How do I configure crossbow skills like shockburst rounds on pob?
I did not look into the skills that much, but assuming you want to know the shotgun projectile dps here is how I would do it:
- Select the Skill in Skills Tab
- Enable Include in Full Dps
- Set the Count on the right to the number of pellets
- Select it as your Main Skill on the left panel
- Select Projectile
You will see the Average DPS at the bottom of the stat overview panel. This includes reload times, but excludes the chain effect of the skill as I am not sure how it functions on a single target.

Ah sorry i confused the skill with Galvanic Shards, you are correct you do indeed not have to change the count in that case as it does not shotgun.
If I remember correctly the explision effect also damages the same enemy, meaning you woulddeal damage with both projectile and explision, but im not sure on that one. You can either estimate the dps by selecting the explision instead of proj in the dropdown on the left or, if you know both deal damage on the same target, add the skill twice in the skill menu, add both to full dps and set one to explision and the other to projectile. Just make sure they have the same supports.

No, count is the amount of instances that are calculated. Since the dropdown of the skill on the left only offers Projectile (wich I assume is single Projectile) instead of all Projectiles you have to multiply it yourself by increasing the amount of skill assumed to be active at the same time. In other words we pretend we have as many crossbows as we have projectiles and use them all at the same time. But this does not matter here since i thought it was another skill

You can't ignite, you shock now
No. It just means you will deal lightning damage instead of fire and as such you will inflict shock instead of ignite.
If something ignites as though deling fire damage... Well, now it doesnt.

if they say they leave a particular type of ground, they will still create that type of ground
So...how does it work if it leaves an ignited ground and ignites the enemy? All my elemental damage is chaos now.
Kinda wraps back to my original question on whether or not ignited now does a different damage. Or is it now that its an ground surface, it stops scaling with what I ahve?

so if i +20% quality it, for my invoker passive skill 8 es = 1 spirit that 725 bottom one gets computed?
its literally just adding 20% qual to it so you dont have to calc it yourself

I think conversion works differently in poe2 than it does in poe1
if you scale the fire, you get nothing
from what i remember in PoE2 only the final converted damage type damage increase work

for pure stun stun iii is still a lot better, as it's 50% less damage, even if you factor that in, it's still effectively "150% more" stun than stun II's 70%
Ah, ok ty. I wasn't really sure because if that 50% less damage. But now that I think about it, im not really using flash nades for damage anyway
i also run short fuse on mine so it's damage is utterly irrelevant anyway

i'm deadeye so i already throw like 4 grenades out (1 from deadeye, 1 from tree, 1 from crossbow) so i don't use multishot
Ok sweet ty. Im tactician, so im running multi. I'll test it with those supports and see how it goes
it's more down to utility for flash grenade in terms of number of grenades
but for damage ones, i think even tactician should consider dropping multishot at end game
tactician is 3 grenades , so it's 300% damage
if you use multishot, it's 75%*5=375%, but also 20% less speed
most support gems can offer 20~25% damage anyway, without any speed downside, so it still brings teh 300% to 375%
5 grenades would clear a little bit better due to better coverage but worse single target damage because realistically it ain't hitting the same enemy with all 5 grenades

It feels real bad with the CD, even with Cascade to be able to blow them all up. I also use Snap to pop ailments for Remnants, so using it to blow up Frostbolts is kind of meh. No biggie. Will just have to deal with it until I get the currency for the ring

How does "increased defences from shield" interact with Iron Reflexes if the shield is purely evasion? Does it get converted to armour and then scaled by the bonus, or is it just lost?
is there anyway to automate fire infusions? im currently using living bomb with overbundance so i can get 2 infusions and snap for when they are ignited. im level 27 currently so no "cast on" skills (i dunno if they would work though)

I feel like the infernalist "all damage can add flammability and ignite" node is just bad the longer I think about it.
In order for Ignites to be good, fire nodes help a lot. If you're taking fire nodes, you're less incentivized to actually use a non-fire source of damage for igniting. And then the infernalist node becomes worse

I'm trying so hard to figure out how to use the infernalist's "all damage can ignite" node without just taking a ton of fire damage nodes anyway. The way ignite scales in poe2 just makes that node feel super bad
Like, I'd love to do some weird cold spell ignite build, but if I'm taking cold nodes then I'm not taking any ignite magnitude/faster ignite nodes in fire clusters and my Ignites are gonna be bad
And if I take fire nodes, they don't raise my base ignite since I'm doing cold damage

Is it just me or does pure eva + deflect just feel like sht? I have all max res (except chaos on 50%), 1.3k hp and 60% eva + 62% deflect chance. legit getting one shot by some garbage all the time
If evasion and deflect both miss then you effectively have no damage reduction. So yeah, you're gonna get one shot sometimes. Also that evasion chance is an estimate. More accurate mobs will have better chances to hit you
For something with multiple attack types and tags such as https://poe2db.tw/us/Spear_of_Solaris, I'm assuming that the individual components are still affected separately? Projectile modifiers won't affect the ignited ground, etc.

Hi, noob question but how do people run with 5k+ shields and 1 life? I know the node that will let you have maximum 1 life and gain chaos and bleeding immunity. But that does not give you more shield

so if I want to play an ignite based build: afaik I can only apply a single ignite, so its all about having a single fire spell that deals high damage, put ignite support gems on it and let that spell trigger ignite? can ignites crit? what happends if I ignite with a lower magnitude just afterwards?

I'd recommend holding alt and clicking on things like ignite, fire damage, and flammability.
Basically, ignite magnitude is based on the fire damage of the hit that inflicted the ignite. So Ignites cannot crit, but critting with a fire hit will inflict a stronger ignite

My blasphemy curse linked to ele weakness shows the indicator on ME, but it doesn't seem to show any affect on indicator on MOBS??
I should add an addendum that the ignite magnitude is based on the total damage that is capable of igniting, which, by default, is just fire. But if you have something like blackflame covenant, chaos damage will also count

im pretty sure its only % chaos damage, but you can increase the ignite damage by going for ignite magnitude

If you have lower rarity than the people doing the killing, it will lower the rarity of the drops

What leech? All the chayula node does is make leech apply to chaos as well. There are still no sources of spell leech though. So you'll only be able to leech from attacks

So, my league starter was my "ethical" variant of Deadeye Lightning bolt (no Tornado Shot, no Barrage, SSF bow and gear until mid-maps). I just am getting it to where I wanted it to be... transitioning to Molten Blast / Glacial bolt on weapon swap, as one does. I'm excited to see how it works.
Anyone using Glacial Bolt or Molten Blast this league?

I'm enamored by the idea of scaling a defensive layer and deriving offense from it. Mana stacker or RF from poe1 come to mind, but I can't find a decent way to make it work in poe2.
The closest thing I can think of is an int/mana stacking infernalist. I want to go MoM, reserve 75% of my life so I can use pain attunement, and then go EB for even more mana.
The problem is that my only survivability (my mana) is being strained by 50% less recovery and double mana costs.
And I was thinking of using mana flare, but that sounds like suicide to deplete 25% of my current mana on crit.
Archmage has potential, but still very expensive.
Impending doom and burning inscription are the only things that don't expend mana and still do damage based on the mana. And their damage sucks. Not to mention burning inscription isn't a spell so it can't get converted by blackflame covenant and thus won't synergize with impending doom as much. And it can't crit, so pain attunement loses value.
It just feels so jank to try to get any offensive power from your defense in poe2.
ya, this is intended. It's one of the reasons they keep nerfing strength stacking.
I mean strength stacking has never really led to huge damage scaling in PoE2
Dex and Int stacking were the damage stacking stats
Strength stacking mostly makes you not die

Well, as it turns out they would rather let you do absurd amounts of damage than let you survive more attacks.
I'm super inefficient in Breach despite basically one shotting everythig with just Lightning arrow. The monsters aren't spawning fast enough and pretty early they stop, so I end up having so much down time. How do i fix this?
That does seem to be the case. Exponential damage scaling is fine, but a bit of survivability is not allowed :P

A lot of builds are probably out of date and cobbled together hastily to garner clicks as soon as possible

afaik it is just how much you kill, with magic and rare counting for more
never really looked too deep, ussally my breaches end because the map layout prevents me from continuting to clear

A funny build to work would be strength stacking Living Gemling. Because u can satisfy a gemwith your highest attribute i tall depends on how good living lightning would be scaling

Inherent Spells can't be obtained outside of the base type that has them, including Lightning Bolt, Firebolt, Freezing Shards and so on.

Yeah sadly all I want to do is play chaos melee but all the monk skills are basically ele, it’s a big sad state. Maybe shadow fixes it. On Poe 1 tree there are so many options to like covert 40% phy to chaos and it’s pretty fun. I really just want to go in and wind blast or combo with the breach mtx wind skills while doing chaos damage but sadly lightning is like always just so good

by end game, yes. i have a few side buttons on my mouse and then shift+whatever key to fill out the rest. It's not some dealbreaker or anything, just having a hard time to imagine it was OP beyond balancing, for them to just completely throw the towel in on it and not even try to balance for it somehow, as a unique concept for the gemling. Shattering Palm -> 60% converted to Cold.
I Have 5% of damage gained as extra lightning. I am also using original sin.
I gain lightning damage based on the phys + chaos damage (From cold), which is expected.
However, adding heavy swing (or Heft) will as expected increase the phys damage, but it does not increase the gained as extra lightning damage.
Am I missing something here? Is gained as extra only applied to base gem prior to supports being calcd?

Max fire res becomes better and its a great way to mitigate phys (also it locks some of the best nodes)

If you take 100 damage, 20 is chaos and 80 is phys. Doubled against ES is 40 and 80, chaos res lowers it to 10, for 10 and 80

The little bloodthief wasp tiny enemies are beasts. The Bloodthief queens that spawn them and can actually be rares don't have the beast label.
If you take only altered flesh and none of the followups you can take Chaos Innoculation to just delete 20% of phys too
basically while having 75% chaos res or CI, converting phys to chaos is net positive cuz phys is hard to reduce on ES build anyways
and you probably want node behind flesh anyways

Also, even if you have great mana sustain, there are situations (e.g. mana drains monters / floor, ultimatum) where you just can't have mana.

Mostly it is just a free skill with surprisingly solid damage on every weapon you just have available to you

Looks like Fleshpiercer's haste aura is legit gone, both Spectre and Tamed Beast version. Sadly don't think tamed beast is worth it for a regular ol haste aura on spectres.

why does weapon swap remove ancestral totems but not the mortar cannons?
even a swap from mace to mace removes them

What does "life leech not removed at full life" mean?
buying gear from trade can often help you push through rough patches in leveling though
normally leech is removed when u reach full life, but with that, it doesnt stop
I bought a few shields as I leveled with warrior
overleech is OP if you attack fast enough for it to matter
Normally, when you reach full life, all your leech stops, meaning if you take some damage you will have to hit enemies again to start leeching again. With life leech not being removed at full life (people also call it "overleech"), the leech will carry on regardless, and if you take damage then you will go back to healing up right away

No problem! It's a pretty strong defensive mechanic because it makes leech feel like a much more consistent form of recovery
another good stat to get for leech is '% of leech is instant%', which effectively gives you some life gain on hit
though you have to bear in mind that most bosses get some varying degree of 'leech resistance' which makes your leech worse, idk if we have any idea how much different bosses get and how much it affects you though

Nope, it's not a curse (check the gem tags, they tend to let you know what things will apply)
If I am immune to chaos damage and I have a unique that gives me 20% of Elemental damage from Hits taken as Chaos damage How much damage reduction does that end up being when you take 75% Ele Resistances in to account? Idk how the math works out and I couldn't find it on the wiki

I'm trying to figure out what they mean when they say to take eternal youth? that just makes it so my 3000 ES never recharges

Ok I have a build idea that I'd like some feedback on to make it even better
Right now I have Skelington Warriors reviving and self-immolating, then exploding, every 6 seconds
This does ok damage by itself, but the point is it makes lots of corpses for my Unearth
So I can do Unearth minions build even against bosses
The minions last for 20~ seconds so I can max them out with this setup, though it may take 12 seconds to fully ramp up
At least at my current spirit / gem levels
While this is going on I'm also casting Living Bomb and I have Raging Spirits spirit buff
It doesn't make a lot of spirits at the rate I'm going because most things die before needing more than 1 bomb
I went Infernalist for this and I'm planning on the +50% Fire dmg to my prescence, to buff the warriors, the constructs, and the raging spirits
Final nodes will be the defensive one with the dmg type redirects and loyal hellhound since I'm already scaling minion life to get more boom out of the warriors
The most obvious question I have at the moment is, what can I spend all these fire remnants on?
I could toss Fireballs I guess?
Is there anything better than that I could be doing?

It isn't a regular skill, it requires Spirit to maintain and you get your first chance at it in Freythorn in act 1

Theorycrafting a chaos twister build using Spire of Ire. The skill it comes with, chaotic surge, specifically states I cant consume charges, but I assume thats after I use it. If thats the case, could I not use Barrage THEN Chaotic Surge, as the charges were consumed before usage?

Anyone know if i have armor break nodes on swap 1, apply armor break which also applies to fire (via molten one’s gift) then on swap 2 hit with sunder does sundering armor also apply to fire, since the applied armor break does?
Sundered armor’s description clearly states that unless otherwise states, armor break modifiers affect sundered armor as well. I’m just unsure because when sundered armor is applied i don’t have molten one’s gift allocated 🤔

So does fully broken armor. But molten one’s gift says “fully broken armor effects also apply to fire damage taken from hits” and sunder states very clearly (for some reason i assume) that unless otherwise stated fully broken armor modifiers affect it as well.
Which led me to believe that it would receive a similar modifier that would read “sunder effects also apply to fire damage taken from hits”

well the sunder skill does specifically state that sundered armour causes 20% additional physical damage taken and since thats the case I would assume that armour break also works for fire would not work in this case
high velocity rounds on the other hand might work

It’s confusing because the verbage for armour break is the same, but it is applied to fire damage.

Not sure how i could test it in game, seeing how there’s so much shit going on on screen and not much to actually indicate whether or not the effect is being applied to fire damage
also call me crazy but I think riven armour from high velocity rounds is stronger than sundered armour
friend of mine was running it and we couldnt see the difference in damage between riven and sundered

they also fixed a bug where xbow would fail a reload on weapon swap
Unless you have something that makes your chaos damage contribute to ignite magnitude (like blackflame covenant or the infernalist node), the chaos cannot ignite

If you can't find another support with its same text, it's been removed. Several supports were removed

Not all builds can screen clear at the same rate. And if you can, you likely pay for it elsewhere in the form of single target dps and/or survivability. My cold spell chrono was clearing screens as early as act 2, but I paid for it with lousy single target and (as I unfortunately learned later) tankiness
on a side note for a minion build does everyone go infernalist or can I go another ascendancy with same effectiveness?
Infernalist gets to scale up their spirit, I think that's the main draw
prism shield does the same without reserving life

Warbringer, titan, lich, chrono, tactician, and gemling are all solid minion options

And tactician can give allies 25% of their weapon damage as base damage
Gemling can get +2 to level of minions
its only 20% presence aoe and no life regen
Titan has boosted small nodes and minion clusters LOVE their small nodes
