RF lost a bit of bossing, but gained a SIGNIFICANT amount of leaguestart capability this league (to the extent that you can start using RF from act 2)
And that loss of bossing might be made up for by crucible anyway.

you download it and it's the main file for the game
after they take the servers down for patching....
you copy the file over to the main poe game folder... then launch it's just a 4mb patch usually at that point which loads the gateway data
that way you don't have to wait for the normal patcher to fully download the patch which usually run around 10gig or so

Venom Gyre has great DPS but it's lower in survivability than RF. RF is tanky but doesn't have the dps crit builds do

More than 50% early on is a death sentence regardless cuz the mobs it spawns are not to be messed with. But 50% or less they are still normal mobs

really early on yes, could kite well enough at the end of act 1, and melting them in act 2 (if by 50% you mean 50% of the bar, cause I think you can charge MORE than a bar, but not yet tried that)

you need a special crucible map to unlick trees on uniques yes, but also yes you can chance an item with tree into a unique, which might be the way to go for some uniques anyway.

it's rng. I have found some passives which unfortunately doesn't help with my build. RF gets an early boost thanks to fire res directly contributing to flat life regen thanks to mastery though.
