Deadeye will likely face some changes too, tailwind specifically, and lightning arrow will probably have its attack damage slightly lowered as a front to deter its meta
Cuz if they nerf lightning rods more I don't think it could remain viable, but some attention could be given to the max rod limit to avoid oneshot potential
@west wharf looking at it, Seismic Cry with Aftershocks hitting walls could create a very high hitcount for stun buildup alongside a daze and some daze magnitude setup, im pretty sure you could heavy stun a pinnacle boss in a single use.
My goal is to dig into the more damage with mace against stunned, lucky, and the extra physical damage against stunned and armor broken, to then use something like earth shatter or perfect strike with aftershocks to apply multiple poisons quickly.
The issue that I see arising is that by that point investing into hit damage will just greatly outscale the poison damage potential.
Cuz ailments in PoE2 can rarely ever exceed 50% of the total dps, vs the hits that apply them.
I wonder if Garukhans resolve would work with guaranteed crit abilities

No, it defeats or bypasses the reason for Giantsblood
Ill naturally POB both, to see just for certainty, but I suspect that Nebuloch justifies the dualwield damage penalty in all the opportunity of crit that I instead direct toward stun, and that its base crit damage modifier will outscale the damage penalty of dualwielding in the aspects that it lacks over a normal 1h mace.
The rare mace in main hand would essentially be:
Highest phys dmg base,
IPD
Flat phys
Extra phys
To crit damage
Attack/melee levels
Stun buildup
Probably preferring attack levels so that it scales HoB too

whats the point of toxic growth and vine arrow being "barragable" when the amount of pustules/plants is maxd at a single volley? There's no damage associated with the shot, so replacing the pustules/plant in barrage succession doesn't do anything...?
I imagine that you could place a gas/poison cloud that has high enough damage to instantly burst the pustules, and that you could barrage them into it? - spitballing.
It more likely has something to do with ignite and triggering the explosions rapidly but it doesn't quite make sense to me either
barrage doesn't do shit for toxic growth, but if you have increased limit on vine arrow barrage can create two vines instead of one then

I did end up testing a few things back and forth and feel pretty solid with this
Purely a test POB,
Config for the guaranteed crit on consuming an endurance charge, assuming that the boss was successfully heavy stunned by earth shatter spikes with seismic cry, and not accounting for the Sunder being empowered, but accounting for the aftershock allowing it to hit twice and because of Sunder's behavior with aftershock, apply 4 poisons in one cast.
The max limit of poisons on the build exceeds 4, so it will safely apply 4 poisons with the single cast, which should according to damage numbers and the few select items with their modifiers on, be sufficient damage output.

I just need to find defensive layers now, and I am probably going to just dive into evasion with a full EV body armor, and grab spectral ward, as well as a full ES head with subterfuge mask, and very likely grab Enhanced reflexes for the attribute assist alongside the ev increase, and ill be doing that either through a strugglescream, and or megalomaniac, apart from the actual pathing for some of it.
in the setup I am also assuming that Garukhan's Resolve does bifurcate the sunder crit from Nebuloc, which I have to test ingame to confirm >.< certainly adds a lot of damage if it does.
Weapon set 1 for earth shatter and seismic cry, using the ironwood great hammer with max stun buildup - this is probably overkill as fuck I dont think that I will need this much stun buildup to heavy stun a boss with 6 spikes and seismic cry, but, its in there just in case. Can always trim it later.

Right now using HoP adds a significant amount of increased damage alongside HoB,
but HoP has a significantly larger area than PF, depending on the level of the spirit gem it goes up to 2+m vs the 1.5m base of PF
The mapping isnt daunting me that much right now, at all, I will be able to make mapping with this work one way or another.
I was primarily concerned with the fact that maces dont have much sympathy for ailments in their lack of synergy, but I seem to have found a few points to milk
So being able to reach a high damage potential for like, bossing, was definitely the goal.
From here it could be as simple as trampletoe or armor explosion or bleed/poison spread setups on the heralds or maybe even just Plague Bearer lol, but mapping has options

Dazing cry was removed, but, I also need the hits to apply the daze, so that the earth shatter explosions daze and stun. If they cry dazes it will hit the boss after ther spikes' explosion and the spikes wont benefit from the daze debuff being applied

Oh Icefang was a cheap ring to simulate some base modifiers early on with value testing and the ingenuity is just what I had in mind for it, the gear definitely aint it lol, was just testing the DR on magnitude

it will somewhat depend on how much value the ryslathas adds compared to flat phys and increased chaos damage rings with res and rarity to compare vs ingenuity

I feel like I got very lucky on multiple of its crafting steps, ended up costing me less than 2 div from base to end product.
and I found in POB that putting the Nebuloc in mainhand and the rare mace in offhand has better damage, despite the weapon in the offhand having way higher dps contribution, how does the calc work to estimate offhand hitting harder than mainhand?
Just socketting the extra chaos damage gain too for another 5.8% effective dps gain,
the gear is looking pretty interesting so far.

afaik offhand vs mainhand should have no difference
but sometimes tooltip has incorrectly displayed differences
i.e. in the case of trail of caltrops, the flat phys from levels in trail of caltrops was only adding onto my mainhand weapon in tooltip
but in testing, it was actually adding to the offhand weapon as well and just not showing on tooltip

if necessary you can always test ingame
i usually use the wolvenhold interlude boss for testing since he's easy to find
you could drop all your supports from sunder so it does low dmg
then go check your avg dmg per sunder vs the boss with nebuloch in mainhand vs offhand

in its calculations, the 0.7x dmg multiplier from dw is being applied twice to the mainhand weapon and not to the offhand weapon at all
rather than simply applying to the avg of the 2
if you check the avg hit dmg of "x" weapon on main hand vs the avg dmg of "x" weapon on off hand
off hand is always 1.96x higher
that corresponds to 1/.51 = 1.96
.51 coming from 1-(.7*.7)

none of the base values are changing
it's still 250% inc, -15% more, and identical base hit damage values for each weapon
but the MH avg hit and OH avg hit are changing regardless
if you calculate the ratios, it lines up perfectly with POB applying the dw dmg penalty to your mh weapon twice
and to the offhand 0 times

Catalysis ranger side, 5% to phys, at res cap its a 3.5% damage reduction
And theres Tempered Defences for 15% of armour applies to elemental damage - which is also available on boots and gloves as a suffix for bloodmages.
But in short no... Not having elemental resistance fucks you.

I've been looking on PoB and it says that some cast speed nodes on my tree boosts its damage, but nothing changes in-game except the initial cast, which is kinda useless since I'll hold, and not spam incinerate

so, im completely new to path of exile build creation, usually i just go like a straight and narrow boring path that perfectly fits the description of the class, however, id like to stray away and make a more "unique" and creative build
however it seems that there is a lot that goes into that. im making a huntress right now and i plan on going ritualist, i intend on making some type of hybrid build? i want to use magic along with being a ritualist and wonder how i would go about choosing what skill gems to use?
and also im seeing a lot of int based magic huntress ritualist builds and im wondering what are the benefits of going a mage type of build as a ritualist?
it seems like people constnatly stray away from the weapon that their class uses
at least for huntress
that overall is really common in this game. i made a spear infernalist that used plague bearer as primary damage source this league as just one example (well kinda 2 in 1 haha)
some class mechanics mesh well with ideas that dont follow what the class is "supposed to do". the most common hinderance i see to doing that is just where you start from the tree (kinda hard to go crit warrior or spellcaster mercenary)

Haha I don’t plan I just play until I find something that I think seems cool and go from there. I’d say making a “proper build” is more mechanic understanding and tree building
i usually think of it like
whats a cool skill I want to use
how and why do i want to use it
and how do i make it poison
there’s no way this isn’t rage bait, the only skill that doesn’t bore you is one where you literally don’t press any buttons and just walk around 💀
make sure you consider things holistically instead of just focusing on making a single specific interaction work, unless you're okay with it being a cool but janky build
cus even if you make an underplayed skill work with a lot of investment and setup, the build still won't end up feeling good if you haven't balanced it out with good defenses, mobility, etc
it also helps a lot to get familiar with searching things up on poe2db, to see if there's synergistic items, gems, etc that you aren't aware of
and to make friends with some knowledgeable players that you can bounce ideas off of
there's so many items, interactions, and whatnot that it's hard to catch everything on your own

first of all, it's not all people, but most people who make their own builds - firstly tried to play tons of builds, figure out mechanics and etc.
then you should understand what stats combine with different stats properly - there was a youtube channel... something like PoE Academy, but,. I'm not sure, can't find it - you can invest alot in searching youtube for guides, checking PoB's
start by playing the game and figuring out builds/gems/mechanics you like

just learn the basic mechanics and go from there (how to damage, how to survive, etc lots of resources on yt and whatnot) then pick a skill or item or interaction etc you think is cool and go from there
most building is knowing the mechanics well and game knowledge really. learn to search for tags in the support gem menu, things like that

But also sounds like your character is struggling quite a bit if you’re having trouble in t2s and a 2h might not fix that

if you increase the effect of explicit modifiers on the waystones, does that, for example, if a map has enemies have 20% extra cold damage, and you have asy 30% more explicit effect

fwiw compressed duration shouldnt do anything really for your hotg, and your brutality supports makes it so your added fire damage gets deleted

depends a bit, bleed isnt too popular ig
but warcries, armour break and maybe some fire damage is usually a common denominator between warrior builds
so phys+crit?
crit is rough, you get some but maces have low base crit and theres not much crit rating near your starting zone
titans generally dont love travelling too much since hulking form is obscenely strong, you want to utilise it by placing as many points as possible into small nodes
how about giant's blood
its good, helps with scaling hit damage a ton
but puts a strain on you for strength stacking and this leagues nerf with how it reduces the ffectiveness of added strengths hp increases has resulted in it not being nearly as popular as in the passt
id argue the meta warrior build rn is just earthshatter builds, but thats a boring route to go imo
you can definetly make a bleed titan work
but aftershocks are lowkey antisynergistic with it, bleed wants 1 big boy hit
aftershocks is investing in many hits
i remember EQ bleed being popular in poe1
damaging ailments are quite different in poe 1 and poe 2

in poe 1 you scale them with modifiers like "damage over time" and in poe 2 the main way to increased ailment dps is by increasing the hit inflicting it

Learn what modifiers affect what, get a good sense of additive and multiplicable damage scalers. I usually start with a concept, finding a main ability that fits the idea and go from there
do i generally only want to use one skill for mobbing and one for bossing?
like monk uses flicker or the thunderwave skill but bossing uses something like the giant bell

Either or! But maybe start with a dedicated ‘clear’ skill and another dedicated ‘boss’ skill, this could also be a good practice in weapon sets for the different skills
Not entirely sure what you mean, but in poe 2 % increases to phys damage will only apply to the non-converted part of the damage, this is different from how it works in poe 1 where you could convert phys to cold and scale that total damage by both phys increases and cold increases. In poe 2 you only scale the element you convert to
you just want good AOE and good single target damage, whether it's different skills or just the same skill doesn't matter much
my first tip is to not see classes as builds lol

and in a flicker build you absolutely kill the boss with flicker

blackflame keystone converts fire damage to chaos, you collect increased chaos damage passives
blackflame ring makes enemies take chaos damage instead of fire damage, you collect increased fire damage passives
which means the conversion happens before your damage calculation

Gear is still really meh, so survivability is almost nonexistent.
Using Earth Shatter, Seizmic cry and reaver minion in set 1
then Stampede, Sunder and Berserk in weapon set 2
Mapping with Stampede, its always breaking armor and always has endurance charges, so it always crits too, kinda insane how this is coming together. Found a LOT of small adjustment in the tree to optimize output.
Bosses is just spikes setup + cry + command -> Sunder
The damage is utterly deranged.

It do be looking a little funny, though how accurate POB's poison calcs are right now is definitely questionable.
I'm accounting for the poison application from the aftershock off the empowered attack from Seizmic cry currently, but not for the additional physical hit of the aftershock, which technically should be higher than the first by a fair margin, though the poison wont be due to Low Tolerance.
But the throughput is, very amusing. Super satisfying animations and pops.

Ignite, unless you’re using the keystone, always deal fire damage
Unravelling just makes it so that chaos damage will contribute the magnitude

Yes, you still need to do fire damage (or chaos with acolyte and unraveling) to ignite with black flame ring, it just makes that ignite do chaos instead
However notably neither black flames give that ignite the chaos DoT tag, something to keep in mind

Yeah but that means you can’t apply ele ailments by default
With unraveling and the lineage gems you can but not by default

Anyone use Balormage HROC? I’m trying to spec into it moving up from the early maps POB. I have a question about Dialla’s mallefacation. What socket colours should I be using? I know you can put any jam in any socket but different colour sockets give different bonuses and it’s unclear to me which gems I would ideally be putting into specific colours.

it's fine but you can't really efficiently craft gloves like that
so there's not many
rarity has no tag so it's not targetable with the usual crafting method for LA gloves
AS you can craft first via homo ex from a desecrated speed tag, socket gets essenced on, crit dmg gets essenced on, flat dmg pre's get homo ex'd on from the crit dmg's damage tag after blocking acc
and 3rd flat pre is omen of light rerolled
if u rly want i guess you could do like...
exceptional base start w/ crit dmg and horror essence, unrevealed suffix desecrate
homo ex all 3 prefixes and pray to god you don't hit accuracy
then omen of light for rarity suff if you managed to hit 3x flat pre's

Normally you cannot socket Loyalty into a companion after brutus' brain is socketted,
When you socket Loyalty first you are allowed to socket the brain though, this created a controversial belief that they work together.
However, Loyalty doesnt transfer any damage when the companion cant take any damage.
Just like Minion Pact doesnt grant more damage if Living Lightning doesnt have enough HP to absorb the total amount of damage it would deal to them, POB shows the dps increase, but doesnt check the condition.
Unless a minion fully absorbs the damage cost of minion pact, the damage bonus is NOT granted.
Along with that, Ambush on herald of thunder is never in effect because the hit that triggers herald of thunder takes the target below max life, and herald needs to be triggered. The AoE of herald of thunder is also too small to justify the area of effect of herald of thunder benefitting from Ambush because most attacks that trigger herald of thunder efficiently are AoE filler / clearing attacks that typically hit before the herald in AoE as well.

that’s not really how poe functions, but monk is generally seen as a dex/int hybrid, same with Shadow
doesn’t mean you can’t go full dex, full int, full strength or any combination of the three
There is however a connection between attributes and other modifiers like defensive layers and damage types. And the passive nodes around the monk starting area reflect this since they’re defensively a combination of evasion (dexterity) and energy shield (intelligence), this is also seen in the damage nodes, there’s very little fire damage nodes (strength related) but quite a bit of lightning (intelligence) and cold (dexterity)
is shadow gonna have an ascendency that revolves around dagger skills that slash and stuff? Like no traps? Pure assassin style

Well, no, since no ascendancy is specific to any weapon type. However, it will almost certainly have at least one ascendancy that is synergistic with Dagger-based builds in one way or another.

Yeah, while they may have synergies between the two weapon types, to encourage them to be used together, it's 100% going to be possible to just ignore one and focus on the other.

Yeah from my experience with ED/Contagion, Essence Drain is your big damage over time mechanic, and contagion does a lot less damage, but spreads to other targets once an enemy with DoT’s and contagion dies.

converts to 75%, then it gets multiplied by all the more multis I have to fire so it does significantly more.

Righteous fire or rf is a ring of fire around player that damages enemies , pcob poisonous concoction of bouncing is a skill that throws exploding vials at enemies and doesn’t use a weapon in the build
i dont think flame wall is the skill you want but flame wall exists and you can kinda make it a ring around you, but again i dont think thats the thing haha
pathfinder has a bunch of different concoctions, none of which bounce tho
(they're kinda ass tho rn)

I am playing arc, and using Path of Building and watnted to look at some alternate route for my skill tree. Does anyone know why this shows no dps increase?
Depending on your configuration, existing build, skill gems and the abilities you are using, its possible that lightning pen doesnt increase dps.
Check:
Pen cap, natural pen cap is 50% - pinnacle bosses only have 50% resistance to begin with, pen cannot go below 0.
Exposure,
Are you applying exposure in addition to having pen? Exposure counts as res reduction, and can go below 0, but pen will only have value for existing resist above 0% after exposure and reductions.
Configuration, are you configured to be measuring dps against a pinnacle boss at T1-3? The default config is vs pinnacle boss T1, most people don't change this and this can have impact on accuracy and evasion mostly but could also affect other aspects.
You would need to share your POB and hope that someone is willing to analyze it for you and point out where your build has redundancies.
Flame wall with the Fortress support is the ring of fire you're looking for, scaling with spell damage.
Poisonous Concoctions are from the Pathfinder ascendency and scale as attacks, but do not use weapon stats.
Bow has poison abilities like poisonous arrow, Gas arrow, Vine Arrow and more, to capitalize off poisons.
Crossbows also have gas grenades that function similarly
Igniting a gas cloud causes it to explode for an attack damage modifier, doing fire damage, which is unrelated to the gas cloud's poison damage or scaling. The explosion itself is a form of attack on its own.
I'd recommend checking out decompose or poison arrow pathfinder builds on youtube, as well as gas grenade oil grenade mortar crossbow builds.
Alternatively if you're all in for the ring of fire tech, check out flame wall spark builds that infuse lightning projectile spells with fire damage, as well as minion builds like skeleton sniper or storm mage minion builds that bolster the minions with flame wall. Lastly there is blackflame covenant that converts all your fire damage to chaos damage. Bunch of cool interactions there.
Honestly, I would love to figure it out but I just went ahead and socketed the item that inverts res and dropped any exposure/pen.

If you have Rakiata's flow, use it. Its very very strong.
Not only does it outperform most dps gaining supports, but it also saves opportunity cost on bypassing enemy resistances.
Avoid and ignore all pen and exposure Except: adding pen supports on abilities not supported by Rakiata's flow.
In planning for 040, the Lich's Eldritch Empowerment. I know the Empowerment affects the initial damage and costs the 5% ES of ED/Cont. But does the empowerment affect the DoT's?
I did some testing back in 020 that seemed to show that +lvl affected the DoT, but that gear +Chaos/Spell Dmg, did NOT affect the DoT. Going by displayed numbers. I didn't play ED in 030 as more than a low level starter, but might have to start one.

You can get even more levels than that on a Rare Wand, up to +5 to a specific element or +4 to all Spells.
And then you can add on Damage as Extra if your damage comes from Hits, though you can throw on a rune onto the Lifesprig to get some until then.

I was just surprised because I thought that Druids ascension would determine its ability to shapeshift, not so much the weapon. But that definitely creates an opening for more creative builds around shapeshifting
They usually try to make classes wider than that. For example deadeye is limited to projectiles but projectiles can be created by bows, xbows, spells and even maces.

They don't. You need to open artifact chests (marked with the Expedition icon)
And no, runic splinters are not artifacts so "increased quantity of artifacts" also doesn't affect them.

It's probably fine... leveling usually involves more than 1 skill use anyways to get that damage up
if i have a chaos and a minion weapon set, and i cast Essence drain and swap to the minion set before the projectile hits the boss, the chaos damage tree is still snapshotted on the projectile right?
because that tree was active the moment the proj was created

yep its pretty good because it sort of double dips in the sense that it directly reduces the damage taken, but also makes armour stronger
Yep, then I'd want to stack armor to at least 40k so I can get max benefit from Refraction III on a banner. If I go tactician for synergy with banners and the reduced spirit costs, I can maybe use the doedre ring and have 2 blasphemy auras so I can throw in ele weakness for two sources of dropping enemy res. Would obviously use some elemental skill or skill combo which I haven't decided on yet. Getting to the armor req and managing the attributes might be tricky on Tactician as opposed to Titan though, but I'll wait for 0.4 patch notes before I go too deep in this rabbit hole.

it's the most useless passives on the tree. there are no comparison about how useless they are for Thorns build. +0% of anything

nope. There is NO WORLD where this is useful in ANY way. it's Armour, so... only affects phys thorns(and fire, if you have passive for that), and most of the time you are eighter Warbringer, or you are using Any mark skill to break armour with the exception of Fire Avatar-Non warbringer build, that need's to use Resonating shield to do that. and if you are not Breaking armour, you don't use scavenged plating so you don't really have dmg...

you know that you are comparing the Chance for Deflect/evasion and Damage taken from hits???

One affects the chance to Evade and Deflect, the other affects the damage you take. They affect different stats, and therefore Evasion remains Unlucky, Deflect remains Lucky, and damage from hits is Unlucky.

Does anyone know, if a sceptor has a "all allies gain x% damage", is that affected by use of the Lone Warrior passive node (allies do not gain your aura buffs)?
Modifiers from a scepter is different from aura buffs. Cause aura buffs refers to skills that are aura and buff.
For now these skills are spirit skills with banners or auras from scepter like purity of ice and such.
so if I had lone warrior allocated, I should still be able to give my party the "allies deal 100% extra damage in your prescence"

and then everything flows from that and your overall understanding of the game's mechanics, itemization, content, etc.
if you're not particularly knowledgable and/or you're not interested in failing to some degree (as everyone does when they try to make their own builds), i wouldnt recommend it

the hit is to calculate base poison damage, that damage can only be scaled by magnitude
if you do chaos damage then sure it will contribute to base, increased chaos doesn't scale it further
that means if you do full phys, increased chaos does nothing

your build doesn't apply poison very well, so it has little synergy with pathfinder, you waste a lot of skill points and this is a glass cannon

Infernalist is plenty strong as an ascendancy and the endgame isn’t tuned remotely harsh enough to make any ascendancy unplayable

We don't know. However, leagues typically come with major balance changes, sometimes outright breaking existing builds, buffing them, or creating new ones through new mechanics, skills, the league and so on.

Are there builds like HOT autobomber available in POE2? I have only played infernalist minions, LS-zon, and the RF-RHOA mount builds. I tried to look it up but so far have fallen on most builds requiring temporalis and … I’m not that hardcore of a player for POE2 - Also I tend to play on steamdeck

unless I'm wrong, you would just never use culmination support now because combo finisher does the same bonus while only needing 5 combo, and you can't use both together (the game doesn't let you equip if you're already using one)
I guess with culmination you aren't locked out of using the skill entirely without having combo points

I have this idea for a mace/shield build using retaliate and direstrike, but it's proving to be pretty unreliable to use effectively. It works pretty well in mass mob situations, but in lower population or against bosses it's painfully slow to build up the meter even if you play optimally. Has anyone tried setting up something using these supports? What persistent skills would work best, attack skills etc.?

global defenses on attribute means you can scale evasion+es very well, and you can get sorc stuff. Since spear is 1 handed, you can have a focus on off hand so you don't really lose anything
And since you are stacking evasion+es, you also get pretty good elemental damage reduction
