For ranged I like toxic rain Pathfinder. It's tanky, relatively quick, respectable damage, levels smoothly. Lightning arrow deadeye is faster at map clear but squishy, expect to die.

Buy "The Baron" (helmet) and "Mon'tregul's Grasp" (one-handed weapon), make sure the rest of your gear has %life whenever you can, and flat +life modifiers otherwise, cap your resistences (you'll lose 30% at the end of Act 5 and Act 10, so you're really aiming for ~150% total res for each element), and try to stack strength up to around 1k total

@lean sinew you don't need to have the exact gear that the build uses. If it's got a ring with 30% cold and 40% fire, and a second ring with 30% cold and 20% lightning, you could buy one that's 40% cold and 10% fire, if the other ring had 20% to all elements and 10% fire. It'd still be the same total resistances

You do not want to copy items specifically. A good guide should give you an idea of what stats are important but generally life, resistance, spell suppression wherever you can get it

If you're able to take the time and find gear combos that work, you'll be able to get to at least yellow maps using low cost gear. At that point you should be able to farm for more gear, currency, or higher value items you can sell on the player market

Killing mobs is how you get XP to level up, as well as how you get items. The league mechanic layers on top of that, so you don't need to go out of your way to find the enemies that get used for crafting - they'll just show up as you're playing

Once they're dead, you use the 'collect' button on their gui, and then put them in a grave in the graveyard (an area that'll be unlocked once you find a mob that does that)

Once you have the corpse, no you don't have to fight it again as far as I know

IMO, unless you're super comfortable with the game, you should never be running with normal-quality gear. Magic gear is better innate stats, plus you have explicit modifiers - at worst, they just won't have any effect (like life on hit if you're not using a skill that hits)

Realistically, map sustain means to be getting enough drops that you can both fill out the atlas (running all the different maps) and be generating some amount of currency through trades and raw loot drops

If you can't survive the map, double-check that you've done all the side quests, and possibly go farm something lower-level like Blood Aquaduct to get a few points on the passive tree to get stronger

Fun fact, it appears that the lantern modifiers are consistent if you generate new instances of the same zone - IE farming Aquaduct. But even constantly going in/out, they seem to be tied to time as a randomizer - I was able to make half a dozen instances with the same mods in the same sequence, and as soon as it ticked over to the next minute, it was new mods

they made syndicates rather bad for scarab drops even at T4. From my rather small experience so far, they only drop the basic scarabs at 5 stacks, no idea if higher map level = better scarabs but for now at the low levels its absolutely terrible. 1st edit looks like you can get other scarabs still seems to be weighted compared to in the past where you were guaranteed a specific rarity
