but yeah, I hadn't really considered it that much before, but "Active Skill Gem" is just the name of an item basetype. Any item base can theoretically grant an active skill (and many do), but the Active Skill Gem base item type is just notable for every single item granting an active skill.

Other properties of the Active Skill Gem item basetype include:
-Can be socketed into gem sockets of a matching color
-Can gain xp while equipped
-When maxed out on xp, can "level up" causing the granted active skill to increase in level
-Can be modified with the Divine Font (while not corrupted)
-Can be corrupted for a variety of effects
-Can theoretically be enchanted

ehit Slayer is a pretty squishy build early, its mainly designed to map blast early on, rather than take on bosses. It can get sort of tanky, but in order to do so it needs a) capped spell suppression b) a bunch of endurance charges and c) a decent amount of max life, which is hard to get on the bottom right side of the passive tree

but that should be pretty free

This does hurt your ability to stack frenzy charges though, which is the main thing Slayer wants to be doing.

From what I can see you get the fracture, then dense fossil spam til two T1 prefixes, then do suffixes with eldricht currency

• Spam dense fossils til T1% Eva/ES, T1 Flat Eva/Es
• Make Eater dominant, use eldricht annuls and exalts on suffix til you get one suffix you like
• Prefix cannot be changed, add/remove Fire and hope for T1
