what i think is kinda weird is that they show the chaos marker on poison dmg, but unless you read about the poison tooltip you'll know it doesnt scale with poison dmg

yeah, Poison scales off the attack that applied it ... the pre-mitigation physical+chaos ... so modifers to attack increase poison ... and modifiers to magnitude increase poison damage

the Poison grenade has 3 sources of damage, Impact, poison Cloud and Explosion.
impact i understand, its the damage applied when the grenades pop and release their gas.
i THOUGHT the "poison Cloud" is the Poison Dot applied, but that remains unaffected if i increase/decrease the Poison magnitude, so i figured "well guess the Poison Cloud itself does damage and i cant see it becaus eit puts the poison DOT on the target too"
so i turned the gas damage into physical (which doesnt apply poisoned dot) turns out: the gascloud doesnt do damage at all, its only the poison Dot applied by the cloud,
since the Dots damage changes (poison magnitude) doesnt affect the Damage number in the Skilltree through: what Does?
what affects "Poison Cloud" damage calculation and how is it applied?

I like it as it means that a physical resistant or chaos resistant is only resistant to about 1/2 of what I'm throwing out
my current understanding is that while it does not Hit, it applies poison as if it did at the Attack Modifier in the skill description
Want to do a Snipe + Toxic Growth build. I am currently playing a Pathfinder and ye it feels nice. But I feel both Snipe and Toxic Growth would thrive more in a non poison environment. Toxic Growth itself does not scale with poison at all outside of a critical mass to make them pop and Snipe I feel is missing a big oomph by trying to make it poison. I feel either Chayula Monk (Reality rending) or Deadeye (Frenzy for barrage snipes) would fit better. Now which one I dont know. Trying to get an idea from some other people around here c:
so at whatever your physical + chaos damage would be for the attack multiplied by whatever the Attack Damage modifier is for the skill
that it does, but the Hit doesnt do damage (changed damagetype to physical so it doesnt apply the poison Dot, but it also doesnt do damage on itself)
the number also isnt affected by the Poison Magnitude multiplier, so it doesnt seem to refer to the Poison Dot's damage either

and then the different modifiers for poison (i.e. Magnitude and Duration) kick in

mine too, but the number marked on the screenshot doesnt change based on poison magnitude, so it doesnt display the poison Dot damage it displayes some other spurce of damage. but the cloud itself doesnt do damage. im trying to fing out what this number refers to

I don't know how much you'll need, you'll have to play around with that yourself
but you should be able to estimate at initially given how hard you hit and seeing how much skills will cost in health per cast

Ah, right. At a guess I'd say that's the expected poison damage per application (the cloud just constantly reaplies it, but the debuff itself lingers for the standard poison duration)

Maybe a bug then? I don't run poison magnitude on it - I rely on the explosion for the damage.
Just tested: If you add Snipers Mark to Hand of Chayula and apply it with a crit you get a charge instantly

Why do most people think this is a good rune? 2% max life is like 60 hp when I have 3.5k hp - seems just ok
I'd put 5% all ele res and 7% chaos res runes above this.

much easier to get 60 extra hp than 15% all ele res and 7% chaos
id say the mayor part of why the weapon portion is good ios the fact that the recovery is instant

Do you mean would it be affected by mods to ES? I don't think so. Conversion in PoE2 is no longer modified pre-conversion. When you turn energy shield into something else, mods that scale energy shield won't affect it.

Foci are kinda like magic based shields. They dont give any block or armor, but can roll spell based modifiers and energy shield

The test is look at the stats for your curse. See if slotting magnify increased your curse radius

Quick question, when allocating points into the different weapon sets, and only using X skills using that weapon set. Do totems snapshot from the weaponset theyre cast from or whats the thing there

melee evasion = 80 + (80 * 0.08)
someone said increase is additive, and more is multiplicative

I just recently got Sorceress ascension Stormweaver.
However i am affaid i dont fully understand skills:
- Constant Gale
- Force of Will
The first one makes Arcane Surge permanent?
And the second basicly divides my max mana by 15 and adds result% to Arcane Surge?

Essentially, yes. First one gives permanent arcane surge so you don't have to get it from anywhere else, which gives a base of 10% more cast speed and 20% more mana regen. The second one increases that effect based on your max mana, so basically every 150 max mana will give an extra 1% cast speed and 2% mana regen

I'm doing it as stormweaver using the unique gloves that convert fire to cold and it's working well. It doesn't synergize as well with mana stacking as lightning builds and it's harder to go crit, but the Stormweaver exposure node is crazy for cold builds because you can get a lot of exposure effect
No idea if Blood Mage is better, it can have the potential for high crit chance or tons of life but it does have to deal with life management

I believe leech and life on block counts as regen, I don't think recoup counts as regen
Evasion is such a weird stat....you can only evade certain things and if u get hit ure like paper doll if ure investing heavily on evasion
Point in case u need nodes that convert evasion to something else for it to be good

Yeah I'm playing monk and I kinda hate evasion
But then again everything tells me I need to stack evasion and convert that shit
evasion is fine if you have other forms of mitigation for the case you do get hit. things like ghost dance and wind dancer and stuff
the problem with poe2 is that we don't have a lot of layered defences yet so evasion sucks in a vacuum

we don't have trickster 
the reality is you need enough life ot survive your one hit. and then move on and heal. its pretty fine with Acrobatics

guys, some body armours say "+40 to maximum energy shield", is that included in the value shown at the top on the body armour? Because when I filter by minimum 100ES, let's say, on PoE2 trade, I get armours that have the value at the top less than 100, but have + to maximum energy shield, so it makes me think it's not included
most evasion builds very easily pull off ghost dance by simply taking the 2 trickster nodes in front of monk.
You can also go Evasion + Life if you have a reason to stack str. like crossbows
Does the bottom few skills +10projectile dmg do drastic dmg output for projectile sorc?
Losing 70% evasion seems too big a hit if DoTs can still kill u...id rather sacrifice 40% from invoker to get high armor
it is included. if you filter for 100 ES minimum and you get armors under that. it is because with Quality, they will hit 100 ES

but if you want it to be a main defensive layer, you need something like acro or monk pdr node etc
having a 2nd set of passives where you can put a bunch of points into +curse and only use it when applying curses makes blasphemy just feel... bad. cause youre sacrificing more like 66% of the curses potential to use it

Also I'm finding it very hard to do a spellblade of some sort. Attack skills require attack damage bonuses...but then if u cast an elemental spell it requires spell damage. And guess how many nodes actually improve ur spell damage while using a melee weapon? Yeah, like 3 or 4. Oh but what if u switch to a spell staff to cast a spell...sure that would work if it didnt disable passives like herald of frost that require melee weapon.

i mean if youre doing an elemental damage type as your main attack then there are a ton of +ele and +specific element nodes all across the tree, and lots of +skill speed near monk
its not an "illusion of choice" there are no spellblade ascendancies implemented right now. and theres no support for it on the tree.
there's a bit of support, but the ascendencies is the big thing
theres also no skills/weapons that imply you would be doing spellblade right now

In PoE 1 it was a sword of pure energy you generated that had weapon damage stats based on your overall energy shield

Sup guys. I switched over to Giants blood to run Sword and board. I however suddenly cant use my lvl 15 Hammer of the gods. Its well under my 243 strenght level tho. Is there some feature im not aware about? I can however run my lvl 14 Hammer. Im now holding back about upping all my skills to 16s

In the experimenting I've done fire spells are in an awkward spot. Fireball can do decent damage but needs frost wall to shotgun, it's awful in a lot of areas by itself. Firestorm felt week to me, Ember Fusilade is clunky, haven't tried flameblast, flame wall is strong but it's more or a supplemental skill

yeah my friend essentially echoes what you're saying, hes excited to try the last fire spell (idk the name) but i do kinda feel bad that he wants to specialize and just use ONLY fire spells but if its just too "bad" he just feels unmotivated which I can understand

Usually they only go up to 75% unless you have something that raises your max resists

no, I've got 101% resistance that's at 75%, and if there's an elemental curse that gives you -15%, I'd still be at 75%

Infernalist is one of the ascendencies for Witch yeah, and it can grant some benefits to minions
You can get extra spirit based on your max life, which means more minions
And you can grant more fire damage to your minions or get a hellhound minion that takes some damage for you

Really just whatever attributes your gear and skills needs, though most minion related skills will probably lean into Int
Have Flame Wall. Arsonist Minion/Sniper Minion/Warrior Minion
You'll probably want a Scepter, because Scepters give a tonne of spirit (up to 200+!) and Scepters need a mix of Str and Int

can i get some clarification on chain support.
if i use arc spell which chains 4 times. and if chain support adds +1 to chain it would make it chain 5 times. but then it also says supported skills chain 100% more times. so would arc then chain total of 10 times or 9 times (4x2 +1)

When dmg is converted it scales of the new dmg modifier so 100% lighting to cold will scale of only spell/cold dmg boost and not shock

Maybe with high enough tier you can mend the build and alpha Howl can be a temporary measure

yep, unless you are using a spell, spells don't count as used through your weapon, but everything else pretty much does, unless maybe unarmed attacks
So the rule of thumb is a martial art skill/attack uses all the damage and add damage your weapon has unless is specifically for spells
But spells can only use the added damage that is specifically for spells
I don't think theres added flat to spell dmg in the game but I could be wrong
It seems they wrapped that into +spell level affixes instead to be more intuitive

Anyone here doing a warrior build and also wondering whether conversion skills are worth it? Wondering if primal armament would work on something like perfect strike. Wish there was a way to see damage on a dummy or smth

As a witch, do you generally want to be putting passive skills into Strength? it seems like alot of witch spells require strenght

Damage from Weapon -> Skill Conversions -> Passive Conversions (Like AoF)-> Damage Increases

By damage increases what do you mean exactly? Like gems, or passive nodes?
are you able to corrupt a skill gem to get a 6th support gem spot?
If you're scaling lightning damage, the one on the left isnt actually much of an upgrade at all.

yeah the flat lightning doesnt get converted. it just gets added directly on top if your scaling lightning
For anyone running evasion builds, how do you like to deal with physical hits? Aside from just not getting hit...

0.4 x 250 (avg) is 160, whereas 0.4 x 150 is 60, +45 (avg) lightning is 105 lightning dmg avg. What am I missing here
I want something extreme and over the top. Between Snipe + Barrage with max frenzy charges, Flameblast, Explosive arrow and Plasma blast which is the most "Wtf did I just do" attack. Like I want to see a lifebar dissapear

My all elemental resists dropped by 10% and idk why and when, i changed nothing in build, just 3rd and 4th ascendancy

@gray ferry So I have a little extra tech for that since im trying to figure out a good snipe build myself. If you use the node that converts endurance charges into frenzy charges with the support that gives you a chance to gain an endurance charge on armor break with corrosion on Snipe, every snipe you fire off has a chance to top off your frenzy charges again for the next barrage

@gray ferry For bosses obviously unspec out the node and use Snipers mark if you want reliability. Especially with it now having a 2 second cooldown :P
Have you looked into guaranteed armour break using the +50% break on heavy stun + nodes that break increased armour? With hulking form it translates to 100% chance + 120% added damage to fully broken enemies. Still seems good? o.O
That's how most people were armour breaking

I think it's playable for certain builds, but it's still overly limiting. And the bleed stuff just doesn't feel viable

3rd I think sanctum is easier but ultimatum should be OK aswell
There was a bug causing the DoTs consume too much honour
this patch makes it drain like 1/3 as much now
I figure that should help with scorpion
also you lose up to 35% less honour depending on how close you are to enemies

Sorc question, what's a solid early-mid game sorc build atm? Currently just spamming spark + flame wall and looking to move on
for context im about half way through act 2, lvl ~26
I think I'll take advantage of the split tree feature, using something like gas arrow for pack clear along with corrosion and resonance, and stick with sniper's mark on bosses

After patch couldnt even break armor on shield wall anymore sad times for warrior
for example you could use Combat Frenzy to give you power charges instead of frenzy charges on freeze/electrocute

there's also one that gives chance for power charge on crit
so your gonna have more resistances
and based on how it works in the acts its probably -10% resistances per threshold
you know how you get resistance debuff between acts? you also got the same when moving into T6 maps and T11 maps - they removed those last two - so assume youll have tons of resistance when you log back on
for me this means i can get chaos res for cheaper

haven't played much blood mage yet but people seem to say it needs some tweaking
but its interupted by all forms of losing life it seems
so you cant spend life and keep recharging i think

mostly seem people annoying with having to use both life and mana for skills

Warriors don't have to pay double cost for Blood Magic - it's just 1:1 for them

armour explosion used to cause more armor explosion, so it could chain through the entire screen
they removed its ability to chain - but its unconfirmed

all the patch notes said is that armour break no longer triggers itself recursively, to me that might mean it can still chain, there might have been a bug where it would apply multiple times to the same target idk
