my herald of thunder is basically always active but i cant seem to get herald of ice to activate even when consistnetly freezing enemies
i think its just not as noticeable as herald of thunder, when u kill a frozen enemy there is a small explosion, try with it on/off see if you notice a difference
if you cleared it, it should be unlocked now. when you go to a waypoint look on the far side by the trial of chaos icon and u should have a new one for hideout
I'm not there yet but I won't try to remove gaze until I find an amulet that bring me to 7k + max mana

no it's a possible modifier from amulets. %increased max mana. there is also a unique ring that gives %increased max mana, idk if it's worth it

all amulets with mana % are stuck on 12%, which is not that much
there is ONE amulet on whole market with 24%, super lucky corrupt, but its 50divs xD
yea but even consider it's 12% max mana vs gaze which is at most 30% mana has shield so it's not much worst and it increases dps. + the other potential modifiers can make it a lot better

Hey, how does ingenuity belt interact with conversion rings that convert a certain damage to another element/chaos damage, does it gain any boost in DPS or better to use a different belt ?

Why would you stack, Bonestorm doesnt scale off how many you have like some Monk skills
if it's just convert, conversion above 100% will be scaled down to 100%.

@daring bobcat still trying to figure out widowhail, i got another one with 250%. so 250 * 0.8 + 250 = 450, however my quiver has 27 dex, and when equipped it gives 116 dex. it appears the actual bonus is 429%

you just add 250% from widowhail and 80% from the tree together

Okay guys, i think i am past initial farm, got a few items, got my mana to 3800, spark DPS to 80k.
I am clearing maps so fast i dont even slow down, only dying on bosses from time to time.
What is the next progress step? I never played POE before, so i dont know.
Do i just do maps with T15 (and ocasional T16) waystones over and over, or is there something more lucrative?

i guess "bonus is 430%" is the wrong way to phrase it
given that bonus describes the extra amount, so it would just be 330%
but the calculation is all sound
you're applying the 80% bonus from the tree to the bonus from the bow, instead of adding it as it affects the quiver. this would be correct if the tree said increased effect of bonuses from your bow, not quiver.

How does distance work? If I shoot a lightning arrow at frozen enemy from 7m away, which then causes my Herald of Ice that's supported with Longshot to explode (attack) with it's effect another enemy. Does the Herald of Ice benefit from the Longshot?

We call those affixes (prefix or suffix) or sometimes modifiers.

so for the maul that says This Weapon's Critical Hit Chance is 100%, does that mean that any damage you do while wielding the weapon is a guaranteed crit? or is it just skills that require a maul that get that bonus?

As a new player, how is it that people come up with cool and interesting builds? I'm really puzzled about how to manage that in this game.

It feels like the game hides a lot of info from me, so its hard to "know what I dont know" if that makes sense

Remember that heralds dont scale with the +3 proj skills - and they do weapon dmg. So while your LA is getting +3 to offset some of the low dmg of the bow - your heralds arent.

Are there any interactions I'm missing, wasting, etc...in my supports? The build basically just chain explosion/freezes 2 screens once Herald of Thunder and Ice proc together.

Should I look for max DPS or Physical DPS?
You convert dmg - and then the dmg scales with the final dmg type. So you choose to convert becauase you want to do that dmg type and have found a good way to scale it or utilize it.
Only increases to the final dmg type impact your skills.

DPS is irrelevant when comparing 2 different builds. There are more scaling vectors than the skill based dps.

Click where it says Gale Force. Mine at level 15 does 98% weapon dmg. That is why Wind Dancer when it pops can proc things like Blind or Maim (or Cull) - because it does a HIT.
Link a planner if you want people to disect every aspect of your build and set up - just 100x easier
Don't super need all that, my passive tree and gear is all pretty optimized following some different guides and feedback, just trying to see support gems mainly now
Those guides should have the set ups - as they will take into account other variations to the tree and gearing
Like all of those supports are good - but knowing if one of them could be swapped for A, B, C isnt really feasible without the rest of the puzzle at the stage you're at
Nah because the guides and people I'm discussing with are mostly using different set ups for their actual skills but the gear/stats/passive tree I use is the same as them so it's hard to get feedback for some of my skill choices
like they're POTCG but they don't use ice strike or the heralds, they use tempest flurry and blink or cast on crit and stuff
haven't found anyone using quite the set up I am with heralds and charged staff, that I can directly get feedback from
right - which is where a planner solves that issue. You are at the point where the answer is no longer general - its more specific to your actual gearing/setup. Truly not trying to give you a hard time - but we are in territory where you are already chain destorying multiple screen - so fine tuning means knowing the variables we can tune.
Fair I get your point there's just not much in the passive/gear to mess with, it's typical POTCG melee stat stacker build

depends on what build you are playing and the offensive and defensive layers. Typically Life / Resistance - enough attributes to use your skills. Rarity and damage mods.
If you are playing CI - forego life, and get more ES on pieces you can.
Your charged staff should be doing enough lightning dmg that I dont think you need Lightning infusion on your Ice Strike. Would move that to Herald of Ice and get rid of Ele focus - so you get even more herald proccing going on

lightning infusion on ice strike is just because it's the biggest dmg increase I can find from support gem due to....
5th link for ice strike I would probably put the close range boost one? Not entirely sure yet

if you're lightning you want phys % and flat phys and lightning flat but flat fire isn't terrible
phys gets converted to lightning and lightning is lightning, a huge flat fire/cold isn't bad it just won't get as boosted as lightning would
but you also add in having chance to ignite/freeze etc...which you have to have from 1 slot for certain builds
like for my current POTCG I need some way to do fire dmg for igniting the bells, so I take 1 flat fire on one of my rings

Poison takes a % of the Physical & Chaos dmg of the hit - to generate a poison that does dmg over time. That dmg is Chaos Dmg. But Phys & Chaos portions of the hit contribute to the poison dmg.
Those gloves would be like if you want to use an Elemental skill to poison.

The way Poison and PLague bearer works im not sure you could make it self sustain. Plague Nova does 100% of the stored poison dmg as physical. Then it Poisons - but Poisons only do 20% of the hit dmg as poison. Then Plague Bearer only stores 4% of the poison.
i guess enough monsters around and it could theoretically work
you dont get any plague value back from poison from plague bearer itself. or at least i wasnt getting any when i was trying it

how does recoup function when it comes to damage taken? It's hits only but is it only damage taken to life specifically, or does damage taken to ES also count for recoup effects? or mana if using mind over matter?
Recoup is a stat that causes your character to recover damage taken (or prevented) from a hit as life, mana, or energy shield over a duration.
should I even worry about my item stats at like level 30?
The damaging hit will proc recoup regardless of which bucket it hits - but it will only recoup the specific resources the recoup states.

Knowledge is power in POE - understanding how to value items is hugely important. The guide posted should do a good job of getting you the basics
How to get leech?
Virtually all of the leech is Physical Attack Dmg leech. Rings/Gloves/Supports/Weapon
Some uniques as well, and then Blood Mage ascendancy gives spell leech.
Leech recovers an amount of life, mana, or energy shield over time based on hit damage taken by an enemy. Leech is calculated as a percentage of damage the enemy takes from a hit, which is then recovered at that rate over time. Leech stacks last for 1 second by default. that is so fucking weird that it has built in dmg from "its own weapon" but then has attack dmg scaling as part of the skills it uses - youd think leveling it would just scale its "weapon"

As many of you asked question about the last build, i made this simplified veriant. This build require 0 Sheet and 0 Calculation, equipment can be copied or using lower budget from market as long as you cap your resistance and get enough dex. But damage output will be halfed compared to last build.

Honest answer is that we're throwing darts at the wall without a clip, or a picture of your build/equipment/passives at the time it happened at a minimum.
There are ways for you to self-damage that could cause you to die, or get low enough hp that you die to something incidental and don't notice.
Damage is there, but I'm playing chaos dot.
So only real fast damage option for me is to curse/hexblast everything in the room.
Oh well then you need a good shield

in the case of multiple sources of conversion, how is it calculated? I've read that you cannot convert damage granted from gain conversion "adds x% of damage as extra fire" etc, so are these just converted last? If my spell does 500 cold, i have an item that converts 100% of cold to lightning, and then add 10% of damage as extra cold dmg" I would do 500 lightning and 50 cold?

They go to seperate weapon sets when I swap gear sometimes
I respecced 2 points to go to horrors faster but it was crit damage for minions
Might have been associated with some attributes, else I'd toggle off all auras and enable them again, if there's a red exclamation mark hover on it to see the error

Invocations don't automatically trigger, they store up energy until they fill max and then you cast them manually. Unlike Cast-on triggers, invocation triggers can happen repeatedly as long as there's energy left over to fill another trigger.
just putting this here so when people search for it they can find the answer, last gasp will work with minion instability and arsonist skill, but it will not work on detonate dead+sacrifice

you use gold to respec now, and unless you keep respecing your whole build, you prob won't run out of gold
well you're getting 65% incr dmg on the right and 100% incr crit chance, trading off for 30% incr cast speed and 30% gain as extra
unless you have really skewed mods on your tree those will be similar/close

... A warrior who pretends to be a witch, takes ancestral bond, Goes Warbringer, takes ancestral spirits ascendancy skill, socket it with burning legion. Wants 390 spirit for 3 totems + raging spirits + cast on minion death.
Run Raging Spirits with persistence.
Run Cast on Minion Death, socket a dark effigy into it because Totems are not minions, and this totem is a spell with no "casting time" + ember fusilade (.4 second cast time = 40 energy total to trigger
Run a second, unmeta'd dark effigy. Cast 3 times. You'll get 3 spirit minions that burn themselves to death and 3 embers that will fire themselves.
This will produce 3 more dark effigy totems, 3 more totem spirit minions, and 3 raging spirits (who will expire, not die.), and 3 more embers. The totem spirits will burn themselves to death, repeating this process and sustaining your screen covered in dark effigies.
Run essence drain with scatter shot + envenom + bursting plague and spam liberally. Add a contagion here and there, and walk across the map chaos/poison/fire nuking everything that dares to approach you.
Where are you right now on that plan?

Just concepted; the primary problem to working it out is that I don't currently have the stat spread or the spare low level skill and spirit gems to test if I can actually socket dark effigy into cast on minion death.

Nah. I've confirmed that expiration doesn't count as a death, but that's why the ancestral spirits are running burning legion.

The game tooltip explictly specifies that Totems are NOT minions.
Dark effigy is also specifically a Spell, not an attack.
Cast on minion death says "Cannot socket spells which create minions."
I'm obviously biased trying to make this idea work, but all the correct key words are there...

yea theres nothing preventing it in tooltips, i would assume it has something to do with the forcing totems to be only self castable and not mentioning it anywhere

weapon sets use your skill points you have available

So what you do is, as you level through the story, don't even bother touching weapon sets until endgame where you have a build planned around it, because all they do is use the points you have, they don't give "bonus" points
So i cant do the following?
Total points = 60
General points used = 40
Set 1 points used = 20
Set 2 points used = 20
The weapon sets arent bonus points to freely use

You can, but the points in Set 1 and Set 2 must be different
Wait what? Isn't that exactly the idea. They are bonus point if you manage to solve the problem of finding a common trunk for both of the trees
I mean, they aren't added to your total skill point pool
they aren't you gotta allocate your free 20-24 points to them
then you can split them however you want
redeeming the books which grant the skill points, is just giving you 2 skill points with a bonus of being able to assign them in 2 different ways
yeh, so i have allocated 14 points in set 1. so i imagined i can also allocate 14 points in set 2.
Which is useless until end game
Oh right so let's say for example I'm Level 8 and have 10 normal skill points + 20 weapon set points unlocked (for sake of example). I I can't ever use more than 8 of those weapon set points riiight
can allocate them whereever, but only if you have the total skill points available, and the weapon set points available, than on that branch of the passive tree, you cannot allocate non weapon set points down that branch
IDK how I manage to get confused by it still even though I've used weapon set's extensively

The issue here is that you have allocated points for weapon set I even though you might as well have allocated them for both of the sets

I've encountered something weird I'd say, so if i use a curse like temporal chains i can socket encumbrance into it for more slow magnitude
Now if i use blasphemy with temporal chains it says i cant put encumbrance into it, it doesnt show on all allowed gems either but if i throw it in anyway it just works

alright, order doesnt matter, i can even throw it in without a curse that has any kind of slow and im certain it works, i get 5% more slow
Guys, is there anywhere that i can look what changes when increasing the minions level? Im trying to see is is worthy getting the max levels I can get or getting other stats

So my theory is that the intention is that you can put support in before the gem it supports. But the game is angry about that and displays red text. This is valid usage of meta gems though (like @pearl sluice mentioned) so the game still allows that. GGG just forgot to remove that angry red text (or want to remind you that you are doing something weird)

How do gems like Minion Pact: "Supported Skills remove 100% of your maximum Life from a nearby Minion on use to deal 40% more damage." work? They can't just use your final life, otherwise that would be silly with chaos innoculation and other life conversions. Is it like with stuns, that whatever health you have in the end, there's one "real" Max HP stat in the background calculated before any conversions/reservations?
Yeah. Assuming you are not doing physical damage in the end (like by converting that fire back to physical...)
