Thoughts on ways to make use of Elemental Invocation on Monk? Initially slapped in Ball Lightning and Lightning Warp (in that order) because it's funny.
Shattering blow works, but so does the devastate Support Gem
Probably better than poison yeah, as the corrosion is relative to the damage dealt which is a different scaling mechanism.
Where the stun is proportional to physical damage dealt, which you're already stacking if you intend to break armour
Resonating shield strips flat armour, its great against targets with low armour, terrible against targets with large armour.
is 650% rarity drop rate good?
For a rarity cull aura bot, decent.
For total rarity in a map, very good,

So I know grenade shotguns work, and I know Sunder Shotguns work.
I've also confirmed that poison gas arrow clouds and poisonburst arrow explosions shotgun. <Snipe does too, but if they're close enough to shotgun with snipe I'm using it wrong IMO>
Molten Blast secondary projectiles also seem to work.
The extra arrow modifier from bows doesn't actually add to the number of projectiles fired for some reason in the skill tab, either- is it possible that unlike scattershot all extra-arrow projectiles from bows automatically shotgun?

can you clarify exactly what you're asking and I can give you an answer?
Bows with "Fire (an) extra arrow(s)" modifiers don't show those extra projectiles on the skill readout. (Unlike, for example, scattershot support gem)
Does that mean those are 'separate' projectiles and can hit the same target, i.e 'shotgun' effect?
I'm setup for a poison build with a bunch of explosion effects so I can't test practically without making a new character first
no, that's just a display bug (which I'll go fix now). they are no different to additional projectiles from other sources

the mechanic clarity was what I needed to know, might've switched off of explosions for direct hit damage

if you have 2 weapon set check if it has check mark on right weapon set. With this little information it's not easy to say what is the issue

im running a evoker tempest flurry stat stacker
and cast on shock just dont cast eye of winter on bosses
if u see this icon under boss names then your character should shock if not then there is some other issue
I'm using Cast on Minion Death lvl21 and 3 skills inside there are lvl11
I always just in case click on the skills I have placed inside it and look if all them have check mark clicked. One time on skill didn't have it and I was thinking what might be the issue then I saw I miss that click.
You can also check if you kill an Enemy does your Cast on Shock gain Energy % to trigger these skills

If anybody could find a way to synergize both iron grip and iron will please let me know. I spent 3 hours on pob and poe2db trying to come up with something and as it stands it's pretty dead. I thought elemental expression may work okay but its melee. Or is there any way to scale a dot with spell damage? While also benefitting from the initial hit of a projectile attack?
600 str would give 300% spell and projectile attack damage. I also found out that circular teachings removes the bonuses from iron grip and iron will so that ideas gone.
I haven't used quarterstaff at all yet perhaps there's a skill that could utilize projectile attack damage and spell damage I'm not sure

hello everyone, might be there is one who have understanding how cast on shock works? i'm trying to get how it works. For example - i'm applying shock on 1 mob, COS gets meta energy. When new meta energy adds to COS - only when shock expired and re-applyied or it can be re-applyied without expiration of shock?
also there is lightgning warp with shock ground, i've mentioned that it poorly build up meta energy
i have idea about the build relied on meta energy, i know about cast on ignite loop tech but it prevents to use shock status

Hey bud,
Electrocute and Freeze have internal cooldowns that prevent them from being applied to the same units multiple times,
Ignite, Shock and Chill, do not. They caqn be triggered on the same enemy multiple times, and will refresh their base duration each time.
This is why we use Cast on Shock/Ignite for bosses, can Cast on Freeze for mapping,
Because the energy generation of cast on Freeze is much higher per instance than either shock or ignite, allowing it to function better against multiple enemies. However, when facing a single large target, Cast on Shock/Ignite triggers way more frequently, and thus generate consistently high energy.
Just be wary:
The ability inside of the meta gem, cannot generate meta energy for itself.
If you put ball lightning inside of cast on shock, it will not generate energy to cause an infinite loop on its own.
Gemling has an ascendency to double the inherent bonus of attributes,
Combining this with Pillar of the Caged God, Astramantis, Hand of Wisdom and Action, and Falcon Technique + Falcon Dive, lets you achieve incredibly high attackrates with relatively large flat damage per hit, in a very large area.
Budget version would thus not use magic jewels with corruptions on them that grant attributes, along with an Adorned Diamond.
Nor would it use Astramantis for 100+ to all attributes.
But It might still use breach rings with multiple attributes on them and Ingenuity Utility belt, along with a good amount of attributes on its gear, and the Polymathy and Spaghettification Notable Passive Talent tree nodes.
Since all of these things are very popular and effective, none of them are really very affordable right now though.
More importantly, the point at which the build overtakes a different variant that doesnt rely on stacking attributes, is usually pretty expensive by comparison.
You could achieve relatively similar effective dps, as a budget stat stacker build, with a Horizon fullcrit build instead, still utilizing similar mechanics, but focussing on utilizing efficient modifiers rather than overwhelming attributes, at a fraction of the cost

no, when says "damage" it means specifically only the damage roll.
other stuff like crit, accuracy, etc. will not be affected unless otherwise specified.

if your modifier grants you endurance charges, resonance causes you to gain frenzy charges instead, and you expend those frenzy charges, thrilling chase will still work.
but what if i already generate frenzy charges and its then getting converted to power charges

How do people generally compare defensive options? I have a Stormweaver Sparc with MoM & EB that I have set up two ways in POB. With Everlasting Glaze (left side) with has a passive tree tailored for a balancing building ES building & damage, or the right side, which ditches Everlasting Glaze for an Amulet with +2 spell levels & enough +attrib to put on a Morior Invictus/Mahuxotl and replace all the ES building passive tree with damage. Having a hard time comparing 3700 ES/0 EV/0 Arm vs 0 ES/22% Arm/25% block but with a beastly 25k more damage.
Besides mana remnants is there another way to get mana overflow?

I know that it was fixed and attached skills cant generate. Electrocute and shock works different and electrocute doesn’t apply cos energy. Also im aware about meta energy rate (rare/uniques generates more energy than normal mob). Also i’ve tested - even lightning warp doesnt work with lightning bolt if you put it into meta skills.
So if i right understood- every shock applied generates energy even it was applied on mob. But what about node “shock can be reapplied?” does it generates more energy?
im creating build related to meta energy skills and trying to count it up. now im using cast on minion death and thinking to swap to some lightning build for testing purposes
Mathematically it would make sense that conductivity is applied first then the game checks to see if the enemy resistance is negative or not

it is certainly not damage over time so it must be hit damage
Ahh, okay I thought the phrasing "take X damage" is fundamentally different than Hit, just like using a flask with prefix that "removes" 15% of the other resource, costs like blood magic, and then there is the keyword Sacrifice as well for some reason
oh those are losing life and dont even count as damage
but when it says you are taking damage that is a hit (unless its a dot)
Ohh the damage/losing distinction is familiar to me and does make sense
I guess the right way of thinking is that Taking damage is just like any Hit, but it doesn't have anyone that inflicts that hit: it bypasses all the offensive calculations and goes straight to receiving damage.
Which makes me think that anything that makes me Take damage would not benefit from ailment magnitude, because it's the heartbound loop or Coat of Red that causes the damage to happen
But all this is easy to test (if/when I care) so not much point speculating
Idea would be of course to benefit as much as possible from slow/chill magnitude for Sierran's Inheritance

Yo, I made a build around Hateforge gloves. The idea is that I have 20 max rage and 20 rage gain on melee hit. So I get 3 random charges every attack. That's the plan. Now I tested it and sometimes I get charges but most of the time I'm stuck at 20 Rage (my max) and they don't get converted to charges, neutering the whole idea. Any idea what's going on?

if you combine with trial carries you should be able to make a decent profit
Just bought a new amulet, I checked it Vs my old one on my POB but the in game Vs POB wasn't the same. Is this a bug or maybe something I'm missing?

Are you possibly swapping weapons during combat and not on the correct setup to gain rage when you try to trigger?
I think it's a bug. I tried to reduce any variables like that to the minimum and the issue still persists. There's a few bug reports about the same issue on the forums,

yeah but weapon swap would mean i'd still be reserving 100 spirit per totem with ancestral bond instead of 50.
Even if switching it over retroactively reduced the cost when I hit 3 and switched over to the quarterstaff to cast the 4th they'd cost 100 each again and I'd never get the 4th out.

Not a bad idea to maximize totems that way though.
I mean dark effigy looks like it slots pretty nice with ranger vines but that seems like a lot of extra work when I can just instantly melt things by adding a poison cloud to them 😄
we'll see what the templar class looks like when it comes out, I sort of expect them to have some totems too (i'm probably wrong), but they're in the right section of the wheel to run straight for ancestral bond so i'm hoping.
although I guess I should say when the new weapons come out...

Well I was only thinking gemling to fuel mace totem damage (mace totem base damage scales with user str) in the absence of dual-wielded 2-handers for +14 to melee skills.
Since those totems don't work with a quarterstaff (duh moment, I know 😄 ) it'd probably be easier to just start up natively as a witch, run infernalist, and really go ham stacking spirit with that quarterstaff, right?
Go all out, get a regalia with attributes and spirit per soul core, slap 5 spirit cores in it, that way you can keep your mana boost and get better defences than Vestments. End up with like 450/500 spirit, skip the heralds, and grab the minion reservation boots. >.>
pay like 6 spirit per sniper and get 8 totems out there with them.
Mind you that regalia with those cores probably costs about the same as levelling a stat-gemling, so... 😄

I am currently going mercenary and almost into act 3, I want to stabilize what type of build I'm going before I go any further because I've heard that it's really expensive to switch after act 3.
I am looking into Explosive Shot build with herald of lightning, etc.
Or I go into galvanic shards + shockburst build.
Both of these require witch Hunter.
I've heard many great things about both of these builds but I can't decide. I just want the best one for clearing endgame maps and bosses.

galvanic + shockburst is best imo
though you dont actually need witchhunter at all
gemling legionnaire is better at deep endgame
but witchhunter is still a completely fine choice if you dont plan on investing a ton of currency into a stat stacking charcter

Baseline shock is a 20% damage increase. Increasing magnitude of shock by 100% changes this to 40% more damage, and so on.
yes i know this. what I wasnt sure is if shock is applied before or after damage calculation of the lightning damage that proc'd it

its a damage taken modifier on the enemy, so strictly saying its an increase is a half truth
that would imply (without context at least) that its additive with player % increases, but its not
its a third layer outside of more and increases, that effectively acts as both in the sense that its applied after other calculations, but is additive with other sources of enemy damage taken
Can anyone tell me how well armour explosion / devastate still works on stampede or if i'm better off with flat damage, like martial temp / heft etc
it still works pretty well when scaling aoe to a good degree
herald of ice and polcirkeln works better, but is likely to be nerfed with a nuke in the next patch

hello, what build will be nice to play on 4.04.2025 on new league? i used to play ice strike monk, ranger and now i wonder what will be optimal build with this new spear class?
We can't really know what is optimal with Spears or Huntress, we've not seen the ascendancies, all the skills, or what kinds of balance changes are happening to the rest of the game, nor what content may be added. Your best bet is to wait until the livestream and patch notes that should come out on the 27th, then people will be better able to theorycraft builds or confirm whether current ones are still viable.

Any tips on reviving a basically bricked noob witch build? I was running fireball/icewall which was doing ok but it lagged out my game so often and so much that I would die (and my pc is pretty decent so I found that weird). I tried respeccing to detonate minion build after a few nice players donated a bunch of gear. I bankrupted myself respeccing and now I have basically zero dps, old gear, and gold. Is it time to just start a new character? Thanks all.

The best build I think right now for witch is a crit blasphemy hex blast build (chaos, crit damage, blood mage)
I’ll keep that in mind if I can get my gold back up to respec and maybe find some gear for that. I think I’m gonna try a monk or a ranger until the new character comes out and leave the broken witch alone for now

i was initially planning on just using it for levelling but i've taken a liking to frozen things exploding
i dont see why not, shaper of storms node will help with proccing herald chains i guess
it wont be as strong as gemling or invoker but you can make it work
keep in mind your damage wont be from spells and you wont be scaling your spells much so stuff like arcane surge / elemental storm wont be as useful
you could also just level a gemling if you want to play that
it can be pretty fast with trial carries, leveling carries and/or leveling gear

I was researching Abt the witch class and I am currently in act 2 doing a minion build. However, the more I researched, I see these builds that don't require minions and they actually look fun.
Before I hit my ascendancy, I just wanted to know if there are any really good blood mage starter to endgame builds.

I don't mind about the budget, I'm okay with grinding late game, I just want a really fun blood mage build.

well, yeah, that's why I don't have an energy shield... but now I think I should have gone energy shield and taken that 1 node and wouldn't need a single evasion at all
normally evasion cant evade all attacks, stuff like aoe attacks cannot be dodged through evasion. acrobatics guts your evasion rating but in return makes your evasion able to dodge these attacks
its only good if you're fully speccing into evasion though, otherwise the trade-off is typically considered to be too much

Gotchu, nothing wrong with full es really I’ve done all three ways (full evasion, full es and hybrid between the two) I find the hybrid better if you got the currency to get a great chest and helmet
Some hits cannot be evaded or blocked, mostly have sound indicators to alert the player and use the dodge roll. With Acrobatics, those hits can be evaded as well, but you require tripled or quadrupled evasion rating to cap 95% evasion.

well, a couple of things
I think I got rid of a jewel that had "shock" on it, because with my build even though I do a LOT of lightning, I freeze instead of shocking
and I simply also put a LOT more intelligence into str and dex

the only good nodes you're getting off it are pure power and drenched (lightning quick doesnt do that much bc its inc dmg)
combined pure power and drenched are basically the same as one allocated node through mega / amulet, like spag / pure chaos / wild storm, etc.

Well, i didnt follow a guide or anything when i made my pillar build, so i ended up with a variant that is mono lightning

usually you just get some cold on rings or smth
My rings give me even more lightning damage + attributes
And some resistances
For helmet i was running a standard helmet with a big amount of ES for the longest time to maximise the effect of subterfuge mask, but swapped it for a black sun wrapped helmet for those juicy +15% attributes
i personally run the ice build straight up

The number is the random seed that determines exactly how it affects the notable passives in the radius.
So, if all you need is the keystone from the Timeless Jewel, all you need is the name.

depends on build and too much variation of other stuff to assume a general minimum, rather than focus on that learn the game mechs because its not just damage
knowledge of your skills and mechs makes your build be viable depending on what content you want to run

Ingame I don't know any function for that Pob on some sides could give you that for % inc es from tree

You can inflate tooltip damage with attack speed and crit but your damage is not just that as example

Depends on what skill and what build you want
From what I read poison dmg comes from phy and chaos but with these gloves all hits contribute so you want other items to increase chance to poison on hit and u want more dps vs less / speed.
poison builds are always a toss up between whether you want more poison stacks but hit for less per stack (snakebite), or less poison stacks but each stack hits harder (plaguefingers)
with snakebite you'd only get benefits out of phys and chaos, but with plaguefingers you now also scale off elemental damage, so its ceiling is higher
big hits
poison damage scales off your phys and chaos damage
so bigger hits will result in bigger poisons

yes, unless the enemy has a chance to avoid bleeding from a monster/area mod

I'm having a lot of fun with my build as it were, I really like the playstyle of it and it seems to be doing well this far but I'm only part way through act 2. At what point does it become evident that a build is not going be viable? I have a pob build plan, I should get ehp to over 8k, dps of 23k+, but I'm worried that this build I'm really enjoying is just going to fall off and die
For now only 3-4 builds are in meta. Sparks, attribute stacker, lightning deadeye, inferalist. Other is medicore, what build do you play?
I'm not trying to be meta thankfully as my build will never 😅 it's a necromonk build, I use chaos spells, zombies and the skeletal constructs. I know how ineffective it'll be eventually, but I'm really enjoying the playstyle and atm it shreds
Happy that you enjoying because it’s only matter. so you are playing infernalist minion playstyle but with sort of chaos damage. It’s pretty viable, but arbiter and t4 pinnacle bosses will be hard for you.
but i have solution for you ice wall with trampletoe. Still it’s not fixed so you can take it for bossing

poison is pretty bad in game, because it’s not chaos damage actualy. It’s chaos but dot is not getting bonuses from chaos nodes

oh, i’ve played before on pathfinder with armor blow, there is good node to blow when enemy has broken armor status and then you can use it to increase your damage with taking this status off

so question is how to delete shock status. Also lightning warp doesn't work with cast on shock at all

question, for quarterstaffs is there any real diffrence between them? ik some get bonus range and or other perks but aside from that most appear to look the same?

Check out craft of exile 2 for prefix and suffixes.
If you’re going ice strike you get 60% of physical-so I would look for #%increased physical damage, adds # physical damage, and %increased elemental damage for prefixes. Suffixes: attack speed, crit chance, crit bonus
I would identify any you find, see what modifiers are prefixes or suffixes, specifically for the item level of the staff you have and whether it’s worth trying to add exalts to it or keep on moving.
So if you find a good base with 2 undesirable prefixes then don’t waste time on it

And where’s here the logic? How you can gain energy from dead target? Lightning conduit in meta, yes i can use manually but it pointless due to cast time. Also I didn’t found any good spells to apply shock.

Are the ranger ice skills somehow viable ?
i am having some fundamental misunderstandings regarding ailments, specifically bleed/poison... for example: bleed/poison chance adds up together, but ailment chance does not seem increase or add to their chances despite the fact that POE2 POB shows these mods as "ailment modifiers" under the specific bleed/poison chance blocks. Further, putting on the item atsak's sight (crit hits poison) with 100% crit strike chance (snipe) does not show a 100% chance to poison, as it should. Does anyone know whats going on?
The current info on Spear skills is rather old, and likely doesn't reflect what we'll see in the announcement or once we get to play with the weapon - I'm pretty sure that every skill shown in that teaser hadn't been seen before, so that's already 3 we know nothing about.
We also don't have full info on the ascendancies, so any Huntress builds - which don't necessarily have to use the Spear, so they're a whole other thing - can't really be developed either.
Anyway, there'd be no point theorycrafting with that info anyway, since we're getting the patch notes in 3 days.

You gain energy when shock applied, not when it expires
second time when you get new energy - when you re apply shock on non shocked target
Any comet builds, any spark builds, any frostwall+trampletoe builds
frost wall+ trampletoe litteraly oneshots any pinnacle bosses and makes game boring
hope ggg fix that soon, but this tech exists since ea launch and there is no any fixes. I suppose standard league will have that bug even after 0.2.0 launch
No, proper content updates like 0.2 is specifically for major balance changes, that's exactly the time to expect any kind of nerfing overtuned interactions.

That's not how that works. Changes to the core game affect Standard and league, only temporary league mechanics are exclusive to the league.
Old uniques will indeed remain the same, but if they change the base interaction, it will affect everyone.

Either way, most people in PoE1 play in the new leagues exclusively, so I wouldn't be surprised if that carries over into PoE2 as well. In that event, it won't really matter what old items lie around in Standard, since there won't be any way to get them in the same state in the new league.

no i mean how they both spread the most damaging poison. it wouldnt increase dmg or range. so I guess the point of the acension is to free up spirit.

you should understand that plague is not poison but chaos damage and it doesnt stack with poison nodes
so herald of plague is quite gimmick

Lightning conduit can hit pretty hard with the right set up, have to run storm weaver with the Strike Twice asc. node to apply two shocks to enemies

@sour python armour explosion scaling is just cheeks it really sucks
You'd use 2 support gems just for the poison to trigger armohr explosion
That do nothing for the damage itself
chaining explosions go brr. and i use forking poison burst arrows to consume the broken armor so they keep exploding
