You have the regular pool of passive points, and then the weapon set passives. You can assign any passive point as a weapon set passive, up to the maximum number (24 after finishing campaign by default), allowing you to assign it separately between set 1 and 2. The benefit is that you could have one set with, for instance, passives to improve your Curses, and the other with damage for your offensive skills, allowing you to get the benefits of both without needing to waste points on either thing when they're not needed.
I get that res changes in endgame, but how do I see what is negating my res from my gear? I can’t seem to survive for a long time in maps

well first of all your rings are atrocious, think about getting 'add to attacks' and res mainly
second why do you need more spirit? You only need 15 spirit on amulet for everything so you can get the one with 15 implicit and be fine
third, you can easily get a 400+es helm with double res for less than a div
500+ is also cheap

get your ring first and buy helmet and boots and amulet accordingly to match res

i have a question about cast on crit builds - does damage at all factor into how often it gains energy? like I am running oracle right now, with the inevitable crit node allocated and what I understand is that my crit rate is basically 100% but the damage is reduced based on the number of times it re-rolls. i'm noticing that coc doesn't trigger as much on packs of normal enemies and I'm wondering if the reduced damage is factoring into that somehow

I'm trying to rough out a Blood Mage COC build in HC, but I don't have to currency for Fast Metabolism anoint. I've just been pathing all the damn way down and I'm using Soul Tether and Atziri's Acuity. I have 7k energy shield currently, lvl 88, but it still feels a little bit bumpy. And it doesn't deal as much damage as I want.
If I went MOM/EB, do I still need Fast Metabolism? Does Energy Shield Leech restore Mana if you have Eldritch Battery?

I just got to maps yesterday, did a couple low level maps with Spark and it was eh, tried Frost Bolt it was eh, got to leech temple and now I can do lower maps easier, but I got scared and thought I should go back to the drawing board after getting to low ES levels in a T11
RIP is scary and Blood Mage Leech is kind of chaotic
do you know if ES leech restores mana if you have EB?
coc bloodmage is pretty much one of the more expensive builds especially if you dont know what to get at bare minimum, definitely not a great first build if you are not at least following a guide

your vilenta's propulsion is completely useless in your build
you should have cost efficiency on gloves/helmet instead of support in spark
rapid casting and pierce are not the best spark supports imo

if you have 100% reduced slowing potency of debuffs, and then have temporal chains on you, do you still get the "buffs expire slower" part of temporal chains? Or does that get nullified as well?

looks like they use frost bomb as well as TWO curses, due to their minions gaining so much damage as extra chaos. solid debuff setup especially with shock and wither
In terms of debuffing, is there a big difference between elemental weakness + frost bomb for elemental damage compared to despair and withered stacks for chaos damage?
I'd say chaos is better, curses and exposure have a 50% less effective on unique enemies; wither doesn't, and wither is a damage taken multiplier like shock, but it requires more work to put up wither
sutff normally has 0 chaos res, more often than ele at least. so cursing alone, without exposing, reaches the same levels on average

when you want to ignite with a non fire skill or scale elemental on a physical skill, it's niche, like every other keystones

yeah, you could just get like, one piece of ES body armour and that takes care of all survivability alone lol
outside of asphyxia's builds, reverse chill builds are generally somewhat squishy
since they by and large sacrifice the chest + glove slots
you can do chest + heartbound loop/fireflower/scold's instead but that method seems quite janky compared to shackles
since the self-hit damage is quite tiny
you'd prolly have to go CI and have like literally 0 ES to ele ailment threshold
ugh, worst luck ever... took me 44 divs and then 34 divs to roll a 1/10 chance twice :/

I am new player playing a rampage druid shaman build. It doesn’t use minions or anything. Why does the build guide have: “Allies in your Presence deal 104% increased Damage”. From my understanding this is of no benefit to me so why does the build have it? It is not a support build so I know it is not because of that.

Fellas, I love using rend and getting power charges to just tear through everything but the issue I'm having is there is nothing for me to devour to get power charges in (most) boss fights and end up being unable to use my main damage, how can I circumvent this? lvl 32 for ref, don't know what relevant info to provide so do ask for any if need be

You may want to provide more info than that. A class alone says very little about what you're doing, and what you're having issues with.
Working on a beefy build right now with smith, mainly armor stacking and armor applies to element. I have around 8000 armor at base right now and 12000 applied to all elements. 1200 life and 50 life regen, 117 regen when standing still (unique ring), all resistances are max right now and my main damage is iron ward and deadly resolve on resonating shield. Currently lvl 42 on act 3.
While this is true, the fact that they make that mistake means it's very likely they're using a quarterstaff
Question about Fork/Chain/Pierce, especially with Snakepit and Frostbolt: I understand that a bullet cannot hit, Fork and then after Forking, then Chain. That would obviously create an infinite loop. Can a piercing bullet even fork or chain? And if so can they stack for that one single first hit? (bullet hits enemy, pierces X through enemy, forks X and chains X, they hits enemy and stops there, no piercing/splitting/forking).
Even then, there's at least a few directions you could be going with using Quarterstaves, so advice that's relevant to one build may not be for another.
Oh of course, not to mention what the actual problems with any given execution of that build might be; Follow-up questions remain essential

at least as far as i can tell, if you get 1 ricochet the second ricochet off dominus is guaranteed
even if you only had 50% chance of the 1st
but you need some method to make the proj not end on the monster
Yeah, gotta pierce twice
either pierce twice, or pierce then fork
the exception is if you're doing oil barrage nova proj salvo
because like 80-90% of the initial projectiles don't hit the boss first
they hit the ground first and ricochet onto the boss
so a singular pierce/fork will be enough
it'll go ground -> ricochet onto boss -> pierce or fork -> ricochet onto boss
with fork, the forked oil barrage projectiles fly too far to ricochet back onto the boss naturally
so they must either hit a wall, or hit a frost wall
with pierce you don't need either, because ricochet targets the monster
so it'll go
ricochet off ground -> hit and pierce monster (it'll look like it isn't piercing because it stops right on the monster, but it's actually piercing and simply landing on the ground right "below" the monster because that's where the initial target location was) -> ricochet back onto monster

so i'm assuming if you have 1 pierce 1 fork it'll go
bonestorm -> hits and pierces boss -> ricochets off ground onto boss -> forks off boss onto ground -> ricochets back onto boss

but i'm fairly sure that's how it works for oil barrage - i was doing testing on this earlier today

spears have rly low base dmg cus 1h
need good flat from rings
boots are super poop, if you're not going for ms% boots cus of whirling then you can get way higher eva boots than that
astramentis is pretty poop compared to a rare amu
you can look for some mix of +3 proj, spirit, eva%, life, max life%, resists on a rare amu
amazon kinda not very useful if you're noncrit
you basically only have 2 actual nodes from amazon, open weakness and stalking panther
that amulet is giving me like 30k dmg
why's that matter
it's mathematically a lot worse than a rare amu
you only want it if you absolutely need it for attributes
all the attack speed with high crit spears are 9000div
if you want higher dmg noncrit, the type of setup you're using isn't particularly good at a baseline tbh
you're kinda just losing half your ascendancy + aren't running a setup that gets a lot of %inc dmg naturally
high crit spears are expensive but not 9000d expensive
you can absolutely get one for less

if u want to stay roughly with ur current setup that's fine

no they're whatever dmg profile you have
phys dmg is important if you have gain phys as ele%, you rly need armour break and don't have spirit of wolf rite of passage, or if you need phys dmg for leech
you don't have gain phys as ele%, you're amazon so you don't need phys dmg for leech
but you do need armour break for ur resonance so
it is probably a good idea to have a decent amt of phys
but it's probably good if u look up a basic video on how dmg scaling works in poe2
you might be mistaking it with how conversion etc works in poe1
well, one way or another you don't necessarily have to change setups to make upgrades
- invest in some better rings with good flat
or just 1 ring and a kalandra's
- set up some weaponsets
weaponsets offer a ton of dmg potential
you can separate out some of your attack speed onto a whirling slash set for better movement
and take dmg nodes on ur twister/glacial lance set
i'd start there before anything else

you get 24 points to assign to each wepset tree
the red and green points
red wepset 1 = whirling
green wepset 2 = dmg
your dmg weapon doesn't need to have high attack speed, cus u whirl with the skysliver
dmg weapon prio is high flat dmg (+crit if going crit)
I guess those builds are focusing more on dmg than evasion or deflection which is what I have focused more

this is a fairly reasonable purchase for the price point imo
assuming you set up a skysliver/rare AS spear in wepset 1 and bind whirling slash to it
you don't really need attack speed on your actual damage wep since you just throw out twister

the next spear with this much flat for an amazon doesn't rly show up till 400divs+ or so

i would do it vaguely like this
psuedo - total ele
pseudo - total chaos (weight 2)
and then put a weighted sum minimum where the x is
this will value 20 chaos res as equivalent to 40% of an ele res
if you want chaos res even more you can bump it to 2.5 weighting
this will catch all res on implicit + suffixes including from hybrid resists

you can just swap some of your runes to chaos resist% soul cores
so for example that 1div ring is mega underpriced in relation to its value to your setup, so if i were you i'd be willing to grab it, fire qual it, and swap to some chaos res soulcores accordingly (assuming it actually fits with your resists)

my life is also 0,5, but my chaos res is 6, flat damage around 15
there is no way 10% chaos res is as good as 40 life like in your search
and with your flat damage value it might just not find rings with enough flat damage. what I often do is a separate group for flat damage
and many mods are missing ofc
this was like a 15 second parameter i set up for him to tune the constraints for his own build
i'm not fine-tuning weightings in a case where i don't even know what resists he needs and in what amounts
10% cres = 40 max life is fine to me as a baseline parameter on a build that's fine with either on a ring, not sure what you mean
that's a 25% cres to 100 maxlife ratio, roughly matching up with their t1 mod values
if someone wants life more they can bump the number up, if they want cres more they can bump the number up
because he's running a couture of crimson build and working on a budget
if this were a search for triple flat breach ring on a 5000d budget then naturally the flat values would be separated out
for his case specifically, it's perfectly fine if the parameters turn up a triple flat ring or double flat with life, or even single flat with life and rarity pre's because he's lacking in all 3
he can browse through the results and pick accordingly
because they're not mods he's looking for
the t1 values can match, but the effect on survivability will not, or how expensive these mods are on rings, I strongly believe 0,5 life, 3 ele res, 6 chaos res is the golden standard

i don't normally put life with as much weighting on rings
but couture of crimson 1.5x's your max life total with leech overflow
he's running around purely with life pool and 0 ES/sorc ward etc
so getting good flat life rolls is really important for him to not get oneshot
so yea i consider t1 life and t1 chaos res both of high value for him
a good hitpool is necessary to survive all damage types, whereas chaos res only helps vs the least common damage typing
and an evasion couture setup typically won't have a ton of max life coming from str stack because dex based gear - so good flat life rolls become even more important
also eva builds typically have a much easier time with chaos dmg as is; you avoid most of the shotgun chaos hits from the breach tentacle mob that's typically most dangerous in standard play
on a couture + evasion setup i'd rather have a good hitpool first even if it means i can't quite cap out chaosres, as opposed to having fully capped resists but a mega small life pool
(though of course in the end you'd like to invest enough currency to get both)
even on a non-couture build i would never use 0.5/3/6 parameters
if a build doesn't care about life it shouldn't have life in its search parameters
and if it does care about life, a 0.5/3/6 split doesn't make sense
life is a pre, resists are suffixes/implicits
searches should be maximizing value to your build but also maximizing rolls per affix
0.5 to 6 equates 10 chaos res to 120 max life
that's equating a tier5 suffix to a perfectly divined tier 1 prefix
if a perfect div'd t1 prefix is worth the same thing to your build as nearly the lowest tier of a resist possible, imo that prefix shouldn't even be in the parameters

so i tested Vaal Siphoner and you can do crazy things with it
but need a lot of patience and time
for example, you can boost 1 mod on amulet (all other 5 mods will be siphoned from maximum tier to lowest)
but this mod will be huge, may be will be useful for some niche builds.
for example
- 56% to int/dex/str
- 280% ES/eva/armour from body
- 67% cooldown recovery rate
- 28% quality of all skills
etc.etc.
but this will be amulet with only one useful mod.
you can fracture Spirit 50 or +3 skills and also do the same as above, just final values will be not so high, due to less available mods to siphon from

I'm (Infernalist) thinking of a workaround using Warcry to remove ignite (passive keystone node), and Warcry's cd can be bypassed by consuming an endurance charge.
If I take resonance then I need to generate power charges.
So either power or endurance, what is the most effective way to do so as a Spellcaster. I just need 1 charge regularly rather than a whole bunch since 1 charge would remove the cd for warcry already?

you self ignite every time you crit, so you’d have to warcry constantly to clear the ignites
should just get ignite immunity, 100% reduced ignite mag on you, or 92%+ reduced duration of ignite on you

there’s tons of methods for charge generation if you do want them
for pcharges cast on crit profane ritual, cast on minion death profane ritual with boneshatter minion pact, ailiths chimes culmination II on something like pounce or chayula with a strike skill like shred or whirling assault, voll’s protector, temple-modded red flare conduit, resonance + any frenzy charge gen method like sniper’s mark or combat frenzy
endu can be generated with ferocious roar + roaring cries + raging cries warcry spam, armour break III on any skill that you fully break armour on, fury of the mountain + brambleslam + rage forged I combo if you have rage, resonance on any of the pcharge generation methods
scold’s/self dmg with the notable that makes you take % phys as random element with the respective frenzy/power charge on dmg taken unique charms, etc
infusion of power to generate charge every time you consume an infusion, pcharge generation skills like lingering illusion, killing palm, devour
temple-modded hateforge on rage builds, charge profusion/serpents egg/other gain extra charge on charge gain stuff with any of the above charge gen methods
there's more methods ofc but those are some of the main ways charges are generated
i've no idea what build you're playing so idk which would fit

Penetration isn't that valuable if you are using a Curse, Exposure or Rakiata's (or even without those, you can do insane amounts of damage in this game and most enemies don't have all Resistances), 6% more damage from Shock is more valuable, though
another thing is your time lost jewel, you are not abusing it enough, maybe get a from nothing for Conduit, take way more notables

i have rakiatas, its just not on the build so i didnt know where I could slot it in
but yes, even if you ignore penetration, 6% more from shock would already be 3% damage per skill point which is great

Okay sorry new player here. Crossbows and bows are really fun. Being werewolf is also very fun. I know it’s probably not the most efficient to build hybrid, but I am curious. If one wanted to do hybrid for fun, is it better to try to build for damage between ranged and melee skills, or is it more feasible just to use ranged as an opener to apply frost buildup

A lot of this question can be framed as, "can I scale damage with both talisman and bows/crossbows?" And the answer is definitely yes. Wolf skills have a lot of cold affinity, and bows/crossbows can build around cold as well.
The movement component of talisman skills being melee vs ranged is a mechanical thing to figure out, but any passives or mods that give +% to cold or elemental damage (and not specifically to ranged/melee) would benefit both.

I've never built a character around the particular weapon combo you're talking about, but one interesting way you might be able to do it is go Pathfinder, and take all the nodes that give bonuses to swapping between ranged and melee.
Pathfinder would also allow you easy access to the cold and freeze passives from Witch's area of the tree + some mobility QoL.

Spells scale more than Attacks do, though it depends on the skill. Spells are usually around 12% more damage per level, Attacks are usually around 6%.
You could check your main skill on poe2db and see how much damage you'd gain from those +5 levels, or use PoB2

How much currency you have. Some builds require expensive items and don't work well without them, others work right from the start but don't scale as well.

You've already been given suggestions for starter builds, #2┃general message. You're not going to get the strongest possible build at the start, and frankly, you do not need anything close to strongest to clear everything in the game.

Wand, rings, and staff would provide way more dmg if changed/upgraded.
Using Blackflame Keystone, inc fire dmg doesnt do anything for you. You'd want a wand without Inc (ele) dmg.
Same for your rings. Additional spells levels will give a really nice boost aswell.
That Vertex helm doesnt seem to be doing anything for you either. Not with with its current mods.
Presumably you'd want one with +4 skills.
Since youre on Standard (I dont remember if the nerf to Bloodletting affected ALL gems) Bloodletting is huge boost also
This Ember Fullisade Support set up makes no sense to me either.
You dont deal any Lightning dmg with the current set up so Living Lightning is a dead support.
Xoph' Pyre also should be dead because you no longer deal fire damage. You deal Chaos.
Cast on Crit does NOT create Remnants. Harmonic Remnants II is a dead support.
Take this back.. forgot about Snap.
If you added in an Auto Ice Wall you'd gain a ton of damage on bosses as well

I'm running Heat of the Forge. Because the energy gained is based on the percentage of enemy ailment threshold the hit will deal, this means Flammability Magnitude would have no affect on this mechanic, correct?
I would actually need to simply stack fire damage instead?
Correct, though it doesn't have to be fire damage specifically, any Ele damage can generate energy.
i feel like im quite weak
So my plan is to stack elemental damage, and run Heat of the Forge as well as Mjolner together so that when I hit it spams both lightning and fire spells. Any suggestions for a primary attack or combination of attacks that would be best for this? Currently looking at Volcanic Fissure / Stampede combo but I feel like there is something better out there.
I've never done a Mjolner build. It's on my list for next league. But sounds like a really cool build thematically!

Mjolner write-up is nearly exactly the same as the Heat of the Forge, just for lightning.
I highly doubt this will be actually effective without a ton of investment, but visually I'm really enjoying it so far. I just hit 58 so I'm adding in Cast on Ele Ailment and taking all the triggered spell dmg / energy gen nodes on the tree. Orb of Storms and Living Bomb in my CoE for infusion generation, and Fireball / Ember Fusillade in my Fire Spell on Hit to make use of those and boost damage.
There any particular build that benefits the most from an acceleration shrine belt?
I was thinking Spark since it gives tons of projectile speed too
Or any elemental melee build since you can use a tincture
Lacking damage passives and a good weapon/amulet probably, getting a +4 level vertex would help too

I've gone from great boss damage and bad clear, to good clear but bad boss damage, to now mediocre clear and mediocre boss damage
Basically it's an ignite build, without blackflame, and using tornado
slayer for bleed bow or is the reliquarian any good?
Hey guys, need some help with my Invoker Monk build. I'm now at 82 lvl, T8-T9 maps, and it feels kinda hard, mobs are staggering/stunning on hit and as a result i'm dying a lot. Same for the Temple - fighting mobs 75+ lvl with some modificators is too hard for me.
Want to mention:
- My main skill is Ice Strike and it has around 21k DPS
- I'm playing always in party (duo with my mate that has very similar build to mine)
What can i do to improve my build and prevent being staggered by mobs?

Since you are running ES hybrid defenses, one quick way to help with stuns and ailment issues on Invoker is take the nodes up here that give ailment/stun threshold bonuses based on your energy shield
You could re-build your tree to optimize more, but a fast way to accomplish this without a lot of changing would be to pick up a From Nothing jewel with Chaos Innoculation as its listed notable. This would allow you to take both of these nodes + some good damage and freeze power in the same radius.

Here's a fast mockup I did of what that could look like. I kept changes to a minimum, but the end result is a lot more stun and ailment threshold, more damage on frozen enemies, and we pushed your Ice Strike tooltip dps up by ~2k.

I'm using supporting fire and upwelling on a banner skill, I dont see my dps go up when I'm not at full mana, anyone know why?
Just for clarity, when you say "my dps" you mean the damage of your Supporting Fire minions, right?
