in most games "Pure Damage" is used for forms of damage from bosses or whatever that's supposed to be lethal no matter what, since it can't be reduced by any means. But PoE also has damage redirection, like in Energy Shield or MoM, and it'd feel kind of bad if "Pure Damage" somehow bypassed all forms of damage redirection also

there's, like, levels of damage prevention, and ES is in the last step, "life loss redirection", where you've already taken the damage, it's just a question of exactly which numbers the damage is going to be reducing
