best thing to do is path to essence first, get all the nodes you need, but you'll probably have a lot left over so path into something else if you want and block anything you don't want to see in maps. I don't think it increases the chances of MORE essences, just increases the chances that essences "in general" will spawn in your map. Generally picking all the nodes for essences gets it to 100% anyways so it's just for your own QoL and to get a mirage to spawn close to essences ranther than anything else that might appear.
