Woespike is built entirely off of two synergistic skills that are really bad on their own, a "setup" skill that hits really really hard once, and a "payoff" skill that hits super fast but extremely weakly, and neither of those things are particularly good for general non-woespike gameplay

though the second one is probably somewhat better, as long as it's not cyclone

on the other hand, one of the best sources of Woespike impale is Vaal Flicker Strike, a very rare vaal skill

so you could just play flicker lmao
