Herald of ice triggers on frozen enemies and herald of thunder on shocked ones and they can't shock/freeze themselves

What does the text say in each? It's probably just preference/slight DMG difference
frazzled (15% mana regen / 30% shock magnitude), conservation (20% mana regen/ 8% skill mana cost)
does damage modifier happen before, or after the damage buff? (Example: fire damage up + fire to ice gloves = ice damage up?)

What are the best affixes to get on a Rattling Sceptre other than the high +% to Spirit??

this for example is a really good one
IMO it's pretty lame that there are no weapon set specific skill slots similar to how there are 26 specialization points. The further I advance in the game, the more useless the swap mechanic becomes as I'm starving for skill slots.
Though IDK if I should say it's useless. I use it for shield dash + blink. But that's because i don't have to (read can't) stack them auras so heavily yet
Pretty tough to drop 36% lightning resistance for that
Sure, I do get that there needs to be limited slots so there's some actual choices involved, but right now it feels like the devs don't want me to interact with that feature.

Poison magnitude depends on the initial hit dmg, and only stacks twice if not using modifiers so you would want to focus on one skill. There's naturally exceptions if there's synergies with other skills etc.

Exsangunate is one of my favorite skills in poe it's been data mine as a weapon skill so demon form is out what class would be best for a dedicated build around it with chain support it hits 4 targets and chains 6 times thinking blood mage or maybe gelling since there is a lot of bleed at the bottom?
Blood mage explodes its own minions for one of the better builds and it’s an exceptionally clunky ascension

Natural means that it doesn't need explicit trigger, having the correct damage type suffices.
Chill Natural, Buildup: more damage = more magnitude
Freeze Natural, Buildup: towards trigger (identical to stun except each use different thresholds), disables passive block chance
Fire Natural, No buildup, Both the chance of trigger and magnitude scale with damage of the hit, min magnitude = 20% of hit dmg
Shock Natural, No buildup, Only the chance to trigger scales with damage of the hit
Electrocution Unnatural, Buildup: towards trigger, like freeze except electrocution doesn't disable passive block
Bleed Unnatural, No buildup, Physical hit damage scales magnitude only; chance to trigger is independent of damage (converse of shock), bypasses ES, min magnitude = 15% of hit dmg, base duration = 5s

the magnitude nodes on the passive tree are bit overtuned maybe. Or the reset of the stuff is undertuned really
Herald of Ash is meh, and many build do use ice + thunder together

Yeah and I've looked into adding the poison one to my build. Because I'm currently running essentially it's my own take on a gemling quarter staff build.
Because it's strong regardless, but I'd be lying if I said citadel bosses, and really pinnacle bosses don't scare me.
But the only way I have seen to possibly incorporate it is using gems In my passive tree to add poison XD
So, my thought process personally is to use ailments only if your build is using big hits mainly. And go the poison route if using bows since it has more synergy there than ignite and bleed

What’s been really annoying for me on breaches for witch is minions don’t like target the same group of mobs
Curse into hexblast was pretty solid on demon, but it generally had the same issue of feeling just too squishy
So since breaches have mobs coming from all sides instead of all 14 minions shooting the same pool it gets split like 4/4/6 in three different directions murdering my dps

There's one thing though, shocked ground bypasses need to have much lightning damage

There’s a point where it falls of super hard it doesn’t scale linearly
Quant is way more important especially if you already have rarity on your character since that and the map rarity aren’t separately scaled

You can play any class to start mapping as long as you play it like an Ice Strike Monk

try adding pierce to your arcs so each projectile can proc multiple targets

The skill the takes away 20 percent damage for more projectiles took over half my damage from spark
yeah because spark doesnt combine the hits, only 1 projectiles dmg is counted
If spark is set up right don't need arc at all

You can use any weapon on monk, even right now

I'm just guessing, but, the idea of running an "ailment" or "dot" build with a witch where its not just a chaos build, but, where I'm like, specializing specific summons to dot and spread their dots in packs and keep them up on bosses doesn't "seem" viable...
I'm not sure if its just because I'm low level or doing it wrong, but, trying to do:
Skeletal Arsonist -> Fire Infusion + Ignition + Wildfire
Skeletal Frostmage -> Cold Infusion + Glaciation + Deep Freeze (Couldn't find anything that "spreads" cold)
Skeletal Storm Mage -> Lighning Infusion + Conduction + Coursing Current
Throwing up contagion, and figure when I get access, I'll be dropping curses to increase susceptability, and trying to find an integration to add poison too.
That said. Thus far, it seems that just in general the minions ability to build up ailments is pretty weak even with the support gems, and the build just isn't feeling all that viable. Am I just doing something wrong?
Are there any clever strats for applying snipers mark as bow, or is it just gonna be a self-cast thing? Running cast on crit or something just for mark feels a bit heavy.

just a guess, but probably phys if your build converts phys to lightning since that boosted phys is greater then the total lightning you're getting out of it, and most passives and skill gems scale additional lighning damage from your phys not directly off the lightning damage you're already doing.
(Only way I'd go the other direction is if you had something like 80+% elemental damage increase or something, but being as the bonuses are probably additive not multiplicative, probably not even then)

Is there a way of calculating my dps on Ice strike if I switch my HOWA (21 dex, 22 int, dmg penetrates 15% cold res)
To a howa with:
4% AS per 25 dex
1-11 lightning damage or 1-12
But with worse/similar int and dex rolls?
Don't know if this upgrade will actually be worth it

How the damage of Monk's "Tempest Bell" is calculated?
- Assuming the base dmg is 100
- Bell is effected by 3 ailments (cold/fire/lightning)
What is the total dmg?
- Would the more damage multiplier be 1.3*3=1.9 multiplier or 1.3*1.3*1.3=2.197
- What is the total dmg conversion? Will be it 40% phys and 20/20/20% of elements?
as far as i understood its 3x 60% of your phys ie 180% of your phys in total. Its not spreading your damage across each type but giving you damage for each type.

Hey people say above 100% Item rarity solo is a waste. this true? i got 220 item rarity and i can do t15 maps with delirium
its not a waste but high dimishing returns after 100% on gear
(map rarity seems to work differently)
with the mana steal becomes energy shield from monk ascendency - does this only ever work with physical damage, so I can't play a lightning or frost build?

I'm not aware of any formulas we have to determine stun threshold/buildup yet (or even how it falls off), but it's not so much a "how much you need" thing.
I believe we do know that it is based on how much damage you take versus your maximum life though, so most people tend to build larger life pools rather than targeting Stun Threshold specifically.

So your plan for Stun Threshold in that case is "Don't get hit" lol
Like we're inherently going to have lower armor and health pools compared to bigger builds, so stun is just a risk of the class if you decide to take hits. Stay mobile, build evasion, CC enemies, that sort of thing.

item level is not equal to level requirement, but they are quite correlated
and there's nothing much you can do about it
you shouldnt be finding gear way above your level req unless you're trading though
i wanted really high movement speed but im capped at 25 im currently at 15 movement speed on my boots these two seem to be my best options which would be the better pick up

and just filtering for all res is wrong, correct practice is to set up a weighted sum
might be a basic question with filtering, is there a way to filter so that the stats add up to more than 20%? e.g. i want 2 out of attack damage / melee damage / attack speed / quarterstaff damage and i want the sum of the modifiers to be more than 20 percent

I don't think for what you're asking. Only real answer I can come up with is to put two curses into some "cast on <x>" gem (if they support it)

does elemental damage not convert well for monk skills? i thought a 10% increase in elemental causes a 10% increase in dps for skills like ice strike
first thing is if you're not converting all phys damage to elemental it's not gonna be quite 10%, and second is that the 10% increased ele dmg stacks additively with other %increase in dmg
i have a 14% cold dmg/10%elemental dmg/16% crit dmg increase on a jewel and made my skill dps go up by only 10 percent total. given i have about 50 percent crit it means my elemental only converted to like 2 percent?
imagine they make a skill gem thaat adds massive slow to an ability but the ability affects teammates
for example if you have 100% increased attack damage, then 10% increased elemental damage is only 5% more dmg

There's also more that could be at play. You could see a straight 10% increase if it was purely elemental damage and that was your only source of increased damage.
in that case %increase in Attack damage / melee skills / quarterstaff damage would translate better? because it would be flat and = to the % increase roughly
For example, if you already had a 20% increase on a 100 damage attack, your DPS would show as 120 dps.
If you get another 10% increase, you're going from 120 -> 130 which you would only see as a 8.3% increase (since you compared to the previous result, not the base)

So question, how do I get my elemental ailments to actually affect the things I'm fighting?
Because it feels like in tier 14 and 15 maps, it becomes so much less likely for my ailments to affect them. And I tried adding more elemental pin and I thought that would affect it but it doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.
is there a calculator or something to work out definitively which stat would result in more dps increase? couldnt seem to find good resources online

Ailments is a longer talk, but in short: Higher tier things can have more Ailment Threshold, resistances*, or both.
Penetration can help with the resistance issue, but not with the Ailment Threshold issue. They can just naturally take more.
Support gems for affliction chance and iirc higher damage should get them to apply faster? Also not taking maps with increased ailment threshold
yo guys if i have all the mark notables on my weapon set 2, and apply the mark on that weapon, will the effects still stay once i swap weapon? Like if i have the node that gives me 10% dmg against marked enemies will i still do 10% more after weapon swap?

I'm just starting out playing the game right now as witch, but eventually I want to go into infernalist and make a build based around demon form. What should I know ahead of time for that goal?
As somebody who was most excited to play that specific thing when I started out. And it was my first character. I would suggest looking into specifically hexblast builds. So instead of being necessarily a fire demon, you're more or less playing a glass cannon that nukes the screen.
But that's just my opinion from almost 700 hours total.

Iirc infernalist also likes low max hp with high flat hp regen, since demon form drains a percentage per second

I normally don't, but infernalist is one I would highly recommend a build guide for. It's a bit unnatural to build for some.
Not as familiar myself, but I know there are some build requirements like health maintenance and specifically when to take certain ascendancies, otherwise you run the risk of just dying to your own abilities 👍

Yes this, this is actually one of the main points of the hex blast chaos builds. There are rings that remove God what is it I think it's 25 to 30% of your max life for more chaos damage. And then there's another unique chest that converts a percentage of max life to energy shield.

Yes, there are I think 3 to 4 uniques that do that specifically. They are not very expensive I think they're you know one exalted a piece on the market.
And then you pair that with health regen and you can hold the 10 stacks indefinitely pretty easily. But when you remove that threshold and you can go up to the like 75, 100 stacks then it gets more difficult but health region makes it so much more manageable

Plus once you get blasphemy, it turns into literally using two to three buttons. Because you can set up your curses to just be aoe around you. So you can drop dark effigy, which is your totem that attacks anything you curse. And hexblast.

Oh for sure and I think one of the best things about it is Ghostwrithe is a unique you can get pretty early on I actually think you can get it in act 1 if I'm not mistaken. Granted it's totally random for the most part.
But yeah it's mostly just using minions until you get a couple of the uniques and then you can start dipping more into the curse/chaos side of things

Hope someone can give me direction in regards to the boots BeetleBite. The unique aspect of the boots says "Aggravate Bleeding on enemies when they enter your presence" your presence being the area around your character which is by default 6 meters.
Does this mean as long as I'm 6meters or closer from the enemy all of their bleeds will be aggravated that i inflict?
or is it - based on how its worded - I have to get within 6 meters after i try to apply a big bleed to aggravated it, step away from the mob outside the 6meter to apply a new bleed, to then step close to the mob again to aggrevate the new bleed?
Yes it's decent, you can use it with wand if you have the attributes for it
but if it's all you can afford and you have a good plan for it, it can be a smart buy

Are mana tempest and archmage both supposed to not work with pyromantic pact at all?
My character should still have as much maximum mana with the node, just 0 current mana, so I'd expect archmage to work
Mana tempest just toggles itself off when used too, I would've expected it to just make me explode faster and faster as I cast spells instead until I either get out or nuke myself
Still even with 0 mana, mana tempest should work (or does it turn off with blood magic too?)

Once your dmg is determined, the magnitude of your poison is then derived. So modifiers to magnitude take affect in that second step, thereby (effectively) acting as a more multiplier

So taking no acro first. Your defence will be only evasion rating. Meaning the more you have the less chance enemies hit you. With any attack. But when you have acro. All hits like ranged attacks or melee attacks will not hit, but other attacks that don't take evasion will. Like AOE attacks, non dodgeable attacks from bosses. The one with the soundque and red blinking. That is what I thought.
Now DURATION is a thing you don't care about unless you hit max stacks

hi, I am looking at wand builds like monk hexblast chaos damage. I was wondering why I see they use chaos bolt spell from the wand with 4 links support but in the rotation they never use it

This part is wrong. Evasion only works vs strike and projectiles. It does not work against AOE hits.

With acro, the behavior of strikes and projectile is unchanged. They used to care about accuracy, and they still do. However, you now are allowed to evade AoE hits.
In neither case are you able to evade DoTs

Quick question (bug?) about Galvanic Shard:
There are two tabs in the skill description, "Projectile" and "Beam"
I have 27 lightning penetration from my skill tree (6+15+6) and I would like to clarify some things:
- When I put a Lightning Penetration support on the skill, the "Projectile" part correctly shows 57% lightning penetration - so far so good
- When I remove Lightning Penetration support, NO penetration shows (bug?), instead of just the 27%
- Whether the pen support is in or not, the "Beam" part doesn't show anything... bug? does the beam not benefit from the lightning pen?

the average damage for each element is bigger the phy average on RING. And I'm wandering why is that. The only explanation in my mind is that because phy is converted to other elements almost all the time so that is why is lower.
Why I'm asking this question is because on the weapon is a total different story, the phy damage is added to the base weapon damage before the local % increase phy is applied and then it make sense to be lower.
It might show in a diff section (good text) if all your pen is coming from passives

Plasma blast reload time still hardly exists, but if it was so you could rapid fire you would still need the cooldown to be more like every 1.5-2 seconds instead of 8-10

Bit late to this one, but I don't see any reason why it would be. Mark is a keyword and a tag that would have been present on the skill if so.
If still unsure, try using like Sniper's Mark or something then casting Time Freeze. Each enemy can only have one Mark on them 👍
what mercenary attributes should be priotized? Str, Dex, Int
mercenary is pretty broad. if you mean just a classic crossbow build, you'll need str and dex to equip crossbows
unless you go gemling, then you can stack one of anything
can i ask a question about 2 different quarterstaves and somehting im confused about? idk if this is the right channel but
ive got 2 quarterstaves that have similar DPS but one has 50% elem dmg to atk and one has +6 to gems, why is it that even tho the dmg drop in hideout is 108k->85k, it feels like i need 3-4x the number of hits on an enemy? the rest of the stats are near identical except the one with smaller number has higher crit dmg bonus but still feels slower

Armour Explosion Support triggers an explosion when the supporting skill fully breaks an enemy's armour. It reads: "Converts 100% of physical damage to fire damage". Does this mean you need to have base physical damage for the explosion to deal any damage at all?
well, you need some sort of base damage
if you base damage is all fire for example, it will just deal that fire damage

i think its a bit bugged in how it shows, but the calculation shouold be correct? i think its additive with other multipliers but doesnt show the right total
