but yeah early on warrior just gets hit a lot due to delayed damage output
it's not any weaker than other classes from a defensive stat perspective early on in campaign, but it's effectively weaker defensively due to having a harder time applying its damage output frequently enough to avoid enemies reaching the warrior

I think that's chaos damage, but I'm not certain. Resistances matter a lot more than armor for most things
just realized it was extra 2 projectiles mod that got me
i have never played a melee in this game to maps but i imagine that boss is a nightmare for melee

unless you have like 8k hp maybe
drop the dual wield and put on a shield
its the trade off to stay alive
you can also use a skill to use shield then another to go back to dual wield real fast. I played totems in hcssf where i put totems out duel wield then i did resonating shield to go back to shield and get 100% block while channeling
does it snapshot totems with melee skills?
i died to mortar, its unblockable as far as i know
they do the damage based on what weapon you set them with

yes, you just set your totems to dual wield weapons and use a skill that pulls your shield out like shield charge or something
like 90% of the stuff is fine, they just die before they do anything

anyone can recommend a good atlas tree? ive been focusing mostly and monsters packs, waystones drops, and similar stuff. i wonder if u should focus a little bit more on waystones modifiers and similar
its not that i dont know evasion and block is good, its hard to fit those things into a build that is already bit stretched

If you're around the bottom left of the tree you are balanced to where you have to choose between damage and defense and have to actually use your tools to stay alive and do damage. You cant just get es and mana and press spark and win

i never had that high of totem level to need to go blood magic so i solved mana differently and didnt spend all of those points to the top left.

i think you can probably solve mana a different way and drop a bunch of regen and go block
thats what i would do but i play hc. maybe sc mindset regen is enough. its just not that useful if youre getting hit by a lot of attacks with no avoidance
the thing with armour is, its the only thing close to warrior
ya i know, i ripped 3x on titan going armour. im life/es spell caster now.
with 75 block
block i can get, 7 poiints will give me max block 50% mitigation

i would go for the wheel that gives 1% damage per block
if you can block cap with that wheel alone. if not there are 2 points by start you can grab
also make sure you get a shield with high base block

I dont think its worth in hc to run it atm since there is no good block recovery mechanic outside of surrender. Unless that is the shield you're using

i mean it caps your block chance, but you get half of the damage on successful block

you dont have to active block as long as the shield is out

health recovery. Surrender is an easy solution if youre using the shield just to get block

Thats pretty rough to do in the current state of the game just based on ways damage scales and gem availability. Invoker Monk with a Cast on set up could give more of that feel for sure
i play a one button invoker with storm wave and triple heralds using the echoing tree
so not really any actual melee i guess, but its cool nonetheless

you dont actually have to use any specific weapon in POE2.
any class can use any weapon.
monk has the easiest access to the quarterstaff tree and the optimal way is to play monk with one equipped
that being said, you can play monk with zero melee skills or only melee skills
i should say optimal way so far
monk is the current hybrid of melee and "magic"
you can play the class with any weapon but quarterstaff is recommended
all of your skills will likely be quarterstaff skills, some are ranged some are melee
in melee range the skills you use depend on your specific build

the real question is "why should i not take X class and use X weapon"
The skill tree incentivizes specific weapons for specific classes by proximity. Meaning if a class is closer to a specific weapon's skill tree nodes its probably best to use that weapon. if your build doesn't take those nodes then youll want to find the best weapon that can hold the affixes you need while also fitting within the attributes of your build

@marsh bluff i will say if you are completely brand new you want to start by watching a youtube guide on a build, or something of that sort because idk about the other folks here but it took me about 10 years to actually understand the ins and outs of a build

if im CI with 5700 es, i have 1 to all max res and 1 to max lightning, woudl i benefit more from an iron rune or another max res core?
this is hard to know without your skill tree and what not but more max res is probably going to reduce damage more than 56 more es on your helm is my guess
now that you can actually resocket runes, why not try both to see the overall impact on stats?
im playing spark , i assume the max res woudl be a bit more useful, because i havnt ev en started mapping yet ijust finished the campaign finally, i am 1 node from i can take it at any level but not sure if i even should or if that changes anything

lets say you can already survive a hit thats about 5k damage right, how much more will ES benefit you vs your increased res?
1% of a 6k hit can reduce an extra 60 damage, the extra 56 ES can become about 60+ with this node. its very close
illuminated crown probably does nothing if you're EB though lol
id say the res is better than the shield though

kinda stuckw ith the gear i have now for a while sinc ei just spent all my dough
ES from everlasting gaze occurs after EB
the conversions happen in a different order in poe2 so it works just put it on
basically, people take MoM, CI, and EB, then they put on everlasting gaze and now their base ES is 30% of their maximum mana. then then take increased ES sources on passive tree to boost that ES amount.
you end up 5k+ ES and 4k+ mana which is roughly 9k "hit points"

and you want ES base types for your gear with good increased ES prefixes
since the ES amounts on your gear get converted to mana
well wish i knew that lol
so like a 900 ES body armour is just 900 more mana and then that mana would get increased by sources of increased maximum mana

make your main skill only weapon set 2

i tried with raise shield but when you swap back again from shield, itll still try to cast totem with shield
eventho it was previously set up on set 1, it then tries to do it on set 2

You're going to have to give us the full information about what weapon types you're using in each weapon set and which skills you're trying to use in each
It sounds like you have a shield in one of your weapon sets, but not another
And you're trying to raise shield with the shield setup
And then trying to switch back to the non-shield setup to use a totem
Why does it feels like stormweaver spark and ice/lightning invoker are the only builds out there
two onehanded maaces for casting totem, swapped to shield and empty hand atm after
theen trying to hit totem skill on set 1 again, but it wont go back to 1
even if i drag it from set one to hotbar

So you're trying to cast a totem with the two 1H weapon setup and then go back to your unarmed + shield setup

so totems, then hit raise shield, when need new totems, click mace attack, cast totems
You just make the skills you want to cast with weapon set 1 only checked to weapon set 1
and the skills you want to cast with weapon set 2 only checked to weapon set 2
if this does not work then i dont know what is going wrong
i thought you can skip mace attack to go back set 1
simply by directly casting totems WITH set 1
If a skill is checked to only be used with weapon set 1 then the game will switch to weapon set 1 prior to using it

each level accounts for minor stat adjustments as well so it is not insignificant

You get can 99 Skill Points +24 from campaign. Thats 123. You have 112 - that means you are 11 points off from level 100, which means you are level 89.
both are important for the goal of POB, to find accurate data on your character

So you EITHER have 113 points - and you missed one. Or you arent level 90

can anyone explain why when i swap weapons between different energy shield levels (1200 vs 6500 for example), my energy shield goes down to the lower level at 1200 but doesn't go back up to higher level at 6500 when i swap back...i watched a video guide & his goes back no problem

for using pob now id suggest focusing on the lower range than the higherrange - if youre talking about X to X mods

for any item you copy paste you have to pick up the item out of ur tree/equipment and put it in inventory

Well Galvanic has felt fine on like 60% poison chance or whatever it's at. It hits so much that it doesn't matter if one single hit doesn't poison. Whereas Explosive Shot was feeling a little inconsistent

If it's in red, it means it's not working/doing anything, if it's blue then it means POB is accounting for it
should specifiy that its only inaccurate if you dont account for ailments and the bell itself, i got very close using ailment configs buut i dont use bell at all and was still 3k off

the in game tooltip says 20k, in my path of building, with all the right circumstances, it says it gets up to 100k

Oh nvm, it's Deep Cuts Support that isn't working, I think? It should be affecting the magnitude effect there right? Putting it on or custom -25% dmg with hits is the same result in damage.

Well my build one shots any pack but tickles bosses the difference is that idc that a boss takes a while for the trade off, I’m basically invincible defense wise and never have to deal with dying

pob is showing my level as 2 lower than it actually is. 90 vs 92. That should mean I missed a +2 passive somewhere but I've definitely triple checked all of them too. 😡

Oh @thorny token, my Plasma Blast having higher poison DPS with the explosion than the projectile is because it's treating the explosion as having as really fast attack time, while the proj has the +2s attack time built into the skill. So it thinks I'm getting a higher poison roll with the explosion

when dual wielding, the damage of the weapons is combined for the final damage, but are they still considered separate weapons for calculations based on the weapon? E.g. using a frostbreath along with a high dps 1h, will the total damage contribute to freeze buildup, or only the portion that the frostbreath does?
im using extraction in dark effigy but it doesnt seem to drain my life at all. To pop the totem down or for the totem to cast vile effusion, tooltip damage went up so im confused
