Temper Weapon doesn't work the way I thought it did. Is it supposed to combust multiple times for skills that hit multiple times? Like flicker strike, whirling assault, or rapid assault?

Anyone have any idea why when I try to set storm mages to weapon set 2 with no spirit spent yet it says I don't have enough spirit?
Figured it out, for some reason if you have a dueling wand in weapon set 2 it makes you unable to allocate spirit until you put a spell in your spellslinger.
Is it possible to make up the the res caps with a ring -1 pref +1 suf? Or any other ring?

Trying to concoct my first off-meta build. What's the best way to consume power charges with a ranged build? I've seen like... use quarterstaff moves, and whatever that spirit gem passive is that uses one every 10 seconds. Are there better options?
Ruby ring with all res, fire res, light and chaos might do it. With catalysts of course. But you’d need like all t1 rolls.

You’re talking about Smith of Kitava right? Temper Weapon empowers your weapon up to 12 stacks. That means that for 12 hits, each hit will do fire damage and “combust” an enemy. Which looks like the effect causes 100% phys to fire in a 2.5 radius explosion. Are you using this on a quarter staff build? If so then I’ve not tried that before. But if something is messing up in the phys to fire conversion it could be that.
Mantra is the same, it Empowers 1 attack. You activate mantra and you basically have a timer of 8 seconds to use another attack that it will empower, which then gives you purple flames of Chayula for each kill with that attack. So it’s like beneficial for attacks like Falling Thunder. I believe it also benefits Flicker Strike too, but don’t quote me on that.

I'll read through this, but the tl;dr is that you can't allocate any spirit at all if you have an empty dueling wand in your second weapon set and you're trying to allocate spirit in your first weapon set?

does cast speed modifiers affect maximum energy of "Cast on x"? It says it's based on the "base cast speed" and putting considered casting (-15% cast speed) doesnt seem to change the maximum energy, but if that is the case, why doesn't everyone use that for damage and no downside?

Unfortunately rare amulets can get +3 to spell levels, which by default makes them better than just about any unique amulet.

If you're scaling lightning it COULD be better. Bc it's 19 levels of a lightning bolt, but the max triggers per second is 2. So it's probably eh.

i already have rakiata on lightening arrow, i was thinking maybe get elemental invocation with elemental weakness on it, is there a max for negative elemental resistance? or maybe Rakiata is more than enough?
it treats the resistance as reversed, you would actually significantly hurt your damage with ele weakness

i was thinking about tame beast? maybe get minion boost my movement speed?
I dont think there is much point in cast on whatever, spells would deal no damage and you dont really need any expousure/curse

for tame beast youd need the keystone that allows two companions, and it would cost you a lot of defenses

I dont see why youd need to give up amulet? but yeah, its not much generation, witch charge profusion supports you get more charges, but its still not amazing... for mapping you can use the spear kill thingy, but that doesnt help with bosses, and of course you can parry and the jump aways thingy, but thats just super clunky (sorry dont rmember the skill names :D)

In terms of? It "mitigates" it by converting to another type, which then is probably reduced by resistance
im just wondering if "made to last" notable will work in this case. I take phys hit, convert it to lightning with lightning coil, and my res reduces it. is that preventing physical damage

I saw a video on YouTube where i guy ran a build like this, and he used turtle charm, and in that case he did receive a ton more recoup from taking those hits but reducing them by 80%

you cast a spell with lifetap that lowers your life while you have no ES, so you use that helmet that gives you eldritch battery to get rid of ES
once your life is low you take off the helmet and the ES comes back
flammability magnitude increases the chance to ignite, incinerate always ignites, you need ignite magnitude, not flammability magnitude

what makes blood mage so good for spark? is it all that bonus crit dmg scaling from life?
you double the life cost of your spells
that's double the damage and double the life and/or ES regeneration
on top of over 100% increased crit damage, spell base crit chance is 15%, part of the damage to you becomes damage over time and you have 1k life more if your chest has 1k ES
that enables rathpit on top of all of that which is a huge damage buff
so we have an ascendancy in the game that currently triples your damage and makes you immortal, sounds balanced xD
*until you hit less life recovery on maps

Its fine but iirc there's a combined 50% to aggravate bleed on crit on the skill tree

Aggravate is literally 100% More damage, you basically need to get it somewhere
If youve determined this is your best option for the moment go for it

I've been running a contagion+ED for rly smooth pack clear
with either companion nodes or chaos damage nodes
it can be a DoT chaos skill, poison or anything from anyone and any weapon/spell class
since companion nodes are generic
and monk has access to other stuff if he wants instead
just need some good single target skill/spell suggestions I haven't tried just yet

Well you can continue to use Ed/contagion for clear that will get you quite far. If you’re sticking with that for bossing then Dark Effigy with over abundance does help a lot. Or perhaps weapon swapping to some lightning bow tech

Melee is rough for abyss bc of the ground splat chaos damage puddles. You're probably going to do better with a caster.
I personally leveled (in sc) as witch with bone cage and just kinda walked through the campaign. It has really good base damage, immobilizes enemies as they rush at you, and later you can get astral projection to cast it anywhere not just at your character.
You can pick up defensive nodes on the tree without feeling gimped early with the base damage of bone cage.

Guys does 'Inhibitor support' give you 4% more damage PER infusion or only PER TYPE? if i have 5/5/5 fire cold light do i get 60% more damage or only 12%?

and get tons of regen with said sacrifice of blood and some(a lot of) life regeneration rate and zealot's oath(so it regained ES too)
you spend 3k, regen 9k from that and so it goes
if you spend like 9k per second you will stack to 27k life regen that overflow into ES regen
is there any passives you can get that helps defend against damage over time? i am practically immortal against anything other than damage over time so it would be great if i could increase my defenses against that as well

and having rainbow invert = don't need to care abt dmg typing can just go triple flat rings/gloves etc
palm of dreamer is pretty much solely for clearing
outside of the booms, stuff like sacred flame does the same thing as palm of dreamer but gives higher gain as dmg% values

yes u calculate the "flat" of ur weapon from the actual damage lines at the top rather than from the affixes

Can stacking damage work from just nodes on the tree itself?
For example the Pure Chaos node gives 11% EXTRA chaos damage, whilst the small passives leading up to it give a total of 44% INCREASED chaos damage.
So does that mean that attacks that I then do, deal 11% extra chaos + 44% of that 11% extra chaos?

im not using flurry im using storm wave. i have max skill level storm wave. but my attack speed is lower tham flurry users so mana isnt as much of an issue
i just use flurry for 4 hits to activate the bell

Yeah same, but you can get to or close to 29 skill rank, eats a lot of mana. I used it for a while, but then moved away from it again

option 1. 75% chance to evade with 75% deflection and 3800 es
option 2. 67% chance to evade with 40% deflection and 6000 es

It’s based on your weapon damage, mainly. You can scale whatever skill uses it, like you would any other damage skill, but outside of equipping a weapon with higher damage, you can’t increase it via supports or the like.
don't pay attention to ehp on poe2ninja or pob, its missleading
I think 6k ES is better, if your ES recharge and faster start of recharge are good
without those 6k ES won't be nearly as good, so then just take 3800 ES and ghost dance
i got alot of deflection / damage on other slots my chest is the only slot thats 100% res suffixes so es recharge isnt an option
im hollow palm amazon but decided to do evasion helm + body instead of ev helm

then evasion helmet, gloves and boots
ES only on the chest
its a broken setup
why is the decision different tho. i checked my dps and my dps is better with es helmet i reach 100% crit. im not doing tempest flurry for movement

Hey guys, I was wondering if it's possible to make a melee poison/plague themed build? I like the green poison effects but I prefer melee as a playstyle, and just generally am not a big fan of bows. I don't expect the build to be meta or anything but just something that's usable and fun

Just a poison in general or do you have a poison skill in mind?
At the very least you can do poisonburst arrow, gas arrow or gas grenade.
You can't do much in campaign, but there are a lot of options once you are in the endgame.

I played this build for a while. It is crossbow gas grenade build with good defenses.
It uses plaguefingers to utilise elemental crossbows (like lightning can shock and fire is overall a lot of damage).
You can run simulacrum easily.

And do remember that build guides are limited to what people think is the best. There are a bunch of suboptimal builds.

that has a 5 less enemies to be surrounded
meaning im always surrounded
defy 2 reads that while im surrounded i can cast even with insufficient mana
meaning it essentialy costs 0 mana

remember that conversion is a specific mechanic
so blackflame doesnt convert the dot at all

Hey guys, I'm having doubts my Cast on Critical is working correctly. I have it socketed with Arc and then 2 support gems to build energy faster, and retain energy after use. I have it activated and am running about watching the % build up in the top left. It hits 100% and ticks over to 0%... but no Arc. I have full mana when this happens, what is going on? Any ideas?

Lich is mostly played with contagion essence drain.
Living Lightning is interesting in that it's not fantastic. I haven't reached end game with it yet, so hard to tell if it's any good. It's been a little rough in the campaign bc the minions spawned aren't targetable by enemies, so they rush you.
I've also seen someone use unearth on Lich that's running contagion / essence drain, but put Brutus Brain on the unearth minions. Means they can't deal damage, but they can't take damage. They can still apply your contagion though, so they're useful for not having to press that a lot.
unholy might's downside of mana cost makes it almost only usable for minion builds
you can definitely play an elemental build on lich though
tbh lich's elemental build might just be better than stormweaver's equivalent

Yeah, that's how that works. They can deal damage if you build into minion damage, but their damage isn't great even scaled. They're kind of just meat shield for other minions
They can be sac'd for more damage on essence drain and contagion, etc

it depends. if you want to hit a group of monsters you tap incinerate once and run forward, so cast speed doesn't help

the main thing to know is that you need to scale ignite magnitude ,not flammability magnitude

So with Blackflame Ring you deal chaos damage from the ignite damage but there’s no way to scale that unless you debuff enemies with the likes of curses or Withered?
I did some testing this morning with the Blackflame Ring. Not sure how I feel about it to be honest. With my build I’m scaling fire damage anyways and it’s reducing my ignite duration by 50% to deal chaos damage, I just don’t see the difference, especially when I damage tested it.

wither and despair help, the scaling comes from spell damage, skill levels, fire damage, ignitevand ailment magnitude, burnimg damage, some area of effect and some cast speed
like I said, increased chaos damage doesnt help you, only increased fire damage does
the difference is enormous, feel free to wear 2 blackflame rings if you want, but one is enough, it gives you much more damage than any other ring would because ignite magnitude, duration is not that important, you want to kill them in one second obviously and then conversion to chaos damage lets you ignore elemental resistances

I wanted to see if Blackflame Covenant Keystone would work with Fire Spell on Hit. It does, so I wondered if it would be better to scale that with more fire nodes on the tree or with chaos nodes. For Incinerate I just wanted to see how it would fit in with the build. I like it, but if I can’t scale the damage further with what I have now I probably should drop it.
As for Blackflame Ring, I wanted to use it too since I’m igniting a lot. However, I did some damage testing using it against Beira with a level 4 flame wall, and the damage with and without Blackflame Ring was pretty much the same. Did I not test that right?
it's hard to test damage, 50% ignite magnitude is not a joke, it's very noticeable
without the ring but with the blackflame keystone you need increased chaos damage
you could try titan for all that because of the small passives, but generally if you want to play incinerate you need a witch or a sorceress
Magnitude is good but Ignite Duration is also very noticeable.
I can try to do the testing again to see if anything like withering presence has an effect on the ignite damage.
Wither and despair are the way to go if using black flame ring for ignite dot for sure. I made a plague bearer ignite / poison infernalist using black flame ring

Yeah. I’ve been tinkering with a smith with the same idea too but just not having fun with melee haha. Might be my end league thing if I get the motivation for it. My idea was cast on ele ailment contagion with chaotic freeze for screen wide nonsense but not feeling good yet.
With just a level 4 flame wall on Beira, I’m doing around 214-236 damage.
With the Blackflame ring on, it’s only doing 195-216. So it’s actually a little worse.

Ok with Withering presence, I used Flame Wall at 20% withered, which by the end of the skill it had reached 45% withered. This in turn had my flame wall do 239-263
And that damage remains the same when I use avatar of fire too.
So that’s avatar of fire, flame wall at level 4 with Blackflame ring still allows the chaos damage to do damage via ignite

Hollow palm can scale pretty hard, but I think the fundamental difference is attack speed. Hollow palm can attack extremely quickly so you can use staggering palm + thundering strikes to fly across the map while throwing dozens of wind projectiles at everything.
Qstaff is gonna scale harder in damage.

comet socketed with spell echo and cascade did not work our? for monk you can take the energy%boost from ascendancy which can help with casting and with storm wave it procs a lot with additional fissure branches support
with a great chest piece you might be able to get up to 230spirit and use cast on crit and cast on elemental ailment, both using comet and still have room for herald of thunder with a cold set-up

that’s the range of your possible rolls
pretend it’s a dice, 6 sides 1-6
you can roll any of those numbers, defy ii gives you two rolls, and you use the higher roll
so if you roll a 2 and a 4, it uses the 4
how much damage it gives you depends how tight your damage range is
if your damage range is 1000-1000 for example, you can only roll 1000 anyway so rolling twice does nothing, aka 0% damage increase
if your damage range is 0-1000, your average roll would be 500
with 2 rolls, your average roll would be 666.66666
which is a 33.3333% increase over 500
so at minimum, defy 2 gives 0 dmg
at maximum it gives 33.333%
your build will fall somewhere in the middle, depending on how tight your damage range is
the formula is avg multiplier = (2a+4b)/(3a+3b), a being the bottom of your range and b being the top
so you can plug 2241 and 9857 in to see what you have
typically for most builds defy 2 is worse than a standard damage support, so you only use it if you want the ignore-mana aspect of it
for lightning heavy builds it’s generally pretty comparable to a standard damage support, since lighting has very large dmg range

yes, If you hav 100% increase ligtning damage on your gear for example :
Your base damage is 100 lightning, with +3% lightning you are at 103 ligthning => 206 total damage with your 100% increase lightning damage
For fire for example, and assuming 0% increase fire on gear, you do 100 lightning and 3 fire => 203 total damage with your 100% increase lightning damage. The fire added is not multiplied

they are 2 separated instances so nothing cancel out even if it's the same spells. Unless the spell is ember fusillade then I'm not sure.
with 100% crit chance and you applying 2 ailments a lot I would say you cast the spell 50% more often once you ad d cast on ailment

Lvl 80 Deadeye here, I'm not following a build guide and I'm trying to get my survivability up. I'm currently only running T8-T10 maps due to my low survivability. Only sitting at 1.6k life with 0 es. Evasion rating is at a embarrassing 22%. All res' are maxed out except chaos sitting at 40%. I know the answer is probably "get more max life" but that's easier said than done. I don't really struggle with surviving mobs and stuff, it's usually just a sudden one shot by something I couldn't even see coming. With all that said, anybody have any advice for me? Arcane surge would be nice, but getting enough of it on Lich seems to be a tricky endeavour, and I'm not sure it would really help much with overcoming costs since it would also increase my cast speed.

How does Withering Touch work? I’m confused by the last sentence in the description.
Basically, the higher the damage of the hit, the higher the chance to apply Withered with it, scaling off of the ailment threshold of the enemy. The lower the threshold and the higher the hit, the more chance to apply Withered.

To apply Withered as quickly as possible, yes, either big hits, or many hits.
Gotcha. I’m using Blackflame Unique ring so I’ve started applying athat to my skills and using withering presence, but didn’t realise it was based on the damage as chance to apply. Thanks!

Poison by default is only phys + chaos based. All damage means it’s also everything else, very powerful depending on what you do for it

Not necessarily. The guides and such online are pretty much a showcase of their own build and experiences.
Your best bet is two options. You can either just pick a class and go for it, see what works and what doesn’t, and use the search bar within the passive tree to look up things you’re after. Or you can follow a guide that’s as close as possible to what you want from your experience, and then you can follow that guide as strict or as loose as you like to cater to your own experience.

What is the best build for carrying 6 man in maps for xp and kills bosses ? Gonna start a new char , I want it to be somewhat fun . I have a molten blast ritualist which clears maps fast and is fun but I don’t like the single target damage method used , I hate requiem and don’t know how to scale it farther then 2 mil so I can carry full party . And I have a hallow palm monk which is good asf but slow speed wise and can be a pain with larger parties . I have 500+ div to work with I don’t wanna neccearily use it all. And I do already have a lot of good items etc, or a better huntress build. , currently ritualist on molten blast

I have a question, what is the actual base mana of a character before any attributes or levels?
I'm building a spreadsheet for my character and using all of the given information I have this formula which should be correct:
(34+(intx2)+(6x(lvl-1)))
So at level 2 as a witch with 15int, I should have 70 mana. However, in game it shows 68. It's even worse when I use the base i found online of 40, which brings it up to 76 total mana you should have as a lvl 2 witch with 15 int. Does anyoine have any advice? Is my math bad? What am i missing? Gemini is no help, it just keeps telling me there's something wrong lmao
never mind, for anyone interested the reason i was getting the wrong number compared to the in game number is because the section of the formula (6x(lvl-1)) is actually (4x(lvl-1)). Not sure if this has been expressed by GGG but every source i found said it was 6

The 6% is the mana regen you get when it's based on life when taking the 1st lich ascendency node.
This is likely the most frequent mana regen value talked about
for big parties like that atalui builds are obviously the best, likely spark with comet on crit, bloodmage, you deal millions of damage while being near immortal and can have around 100% movement speed too
I followed snoo, did a budget build, works great
i was under the impression it's kinda squishy with meh singletarget without big investment
but haven't tried it myself
hm I invested around 50 div, I am much tankier than snoo himself, high attack speed, the boss dps is maybe between 500k and 1 mil which is enough
so basically not good bossing dmg but enough to get by and still pretty good mapclear
out of curiosity r twister builds able to do the same generic singletarget solve that molten blasters use
just throwing on some last lament requiem setup offhand?
or is the tree too diff
keep in mind 500k dps is t3 xesht in 30 seconds, it's a pretty good dps, it's just there are broken builds that easily do 10 times more damage

but I was playing a homebrow Storm wave falling thunder monk, then thought maybe tempest flurry is better especially with staggering palm but thats very hard to keep up
and now I found out that i Love shattering palm and im confused on how to swap now
i kinda dont apply shock anymore so herald of thunder is kinda useless and only spamming shattering palm often doesnt proc the crystal unless i hit 5 enemies around them

is there a way to make bleed freeze? I was thinking of maybe adding the 100% bleed chance gem on herald of ice, and if I can make the dmg from bleed cause freeze build up it'd cause a chain reaction

it can't freeze
also bleed is physical dmg, you can scale the size of bleed by scaling the size of the initial phys hit (or hit in general if bloodmage) but u can't add elemental dmg to the bleed itself

if u wanna chain hoi, u do armour explosion

Shield Charge has the main skill tab damage, and then it has a second tab with "impact damage" that is significantly higher than the primary tab.
I have been assuming that the primary tab is the damage done to the creature you first hit with the shield, and that the impact damage is the AoE around that target (which maybe also includes the initial target?)
1: Is this accurate- if not, how should I expect it to be functioning?
2: Do both parts (assuming I'm right and it's two separate damage instances) proc all the supports, for example, impale?

So I wanna make a dual wielding build and was looking at the unique one handed maces and I have some questions, cuz I know nothing about dual wielding. How does each stat on each weapon affect each other? Let's say I use the mace that makes it so I always crit when I use an endurance charge, and use another regular mace for the flat dmg, are all my attacks still gonna crit just like they would if I was only using the unique mace? Or if I use the mace that causes all damage to contribute to freeze, will the damage from my other mace also contribute to freeze? If I have 1 mace with really high crit chance and another with very low, how is the crit chance calculated?

If I am using both Choir of the Storm and Sunder my Enemies, which resistance modifier takes over? Does Choir of the Storm just negate the benefit of Sunder my Enemies entirely or does SmE overwrite Choir so that they still accept negative modifiers to monster resistance?
I assume yes, it does negate. There are no order for those two.
haha you don't scale 100 ignite damage, you scale your gas arrow damage, you can look up fubgun's gas arrow guide
you need as many arrows on the bow as possible, flat damage everywhere, attack damage etc

I want to make a path finder with Giants Blood, use 2x big ass phys damage maces, and play poisons with poison magnitude scaling.
The idea would be to leverage heavy stun with perfect opportunity, to apply several high rolled poisons on the target at once.
Has anyone tried something like this before?
Presumably, leveraging Nebuloc from the stuns endurance as well, since giantsblood would let me use a nice rare mace with it, to double dip the guaranteed crits and base crit damage modifier

heavy stun buildup is kinda bleh in my experience into uber pinnacles, takes a lil bit to actually get the heavy stun off
and you can already get lucky attacks via the standard defy 2 constricting command stuff without speccing into heavy stun
especially as a pf over titan, idk if the heavy stun stuff would really be reliable/worthwhile
i think you could for sure look to make dw 2h mace poison work though
with HOB bursting plague + pathfinder prolif for clear coverage
some somewhat adjacent builds you could reference for ideas -
poison bleed resonating shield titan
i imagine your tree and gearing priorities would not be too different from this, minus block + the armour/es on left side in return for right-side poison stuff
dw 2h caltrops autobomber
i imagine you could potentially run a setup like this for clearspeed, with HOB + pathfinder prolif like the resonating shield build replacing the HOI armour explosion chaining for coverage
or just something like poison stampede
and then i guess poison sunder or earthshatter for singletarget

Defy and surround tech costs way too much opportunity wise compared to a few investments into stun buildup with something like Ancestrally boosted Seismic Cry for instance
I could theoretically use something like walls to trigger aftershocks from a seismic cry to instant stun a boss, if enough damage.

I want to use heavy stun because you can instantly break armor, and all the modifiers for physical damage against heavy stunned and fully armor broken targets might have a pre-mit increase to the physical hits for physical damage scaling to poison,
Though I do carry awareness that damage taken from the armor wont affect the poison damage at all.

heavy stun is more investment and also way less reliable on the targets you actually need it on (uber pinnacles, really juiced citadel bosses)

but by all means it doesn’t hurt to try from pf
if it doesn’t work out then you can still do the poison component
and just do constricting

Oneshotting the boss is relative to damage delivery,
If the same physical damage that can oneshot a boss was aimed at stunning it, it absolutely should be able to stun it, otherwise there is something dramatically wrong with the stun buildup mechanic in general

it’s just my experience that heavy stun investment isn’t particularly useful for Uber pinnacles
haven’t played nor seen a build where it looked very useful in that context

given that even if you don’t use defy, you’d probably still use the helmet
