Hi everyone, i'm a ps4 (soon ps5) player that played the game 1 year ago and really enjoyed it. But since my friend was playing summoner build and my ps4 basically reached 2/3 fps when playing maps, I stopped playing. Now with my ps5 coming next week i wanna pickup the game again. I see i have a divine ire shadow build (very bad gear i think, for example divine iri only uses 3 other linked skills). Is it worth continueing my character or too much changed and i should restart?

last question, it's been actually more than 2 years i see now since we logged in. i have a shadow of level 70, we completed act 10, not the epilogue yet, so suddenly i can't do maps anymore haha 😛

but the question: is it easy / cheap to respec? or should i make a new character. So far i was doing the first quest of the Epilogue, and i do kill the mobs quite easily. takes about 2/3 divine ire hits 🙂 (i was playing divine ire shadow)

jewlers orbs, for a random roll. or if you go through some delve you can get some bench crafts for sockets. binding orbs make an item rare and 4 socket

Depends what you are playing. People say minions is a hard no go. I was playing glad lacerate, it was decent until i had more than 20 monsters on screen. Or opened a breach. Or a legion. Or went into Alva mission. Or had monsters from more than 2 detonations in expedition.

@iron mirage depends on your PS4, if you have an original model it will probably suck. A pro will mostly be fine but there are definitely builds that can cause issues. But we'll see how this league launch goes performance wise

Just pay 30€ for a cheap ssd for the ps4. You improve not only your poe experience. It doesn’t matter if it’s external or internal. I played 3.14 and the only content that lagged for me was 100% deli harbinger canyon back then and it was still playable

@high escarp on console there is an option to activate an alternate behavior of skill gems. That changes the behavior of some mine anf trap skills. Idk if pc has that option, though.

Hello, I'm playing on PS5 and after last update Caustic Arrow animation looks glitched. Instead of the usual poison pool it spawns a black circle over the ground which is quite annoying because it's blocking the visual. Anyone else have seen this problem? Thanks!

Yeah, I played it with volley and lmp, it clears fine and one shots most everything, I just don’t like how it mechanically operates, the targeting. I’m sure it’s fine for some people and it probably is amazing on pc cuz it’s a point and click ability but I just didn’t care for it on controller since you can’t control where it’s thrown.

Unlike an arrow or some spells, it’s an arc, the throw, so it consistently goes over mobs, misses them completely.

I just switched to heirophant shock nova instead

poison concoction with consoles auto aim makes me wanna rip my eyes out

anything faster than the travel time of your bottles just misses and you can't do anything about it other than get inside of the monster thats moving so fast

same goes with melee monsters at times, they just walk at you and your attack lands behind them

I don't exactly wanna give every slightly faster than average monster a kiss on the lips just to hit them imo

Is it normal that whenever a huge chunk of mobs appear, the game just stutters and lags then boom your dead. Never had this issue from last league.

Especially when I change rifts. Sudden spawn of the mobs causes game to stutter so bad that I decided to just skip it for the most part.

I am very careful about my positioning, I'll set up my totem and spam my attack like crazy in hopes something goes through. Other than that that's all I can do on my ps4. Expeditions were unplayable for me starting at t7+, hopefully scourges will fare a bit better. We shouldnt be expected to buy a PS5 when the game is advertised for PS4.

Hey there, been playing since 2015, trying to migrate to PS since I stopped upgrading my PC.

Getting used to controls and stuff still, just had a couple of questions that I couldn't figure out:

1. The window seems to be set to a resolution that doesn't match my tv. I can't see part of the skill wheel and some of the flasks on the left.

I'm probably missing a frame of about 100 pixels, top bottom left and right.

2. First thing in every new PoE character is disable the auto attack "skill" on left click and set it to move only. I couldn't do this in PS.

So my button to pick up items also auto-attacks and it's very annoying.

Press R3, then you can choose what buttons do what skill/anything

For resolution, I'd say try adjusting screen display zone or whatever it's called, in PS Settings, make it smaller a bit

For movement skilla, default seems to be to attack nearest enemy, if you choose alternative action by pressing ⏹️, it should move for maximum distance in the direction of your L3

Dont overuse movement skills, it tends to rubberband back after a few quick uses, best to use it once/twice, run for a second or two, again movement akill, again run a bit. I know it's weird but eh 🤷‍♂️

Any interesting tips to someone migrating from years of PC playing to PS?

I'm still coping with having no extra stash tabs, I think this will eventually be a breaking point for me, I used to play with over 25 premium tabs.

I don't think I'll invest in 25 more, but at least I'd like to clear the acts just for fun.

Is there anything we can do with the right joystick? Using the arrows to trigger flasks seems clunky as you can't use arrows and left joystick to move at the same time, so one needs to stop in order to use flasks unless it's R1 and L1.

I kinda wished we could just trigger them with the right stick.

Yeah crafting flask triggers are definitely a quality of life thing on console.

Left and up arrow are tricky to press and still move but right and down arrow is a lil easier for me. Don't put important flasks on left and up 🙂

It is really clunky to play on console but it gets better. Inventory management is what gets me the most. League specific tabs, map and currency tabs become even more important imo

I just found out that the command to lay down explosives in expeditions is the same as the command to enter scourge. So if you're too close to a expedition site, the command for laying explosives override the command to enter scourge.

Sometimes I just want to grab the loot and gtfo, but the game forces me to kill every mob in the vicinity before making the items lootable

I even have "X" unassigned to any skills so it works for looting only.

I've been slowly adapting to console but this is still a bother

fun fact if you hold r2 and press down on the dpad it sets the items on your loot filter to a timer to vanish from the screen to clear up clutter, holding down r3 will allow you to see those dropped items again. You can also use this feature to move items say if so many items drop that you can no longer pick it up as it is off screen even after you have looted the rest of the loot pile, turning this off and back on should reshuffle the pile back into a reasonable location for easy looting (if the item you have on your loot filter shows up on the minimap it will continue to even after it is removed from screen clutter)

@opaque saddle flick the Right stick up, it should pick a close item to you, sometimes down or to the side works, but it's only for a short moment so you kinda have to flick-pressX REALLY quick

It's a lot less daunting then. Frequent mistake ex-diablo players make is go full on damage. Dont make that mistake, don't neglect Life and defences, or you WILL hit a brick wall sooner rather than later

Ok so if there is no way to make ground items lootable during fights, how do you all deal with it?

Like it's impossible to loot during delirium because if you wait until the item becomes lootable, you'll lose time

Same thing in heist, or anything with time counters

Sometimes you just need to pick up the loot and gtfo, but it's impossible to do if you can't loot it because you're being engaged by a pack

How does one detonate smoke mines on the PS?

I thought summon skitter bots would do it, but nope

There’s a skill you get when you socket a mine called “detonate mines”

@solemn oxidebasically console pricing is a huge mess, to know a price on an item thats specific like a unique, currency or map its just L3-triangle on the item and take an avg of the prices (the real price vs the price fixers prices) generally price fixers price 3-4x as low to get other newbies to post items at that low price where they can pick them up and re-price then en-mass

if its a rare item, or a base

thats alot harder to discern esspecially for newer players. on console alot of people try and sell decent rolls for really high. but if your gear isnt ilvl83-86+ max links+sockets (influenced) with good health, res, and def rolls its not good and you should vendor it

How do I spawn the inner citadels? I think I bugged my atlas, I got the quest to kill Al-Hezmin, I did that and got inside his citadel and looted the stone but I didn't killed the boss of the regular map, the inner citadel its not in the map and the quest still ask me to kill him

Hey lads have any of you come across an annoying little issue. Right now my UI gets cut off at the edges of the screen. I tried adjusting the screen display in PS5 settings and even in my tv settings but nothing has fixed it. I've been waiting a while for this to be fixed yet it still hasn't... i run 55+ minions in some areas, and end game just crams mobs together in huge packs with crazy sht going on. p much lags permanently you get used to it XD

only downfall is healing potions are delayed by a sec or two so you die alot

POE is becoming a joke with all the nerfs, bugs, new DEFENSE CHANGES, i miss dodge, mastery's should be given without having to use points as long as u get the notable. the game play from playstation to PC is a major hindrance due to joy stick controls and not mouse point click so its harder to dodge things so we need a buff boost on the PS network.

my ps4 is broken and i really like path of exile, however i hate playing on keyboard+mouse. recently, it was confirmed that path of exile on steam would get a proper pad support. since i want to play with controller and i like the concept of permadeath, i came to the playstation community that plays with a controller to know how manageable hardcore is with a DS4 as i never played an ARPG with controller...

i just want to know if the controller support on ps4/ps5 is good enough that it lets you play a game where a single death ends the run, i didnt mean it in any elitist way

because i would much much rather play with ps4 controller

Controllers are good for some skills. I prefer controllers for projectile-based builds (it's great for deadeye).

If you like to use aimed skills, though - brands, totems, etc. - then PC is better with mouse and keyboard. But controller support really does make some things easier. And playing on the PS4 is actually easier for newcomers since the trade market is easier to manage.

Really, deadeye with a controller on console (or soon to be Steam Deck, which I assume is what the update is aimed at) basically turns the game into a twin-stick shooter, more or less.

I also typically prefer playing most of my games with a controller, just because I'm old and didn't grow up a PC gamer.

I want to play pc for the better performance but i have had wrist injuries for the last 2 years and I can't handle poe for more then 30 min at a time on mouse/keyboard. On controller though i can go for about 3 to 4 hours before it starts hurting. So I would love to have controller support on pc but oh well. I guess i have to stay with the laggy rubber banding ps4

About hardcore my problem. Is with the ps4. I couldent play hardcore because of my play style but I always think it would be a fun challenge at some point. Problem is I atleast take 8 death per campaign just from freezes/rubberband. Now if it was on pc I think the only real problem would be with lets say leap slam not jumping where you want since it does damage and will target enemies. And some other things like that could happen. But i don't really see why it would be that bad. Especially once you get a auto flask setup because i can't lie flasks on controller aren't great.

Maybe it wouldent be the best for full move speed raiders as well but then again that's probably not doing content that can one shot it if it's in hardcore

Depends on what you’re looking for. It’s not great for searching for very specific mods for advanced crafting and scaling. But the mechanics are, to me, easier. Don’t have to go to a hideout, can find things without a third party website, it’s much easier for people who aren’t in the advanced stages of mapping.

Oh. And the other reason I tend to prefer PS4 is purely logistical to my house’s layout: my PS4 is by my cable modem so it’s physically wired. My PC is in a room where wifi is necessary. And I’m not about to spend a lot of time and effort running a network server and hundreds of feet of wire just for Path of Exile.
