Disappointing, but not unexpected. I think the main issue is that ggg's/Chris Wilson's vision for the game no longer aligns with the player bases' vision of the game. Yeah there might be a bit of overlap, but it seems more like ggg wants to keep on living in the diablo 2 era of arpgs with the recent changes. The other issue, is that you introduce one of the most profitable league mechanics ever with Sentinel, and then put out this league where you get jack shit half the time.

Honestly, I am not even sure about that. I mean, they've shown us Campaign gameplay that is also used for promotional material for new players. You cannot market some average juiced Cyclone-build map clear and expect it to work. The slow gameplay in gameplay vids may be more to show the new features, polished animations and visual effects and stuff.
But other stuff? The gem/link changes basically mean that now EVERY build can have an AoE and a single target skill, as well as more powerful utility. It already means that some aspects will be harder, because you are expected to use it.

PoE is still great as a game, but it'd be nice to be able to achieve end-game objectives without having reward mechanics being gutted every league, so we can progress at all without feeling like we're running in butter.
