is pretty decent for a USB-C connection.
The Thunderbolt+NVMe options provide more expansion options. You'd need to get a NVMe to go with most of them, so then you'll need to find a NVMe that isn't going to be the r/w bottleneck. TB+NVMe usually require a seperate power source whereas the USB-C runs off your existing system. May or may not be an issue for you either way. One of the challenges with the TB+NVMe option is the storage capacity is limited. You can buy with more slots and start out with filling just 1 or 2 instead of filling them all I suppose but the pure USB-C external drives can go to 22TB for cheaper (but the trade off of course is throughput speed).
I don't have any experience with Thunderbolt+NVMe but there are 2 I've seen mentioned consistently when I've checked out external options. There are probably others. Here's some light reading. Your google-fu skills are probably better and you can find other options too.

According to what scant information there is the client will be released a few days prior to launch. GGG have done their best to communicate and set expectations but somehow there is still a lot of confusion, and confused people (including me). Players buying the EA supporter packs seem to be getting a key first, instead of those who have qualified for one via the lifetime purchase route (of which I am one) to add to the confusion. I would have thought it would be easiest to start with those who qualified already. I don't understand the point of providing a account check link that does not work for everyone ....
In the FAQ around EA they did say the client will be able for download. That means there will be a standalone client to use. Makes sense. According to Jonathan the split between Steam and Standalone was 50-50. No standalone means you'd be cutting off a lot of people from participating and that wouldn't make sense.
An actual native, working, Mac client, would have been fantastic, but in the absence of that we still have options, which include using GFN temporarily (which means no APT unless you want to twist yourself into a pretzel knots via an incredibly complex method once posted on reddit but then agin APT may not be ready for EA anyway).
I installed poe with kegworks, but for some reason the max resolution i can set the game to is half of the resolution of my mac. Are there any fixes for this?

I just set the resolution, after looking through the pinned comment and reddit post (albeit not very thoroughly) I wasn't able to figure out the virtual monitor.
Sounds good. A few people have reported needing to reset their system resolution.
You don’t need a virtual monitor unless you want to run the game at a specific resolution but not touch your primary setting or you want to run at a higher resolution than your monitor is capable of.
Which part of setting up the virtual monitor did you get stuck on ? Might need to make a quick video instead of a wall of words 😜

Yeah the reddit post is assuming you don't have an additional monitor display I think. I retested with just the built-in display and the instructions work for that but not a multi-monitor display setup. I will see how to setup in a 3 monitor system with the external monitor as the main display or as the extended display. That is causing me some grief

A mac client may be developed but not for at least 6 months according to statements from GGG. I wouldn't hold my breath on that.
As long as there is a windows stand alone client you should be able to play EA on a Mac using one of the methods outlined on the wiki post - a link to which is provided in the pinned messages. All the options are free with the exception of Crossover, which requires a license.
Strictly speaking GFN may also be an option. It's not often mentioned here because you basically can't use 3rd party tools with it. Plus apart from the free tier - where play time is limited - it isn't free.
Folks running PortingKit version of PoE: new patch, means go back to the Pinned note on changing temp to exe file!

or may be there is no point to start PoE 1 since PoE 2 will be out soon ?
R U running POE on Mac via steam ? Don’t. It’s broken (as you found out). You can use one of the Windows clients on a Mac as outlined on the wiki page in the first pinned message. You can also use PoB with this method as well.
All free except Crossover, which requires a license.
The other option is to play via GFN. This is ok as well but you can’t use any third party apps on it. There is only 1 free tier.
You should continue to play POE. It is the base game and a lot of the POE 2 mechanics are derived from it. Even if they do not carry over, it will make POE 2 more familiar.
POE 2 is only EA for 6 months. Then it’s likely it will be closed off while GGG polish it off. People will have to get their fix playing POE again till POE 2 launches for general access.

For those who qualified for a free key via a lifetime spend - the key should be in your account. It is only a Steam key though. There is a note that Epic is not yet available. No mention of standalone access, despite the FAQ stating "If you have purchased a key and/or have access granted for one PC game client (Stand-alone, Steam, or Epic)". I am assuming (hoping) the standalone client key turns up soon as well, or that the steam key can be used with the standalone client.
The Windows Steam client should work in one of the apps outlined in the wiki. Performance may not be as good (someone recently tested this said it was not as good) but in a worst case scenario where the standalone is not an option, it's a possibility.
The very top line in your EA page indicates if your account itself is entitled. The Steam/Epic keys are solely to add the title to the respective platform libraries.
The very first key you get for an account that doesn't have access already is auto-consumed to grant EA to that account, which also adds those entries for platform keys in case you want to use those in addition to standalone.

There were several rounds of closed beta test. Regardless on if they tried the game on macOS or not, they're never allowed to talk about it.

This is what the account access page looks like. If I follow you correctly - and that is tenuous - then it is stating I have access via the standalone client then ? And if so where is the key ? All I see is a steam one ...

There is no distinct key because your game account is already entitled.
Additional keys you can give away look like this:
I bought the 480 pack (total five keys) and then got the lifetime spend key (one key).
- "Your account is eligible" indicates my game account has access, granted by auto-using the first key the account saw, which isn't shown.
- The next four lines of masked keys are the remaining keys I can give away, of which I've given away two.
- Then there's Steam and Epic client keys that came out of getting access in the first point, which I can redeem solely to add the client to the libraries; they in themselves don't grant any account access.
- Finally there's the additional lifetime key that functions the same way as other keys; if it's the first one you ever get on an account it's auto-consumed, otherwise it's a loose key you can give away like mine.

The standalone client, being from the company, can determine from your game account whether you are entitled to play or not. There's no keys needed for that once that entitlement is granted.
Thanks @zao - about time someone explained it properly. Support just keeps spewing back the same template response. Yours is much more helpful. It might make sense to someone at GGG but it needs to be way clearer to the average player. I'm good to go then and I don't need to claim the steam key since I don't use steam.
I am assuming the standalone client for POE 2 is different from the current one and that will be available the day before launch or day of launch. I can't actually login Dec 6th as I'll be away but I'll do so a few days afterwards.
Note that it's all my personal understanding of how the system functions, I don't know how it actually is designed and works.
One nice thing about blanket NDAs is that it removes all grey areas around what you can and can't say, both for participants and external moderation; allowing for more open interactions inside the bubble.

kegworks is built for Intel macOS and so requires Rosetta 2 to be installed.
You can install Rosetta 2 with:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
Note that it is very difficult to remove Rosetta 2 once it is installed.

It auto-migrated me from wineskin to kegworks, so not sure if it's installing it the preferred way.
Probably benign, has the same caveats when installing as documented.
Interesting to see the note about being for Intel. That seems odd. I’ve never noticed that but I already have Rosetta2 installed as part of GPTK.
Did you run the uninstall commands for wineskin as well ?
I found those don’t completely remove WS. It leaves a Wineskin directory in your user directory you have to manually remove.
Time to figure out how to run packcheck with Kegworks, I krangled my GGPK 😄
Oh … let me know how that goes. I tried it in Crossover or portingkit and couldn’t get it to run but that’s just me lacking the patience to figure it out

You should give BetterDisplay a try if you don’t have it. The virtual monitor setup is great. I ran a Virtual monitor at 8192x yesterday 😁
Ended up in a nice corner case where it didn't download PackCheck before krangling the GGPK so I couldn't run PackCheck to unkrangle it.
Ended up slipping in a copy of the Wineskin GGPK I had lying around on main storage.
Gonna let it run overnight, might even finish patching at this rate 😄

I'm doing more things to the drive at the same time so it competes for the few iops.
It's a SMR harddrive, it's beyond cruel to use for anything but a few large files you seldom touch.

in fact, i don't think anyone beyond a very select group of journalists have run poe2 at all
early release isn't for a few more days
i don't have a free key from supporting enough so maybe someone that does will give it a go first to see if one of the existing methods works

It’s unplayable in a VM. I’ve run it in VMware (which is free now), Parallels and UTM.
I expect it will run via one of the methods in the wiki but we won’t know till launch. I won’t be playing till the Monday after launch due to other commitments.

Interestingly enough I did use to run it in a VM. This was years ago prior to GGG moving work loads to the GPU instead of the CPU. It was also on an Intel system, though even that slowly became impractical. VM don’t do virtual GPU and with silicon graphics and ARM the VM has to process everything at least twice

Someone reported that there is going to be an in-game PoB in POE2. Apparently Jonathan mentioned it in an interview but not which interview. I doubt it would be a full blown PoB but who knows 🤷🏼♂️

A kill log has been asked for for some time. Chris Wilson tried to explain the technical challenges in doing so, without much success. People don’t want to know why it isn’t being done - they just want it - yesterday. Personally I can’t see why a kill log would be useful. There are so many ways to die in POE. It’s unlikely you are going to do something to avoid it the “next” time it happens. Might not be a next time. It seems fairly simple to me - make sure your resistances are capped. Don’t stand in degen pools. Get immunity to corrupted blood, oh and don’t get hit so often. There you go, problem solved 🤣
Looks like in early of 6 December we can attempt to start standalone client via something
not really, running it wont be a problem, but making it running smooth may require some head banging
they add new lightning system if it have some non-trivial use of something in DX12 - it can be a huge problem to run game at all
Crossover 23+ supports DX12, so it still might be possible. We will see soon I guess

No idea how that setting changed. That is the game doing that. The windows client on Windows sometimes does weird things and crashes so it’s not the WINE app.
Your crashed because I guess you had not received the last update. Once you did the work around it behaved itself again

Ray tracing is the only thing that might be an issue. As I understand it, some models don’t support it because … it’s Apple … but GPTK 2.0 does have ray tracing support. I don’t know if WINE apps include GPTK 2.0 with those features. You can also only get the full ray tracing features in Sequoia. Guess that’s a good excuse to update 🤔

No. There is a forever license which is 23% off. Honestly it will take a long time for that to be worth paying. I got mine last year for $25US. I just renewed for $10US. Assuming that doesn’t change in the future means it would be around 10 years before it would be better to buy lifetime license.

Just an FYI - CXPatcher is not part of Crossover. You need to install it. It’s third party. Also - if for some reason it breaks Crossover you are on your own. Crossover doesn’t support it. I don’t use it since I don’t use Crossover for POE.

BTW - I don’t think performance will be any better with Crossover. I tested them all and didn’t notice a big FPS increase between any of the 4. They are all similar but YMMV, especially since my system is an M1 Max, which is probably considered a dinosaur these days 🤣

You can run up to 16k resolution in a VM.
The game then uses the VM, not your primary monitor

OK - so you now have 3 options. The ray tracing in GPTK 2 is in the latest Crossover preview release. You have access to that now you have a license. You could install that.
You could also just use CXPatcher for now

Kegworks already has it but it does not work with POE. You have to remove the folder that has it, which then forces you to use GPTK 1.1
I’ve mentioned that to the developer. Since we had to remove the folder in KWS that had 2.0 in it I’ve asked him how to get it back to run it on Thursday. If it is a full install than I’ll just go the Crossover preview route till they provide a KWS based solution.
This is moot if POE 2.0 does not use the ray tracing features GPTK 2 supports.
@zao - maybe you can provide some comment on what is in POE 2 if you are allowed to.

Either one of the apps outlined in the wiki or you can try GFN. If you have EA access you will need to use one of these options. There is no Mac client for POE 2 EA

Geforce Now. Hosted platform. They have both a free tier and multiple paid tiers. You need to own the games in a library such as steam

You can’t use 3rd party apps on it such as Awakened POE. The free tier is time limited. The other tiers aren’t free. Paying a third party provider to play a free game seems odd to me when you can play it for free for unlimited time and use other apps on your computer like APT. If none of those are an issue than GFN is viable. It may be for POE 2 but no official word on that.
EA is confirmed for the 6th. You would have to check on GFN if POE 2 will be available. I don’t use GFN so I can’t say more. My understanding is it has to be listed by them. They also are not as quick as Steam with updates so I’ve heard.
I would avoid GFN if at all possible and instead install to your hard drive using one of the other methods. GFN on the free tier is very limited, often you have to wait to login, only certain time length you can be using it, etc
Unless you're fine paying for GFN, but at that point you might as well just pay a one-time fee for crossover

The machine on your end needs a decent internet connection - wired preferably - otherwise you’re going to get with lag. Unifer is correct - if you are going to pay for something, Crossover makes more sense. You can use it for a lot more than just games. It will also run Windows apps - such as PoB, which is good because the Mac port of PoB is not very good.
Additionally with Crossover you can use APT

There are not that many Windows systems can run POE at maximum graphics 😀 I can run with all settings at max on my M1 except Texture filtering which I use 4x instead of 8x or 16x using GPTK though.

The mac steam client 😮 You know that is crippled right ? GGG disabled multi-threading. I'm surprised it runs at all. I'd hazard that is why you can't get above 60FPS. Suggest you try one of the WINE based apps outlined on the wiki link which is the first pinned message in this channel. All the apps are free except Crossover, which needs a license. You can trial Crossover for 2 weeks for free though. Also Crossover is currently 70% off, so depending on where you are you can get is for less than $25 (use discount code MISFIT70 on the site)

The issue with updates that occurs in the Windows version of POE only seems to happen on Kegworks and portingkit. I have also seen it happen in a VM. Haven't seen it using GPTK or Crossover as yet but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen
You'll find out shortly when maintenance finishes 🤣 but from memory I never encountered the issue when using CO. It's some weird assed permissions problem 🤷♂️
How is Kegworks et al with graphics APIs? Is it just D3D12 that works or can you get Vulkan or D3D11 running?

So the only app that is immune to this issue is if you run POE via GPTK (which I do)
Intel systems use Vulkan. I don't think you can select anything else. For Apple Silicon have always used D3DMetal which is DX12. If someone has Kegworks they could change the settings and see if Vulkan or DX11 run. Could test it easier in Crossover I think - would deselect D3D and select DXVK and set the renderer to Vulkan.

crossover - for what it's worth i changed the config file as well. i have it working just fine with the normal d3d method, just wanted to see if the vulkan stuff worked for testing purposes

You can delete the .old files.
GPTK is no better than PK or KWS or CO. It is the technically challenging setup. It uses a series of command line statements and manual installs of multiple pieces of software.
I used it at the time because CO, PK and KWS did not have the D3DMetal support at the time.
I would not recommend it to those who are technically minded. The step by step is on the wiki for anyone who wants to use it. Given the workaround only takes about 10 seconds it isn’t really worth the extra effort.

You can certainly continue o use a WINE app to run the game. Nothing illegal about that. Nor is using a VPN.
What is detailed is basically to cull low hanging fruit like bots. It won’t catch everything but it will hopefully make it difficult for these things to operate.
Things like GFN are an interesting scenario - you’re using a virtual machine to play. Much of the information about a system would be temporary. I find the whole anti-piracy field interesting. It’s a constant battle between good and evil.

full client seems to be only 86.2gb
It was reported that the PS5 client ended up being 89GB. THe 100-120GB recommendation was posted on Steam I believe (probably GGG site as well)

I've got the stand alone client for windows running on my M4 mac booted to the login screen. At first it will just crash constantly when opening. To fix this you need to open finder and go to 'Documents' -> 'My Games' -> 'Path of Exile 2' -> 'poe2_production_Config.ini'. Open in textedit and you need to change renderer_type=Vulkan to renderer_type=DirectX12.
I am using Crossover with MSync, High Resolution Mode and D3DMetal turned on.

Yea Hong Kong was auto selected but I can change that via the drop down.
My download errors out many times before it completed due to GGG servers taking a ponding.
i guess a fresh download should work without errors now, right?
I just kept starting the launcher back up and it continued the download where it left off.
As DanteDrac mentioned - just restart the process. It doesn't seem to start from where it crashed but subsequent downloads are faster. It took me 3 attmepts for it to finish

Als obe aware - POE2 has a POE2 folde rwith it's own ini file. It does not use POE1 file

I hope its Apple Sillicon native and runs well. Currently the Windows version gives me better FPS than the "mac" version of POE1.
But for now the WINE based work arounds allow us to play pretty smoothly on a Mac. You can use the same methods to use the windows versions of PoB and APT too, which will always be better than the Mac port of both those apps
Because the Mac version is capped at 60FPS. You can't go above that even if you have the monitor, CPU and GPU to do so. So I hope they get rid of that too

that was all i needed
brew install says:
kegworks is built for Intel macOS and so requires Rosetta 2 to be installed.
You can install Rosetta 2 with:
softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license
Note that it is very difficult to remove Rosetta 2 once it is installed.

Technically you probably can but I’m not sure how you would do so. If you have the space setup Kegworks and install POE 2.0. Once you have it going delete the POE 2 bottle in Whisky.
If you don’t have the space then delete POE2 in Whisky and setup Kegworks
The wiki page steps are exactly the same except that the installer and executable are different names. I won’t be able to update the wiki for POE 2 till Sunday unfortunately.

i'm just happy it started on whisky already, I gave my PC to my wife for her to work and only have the mac to play right now (It's my company's mac but they don't need to know lol)
Extended hardware test suite.
I tested POE on Whisky along with all the other apps on the wiki. It installs and runs but the frame rate is non-existent
I was able to open PoE2 on an M2 Macbook Air...but High Resolution Mode is not good, so had to turn off that feature

You can play Poe1 and Poe2 in gforce now, FULL MAXED graphics, smoother than i ever played in any PC or MAC...

No. There are multiple tiers. There is a free one but game time is very limited. Others tiers you pay a monthly cost for. They also have a limit amount of game time in one session. Each tier gives you better cpu and gpu. They are not all the same. If you have the ultimate package I think there is a longer grace period till the 100 hrs per month kicks in.
The main point is though - why pay a monthly fee when you could buy a license if Crossover for a one time cost of $52.
It all comes down to personal preference. You can use a free option or a one time cost or you can pay an ongoing monthly fee if you feel you are getting value.
You also can’t use any 3rd party products via GFN.
unless they explicitly add it as a feature... i.e. wow addons
