ballistas so you can ca if you want, but if you don't like the double delay, self attack is fine

kinda new, why is braserker so much better than champion for a volcanic fissure of snaking build, if champion got giga buffed defensively
warcries, and also champion is maybe better lategame, the issue is that celestial brace is so big for new champ
zerker is better on league start, especially since it uses kaom's primacy so well
warcry node and feels smoother with more attack speed

they said it in the Q&A, also they count as .5 for loot/difficulty increase so if you play 6player 6merc you get a 9 player bonus for the loot/difficulty

- What are all of the different mercenary archetypes?
- Is there an easy way to tell if a mercenary has any special gems or items? (e.g. "of trathus" or "infamous" mods). Also, do we know what are the good mods?
Right now, it seems really painful to check every mercenary for skills and/or loot.
skills are written as text 🤔 , you don't have to hover them
Only the skills, not the gems, so you don't know if the support gems are special

it looks fine to me, in a glance you should able to determine if that mercenary is good or not for you and you can then look at support afterwards if you are looking for something very specific 🤷♂️
You need at least a 3-link and use a Shaper Shield. If your build doesn't have a source of shock then you can have double curse+base shock
You won't feel good with a Kingmaker AG on a non-minion build
AG have a very high base life level so the gear you can put on them is likely to be quite different from what you gonna put on Mercs I think

You need to be specific since some stuff stacks and some don't

I'm also trying to decide between holy relic and BAMA. Here is what I've gathered:
- Holy relic: easier to play, better clear, requires two transfigured gems, need to use lancing steel of spraying to attack
- BAMA: better single-target (boss) DPS, easier to gear (can vendor swap between two gems), harder to play - if you run too far without blinking, then your clones despawn

Well LS has a damage effectiveness of 456% at level 20, so reducing that to 406% would be a much smaller nerf

So interestingly - those notes say that trigger skills don't work b/c there'd be no way to know what is supposed to be triggering/doing the trigger. But what if the equipment itself had gems socketed into it? Assuming, of course, that such a thing is possible - which it very well might not be
Mercs don't get their skills from gems in their gear. You won't be able to give them skills by giving them gear with gems.
Has that been explicitly stated? I know in the video it showed the mercs having their own skills natively, and the gear unsocketed - but IMO that's not a guarantee that socketed gems wouldn't work

You're probably right, but if there's 30 archtypes and presumably it's an even spread... even if you can exile 5 types you're looking at 4 in 100 maps of finding the type of merc you want
And there's no guarantee that it's only one merc build per type
good, instead of getting bis merc during acts, you'll be able to upgrade it as often as your gear during progression

I fully agree that I don't want to find the BIS merc in 10 maps and be done, but I also don't want to struggle through with an incompatible type b/c I'm unlucky - because the only way to change it is to roll a whole new merc

Well a merc applying something like a mark or a curse is enough to be useful imo. In my case I will most likely want any merc running malevolence. You can also just put items on a merc and even if the skills are tank or dps based they are still useful

Per player, afaik - in party play I think you can stack curses/marks. Not 100% sure though

Per player. Each time a curse is applied, any curses that don't fit in the curse limit of whatever does the applying get removed

The vibe is that merc skills have nothing to do with their gear. There are some edge cases that haven't been confirmed or denied, but i've gotta assume they've kept it simple
Assuming that the "force rush one safehouse" thing doesn't get broken somehow. Putting... idk, probably the div cards (Gravicius?) and scarab (Cameria?) and just forcing that safehouse as fast and frequent as possible. I think it's possible to get close to a 1:1 rotation from map to safehouse
Like a 2:1 is worst-case, 1:1 is best case

I'm thinking Purity of Elements will just be hard to stop using later into the game. It was already great early, but now it's giving ailment immunity to your merc too. As soon as you don't have it, will feel bad.
this is only like, 6 intelligence max
New notable on the atlas tree gives int for their faction equal to 2x the current rank for executing. You can have 5 people in a faction, rank 3, so that's a possible 30 int per map. Unless they've changed it, I believe you can also get 'betray' options from rivals, which includes giving int for the rival's safehouse. So if everyone hates one faction, then both of the other encounters - which could be juiced, can also give a bunch of int.
Admittedly, changing the scarab means the 150% bonus int just isn't a thing anymore, which sucks. But even so, you're looking at like 5:1 or so on average
if you're going for the one safehouse spam strat
you're not running 5 guys in one faction
atleast, not in the one you want
Maybe, maybe not. The board doesn't reset anymore, and they took out the tier 4 rewards, so it doesn't matter who's running the show now
And that, I think, frees up some options
It's been months since I tried it, but I think you'd be able to do something where you interrogate the guy you care about, then interrogate 3 more from that faction, which takes it down to just the one and forces the first guy out of the jail. Which automatically shoves him back in to the correct faction

Admittedly, it's probably going to be a little harder to sustain, but if you do the next round with that faction and execute the first guy, then he gets the +1 back to level 3, you get the int from the three in jail, and that might be enough to hit the safehouse
I'm purely speculating, I haven't actually tried to map any of this out yet

Nah nah, you can still run the safehouse. Leaders have an itemized drop that lets you go fight Cat
for that safehouse
They specifically said fighting Cat doesn't reset the board. I don't think they've said that the safehouses do/don't reset when you fight them, but in the past I think the only thing that happened was the leader being a forced interrogation - which took them off the board
tho if you cant force interrogate them.. shifting members in the wrong safe house just got more annoying

Because if you have 3 mercs for your main set up, you essentially negate the entire mechanic for alts

one level 20 merc + 2 mercs for your main
and make them a haste bot

since you'll likely have a merc that matches your build

if you have 2 mercs for your main your alt will have no end game merc if it's a different style of build

I tried the last gauntlet, the one where everything was all kinds of weird... and tbh I didn't enjoy it. I loved the idea, but Hillock gate-keeping me in a situation where I had nearly zero influence over what skill I could use... felt like my agency as a player was removed
That's part of the league tho, they could add a mod increasing party difficulty x3 instead of x1.5 would be a better option imo so IF you chose to use one itll get significantly harder

I think I burned a dozen lives trying to get into the first town, and combined with the knowledge that I wasn't going to be able to play with my friend who was also in the gauntlet, it just sapped any motivation I had to push through.

Wave of Conviction looks cool but im sad it loses its exposure and lightning damage component.
Also having more cast speed than the skill duration will lead to interrupting the previous on going wave which is quite bad... another skill dead on arrival due to part of its mechanic being poorly thought-out, reminds me of base Rage Vortex. Limiting wave makes no sense, imagine if ball lightning or frost bolt were limited to 1? Oof

there's two reasons it's hard to build non-ignite woc
first off, as you now realised, you can't spam it to hit enemies far away faster
second off, the scaling is awkward since you're forced into split elements and don't have a clear easy path to a good trinity setup
not being forced into awkward trinity makes it better
you can still go into melee range to spam it

hi, if I play aurabot with The Hand of Phrecia and my buddy plays BAMA build, if I am linked to him, do the summoned "Minions" also gain the aura? because it is there in a build but I think it won't work, no? or is it snapshotted when he attacks with the skill?

though that means you must be in melee range vs bosses
i think the minions have to be linked, the unique specifies auras only apply to the linked target and you, so unless the minions take your friends stats in some way, the auras wont boost them

Since they dont count as party members, I did my best to compile every unique on poedb that worked with allies or nearby enemies IE blind/etc
I usually stick to similar archetypes so interactions with other builds I'm not 100% sure on, thought about including poisons/shocks/etc of uniques but figured most builds relying or benefiting from that already had alternatives
Maybe add a section for defensives, dead merc is useless merc
E.g. using wilma to make it 0dps so reflect won't kill it
