I believe running it in a VM is fine, as long as you're still getting one action in-game per click/keystroke. So no bots through a VM, but a "I run Linux and POE only works on Windows" is fine. I think.

Also to answer this super briefly - a VM is a Virtual Machine, basically just lets you have an imaginary computer inside your real computer. Super useful for programming and such b/c you're usually protected from major problems by not having it on the "real" hardware

It's more complex than that, but if you aren't working in the field then IMO that's a solid enough explanation to know what's happening
