you can't garuantee someone else's timeless jewel will alter passives the same way unless it has the same number so the best ones tend to be very high price

rly depends how fast ur progressing etc, no way to put a timer on it
for some ppl a few days of farming, for some ppl 1-2 maps
for some ppl 5 minutes of crafting
but it's not that much money, it's easily achievable farming for a bit on ur starter
If youre not particularly fast id expect like 10 - 15 maps
I am noob and confused. I finished interlude, and wanted to respec from grenades to explosive shot. I redid passive tree, it cost me 1/3 of gold I have, and when I started to change skills I realized I dont have support gems. Tried to buy some on currency exchange but none of the orders are going through. Am I stuck now because I didn't plan ahead and noticed I dont have enough supp gems to respec?
Are you putting enough currency to buy the support gems? The top of the exchange shows the prices

why is he using swift affliction 2 and chain 2 in the support runes? and not lv.3 instead?
swift affliction 3 does 50% more damage only when the duration is less than 1s. For chain i guess it could affect the spread of contagion.
Chain 2 adds +1 chain and gives 100% more chains, Chain 3 gives 200% more chains for a total of 0 by default
Chain is on ED because it doesn't affect it's DoT damage and makes it much easier to hit your contagion targets, as it'll hit multiple enemies in a pack and wont get body blocked by enemies without the contagion debuff

how does diminishing returns on rarity work?
Hey all, I’m completely new to PoE and trying to decide what class/ascendancy I want to go.
When I look up builds I see a lot about powerful/broken builds, but I’m kind of interested in what is the most fun to play. I’m not looking to optimize clearing or loot, more looking for high skill ceiling, large toolkit, and cool themes.
I like the witches themes a lot, but worried working with minions is not active enough of a playstyle for me, but I also have no clue what I’m talking about.
I also like the idea of hybridizing classes, like huntress and fire from sorc, or maybe hunter/ranger, but again, I don’t know what I’m talking about 🙂
Any recommendations on fun classes or skills is super appreciated!

Hey, I'm looking to swap to a Hollow Palm build on my Invoker and is there an ideal split for ES/Evasion ? I'm trying to plan which pieces to purchase and of which type but I'm unclear on how much ES is required to have a good amount of Critical Hit chance
You should PoB it cuz it depends on how much % inc you have
The less you have the more ES you want
Crit has a cap while attack speed doesnt
So you only want as much as it takes to cap

Before 0.3 they'd share the limit, if you put overabundance on one that single one could also have 1 more

Since you'd be somewhat starved for support slots on the triggered spells.
Looks like the source doesn't matter, as far as I can tell. The limit is shared between gems.

"gain as" essentially just takes whatever final amount of pre-mitigation damage you do and adds a multiplier ontop (additive with other gain as sources)

i think the only exception i can think of is "gain % phys as fire" can still add a bit of damage even if you have avatar of fire
cus any non-converted phys damage is still present, the gain %phys as fire will work on it, and then the phys is nullified and does no damage cus of AOF, or somesuch

no i mean, when u search for the weapons in the marketplace the DPS there doesn't seem to change, let's say u have 2 weapons with the same phys and ele dmg, one has attack speed, one doesn't, it seems to me that looks the same

So I'm running a bleed amazon, wondering if these boots that I just recently got are good because of the aggravate bleeding trade ( can't post images yet so hence the link)
Who is this stat for? Also the spellblade node? It seems like the game wants us to play monk quarterstaff mix of spellblade with spells and melee attacks.
But the only thing this works for and those nodes work for is using a spear or mace
I am just confused like what is the actual point of this stat in the game? So its just for spear/one handed maces players to path over near monk? Because the mace and spear nodes are a hike so even getting an node like spellblade makes no sense
I keep trying to cook up a melee caster hybrid that basically plays like a spellblade but even with half and half scaling there is like no good actual skills for it, POB not even showing any changes when I take these nodes and use crown of eyes for hollow palm? 😂
There is a lot of "just in case" nodes. It maybe will be useful when traps and dagger are released. Currently there are no meaningful synergy.

you can 100% use cast on crit and we do but the scaling for it sucks for spells, we used spear with threaded woven focus and crown of eyes for invoker during lightning spear meta

just spitballing some ideas since i've seen a ton of qs monks using reaper's invocation / coc comet
the scaling just seems so off for any actual quarterstaff, I would fine not being able to have it do giga damage and just using a quarterstaff to attack and occasionally casting a spell out
but its 100% easier on something like spear or one handed mace because you can slam a focus or a scepter

depends where u r on tree
generally armour+evasion hybrid is quite bad
it was alright in previous patches, but they added evasion to deflect% and armour applies to ele dmg% this league
so it tends to be more effective to scale one or the other to a high value, so you can get the most juice out of the secondary layers they provide
leftside tree u go life+armour
rightside tree u go life+eva (with hybrid es oftentimes)
if ur like a mercenary and in the center, u can kinda go one or the other
depends on ur preference + the specifics of ur setup

Im a melee tactician with open ascendancy points..in this case what would you suggest because my small brain does not quite understand the Tactician nodes regarding EVA and amrour

1st Ascendancy is "solid Plan"..after that it does not matter.
Ill have a companion to "always shock" and then focus on primal strikes..

tact is one of the only ascendancies that can kinda get away with going hybrid, if it paths all the way to stay light use cover
most common setup for tacts though is
a solid plan + the pin nodes + polish that gear
but the pin nodes aren't very useful if you're full melee
usually i see primal strikes just used as singletarget on lightning spear setups
i have not really seen primal strikes as a primary clearing skill
Currently the clear aint bad (T7 maps) but surviving is becoming a problem.
So im torn between hybrid or full armour or evasion.
it may be a hybrid angle simply because i have no idea what nodes you can even take if you're full melee
so u probably end up with a solid plan + the banner node + the armour/eva line
if you clear with lightning spear u'd prob do a solid plan + the pin line + polish that gear and go full armour or full eva
do you think the 50% max Evasion and armour from "stay light" is rough as a melee?

you never actually have 50% pdr from armour vs big hits
your pdr% from armour is just an estimate vs basic attacks from white mobs of your level
but what you're really worried about are larger one-shot type hits
vs those you rarely get anything even close to 50% pdr from armour
the bigger the hit, the less value armour has
you would check this chart, (double your flat armour due to the tactician node) and check your pdr% against the size of the hit
let's say you have 7.5k armour doubled to 15k - you'd only have 50%+ (capped at 50 with the node) pdr into hits up to ~1200 dmg
vs a 3k dmg hit for example, you'd only have ~30% pdr

when i swap though the minions evaporate out and dont leave behind any cropses
he's saying to use a sceptre on your weapon swap with sacrifice and any kind of persistent minion, then cast unearth while you're still swapped to sceptre and the unearthed minions should persist when you swap back
your minions count as corpses with sacrifice active
they don't actually leave corpses

I am happy that I made Hollow Palm work well enough to comfortably run t16 6-mod corrupted maps, but I am also sad that the very same build, modified only slightly to use a quarterstaff, is just straight up better with a good enough Qstaff
Can I somehow increase the frenzy charge generation from electrocution by using meta gems with combat frenzy?
Combat frenzy is a reservation skill itself, so it can't be triggered by meta gems.
The only ways I know of to increase charges generated are the Charge Profusion support gem & some passives in the skill tree. Make sure you put quality on Combat Frenzy.
Done those already. But alright, I still struggle with making use of meta gems in my builds...
If you have good crit, you can try triggering Sniper's Mark with a meta gem & you can get some extra charges with that

For a palm monk build what is more important attack speed or rage on hit?
if you're doing hollow palm & your gear is good enough, you probably don't need attack speed in your jewels, but it probably won't hurt either.
I don't personally use the support that spends rage on shattering palm, so just Rage III on Ice Strike is enough to keep rage up for me.
maybe look for stuff like crit chance, crit damage bonus, and generic damage increases like attack damage, elemental damage, cold damage, etc.
I honestly dropped hollow palm & adjusted my tree a bit to work with a quarterstaff because the damage was just so much better, so I am using attack speed, crit chance for attacks, increased attack damage, & a flex slot on 2 emeralds.

The debuff is in fact applied to the mob. The noteable only changes the effect of the debuff, so yes, It does persist between swapping weapons. I have used it extensively this league

If you are, you might like to have the rage on hit, idk
It doesn’t negate their resists or anything. It just extends the fully broken Armour debuff (20% increased physical damage taken) to fire damage as well.

If you put Rage III in Tempest Flurry you probably don't need rage on hit jewels as long as you're not spending rage on anything
at the same time it also means that if someone else fully breaks armour, this notable shouldnt give any increase to fire damage
Attack speed matters mostly for stacking combo fast on bosses, at least if you're doing that tech anyway

If your gear is good enough crit chance matters less, but I'm kinda poor rn so the best I got was like 67% on my main skill with Hollow Palm
I did better switching to a staff lmao
But I also take crit chance in my jewels, and adjusted my tree to take a little bit more there as well
With my Qstaff setup, my main clearing skill has like 87% crit chance & I use inevitable critical on falling thunder so it's probably capped? I haven't looked lately lol

If you put culmination on a skill, striking an enemy with any other skill should generate combo for the skill that has Culmination
That’s not odd, in my opinion. That’s how weapon sets work. You specialize each set. Just don’t break armour on the other weapon set, or if you’re warbringer then move stuff around and put hard points into those nodes. That’s what i do.

Ive considered changing my wand for my bloodmage, this is the one i have my eyes on rn (duelling) and the Galvanic is my current one, POB says that i do get a dmg increase from 61k to 67k but i go from 79,8% crit to 71,55% but i do have more crit rate against blinded enemies so i dont know if thats so bad, would that be a good upgrade? 5 divine for me personally is an important decision. I also dont know if PoB takes the "increased spell damage from skill that cost life" into consideration
altho i lose the ignite dmg from my current wand, which also gave me 67k dmg in total, so maybe that wand is not good for 5 div as an upgrade
is there any way to see what a timeless jewel does in different sockest without allocating all those sockets on a new char

As a casual should I follow a Meta build? Do a less common starter build or make my own? Not sure if I’ll be able to farm for meta amounts of currency
The correct answer is always, "Whatever you have the most fun doing," but, I always recommend doing your own thing. PoE2 is setup really well to allow experimentation and in general, you'll learn more by doing your own thing.
Think of the game as a series of problems you need to solve. Like, "Do I need to do more damage, or survive bigger hits? Is my map clear / aoe lacking? How do I fix these problems?"

so what im running is a ice shot build. i have been running with elemental curse, ice tip arrow, frozen salvo, barrage, and snipe.... but i recently got rakiata's flow and need to get rid of elemental curse. my ice shot now does enough damage that i dont need snipe. which means i dont need barrage either. So i have 3 open spots... thinking about going freezing mark, and escape shot. but i have one spot left... was going to do tame beast but i dont have teh spirit for it. same with war banner. i am really just looking for somethign that i will pop on boss fights to boost my damage for a few seconds
also you don't use unique jewels(like megalomaniac or from nothing)
you probably could cheat a lot of nodes with them

there is no objective answer to this question
but generally, i think more cost efficiency should be better
considering that it reduces all of your main attack's mana costs
while regen is only part of your recovery (along with flasks and leech)

i recommend starting over fresh personally; it is not easy to get a good crossbow off this craft
even if it's an exceptional base, you're starting on a cannonade crossbow instead of a siege crossbow
cannonades are just the lower tier of siege crossbows
what kind of budget are you working with for your craft?

ok so nothing too expensive
personally the way i'd recommend doing this is
find rare siege crossbows with t2% phys, and rare siege crossbows with t1 flat
the t1 flat should not cost more than 1-2ex each
the t2% phys will cost 1-10ex each, i wouldn't go over that
recombinate
the expected success rate is ~2.5-3%
so you need to go through maybe 30-50 recombinates
which sounds like a lot but isn't bad in reality, that's about 1 div's worth of recombinates assuming you're getting the t2% phys at a bit under 10ex each
that way you start with t2 phys% + t1 flat
exalt suffix with omen -> perfect essence gain as x% element onto it with dextral crystallisation
fire/cold/lightning is ur preference, fire is most synergistic at a baseline since most grenades are fire dmg, lightning is good for shock, cold if u wanna do some herald of ice+armour explosion chaining
exalt suffix -> perfect essence of haste + dextral crystallisation
exalt another suffix -> perfect essence of battle + dextral crystallisation (you should only have 2 suffix, 3rd open)
if you lose the 50/50 repeat until you have haste+battle
then desecrate with ananamu for 15-25% chance for grenades to explode twice
you can divine before or after that final step, up to you
if you divine before it, use abyssal echoes with the desecrate incase u lowroll 15%
the total crafting cost should be around 2-3divs
for a crossbow like this
there's higher cap crossbows ofc, but out of ur budget at 10div

i would estimate 20-30div fast sale
looking at the site, in terms of actual value on a pure grenade spec, there are not superior crossbows until the 80d range
but a craft like this would not sell for 80d
because some of the desirable stats aren't money-makers
2x grenade explode chance, gain as x% don't show on dps
i think a slow sale could be 40d, maybe 50d tops
if you were to try to buy a comparable crossbow for a grenade spec outright, it would cost you 80-100d

I have a couple of questions that I'd appreciate some clarification for:
- First, does spell damage scale the damage from the DoT component of Essence Drain and Decaying Hex? It's my understanding that for some ailment types like ignite, spell damage does not scale their DoT output. But, since ED and DH aren't technically ailments but rather DoT components of spells, do spell damage modifiers effect it? In which case, could I pick up these Lich nodes to augment their damage?
- Second, does Burning Inscription work with Blackflame Covenant? Since the fire damage is coming from burning ground generated by a support gem applied to a curse, I don't know if it qualifies as the right type of fire damage for BC to work.

i just crafted a prob 100 div breach ring
what i did to craft mine was take a scepter with a t1 hydbrid spirit base and then a scepter with allies regen life with as low of a mod level as possible and recomb them
then i would use 2 homo ex with greater ex orbs until i hit +4 on minions
it's still a lot even if i make more things like this and they sell but it should get there eventually
after you do that succesfully you have to greater/perf ex slam pref until you hit either t1 %spirit or t1 allies in your presence deal increased damage
with a prefix omen*
then you have to omen of whittling away the low tier regen life mod with a perf chaos orb
this leaves you with 2 good suffixs and finally you desecrate for the missing mod
is there a good path of building for vaal guards

presence of area has merrit as a suffix too especially if youre a lich
with alot of minions and while mapping with good ms its easy for them to be outside your aura range

How is damage redirect (damage taken from mana before life) supposed to work? I'm at 46% but my mana never dips below 90% full, as if damage is not being redirected to my mana. For example, if I have 100 mana and 50% redirect - if I get hit with 100 damage, shouldn't I be left at 50 mana?

In general resistances are harder to get. So imo better to get resistances.
Build resist here. I took stats and it's not worth it. Resists means you have more wiggle room for getting other stats on your gear like crit or damage

if you want fun to play and don't mind it being super non meta, i've been doing a tri infusion stormweaver with mercy arc + CoC warp for clear and firestorm + swap to CoC comet for bossing, and it's been hella fun and goes crazy fast

I ditched Iron Reflexes because it doesn't take into account the % evasion I get from Surrounded nodes but yeah I get that they're useless anyways. Gas nade is Persistent Ground, Deadly Poison, Defy, Short Fuse & Deliberation

yea i would either just go IR, drop the eva% surrounded nodes and scale full armour with armour applies to ele dmg taken rolls
or drop armour entirely and just scale eva + deflect%
the problem with hybrid is
uhhh i mean i have the helm on
armour and eva both have their respective secondary defensive layers
and when u go hybrid u end up with a really weak amount of both

u can simply input it as
5% gain as fire 5% gain as lightning 5% gain as cold on separate lines
u gotta try a shankgonne nader next if u haven't already
it is a wildly different experience from the other nade setups

Pillar of the caged god with 4 sockets all running 1-60 lightning seems to go real hard.
stack cdr and aoe
get some nice armour
run fireflower for big damage on cluster/explosive + scales the level of blackpowderblitz (lower cd)
proc fireflower cus shankgonne always ignites -> procs ngamahu's charm -> max rage
run berserk and take no dmg because bpb is a leap -> run holy descent for consecrated ground -> perma 5% life regen and 50% reduced curse effect -> 1.8x ur dmg

Alright I have discovered a cursed technique for scaling Supporting Fire on Tactician. However, I think in doing so I've found a pretty major bug/unintended mechanic working against the build, and I'm hoping for someone else's eyes on it to see if I should bug report it.
First I'll explain the scaling/mechanics.
- Supporting Fire is a minionless minion skill that fires down 4 volleys of arrows at an interval with really good base damage and a 40 sec CD. You can scale the damage, but modifiers to attack speed and skill duration have no obvious affect. (So just scale damage or reduced CD)
- Undying Hate has this cracked ass notable that modifies Minion CD directly and therefore modifies Supporting Fire's CD. (Image 1)
- With this you can get roughly 400% CDR on supporting fire for the exchange of hefty point investment.
- After some testing Supporting Fire, it properly scales it's CD down quite heftily. Here I have only roughly 268% CDR, and it reduces it to the correct amount. (Image 2)
- After casting the skill, the cooldown works properly, and it fires 4 volleys. However, after the cooldown finishes, the next cast only fires 1 volley and the cooldown seems to only gain the 80% minion CDR from Bidding 3 support. Every odd number casts fires the proper number of volleys, and every even number of casts fires only 1 volley and results in a support-only CDR.

1st half of the video is displaying the bug, the 2nd half is displaying that the bug is not tied to a strange background cooldown for the individual volleys (waited 1/4th of unmodified CD to test if 1 more volley would fire (it did not)).

I have a unique Chiming Staff as a Sorceress that has the modifier "spells fire projectiles in a circle"
My issue is that when I use Frost Bolt, it fires freeze balls in a cricle as described, but when using Ice Nova (which does its effect on the ball Frost Bolt launches [or one of them if you have Multishot] instead of around the character), it generates the Ice Nova behind my character, and then on a ball that is behind me, which is super awkward to use. It should naturally be the ball that goes in the direction of your aim

they reserve less spirit
like if minion reserve 100 spirit and you have 20% reservation efficiency it will reserv 100/1.2=83.3 (idk how it will round it up)
