no, here is how it works:

• if the totem hits with a non-crit, it gains a power charge. this doesn't do anything, because totems have 0 maximum power charges, and also they don't use their own offensive stats.

• if the totem crits, it loses all power charges. this doesn't do anything, because it has no power charges.

• if you hit with a non-crit, you gain a power charge. this will give you 50% increased crit chance, which will affect the crit chance of your totems too, because they use your offensive stats.

• if you hit with a crit, you lose all power charges. this means you lose some crit, usually.

for the last two, it doesn't matter if you're able to deal damage, a hit (and a crit) still counts even if it deals 0 damage.

and you think it won’t feel like a downgrade? most of the vids I saw seemed around <50d invested and not that impressive, didn’t seem “safe” as surefire better build
