OK, maybe it's because I'm only in act 2 so far? But so far, every single affliction forest has been either 1) a few scattered wisps here and there and nothing else, or 2) one "trail" of wisps which always leads to a little clearing with 3-4 treasure chests. I haven't found anything else in a forest yet. What am I missing? Or do I just need to get to higher acts, or have I just been stupid unlucky, or ?

It's mostly about getting the ascendancy you desire, so try to follow matching colored wisp, then at some point npcs can give you quests that reward extra wildwood ascendancy points.

this was a huge problem in League of Legends too, your ISP decides the route to the end host, and (as seen) sometimes it can route you into bad network nodes with nothing you can do except a VPN
