the sword is so that you can take the mastery for 60% incr dmg while dual wielding with 2 different weapon types, and possibly for benefits on Gladiator. Also, if it's in your main hand, it lets you leap slam instead of Whirling Blades, if that's your preference

Claw is better because you get life on hit, so you can use lifetap for free, and it lets you run no leech maps if you use it on your travel skill as well
