How to Find Fractured Walls in the Azurite Mines in PoE 1

Fractured walls are found in side passages in the azurite mines. They have a specific appearance (https://i.imgur.com/wu4Ul18.jpg), and a minimap icon that appears once you get close to them (https://i.imgur.com/uoZJQ6C.png). There are two types of fractured wall.

The first type spawns in side passages along an existing path. To find these, you can divide the mines map into a grid like so: https://i.imgur.com/kctPRk6.png. All squares within this grid that contain a path but no encounter will have a fractured wall somewhere along the path. In the example above these squares are marked with red dots. Once in that square, you just have to check every side passage for a wall. Side passages that have walls are always straight, always on the outside of the main path if it's curved, usually on corners, usually short, and never connect to other passages.

The second type of fractured wall opens up new paths to otherwise inaccessible encounters. If you ever see an encounter on the map with no visible way to reach it, there will be a wall nearby that you can break to open the path. Honestly I probably wouldn't block too much, personally. Maybe some of the lowest-value mechanics, but that's it. It's all gambling, and getting a payout more consistently - even if it's lower value - is going to be a higher profit in the long run. Which you can then use to buy the stuff you actually want.

At one point I was buying multiple divines worth of the lowest-value scarabs and then vendor-trading and I was making a consistent multiple div profit each time.

current league (Keepers) is alright, a lot of people don't like the mechanic but honestly I think the biggest issue is that it's replacing Breach, a much-beloved mechanic. The defend and fortress encounters are slow, sure, but we've has slower league mechanics before

but it replacing Breach is just extremely unfortunate

the Foulborn uniques and Bloodline ascendancies are very nice for buildcraft though, if that's something you care about
