SPell totems apparently do not have a less damage deal with they do in poe1. Only issue is the charges needed to summon them. But i think spell totem going to be epic in poe2. I just wonder if they will eb able to use channeling spells like ember and bone storm. idk what will be great. But spell totem is def on my radar. Maybe exsanguinate totem.

silver urchin
#

Spell totems can use channeled skills in POE1, I don't think they would change that part of them

midnight bolt
#

can devs do math? this is so stupid

silver urchin
midnight bolt

you consume 20% more charges to go from 28% to 35% nobody gonna use it

Is there any material difference in how you scale spell totems vs self cast spell? Other than the available totem nodes on tree? Ie your spell damage scaling is the same on weapon affixes etc?

As far as I know it's the same

So it's accurate, at least as far as what GGG has shown.

silver anvil
#

Are there benefits to choosing Amazon instead of Deadeye for Lightning Spear? People swear by the Deadeye and I understand the clearspeed portion of the argument, as far as it goes, but I generally try my best to play "lore accurate" base character + weapon type.

#

Looking on poeninja I see a lot of bloodmages too. What's the benefit for those?

silver urchin
silver anvil
#

it's not that

#

i'm not looking for validation/affirmation on what i want to play

#

genuinely looking for comparison/information

#

and i guess one thing i see about amazon is the lack of defensive layers, especially on the ascendencies which seems to be a common thing that keeps a build from truly being a good well-rounder, and forcing it into a pure map blaster type of thing?

#

not sure if I can do something with the Stalking Panther node? Equip a nice defensive chest like Lightning Coil. How high does evasion rating on helm/gloves/boots even go and is it worth it?

uncut bay
#

hahah yeah man I would never pick deadeye over amazon for a bow or a spear build

silver anvil
#

oh nice okay that's a build direction i can look into then

uncut bay
#

basically your helmet, boots and gloves base evasion is doubled, every evasion buff applies on top of that

#

so you can easily have over 80% evasion and deflect in a budget build

#

I am sure you can get up to 90% with enough investment

#

just watch the conner's amazon guide for 0.3

#

the second upside here is the pure ES chest, you can easily buff ES if all your ES comes from the chest

silver anvil
#

seeing someone make it work is good, means i can safely yolo and have a fall back on

dreamy bridge
#

and if it still doesn't work, you have someone to blame other than yourself kek

teal pollen
#

So wording of the new titan mountain splitter is weird, do they mean just 3 additional aftershocks or do they mean 3 infort, 3 to one side and 3 to the other?

hoary bolt
#

3 total

teal pollen
#

ah okay

#

trying to decide on whether to use Titan or Shaman for bear form build

#

i just want to charge around crushing things in my path

#

but its deciding between the easy rage generation or extra aftershocks and small passive buffs

hoary bolt
#

depends on how much you want to hinge on ancestral cry/walking calamity

silver urchin
#

Titan will definitely be good
Shaman might be bad, or might be OP

hoary bolt
#

I think rampage is just as good and doesnt need any glory

#

just rage

teal pollen
#

rampage is the skill i want to use as my main skill but unsure whether it counts as a slam

hoary bolt
#

it does

silver urchin
#

Yeah wasn't that the specific thing they were showing off in the footage

#

Well I guess not THE thing, but one of

teal pollen
#

Yeah, what was the wording of the mountain splitter before last nights changes, has it been buffed or nerfed since last night?

hoary bolt
#

i think it was just wording clarification

#

it said 1 aftershock before

teal pollen
#

ah that makes sense

silver urchin
#

Either that, or it was described as a 2-point node and not a 4-point node

#

IDK which

teal pollen
#

I think druid will be a waste for me as I have no interest in wyvern or wolf just bear, and Im not one for spell casting

west wharf
#

shaman's choices for pure attack setups don't look too great

#

spell dmg from rage obviously mediocre; the rage gen is gated behind it

normal prawn
#

Titan bear or stormweaver storms sound fun to me

west wharf
#

apocalypse or w/e it's called doesn't have full uptime presumably

#

if you're playing an attack build that isn't able to clear the screen during its downtime then your build just aint great

teal pollen
#

Im changing my ways, I am mainly a flicker strike builder ive done it for like 4 different classes🤣

west wharf
#

the charm spirit looks very mediocre; rite of passage is near mandatory later, playing without util of anti-slow charm feels ass, and fireflower+ngamahu combo may end up bis

teal pollen
#

Ive never played warrior, if the titan screen clears good?

west wharf
#

yeah

#

tons of aoe in the warrior area amped by hulking form

teal pollen
#

you have converted me to a titan player now

west wharf
#

titan's just a really safe class

hoary bolt
#

titan is the goat ascendancy imo

west wharf
#

it doesn't have much special to it, but it basically can't be bad

teal pollen
silver urchin
#

Titan is based

teal pollen
#

how tanky is it?

silver urchin
#

It would be the most active autobomber

#

Just a bomber

hoary bolt
#

titan has 15% more life and 50% more armour from chest

west wharf
# teal pollen how tanky is it?

as far as life builds go relatively tanky, since it has life and armour perks on top of hulking form buffing armour nodes, armour to ele nodes, etc

hoary bolt
#

when combined with hulking form you have more armour than any other class

teal pollen
west wharf
#

it inevitably won't be as good at handling oneshots as like ES stacking liches by right of having smaller ehp pool but

#

on SC for most intents and purposes you feel very durable

#

on HC it's not as popular; there's basically noone on top ladder that plays pure life builds on HC

hoary bolt
#

no block due to talismans is kind of shit though

teal pollen
#

Okay brill, I mean i played Tactitian leage start last patch armour stacking and that felt really tanky

hoary bolt
#

i understand the reasoning for the limitation, but meh

west wharf
#

no pin quality of life but generally much higher dmg + aoe

teal pollen
#

I didnt have deflect from armour, just armour and elemental armour and that was it

#

pin was probably the thing that made it feel so saf

west wharf
#

then yea it'll feel like the same shit except you have like 500-1k more life

teal pollen
#

Damn Im excited now playing a whole new way of playing haha

#

only time i have used any warrior skills was when i tried to make a warrior blood mage for bleeed

hoary bolt
#

completely unrelated, but bleed spear feels so insanely comfy. Just wish the single target was better in endgame

teal pollen
#

that lasted about 3 maps and i couldnt be assed making it work 🤣

west wharf
#

it's a great class to try stuff out; titan can run like 50 different builds off nearly the identical skill tree

#

cus it just generally gives a bunch of damage and coverage

uncut bay
#

titan is booooring

hoary bolt
#

ur boring m80

west wharf
#

it's a bit boring if you like cooking really specific interactions

#

cus it's just generic stats for the most part

teal pollen
hoary bolt

titan is good at that too

#

hulking form is great at scaling niche tree passives

uncut bay
hoary bolt
#

such as reduced duration

teal pollen
#

I like to be able to press one or 2 buttons and the screen explodes

#

and it has to be explodes it cant just be it just dies

uncut bay

hoary bolt

speaking of unfathomably boring

silver urchin
teal pollen
#

Just playing Invoker flicker strike

#

its going to be easier than ever with the 50% meta res

#

Invoker flicker strike is like gambling every time you hit the skill, will you wont you end up in the middle of a bunch of enemies and get one shot

west wharf
#

i rly want to see the #s on deadeye's new mirage thing

hoary bolt
#

btw on thet topic of bleed spear, I realized today that Rapid Assault combines all spearhead explosions into a single hit for the purposes of ailments

#

kind of insane considering they're also buffing the explosion by 2x

uncut bay
#

jokes aside I am thinking maybe to play bloodmage spark this league? this wouldn't be boring

hoary bolt
#

at gem level 20 its a 2720% damage explosion

primal strikes is buffed btw, looks great

west wharf

hoary bolt

dunno if jumps are characterised as leaps lmao

i wonder if that new leap explodey support will be any good

hoary bolt

it is yes

woven depot

it being base corpse % makes me think it could be

had it just been 6% corpse hp it wouldve been soo ass

west wharf

i'm a huge fan of holy descent utility; i wonder if any cool leap-primary builds will pop up this league with other forms of movement nerfed

#

actually i wonder if u can seamlessly like throw a grenade -> disengage with no delay

hoary bolt
#

well it has a 1.5s cd

west wharf
#

you do stack a decent bit of cd on grenade builds anyhow tbf

#

and could crest of ardura with the spear

hoary bolt

thats true

even stampede is solidly quick with ms/as investment

west wharf

Explosive Spear says:

Ignited Ground Ignites enemies as though dealing the explosion's damage
Does that mean that if the explosion crits, the ignited ground will deal more damage? Or just that the ignite's damage is based on the attack damage of the explosion?

#

I think the latter. And even if I do crit, I suppose that the primary target will get ignited by that anyway.

west wharf
silver urchin
#

When applied to an enemy yeah, but this seems weird

west wharf
#

at least from the wording i don't see why it'd be calculated differently from an ignite applied by the explosive spear itself

#

but who knows

silver urchin

If it does work, then that changes all of my plans. lol

Would I be able to make a poison druid build?

silver urchin

Maybe

woven depot

probably, don’t see why not

but at that point probably better to play pathfinder so you can access both the poison nodes and the shapeshift nodes

silver urchin

Disengage in particular didn't feel very intrusive to me, personally, because it helped me to reposition. Felt a bit like PoE1 whirling blades, but a bit clunkier

not like my godawful Resonating Shield > Sunder > Perfect strike (with timing ugh) > Infernal Cry > Shield Wall combo, for instance

#

And Parry should be a bit less awful to set up, based on the patch notes

#

What did y'all do last league?

I was Resonating Shield / Fortifying Cry / Shield Wall last season, and it was lots of fun and I want to explore the same sort of thing again.

They're usually warriors (Smith of Kitava, Titan, or Warbringer all work) but I'm a hipster, sooo. I started off as Blood Mage, which worked but kinda sucked and doing almost anything else as a blood mage would have been better.

Then I went Gemling Legionnaire, and I was quite happy with it. I tweaked it to use Rage to bypass Resonating Sheld cooldowns which worked great, and I could do all map mods and content with it (including 150 shard Simulacrum). I have full Atlas Map points, but I haven't tried Uber Arbiter or Kulemak yet. I used Thaumaturgic Dynamism (which NO one uses) to consistently generatte Endurance charges to bypass needing to do Perfect Strike in my bossing combo, and it was great.

I could do the same thing again, because it got straght-buffs (I'll have more max res and generate charges faster), but I'm thinking new ways of Endurance charges would let me generate without Dynamism so I can go Kitava or Shaman maybe.

which is why I went Thamaturgical Dynamism with all strength gems (which is what I was using anyway), starting boss fights with 3 Endy charges every time is money

not easily anymore, but yeah

but its a lot of armour now

honest grail
#

it's not enough to make armour applies to ele mods worth their opportunity cost

celest blaze
honest grail
#

as someone else said 90% res is still really easy

honest grail
#

then you don't know how armour applying to ele works lol

pliant solar
#

I'd argue smith is even better for it because of 25% of phys taken as fire node

cerulean kraken
celest blaze
celest blaze
pliant solar
honest grail
#

I played 0.3 without stacking any armour and just the 25% phys as fire + some on shield and could already tank all big phys slams and such

bright pine
#

it's possible to go 90 max res in lategame but before then defo best to skip max res node

honest grail
#

You can get 90 pretty quickly

#

I had everything I needed for it before getting 4th asc lol

pliant solar
#

then you get 100% reduced crit damage and defend with 200% of armour against crits
and now you have mobs critting doing less damage on you than normal hits effectively making crit mods on maps a positive

celest blaze
bright pine
#

depends how fast u are ya, and it's not necessarily worth all the investment for it early on

honest grail
#

people just copy pasted build guides with infernoclasp and the old 5% node in 0.2 and never looked at all the other/new sources you got in 0.3

bright pine
#

phys dmg is generally more scary in this game than ele for mapping

honest grail
honest grail
bright pine
#

that's just wrong

celest blaze
honest grail
#

small amount of armour handles all small hits, there are so few big phys slams and they're all dodgeable lol

pliant solar
hexed vessel
#

smith immune to crits now?

honest grail
#

and you can handle them anyway with a normal amount of life, 25% phys as fire and a pdr mod

celest blaze
pliant solar
honest grail
#

I tanked all the xesht stuff on my smith

celest blaze
honest grail
#

like bro you did not die to the phys damage

hexed vessel
#

very nice for one point

bright pine
#

not true

honest grail
#

yeah crit immunity is giga, saves two sockets generally

celest blaze
west wharf
honest grail
west wharf
#

scold's for ele immunity is a bit too obvious for them to have missed it

bright pine
#

like I said 90 max res can be good but in most cases you are much better off delaying the investment for it

honest grail
#

I wish kitava got a curse effect reduction node as well

celest blaze
celest blaze
cerulean kraken

if ur a fast/efficient player ur not gonna wanna have it anywhere near the time ur getting 4th ascendancy. It's a huge waste

#

at least it gives 50%

cerulean kraken
honest grail

idk where to find the other 50% lol

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

too bad this node is not the same, you have to choose

celest blaze
pliant solar

hope they change this node

honest grail

if kitava can get crit immune and enough curse reduction the amount of 6 mod maps you can run goes up massively

hexed vessel

smith heatproofing gonna make me immune to chilled ground?

celest blaze
cerulean kraken
west wharf
honest grail

chill isn't a damaging ailment

pliant solar
#

it says DAMAGING ailments (meaning ignite + poison + bleed)

hexed vessel

ah ok

but chilled ground is damaging to my brain, so it should work 🙁

pliant solar
honest grail
#

I never find myself dying to ailments in poe 2 tbh

celest blaze
cerulean kraken
celest blaze

(80%, after the buff that came with the limit add)

honest grail
#

I don't really want to use my anoint on that

west wharf
honest grail
#

anoint on shield smith is generally best used for the node that gives ms when you block

#

unless they change that one

pliant solar
honest grail
#

Excited to see the tree on friday and discover that all the good nodes are shit now

west wharf
#

hopefully smith node works

celest blaze
honest grail
#

I meant damaging ailments

#

sorry

pliant solar
#

but burning isnt an ignite
yet burning is a damaging ailment
so smith should work on burning ground

sharp thorn
honest grail
#

bleed and poison barely do shit in poe 2

west wharf
honest grail

maybe it's just because I run regen+leech a lot tho

west wharf

but that was a bit ago

celest blaze
pliant solar
sharp thorn
honest grail

I'd rather get the -curse effect node on the megalo lol

celest blaze
west wharf
celest blaze

I'm fully intending on being curse immune again, though, it was just too good for juiced mapping.

Ignoring all the pretty color circles is so freeing

dreamy bridge
#

seems weird that lunar blessing is the only spell while shapeshifted. walking calamity/bearpocalypse is not only an attack, but it's even a melee skill

celest blaze
#

(in general, ignited ground does almost nothing to anyone now after the change so it only applies flammability)

As long as you don't stand on it and have tea, you're fine

honest grail
#

People are also forgetting that more vaal stuff this league likely means more incoming chaos damage which will likely make chaos res more important

#

smith is so good for getting chaos res

sharp thorn
honest grail
#

I know

#

where did I say they did chaos only

celest blaze
#

I'm not confident though, it's a good question

hexed vessel
#

fire spell on hit might try living bomb out

Living Bomb: Now deals 21 to 31 Fire Damage at Gem level 3 (previously 18 to 28), scaling to 481 to 721 Fire Damage at Gem level 20 (previously 340 to 510).

celest blaze
hexed vessel
#

increase the limit to 2 with support gem

celest blaze
#

I feel like DD will be lots of fun for clear

pliant solar
#

stats are suffixes in poe2 right?

#

attributes I mean

honest grail
#

even with the buff to fire spell on hit I don't see it scaling well into an endgame build

hexed vessel
celest blaze
#

If I go Kitava, I'll likely either go all "make my chest armor godly" or take 0 nodes of it

honest grail
#

but will be useable maybe for pushing into t15+

sharp thorn
honest grail
#

I'd put money on the league mech bringing more sources of incoming chaos damage

celest blaze
honest grail
#

you could maybe go armour as ele route with 6 body nodes, you still want the fire to cold/lightning res node

#

that's their strongest node by a country mile

celest blaze
hexed vessel
#

how does the limit on living bomb work, can you only have 1 active on the map at one time? or is it per mob?

celest blaze
honest grail
#

We get double corrupt now so easier to get a good +3% max fire belt

pliant solar
#

Is there some cool tech for rage for ranged attacks?

celest blaze
#

Time Lost Jewel with a +1 max fire on it is cheap and can add massive resisst in the right spot.

honest grail
#

Heart of the Well for +2% total will be much harder to get, but they also bugfixed Unnatural Resilience and I played the whole of 0.3 without that lol

celest blaze
honest grail
#

because they took so long

pliant solar
celest blaze
pliant solar
#

there is when mobs hit you, but thats meh

celest blaze
#

and some "rage on hit taken" nodes

honest grail
#

but yeah I don't think you ever do 8 body nodes since the fire res node is so giga strong

celest blaze
#

also, there's a "chance to gain max rage when you gain rage"

honest grail
#

IMO it's the strongest ascendancy node in the game across all classes

celest blaze
honest grail
#

gimme one that's better

pliant solar
#

8 node body armour outweights it in my opinion

celest blaze
#

which frees up lots of room for stupid unique shenanigans

honest grail
pliant solar
#

sure whatever

honest grail
#

what can you take for those last 2 body nodes that is better than the fire res node

celest blaze
#

6 node + that one or 8 node are pretty comporable. +400 base armor on your chestpiece alone is nothing to sneeze at

#

I do suspect hat the 6+2 approach is the smarter one though yeah

honest grail
#

I'm pretty sure given the wording that the + armour applies to your character and not to the body itself, which is significant for stuff like the 80% inc body armour notable

celest blaze
#

sad if true

#

(you're probably right)

honest grail
#

it just says 'each notable grants +200 to armour in addition'

pliant solar
honest grail
#

still nice to get the flat armour but this is why I don't see smith being an armour stack angle

celest blaze
honest grail
celest blaze
honest grail
#

inc str helps your max hit overall so it's a bit better than those two

#

armour applying to chaos is big bait

celest blaze
#

and I think it'd probably be the right call unless you were particularly buggered by damaging ailments for some reason

pliant solar
#

Ok I have a simple question for you about the fire res node. If you're not spending suffixes on resists and attributes then why do you need this node specifically for to save this suffix budget?

honest grail
#

you spend suffixes on chaos res, +skills, rarity, and uniques

pliant solar
#

its not like you win prefixes for extra damage with it

celest blaze
honest grail
#

I mean your max hit taken

pliant solar
#

oh yeah right rarity thing, cant wait when they delete it from the game finally

celest blaze
honest grail
#

also gloves can give attack speed

pliant solar
#

uniques yeah, but its hard to say how suffocated we are with new supposedly good uniques now

celest blaze
pliant solar
honest grail
#

though I'm probably doing hateforge memes

pliant solar
#

its suffix actually

celest blaze
#

5% str is not a huge deal unless you're deliberately STR stacking or trying to run Giants Blood with 212 str 2 handers, imo

#

Source: done both

honest grail
#

it's 15% inc str

pliant solar
#

20% str and 15% inc life nodes

celest blaze
honest grail
#

oh yeah it's 20% lol

pliant solar
#

20% is a lot

celest blaze
#

oh, shit, no I was wrong. Yeah 20% is a lot. shit.

honest grail
#

yeah it's good flat life

celest oxide
#

So are most starting Warrior for Shapeshifting? Or still Druid

honest grail
#

also if you want to forgo max res and do armour applies to ele you need more mods for that which are also suffixes lol

celest oxide
#

I guess we need to see the druid ascendencies

honest grail
#

so the fire res node wins again

#

and it gets more value out of the 75% body node if you take that

#

and you can get more flat str on gear if you want to lifemaxx

#

or go GB

celest oxide
#

Titan seems good but I don't think we can get all the Slam Nodes + Hulking Form at the same time? Idk I've never played Warrior tbh

celest blaze
#

Still though... if you have 250 str, ish, 20 is 50 life, which is... 1.5 suffixes worth on two gear slots.

The "half fire res is cold and lighting" is easily worth more than that, itemization-wise.

celest blaze
honest grail
#

giant's blood

celest blaze
#

ah yeah.

The fire res node is sneaky-good, you're absolutely correct. Power in Poe2 comes from gear.

#

and that rees up a LOT of gearing.

honest grail
pliant solar
#

unless they make every unique insanely good that I want to run all of them
never felt very restricted by resistance problems anyway before

honest grail
#

but if you are str stacking it's even better

pliant solar
#

its so easy to cap them now

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

btw they fixed the gorilla roll

#

you can finally roll into it

celest blaze
celest blaze
pliant solar
#

the bug was that if you dodgeroll into gorilla you get rubberbanded back outside of its huge model

honest grail
pliant solar
#

now you can actually roll diagonally towards it

honest grail
#

you're refusing to think about what mods you could have on your gear instead of those resistance mods

pliant solar
honest grail
#

it's not a buzzword it's the accurate term for what you're ignoring

pliant solar
#

ok whatever

honest grail
#

PoE character building is all about opportunity cost

celest blaze
#

a case can be made both ways, but I do think that overall taking that 2 point node for all that resist for nearly free is worth it.

pliant solar
#

the case here is that its a VERY GOOD node early to midgame, but absolutely useless in the actual minmaxing endgame

hexed vessel
#

might mess about with cast on ailment with smith, dunno if it'll be worth or not

honest grail
#

almost all the good stuff is on suffixes, including abyss mods

celest blaze
#

especially with the 75% fire res from the single ascendancy point.

75% fire res / 37% fire / 37 % cold is a LOT of resist.

honest grail
#

it just gets better the better gear you have

pliant solar
#

sure

celest blaze
honest grail
#

mixmaxxed smith with the fire res node can have +skills everywhere they can plus chaos res mods, attack speed on gloves, any attributes needed for skills or for pushing more life

celest blaze
#

(and, again, rarirty)

honest grail
#

without it you lose several suffixes and a bunch of those things

celest blaze
#

if you're trying to jam rarity in (which is worth it, now, unfortunately) things get VERY tight. Particularly if you need +skills, which also everyone pretty much does.

honest grail
#

and chaos res

celest blaze
#

You don't have to be convinced, though, no skin off my back

honest grail
#

idk how non-smiths get enough chaos res to be happy lol

hexed vessel
celest blaze
#

just keep it in mind

pliant solar
#

rarity is a prefix, not a suffix

celest blaze
honest grail
pliant solar
#

it is on the rings

#

where you stack resists

#

more than anywhere else

hexed vessel
#

how about svalinn for cast on block as well for mapping

celest blaze
#

to some degree it matters, but in general it just comes down to "I need X, can I get it from my passive tree / asc, or do I need it on gear"

#

(or as much as possible on both)

honest grail
#

rings are even more precious for opportunity cost because there are a bunch of good unique ones and for a rare you generally want a mana leech one unless you're going blood magic

celest blaze
celest blaze
honest grail
#

also high tier flat life on kill is really underrated

#

remember that abyss suffixes also give hybrid ele+chaos res

#

so smith can make a giga ring with fire res, chaos res and fire+chaos res

#

or do the same for boots

celest blaze
#

flat mana on kill is soooo good for levelling also

honest grail
#

don't think so

#

I bypass those by oneshotting them

celest blaze
honest grail
#

excited to see what the new bullshit enemies in vaal temples are

celest blaze
#

it's usually fine just scary in abysses when headhunter keeps TPing me back on top of it

massive phys dots, DD oneshots, invuln effects

this is the poe 2 build planning channel

celest blaze

I realize that now haha

honest grail

I might just sell them and buy the abyss stuff I want with the earnings lol

celest blaze

Simul shards might though

honest grail

lol the 'limited to 1' change on all the really good socketables is a big nerf to DE belt

celest blaze

DE belt?

honest grail

darkness enthroned

#

afaik people generally put one kind of expensive socketable in it

now you can't lol

pliant solar

abyss without homo omens is really not the same

#

I will miss them

celest oxide
#

I will but at the same time

#

I loved the crafting last season but I don't mind it being a bit less of a crafting league I guess

pliant solar
#

ye I can get behind that

#

it was almost too good of crafting

celest oxide
#

As a bad crafter

#

I was missing out LOL

pliant solar
#

slam and pray

#

the fun way

celest blaze
# pliant solar Is there some cool tech for rage for ranged attacks?

Oh! The Death Articulated gloves + the 8 rage on flasking / chance to gain max rage passive might do it for ranged rage.

Throw in a movement skill like Leap Slam or Shield Charge with a Rage on Hit, and that might do it. Ghost Dance is also a "melee hit"

celest oxide
#

I personally don't mind the atlas as endgame and excited for this league mechanic

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

like really good

celest oxide

Plus I think having Abyss tablets and Abyss Atlas tree should be cool

pliant solar
#

too bad my gloves slot is already filled

celest oxide
#

How expensive is Hateforge or w.e it's called gonna be this season

pliant solar
#

with these

celest oxide
#

with the negative modifier removed

pliant solar

celest oxide
#

LOL

celest blaze
celest oxide

Bear or Wyvern better be good

#

or I'll be sad

pliant solar
#

ye molten blast isnt melee for some reason

celest oxide
#

Don't make me play bows/xbows again pls

celest blaze
honest grail
#

+2 charge hateforges were going for 1-2 divs at end of league, for downside mod removal you have to vaal first and then hit the downside mod, it will be expensive but not too expensive

celest blaze
#

I'm not sure it would be enough even if you took all of them though

honest grail
#

depends on supply vs demand more than anything

celest blaze
#

if the stupid blood mage auto-flask gave 8 rage 🙁

honest grail
#

they could make hateforge a rarer drop as well lol

celest blaze
celest oxide
pliant solar
#

I'm glad they're buffing uniques, but I'm scared they actually overbuffed some

celest blaze
#

which would ALSO proc those silly "if you've made a melee attack" nodes (which are generally not worth it separately)

celest blaze
#

if I'm not a Smith of Kitava, I'm gonna ve a Bear in a Bathrobe

celest blaze
hexed vessel
#

they're buffing this from 20% to 40%, if i use avatar of fire, will it change the chaos damage to fire as well? so it will be just a 40% damage increase?

pliant solar
#

I mean lightning coil too

pliant solar
#

100%

#

and ofc phys as ele chests

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

also new freeze gloves are insane

#

from -25% less damage on frozen

#

to 20% more damage

celest blaze
pliant solar
celest blaze
# pliant solar

crazy good yeah

I think the no rage degen gloves might be worth considering over it though. Particularly if you can squeeze in Berserk

pliant solar
#

for sure

sharp thorn
pliant solar
#

I like the trend of a lot uniques having all 3 defences

celest blaze
celest blaze
pliant solar
#

yep

#

this is also why rathpith gets nerfed for the 20th time in a row

#

because all life stacking items getting buffed

celest blaze
#

If it's worth more than, say, 25 divines it might as well not exist for me

pliant solar
#

who drops them

#

or is it a world drop

celest blaze
#

world

#

base doesn't drop so it's not even chanceable

BUT, the new Vaal corruption might be able to get it

sharp thorn
#

Not world

#

It is a unique from one of the three bosses in corrupted nexus

celest blaze
#

hrm? oops, I just looked it up, sorry.

#

I must've read something wrong

pliant solar
celest blaze
#

I don't even know what corrupted nexus IS lol

sharp thorn
pliant solar
sharp thorn
pliant solar
#

they were requirements for tier upgrades for doryani

sharp thorn
#

They still are. Just not as much as it used to be.

pliant solar
#

ye right

#

the ones that you always forget about after killing normal boss

#

and you need to return for them

#

because they take too much time to appear

sharp thorn
#

Yeah. I never managed to upgrade my atlas because I ran total of 5 nexus and I failed a couple of them (don't ask how, I don't remember).

pliant solar
#

this is exactly how

sharp thorn
#

No I mean, don't ask how did I failed them.

pliant solar
#

6 portal defence layer

sharp thorn
#

Not in this case, you only have 2 respawns since you need 4 mod waystone to run nexus

celest blaze
sharp thorn
#

Anyway, on a topic of rage, if you run flask node and don't mind to give up your flask, you can use unique rage flask. It has 5 (at least) seconds of effect and you have no rage loss while you are under effect of that flask.

celest blaze
sharp thorn
#

I was thinking about ranged rage myself, so this is pretty much all I found. Still better than nothing and thankfully flask node can be annointed if you cannot or don't want to path to it.

sharp thorn
#

It's 70 actually

pliant solar
#

ye thats what I meant

granite vapor
#

I'm thinking of doing blackflame covenant mana stacking lich. As far as I can tell, mana flare and elemental discharge SHOULD both do chaos damage, since they have the spell and fire tags. PoB disagrees. Does anyone know which is right?

pliant solar
#

also its "when hit by an enemy" cant even passively geenrate it

#

its a recoup flask more than rage

sharp thorn
# pliant solar ye thats what I meant

Of course not, but you combine with this and you're in business. The main idea for me is that you can use this flask for both "Effect is not removed when Unreserved Life is Filled" and "No Inherent loss of Rage during effect"

celest blaze
#

I'm not sure who my fellow ShieldBonker was, but I ran a heavily customized variation of this build in 0.3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5GKSzV6A5A
It uses Resonating Shield as a delivery method to proc Fortiying Cry repeatedly, then uses Nebuloch on Weapon Swap to deliver massive guaranteed Shield Wall crits against bosses.

Main difference that I made was that I was a Gemling Legionnaire for the auto-endurance charge of Thaumaturgic Dynamism to drop Perfect Strike. I also made a few changes to supports, crucially running Fortifying Cry supported by with https://poe2db.tw/us/Enraged_Warcry_I to avoid being tied to endurance charges.

update: tested with rakiata's, double mana flask with waistgate and ambrosia support, damage went from 6.5mil per wall to about 8.5mil. Not sure if really worth the 30-ish divs I spent for the new setup but hey, number go up.

I stream sometimes here: https://www.twitch.tv/jekojeko3

pliant solar
#

I get what you mean, but its a weird setup for a little bit of an upside at this point

celest blaze
#

ah, it was @pliant solar

#

(they are also removing Font of Rage in 0.4, which would otherwise help too)

pliant solar
#

I'm surprised they didn't nerf shield wall

#

I expected them to do so

#

but may be I'm missing some side nerf to it

#

that I'm not aware of

sharp thorn
pliant solar
#

the gloves seem good

#

they for sure will go down in price next league

#

because of all other uniques being buffed

sharp thorn
pliant solar
#

unless rage druid is so successful that they will suck the whole market of them

celest blaze
# pliant solar but may be I'm missing some side nerf to it

The main "nerf" here is that that the damage bonus of Ataluli's Bloodletting was cut in half, but that's toooootally fine. I wasn't even running it on shield wall in the end, put it on Fortifying Cry.

The 13 million damage in the build that I linkedd that he has there is a bit of a meme, the setup in his build to get that is a pretty awkward combo and I would tend to die

pliant solar
#

bloodletting nerf barely does anything to it honestly

#

its just so much damage

celest blaze
#

@pliant solar what build were you using for shield-i-ness?

sharp thorn
#

Druid has it's own means to solve rage I think.

celest blaze
#

I'll do up a full PoB / Moba link sometime soon

pliant solar
celest blaze
pliant solar

used the wall only on bosses

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

I league launched with it blind (they just added the skill into the game) so I winged it

no links

celest blaze

I use the Wall in clearing sometimes too, particularly for abysses or when I'm annoyed a rare isn't dead yet

I also used it when I needed to recover my stun bar

celest blaze

the blood mage version i homebrewed did NOT work well. Mainly because infinite life regen doesn't include infinite stun bar regen 🙁

Strong damage mitigation is super key, even though you're blocking 99% of the time

celest blaze

After talking to y'all I'm pretty sold on Shieldbonk Smith of Kitava 6 / 2 with strong investment in Armor as my league start

I'm hoping to be able to use a Talisman mainhand or some other new means to get the End charges I need for bossing wihtout Perfect Strike

#

I fucking refuse to use Perfect Strike for end charges

pliant solar
#

so you get at least 50k with buffs

pliant solar
#

I did it with magma barrier and stacking a few charge nodes on the tree

#

it was enough to spam the fort cry

#

warbringer is a big qol for it

#

you just run around shouting for free

woven depot
#

what was the tech warbringers were using to spam ancestral totems?

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

no you don't, you're right, but it makes the build much faster

#

and it makes you not pull your hair off on stealing charges mobs

celest blaze
#

makes bosskilling soooo much easier

pliant solar
#

it wont be enough to spam the fort cry

#

for bossing you dont care, but for clear you do need more

#

but then again, I did resonating shield for clear, not shield wall

#

its a bit different

celest blaze
# pliant solar it wont be enough to spam the fort cry

Right. That's why i powered it with Rage instead, which is flawless. I basically can shout whenever I want and am still at full rage pretty much all the time.

0.4 buffs it so that it Dynamism generates a charge every 5 seconds, AND if you have that End Charge Rune socket it works with that (thought hat may have been limited too idk)

pliant solar
#

shield wall was just for bosses and tougher mobs

#

I did rage tech too btw

#

its a no-brainer

#

nothing else honestly to abuse for it

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

switched a few times between warbringer and titan

#

warbringer is much better early

#

but when you get the things going you just abuse titan's direct tankiness and damage

also warbringer gives you +20 fps

for clearing corpses

#

not even memeing, actual boon

celest blaze

@unborn fable did you use Thirst of Kitava? The one that gives instant life leech or empowered attacks (all our important attacks are empowered)

EDIT: Sorry, random dude, bad auto-complete

# pliant solar switched a few times between warbringer and titan

the video I linked here has opinions on warbringer being an inferior choice, though he was open to Titan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5GKSzV6A5A

It comes down to the same "fire res being all res node is really strong" thing though so you're probably over it already haha

update: tested with rakiata's, double mana flask with waistgate and ambrosia support, damage went from 6.5mil per wall to about 8.5mil. Not sure if really worth the 30-ish divs I spent for the new setup but hey, number go up.

healthy discussion is good

And Titan is super good just generally so it' super good at this. It's obviously a great choice.

its a meme at this point titan being good for everything

ritualist isnt as popular

using a few slaps of Resonating Shield or Armor Breaker isn't bad. At the early part of the fight, the boss isn't super dangerous anyway yet

there are some goodd increased duration nodes for armor breakinga lso, you can get it up to around 16 seconds

@celest blaze I also tried fitting temporal chains blasphemy, cast while channeling and stuff
worked somewhat I guess, but wasn't impressive enough

yeah, it wasn't an option for me due to needing 100% strenth requirement. I often try to slot i blas Enfeeble when I can

celest blaze
pliant solar
#

well yeah life is important and its also a basis for stun threshold which is especially important for resonating shield builds

#

but if losing 350~ish life is critical on an insanely tanky build then there is something fundamentally wrong

quartz pewter
#

I mean 350 life is pretty big LUL

#

on any build

pliant solar
#

yes and no

#

you tank with your stun threshold

#

mobs basically never touch your life

#

unless you step into some chaos goo pool

quartz pewter
#

Most builds rely on at least two defensive mechanics

pliant solar
#

bigger hit is losing 350 life worth of stun threshold if anything

#

than actual life

pliant solar
#

which works with a raised shield

#

I tested it thoroughly

#

because nobody could answer me when I asked many people

quartz pewter
#

I mean yeah.. block more hits with stun threshold on a shield.. but you still want a good life pool

pliant solar
#

things that reduce stun gauge gain:
armour - yes
armour as ele - yes
global multipliers - yes
flat reductions (like astramentis) - no
resists - no

#

I have absolutely no idea why resists dont work on raised shield

quartz pewter
#

It's just 1 layer of defense

pliant solar
#

that 1 layer of defense as enough to tank arbiter aoe

quartz pewter
#

Maybe it's a thing I don't know... builds I seen that use shield don't run any threshold lol

pliant solar
#

well yes thats the whole point of the build

#

to stack A LOT of stun threshold

quartz pewter
#

or maybe some form but like sacing 350 life for it I don't see it

pliant solar
#

your stun bar is your life bar

#

which is honestly a problem by itself

#

because its grey on grey and you cant see shit

#

would love to have it on your hp bar in the middle

pastel swift

Duh, myba, thought it was amount over cap

sharp thorn
#

Ohhh, you're right, it's not the same. Though I dunno if that's enough to make it worth. Maybe on an amazon, since she has defense stats from body halved.

#

Increased es/ev/armour is a global modifier as far as I understand, so this is unaffected.

pastel swift
#

Correct, really the only question is if there are any other ways to get payoff from overcap

sharp thorn
#

Not that I know of. Body armour usually adds a lot more stats than +75% increased defenses.

#

And I don't remember anything else that affects stats on body.

cerulean kraken

Is there a good guide somewhere to how "Energy per Power of enemies [...] modified by 🤷 " works ?

sharp thorn
cerulean kraken
#

Gains 3 Energy per Power of enemies XXX, modified by the percentage of the enemy's Ailment Threshold the Hit will deal

  1. Is there a way of lowering it?
  • I guess Overwhelming Presence does not apply since it says "Elemental A.T."
  1. Where can I see example numbers?
Count Geonor has 318 Life at area level 15 - end of act 1 (https://poe2db.tw/us/Count_Geonor)
Even though I've killed him way too many times, I have no guess at what the ailment threshold is
A few places online say it's equal to life pool.
Assuming you want to get a guarenteed shock from a single hit - you need to do 400% the ailment threshold.
If using Arc, without any shock chance supports/nodes, you would need to do 1272 damage?
If using Lightning Bolt (200% more) [staff], with Shock support (100% more), you would need to do 1272/2/3 = 212 damage
Which is still 2/3 of his life pool... which seems wrong

  2. If you overkill (white mobs), does the overkill damage count towards the power generation threshold?

  • Assuming an ailment threshold of 50%
  • Say you whack a monster for 90% it's life -> This gives 1 * 3 * 100% = 3 power, or can the scaling factor go above 100%?
  • If you hit it a second time overkilling it by 80%, would you still hit the ailment threadhold or does it only count as doing "10%" damage.
  1. How is the energy rounded? I assume down to nearest integer

  2. Boses have 20 Power. So if you hit a boss you get 20 * 3 * something * increase energy multiplier = ???
Assuming this is a simple scaling factor from 0 to 100%
If you hit which takes off 50% of a boss's life, you get 30 energy. There are quite a few sources of scaling energy gain, so double or triple it.
But that is still only ~200 energy per boss fight.

#

I have no idea how you are supposed to format bullet points within numeric lists on Discord.
If you do it without a space it converts them to numbers, if you put the spaces it looks shit - as above

pallid knoll
#

Anyone tempted to build around whirling assault? And how would you go about it?

sharp thorn
# cerulean kraken > Gains 3 Energy per Power of enemies XXX, modified by the percentage of the ene...

Ok, so:

  1. Yes. I guess it's an error in description because "ailments threshold" can only mean elemental ailments threshold. Overwhelming presence works.
  2. You can't know for sure exact numbers. Generally use Overwhelming presence and do more damage, this will help you to get more energy.
  3. I don't know but my guess is that they do.
  4. Same as 2. You don't need this much details.
  5. Assuming elemental ailments work the same as on players, if you hit at 50% of life you actually supposed to get 20*3*100% of energy, so it's 60. Which is not true because they have way less than that. I have no info how much tho. Do note that the info on this website can be erroneous.

# pliant solar I have absolutely no idea why resists dont work on raised shield

Sorry, got pulled into a meeting.

Hrm, from my perspective, having higher than max resists absolutely makes a difference, and my stun bar absolutely shoots up much faster in maps that have -X% max res, so I'm not sure where you're getting this from?

But yes, mitigating the highest percentage possible of incoming damage is far more important than boosting the stun threshold directly. My Bloodmage loved to flop on the floor any time 3 powerful abyss mobs looked at him. Even though he had a good amount of ES, and "stun threshhold percentage of ES"
