Sorry if this is a silly question but, how do I mark ore for miners to gather? I'm just beginning the game and am confused as I upgraded the mine and can't select one like the info window seems to imply.

I'm kind of guessing the ore deposits are the things in the map that spew out monsters, I've seen miners teleport in, but I'm unsure how to mark one.

Then, the miners you allocate at Kingsmarch will mine it over time.

The map kidnapper seems to show up every ~30ish maps (regular alc&go t16s or 8mod t16s my build can't run) i give my mappers and his challenges are a lot easier. not really any point in "sustaining" ores/bars unless you are really keen on fulfilling port quotas or are in ssf and are trying to fish for some upgrades from the port rewards. Smelting upgrades only increase the speed (and types of ore you can smelt), mining at max rank helps, but honestly just run a lot of maps fast is the best way to get ore.

Yup. I think people underestimated just how hard it got hit. Tucked in those changes was a hefty attack speed (and I think attack damage) nerf as well. Even had they not nerfed it, I’m not sure it would have been preferable to Slayer in the current meta.

ok I will just explain the weird possible bug. I am playing a bleed gladiator, I had all my gems set up, and was removing some for new skills. One of the gems removed was frostblink. It was not an active gem in DPS it was just for movement. My DPS was 5.5 mil, then I removed the frostblink and suddenly it went to 1.6 mil. I want someone to test and see if frostblink is randomly adding damage in the PoB despite not being used for DPS.

It's not a bug. It's the combination of those boots (enemies count as moving while affected by elemental ailments) and Frostblink (leaves chilled ground) giving you that effect.

It's probably better to combine card farming with something else.

I've been doing ambush + beyond + eater altars today, 20 maps netted me about 20div in just cards, while I was also farming gold and 8-mod maps with singular focus & cartography scarab of corruption.

That's the test run where I paid some attention to the gains. It's not too bad imo for ~40c-ish investment per map, but feel free to disagree.

It doesn't look that much, but when the strongbox revives everything on the screen and even outside of it, there's quite a significant frame drop caused by that. You should notice on the clip how it stutters before the mobs just disappear. Most of the frames during which the mobs would have been seen alive seemingly didn't get rendered at all.

So here's a question. Harbingers aren't affected by modifiers to item rarity, nor by item quant modifiers. They're not affected by the Maven chisels either, according to the Wiki. However, there's two currency-related things that I haven't seen any information on yet.

One, are the shards considered currency? Can they be impacted by the "chance to double currency" modifiers from the altars?
Two, with the passive from the Atlas that makes some currency shards drop as whole currency instead, can those be impacted by the duplication altars?

I haven't been able to find any solid evidence in either direction, and I've been unlucky with my altars so far & only found one currency duplication altar

Depends on what map you want to drop. AFAIK the maps will drop at whatever level they're showing as on your Atlas - so like Lambie said, your only real option is to test the different numbers of voidstones socketed to see if you can get your desired map as a t14

With one voidstone, t11 becomes t15. With two stones, the t7 maps become t14 instead

I haven't done the other two so I'm not sure what the third option is

A rank 9 farmer i have is 638 per hour, haven't gotten a 10 yet

but 10 probably in the realm of 900-1100 per hour

one thing to be mindful of with farmers is that you get multipliers for different crops being farmed and for adjacent crops being farmed.
So you can have 2 fields be the same crop and the others be each different one, and just have at least 1 worker on each field, even if its a rank 1 miner 😛 to get the max from both bonuses

Though, its less yield than if you just have all 6 going on 1 crop i'm sure.

Fun fact - unless you're trying to push for a specific port quota & you need tons of a specific crop, the highest yield is to do all 5 at the same time. If you assume all of your farmers are the same level, then the shipping value/hour is almost the same for all of the crops. You get more per hour of the lower-value crops. I've got a spreadsheet somewhere, I can pull up exact numbers if you want them

Assuming you can run red maps, a veiled orb is a 33% (ish) drop from Catarina at level 83+ - which means red maps. Fracturing orbs are also pretty simple, just takes time. Harbinger scarabs are pretty cheap right now, just make sure you have the currency duplication active as well

Weirdly enough using a Mirror might be the next easiest - shipments of 50 million value seem to be netting a handful of mirror shards each time, do a handful of those (crops and dust) and it shouldn't take too long to get a mirror, in theory

Juice your maps with as many mobs as possible and as much pack size as possible. Mobs drop gold -> more mobs -> more gold.
For example altars, rituals, beyond, shrines, strongboxes all add plenty of mob packs. I do strongbox+beyond+eater farming on 8-mod t16s, and get about 25-30k gold per map on the side of other loot.

In that instance, the corn will be irrelevant at this point, since you've already satisfied the request. I'm not sure if there's any impact from going beyond on one shipment - like if they wanted 85,000 wheat and you sent 100,000 or something.

TL;DR, it's best to grow all five crops, and then use the 6th spot to focus whatever crop you're trying to do for a shipment. You could technically minmax it depending on what the ports want, but from what I've been able to tell it's a negligible difference in almost all cases

Only difference in plot location is that the two middle ones get 30% bonus from adjacent plots, while the pairs at the ends only get 20%. So if you want to focus on specific crop, put those in the middle pair for best effectiveness.

There's probably some math/research that could be done into things like pivoting to a monoculture situation if you're trying to fill out a quota then there might be a breakpoint where it does/doesn't make sense to go for it

I've been using the expensive reroll option for worth several millions, still don't have full set of level 10 farmers and only one device full of level 10 mappers.

6x level 8 will likely be able to handle "alch'n'go" style lower red maps fine, 6xT9 will be able to handle up to T16 similarly. It's 8-mod T16s and T17s where you really need the level 10s at.
And because of the cost of replacing those level 10s as they randomly keep dying anyway, I don't use that device for anything else than 8-mod t16s.

When the league came out I was pretty deep into BG3 (got a late copy given to me as a birthday gift) so I kinda league started Hexblast mines. I guess I'm not a fan of that play style. I'm looking to possibly start over and level another character.

I'd like to try to do 36/40 to get the portal effect.

Any advice on a build that can do this with as little investment as possible, that is still new player friendly. I have a lot of hours in the game but still don't understand much beyond just following guides.

As far as I know Rogue Exiles as well as pack size help a lot. Running Eogue Exiles and Ritual is a nice combo. If RE spawn in Ritual area, you can fight them several times. Just try to remember which Ritual had the most of them and do this one first

Elder influence scarab with 2 mod titanic scarab is another good option for gold.

you can send boats to ports. you can also send a lot of stuff (crops for example) inside those bots with a max capacity of 50million. The more you send the more you'll get from it. A "50million value boat" of crops would give you a good amount of currency (maybe a mirror shard).

Depends on what you want and how strong your build is. You could spec for ambush, duplicate div cards, and scry a good map onto Mausoleum. Then your best combo (imo) is the containment scarab, the "boss steals div cards" scarab, and the other 3 ambush scarabs that are limited to one each. (I think that's rare types, chance to reopen, and increased effect)

I un-spec'd the currency and map boxes part of the duplication wheel, which let me get like 4-6 div boxes in each map (small pool, not sure if there's a wider range), and I had between 400 and 800 cards on the boss at the end.

Just be careful with rolling the maps for rarity/quant, because if you get something like "unique monsters are possessed" then the boss will SUCK

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that the blue altar for duplicating div cards will apply to the boss as well when it drops the cards

Technically, it depends on the level of your farmers

Very very minorly, but there is a difference in value produced per hour

Best layout, as Banter said, is Blue Zanthium in the two middle plots, and one each of the other four in the outer ends. Generically speaking, you're going to want your highest level farmers on BZ, with the next highest farmers on Orgourd, and so on.

Actually, as I try to put together an example, I realize that I'm just being dumb; there's never a situation where you'd want to deviate from having the highest-available farmers on the highest value crops. There's some very minor variation in the value produced by a specific level farmer depending on the crop (IE a t9 on wheat makes 7716 value/hour, while on BZ they only make 7704 value/hour), but hiring a t8 to do the farming instead would be a significant step down in value across the board.

Are league starters just that? Do most players who play throughout the league move onto other more powerful builds with uniques? I'm not feeling great about my archnova mage and wonder if i shoudl start a new char with new goals now that i have league currency. I'm on consol so theres less of a market, all upgrades i see in guides require major currency to complete. My archmage has felt very squishy even with 100 suppress

Depends on the build. Most league starters are capable of killing t16 and some t17 bosses. Others like LS just are busted.

In my case, I always do a simple starter build (lately it's usually been frostblink+firetrap) that I can get into the point where it does alch'n'go red maps comfortably with almost no investment, with the main "goal" being to get a feel of what the league mechanic is like.

And then, IF the mechanic feels enjoyable, I either start minmaxing the starter build, or create a second build. In this league I chose to create a second build (Cyclone CwC Soulrend of the Spiral), which is now at level 100, 42M-ish dps, with around 350div invested on it and almost nothing to upgrade, so I actually don't really know what to do next as I never create more than two characters per league.

Just remember that people generally pay a premium to avoid RNG - so the more likely you are to hit a specific modifier, especially one that's in high demand, the higher the cost to do it will be.

Personally, I'd run the maps and hope to get lucky, using beasts on misc extra crafts (roll unique belts or something) and sell off whatever beasts I don't need/want. But that's just me

I'm fortunate enough that I can dedicate the time to grinding for a while even if it's not super efficient - you may or may not have that same luxury. Do it in the way that works best for you! cc: @winged canyon

I encountered the Black Knight in a log book expedition. Died a few times but killed him and got one power rune. I’m level 93 and this was my first encounter. I didn’t know he could spawn in log books. Is this encounter completely random or are there ways to increase odds of finding him in maps?

No. Methods of turning an item into a unique item also don't work on items with one of these enchantments.

asssuming your farm is fully upgraded and all farmers are the same rank: you'd produce all 5 different crops and double one of them. Layout and which crop you double seems to have no effect on value produced, eg. at all rank 10 farmers it's always a little over 6m per day.

is there a good alternative to titanic scarab in terms of gold farming? I have only 20m dps and that's not enough to do this strat

personally, i'd never ship anything with a risk of >0%. common strat is to have 3 low level shippers (rank 2+ is fine), 1 on each boat, each shipping just 2 verisium bars to either riben fell (3 scarabs, 2 runes, each) or to the other close port (3-9 stacked decks each) every 30-35 minutes. And then send 50m shipments to riben fell when you have them available using 6x rank 10 shippers for 0% risk.

personal preference. if i have to save up 8 full days to send 50m i don't want a 7% chance to lose 25-100% of that or however the math works out for that.

risk can also cause loss of a sailor, so it might hurt if the one you lose is the rank 10
