why fire though
Because imo Fire should not only be for Warrior class and there are a lot of Lightning/Chaos/Cold builds but not much fire builds so Id've liked to try something new on my ow n
does this stack with Deadeye ascendancy to make 70% chance for double effect
Skill, then class+ascendancy, then passive tree
before passive tree, you need to decide how you wanna scale the skill
like crit or not crit
or hit or dot (for fire for example)

22% seems pretty low, but then again im not really use to optimal crit chances in this game

Rite of passage, which one should I go? Spirit of the Boar for bleed/poison III synergy (also gives 20% DR), or Spirit of the Primate and get chill/freeze and 80% damage? I'm playing poison pathfinder. Any tips/help is appreciated, about to spend 20 div, would like some opinions if poss

It wouldn't make any sense for it to be "local" because the weapon has no inherent elemental damage
So it is generic "increased" global bucket

Idk what you mean, more skills are viable now than ever before, but if you just want to blast everyone is using lightning arrow for that. Corruption ED is also good at clears from campaign into maps
I'm up to T4 maps with skel reavers and Unearth, no idea what my limit is, probably can do everything
I just need more time, never been in poe2 maps before

to me that reads that when armour is fully broken, they take more fire damage too not just phys, but you still need to break armor somehow

Problem with % armour applied to ele is that it applies before res
Dude, I tried out a Titan with over 30k Armour, over 120K Armour applied to ele res, over 3K life, and guess what
still got ONE SHOTTED by big hits 
And to reduce 4k base hit by half you need 40k armour
And most ele hit are higher than 4k

Also, the fact that armour shows like 90% phys dmg reduction on character, when it could end up being like 10% also makes the tooltip entirely unreliable, esp. for new people
yeah, but lets say u have 20K armour, which should show 90% phys dmg reduction
but u take 2k damage from one hit....that is 20 / (20 + 2*10) = 50% phys dmg reduction
so ure little tooltip that said 90% dmg reduction is wildly wrong 
and it gets worse as damage gets bigger

If 80% of my Phys damage is converted to fire and 100% of my fire damage is converted to Chaos, does that mean I can scale the resulting chaos damage with physical damage mods and chaos mods?
Only thing that would work is adding flat +phys damage, right?

If I lock my gear to both weapon sets and put warcry buffs on one set will I actually get the cooldown buffs and everything from that set when I switch back to my attack weapon set? I would think it would snapshot that stuff when I use the warcry.

Crushing Blows are hits that cause a Heavy Stun on enemies that have enough Heavy Stun buildup to be considered Primed for Stun.
thats tricky, you should keep buf, but in unreal stuff tends to dissapear when source is gone 😄 so u have to check

No, it isn't. Its their own engine, same engine as POE1 in fact.
perfect is -5. so that all bonus from surrounded is always active. with -4, then u need 1 enemy to be within 3mm

when you lock your weapon set 1 weapon/offhand, and have a skill using weapon set 2+skill tree2 does it use weapon set 2 ?
locking it applies it to both sets
so if you lock your main and offhand, you're just swapping the passive skill tree points
you can also just lock one item, ie my shield is locked to both sets but i swap my weapon

it's not an amazing class for non-mortar gameplay
but you can just clear with explo shot
but tbh with you it's just not going to be as good as explo shot from like deadeye or titan

Like, I'm playing Lich, and past level 90 or so, the best I can take is those small +10% spell damage nodes.
kinda just depends on ur build and placement on tree; builds that look for other multiplicative scaling vectors like rage, crit, etc are more node-hungry lategame
and anything on right side of tree has ms nodes to go for

anyone knowledgable with monk that can help me figure out what skill I should remove? (replaced an unset ring with original sin, so playing a chaos monk)
so Impending Doom seems pretty dead now that they "buffed" cursed ground support to spawn max 2 cursed grounds instead of 1 (which means spell echo will not auto-remove the first ground when it echoes)... is there any saving this archetype? I've been playing it as a 2-button using two different curses with the exact same links, but the later i get the clunkier it starts to feel, and the more the damage is really starting to fall off.
how do we save impending doom as a build without cursed ground support?
using: tempest flurry, tempest bell, falling thunder, storm wave, hand of chayula (snipers mark with despair), charged staff, reaper's invocation (profane ritual), ghost dance, wind dancer, charge regulation, and currently removed herald of thunder
playing as a stormweaver, so getting up to 2 shocks at max 95% from tempest flurry
so, herald of thunder will proc even though I'm chaos damage
the reaper's invocation is constantly giving me charges of all types to feed charge regulation
no idea?
I'm wondering if it'd be better to remove tempest bell and keep herald of thunder?

There's also a socketable with 10% damage taken to mana
And a timeless abyss jewel that makes mana regen able to overcap but gives 50% less regen
4 socket Cloak lets you get 70% damage taken to mana without MoM's downside which i believe with tree lets you get 100%

If I am equipped with original sin, and use an attack that converts my physical damage into a particular elemental damage type, will that elemental damage then be converted into chaos damage? Or does the gears conversion happen before the abilities conversion
if you want to move through the map fast then tempest flurry hollow palm attack speed stacking
For instance, if I attack with lightning spear while wearing an original sin, will I be dealing lightning damage, or chaos damage?
@wild dirge I'm using original sin and storm wave, it converts the skill's conversion of physical to lightning to chaos

My thought for acolyte was if it’s possible to hit 200 volatility and upkeep it, and hit max purple flames, I can be dealing 270 % “more” chaos damage
But I don’t know if that is at all possible because I never play monk

i just logged in from this morning (after the patch) and my spirit was less my minons were less and my minions were missing +2 from scepter

Because chayula gets the added benefit of not taking damage from volatility, and also can apply all elemental ailments from volatility

i wasn't using 2 weapon sets. i logged in to my current gear and my scepter wasn't giving +2 or any spirit. I picked it up, put it in the left slot of weapon set 2, while still being in weapon set 1, and my weapon set 1 now has the +spirit and my minion gems have +2 levels to them
i can't get my scepter to work in my right hand on weapon set one. It was working this morning before lunchtime, that was the last time i played and it worked for hours like that. I have extra attributes over what is required for everything wearing/gems

That was a fixed modifier bug for spectres(which turns into normal mobs when you get them). I'm referring to the normal auras rares spawn with now since I'm going to use tamed beast.

no energy shield. 0/0 is considered empty, not full
ie, you're at 0%, which is less than 35%, which is low energy shield
you just apply ailments from chaos damage
but im also quite interested in no damage from volatility
my thoughts are that the volatility chaos damage 'extra' , and the purple flames chaos damage 'extra' would be pretty strong
but Ive never played with volatility before so I dont know how easy it is to stack
the issue I hear with volatility isn't stacking it, it's waiting for it to go off

1000% ES recharge speed seems very nice and the 'energy shield recharge starts when minions are reformed' notable seems like it'd avoid the downside quite comfortably.

Yes, but I'll have some reviving minions.
I'm thinking low tier skeleton priests which I'll consume with profane ritual for power charges to get - that's the idea, yeah.
Lower reservation means more priests. Some of the skeleton gems I think have a set reservation at all levels, while others- Oh it's the other way around!
Whoops. I hadn't really been paying that close attention. I'm in the interlude section of the campaign, so not yet mapping.

I guess that won't work as well as I'd hoped then, not unless I invested heavily into charms. Ritualist could do better with charms for ignite, bleed, and poison but even then there are a bundle of other abilities and ground effects that deal damage over time.
Although I guess ultimately, I wouldn't want to be getting hit anyway and Gloamgown's cheap enough that I can at least give it a try and see how it works in practice.
I'm still optimistic about the core of the build: gigantic chaos zombies and Rupture the Soul for aoe clear. It just sucks that I can't test how effective sacrifice is until level 58.

So if you have 80% evade chance you are guaranteed to get miss-miss-miss-miss-hit-repeat chain of hits
Where you start on that chain for each mob is random
Since it's per mob you can always start at miss and if you never take more than 4 hits from single mob you could never be hit at all if lucky

So if every mob rolls like 10 abd dies before it could make enough attacks to get to 81.. you won't be hit ever

I'm Lich Ed/C, and I see a lot of the lvl 98+ builds still have contagion at like, level 3. Is this ideal, or, just because of mana/mana regeneration? I had it at 5l and lvl 18 and was keeping up, but went to lvl3 for 6l.
it spreads almost as well at level 3 as it does at level 20

- The odds of someone having played both of those is incredibly small, so you'll likely just get vibe-based or popularity-driven answers
- With the disparity in gear between characters, it's incredibly hard to say which builds have better tankiness/damage in a broad sense. Though if I had to bet, I'd say lich is probably tankier because ES is still generally great.
- Fun is subjective so I can't help you there. I can just say that I've personally been enjoying ED/C playstyle. Haven't tried rake aside from rakestomping the campaign in 0.2

Good for map clear, good for most bosses, terrible for bosses you can't facetank (arbiter only so far)
(most pinnacle bosses were killed by holding rmb and only moving to boss when he run away)

I'm thinking of a recoup build, but i'm torn between infernalist (demon form + pyromantic pact) and chrono/something else (scold's for self hits)
former gets +50% life and ES recoup from helmet and belt and demon form. However must keep max mana very low and self hits are less consistent.
latter gets infinite mana, MoM, faster recoup, but that's 3 uniques to do so
ofc you can go caster warrior
warbringer is good for bone storm, in a strange way
and titan have good ES stack potential

i was planning on getting a well rolled primate rite of passage, as i play freeze monk. could get one for like 25 div
or i could go for a 44 div owl rite of passage, trading the freeze buildup for some extra cold damage and 60% more energy shield, but i cant afford a 20 sec one, and it costs more

its kinda meh but im having a lot of success with it mostly because crossbows still slap and its position on the tree makes better use of the surrounded nodes for constricting command better than anyone else 🤷♂️

personally i think i'd recommend grenades over shockburst for bossing unless you have a lot of currency

What I’ve been doing is using voltaic nades and spamming spear
the game is so easy that any skill can clear fast
to be fair some skills actually need a decent amount of currency to start clearing fast, but once they do they blast

but once you have really good gear it just zooms

There is no hard cap and I don't know of anyone who is aware of the formula or a soft cap
the tooltip for hit damage makes me think it does work. but if i go and test where i hit myself due to an ignite effect and then hold alt in the passive tree it doesn't reduce my evasion
You might need to allocate it (or any other effect that does something when you've been hit) and check your character page.

Keep your resists capped, armour is underrated, don't get surrounded, if you get the bird bosses in trial of chaos, retry it.
I recommend leap slam + brink and then finish with boneshatter for packs. For rares I like to use perfect strike mixed with rolling slam+fist of war. When the rolling slam isn't charges I used perfect strike
I put rapid attacks and execute on mace strike
presence radius is easy to get.. also why do you care about it at all?
Once you get to trial of the sekhema, don't complete it. Run it a few times and log out before the boss to farm jewels and relics and just generally good loot.

If you have a nuts run with lots of water and keys, then you can finish it for the chests at the end

also if possible i want it to be something that is likely to be a staple and stay consistently good for leveling across patches. obviously nothing can guarentee that, but if there are trends i should be aware of like maybe spellcasters are always less item dependent or something i would want to know that too
For your first character of the league in hcssf, yes. Sekhema is hella easy once you get the hang of it. Titan gets tanky from armour and strength. Strength = life. You want to aim for at least 400 max life for each act you've completed.
Don't be afraid to spend your goddamn orbs either
Essence drain+Contagion and/or minions. Check out Rax's recent YouTube video about leveling with minions+ed/c

ed/c isn't item dependent much and lich is good
grenades have good base damage
minions need spirit, so sceptres, but w/e othen than that

I mean, all classes can start with any skills. I personally like chronomancer and ed/C works with it. You can do ED/C on like 5+ ascendancies and do just fine
tbh from like lvl 28 witch(and sorc for that matter) leveling is crazy easy

in POE2 you need uncut gems, so you are drop depent on spells too

From what we've seen about poe2 so far, attack builds are slightly more item dependent, but they can also get a ton of flat damage from gear. Spells can get absolutely no flat damage from gear

Like, a caster leveling setup can get wrecked hard by bad rng with a weapon. If an attack build has crappy weapon rng, they can at least get some flat damage from gloves, rings, etc

LA was good, but not THE best
If we look at the three major patches for poe2 we can see:
-ED/C has been usable the whole time
-Triggered skills got gutted
-Movement tech got gutted
-Most skills are all over the place and prone to debilitating bugs
-We are still missing axe, dagger, primal, trap, and sword skills
-There is no life on the tree so people steer toward ES for endgame
-OP interactions get nerfed (orb of storms + lightning rod, rake + stomping ground, flame wall + srs, etc)

When trigger skills got gutted a week in is when I stopped playing for a week cos I couldn't afford to respec my bricked sorc💀
Then I got the motivation to play on a different char again

Oh, and 1-button builds tend to get nerfed
So relying on a combo is generally safer than a one button build

Can't seem to get the hang of getting damage on my LA skill and HOT
Need some help understanding Ignite and Immolate supports.
Can I still use both on a skill at the same time?
So it would increase the magnitude and a chance to ignite but the skill itself wouldn’t cause ignite right? But ignite could then be caused by another harder hitting skill?
I’m just trying to figure out how many skills I need to put Ignite2/3 on them so I can get decent ignite damage from other skills. Plus I need ignites to use ancestral cry, didn’t realise how much it takes to initiate it

Well I thought the same thing but that’s not the case!
Ignite increases the magnitude of flammability, so you see the little flame and a number under the enemy that goes from 1-100, the skill that has immolate as well cannot cause an ignite, but any other skills can, barring that they don’t have immolate socketed

Your % chance to ignite is equal to the flammability on an enemy
Assuming you deal a damage type that can ignite
Then things like Shield wall and I’m using Rolling slam will have fire attunement, and also have avatar of fire.

So eventually when I scale that on the tree I won’t have as much need for Ignite support gems

Depending on what your goals are you might not need any flammability magnitude or ignite supports at all
But I don't know the math on flammability. It basically comes down to your dps
Higher dps means less ignite magnitude needed to reliably/permanently ignite
