easier way is to get flame wall from the elemental tab
later on you get a bow skill that can ignite it

totem build works fine, but its so boring. im trying to change build into actual melee LOL
they are thinking about making that change in the future but currently it does not work that way for the gas arrow skill gem. i think it does work that way for some other ones though, like the skeletal sniper minion who can shoot gas arrows

totems scale with gem lvl, after certain point u cant get more skill levels so they fade out

meh totems are so boring to me, just abused them early on since warrior early game was awful
Is the Overwhelm node (and others like it) generally a trap? Intuition says the loss in attack speed wayyyy overrides the increased damage.
(For context, Overwhelm is 5% Reduced Attack Speed, 20% increased Stun buildup, 40% increased damage with 2h Weapons. Also for context, I'm wielding a crossbow, in case it matters)

So I'm kinda of confused on something about the weapon passive skill sets....maybe someone can clarify. I have 2 passive skill points right now, 2 for weapon set 1 and 2 for weapon set 2. If I try to use all 4 of the weapon set 1/2 it takes my 2 passive also...but I can use 1 of the passive and then the 4 weapon set ones and it only takes 1 of my passive instead of 2...wtf?
Like if I just use the 4 weapon set passives I have right now, it will eat both of my passives I have...but if I spend 1 first then I can still use the 4 weapon set ones...so where does that 2nd passive go if I use the 4 weapon set points while having 2 passive points...it's just gone?!??!

Anyone know exactly how support gem damage scales? Wanted to make a physical damage mercenary, but Armour Explosion is 100% fire conversion. If it's attached to a projectile skill (AP Rounds in this case), does the explosion scale off of projectile and 2h weapon nodes?

How can I trigger shock with ball lightning? It says in the videos presenting the skill that it is "very effective" at triggering shock but I can't manage do to it x)
no it pretty much always rounds down. its 3
in almost all cases the decimal places are cut off
Every hit has a 1% chance to shock for every 4% of ailment threshold-worth of damage you hit them with
Ball lightning has a huge multiplier to that 1%
so how do you get the other 2 ascendary points
do you have supports that also help with shocking? otherwise its most likely a dmg problem

armor is for physical dmg, yep. not sure about grenade build per se

its not represented on the minions stats in terms of crit or attack speed that i can see i cant really make out a noticable increase in attack speed but it may be working

i would also expect an aura buff to not show up in the minion stat sheet as the aura is not always guaranteed to affect any or even all minions

with your setup your ball lightning should have a guaranteed shock when dealing like 1-2% of the enemy health in a single hit. there has to be something else. some kind of support, item, tree node or bug that doesnt allow you to shock

Guys i rock an invoker monk, and want to solve power charge problems, now i use siphoning strike on shocked enemies, im lvl 59,and soon i can try cast on crit, would it work eith profane ritual to generate power charges?

idk if anyone knows the answer or not but is it intended that when converting ES to Mana with Eldritch Battery that ES from sources other then the gear itself dont get converted? examples of this is i was thinking of running evasion ES gear so i could take the nodes on the tree that give both but when taking any ES nodes on the skill tree my mana does not increase. this also happens with atziris disdain unique hel which converts % health to ES when paired with Eldritch Battery it gives you ES and does not increase mana
Srs are only summoned by fire based skills but yes you can absolutely have different elemental minions
Im going minions with my char doing debufs and exposure tho (with extra exposure from my stotrmweaver and they go ham), so kind of only single element works, mixing them just decreases value
but if I go one of the two exposures cold there's no real way I see to use the one extra good minion based skill srs

Am I missing something or is the duration shown on the tooltip for Contagion not even close to correct? Tooltip says 5 seconds duration but actual against white enemies is about half that?
it is a viable build this is similar to my current build it was kinda weak in the first half but really took off in the second half

unsocket it = remove the gem from that socket so that it's an item again. active skill gem = a spell that you're hoping to "trigger" by using cast on freeze. like if you want to cast Comet when you freeze things, then you need to get a Comet gem and put it in the open slots

Yes. The "Cast on [trigger]" spirit gems have sockets. You socket the active skills you want to trigger into those sockets. The spirit cost to activate this varies with the number of socketed skills, and the skills don't trigger with every occurrence of the trigger. Read the tooltip for specific info.
evasion usually has diminishing returns? especially if you're looking at evasion on your helm/gloves/boots vs your body armor
i'd definitely focus on evasion for the body armor since it can get so much

or whichever dance builds ES based on evasion rating
you can toggle wind dance on and off and see how much it changes your actual % chance to evade to get an idea

you won't if you're ES
but what will happen is you'll take all your ES as damage, recoup will do nothing because you haven't lost life yet, and then you'll be kind of stuck around half "health"
Actually this gear won't really matter when I'm high enough level to do maps where you can be 1 shot with any stats
so it'll be a little dodgy
hybrid monk can avoid getting oneshot in maps
evasion/ES monk with ghost step is quite durable

I don't think evasion has "diminishing returns" exactly because chance to evade is a function of attack accuracy.

yes, the life will be a "cost" you can't pay
Returns will diminish with game progress if you can't stack evasion sufficiently high for late game content

I don't know if the recoup plan is going to be worth it, but it sounds cool, especially with temporal rift. I wanna be able to handle the highest tier maps
im trying to max out fire damage as a ranger, what should i look at on the passive tree? Im pretty new
tough call tbh. i think if you're investing in recoup you should have a max life roll on every piece of equipment possible, going as high as you can within budget (so make sure resists are high first, then pay for a max life roll), and only buy hybrid es/evasion bases
body armor is the only piece i would hardcore focus on ES/evasion mods though

my monk runs ghost step + wind dancer and as long as i keep my charges up and don't just try to facetank, i feel very durable
sometimes you gotta run out of there even if your health is high just because you might have run out of charges though
my gut feeling is if i notice a wind gale then i'm probably low on charges
I imagine what I REALLY need to focus on is surviving high tier bosses
i haven't run any pinnacles or anything but regular map bosses die without moving usually
freeze + tempest bell is kind of dumb
What does Endurance Charges do in POE2 ?

i'm not actually sure. when i trigger a skill with something like that, it seems to be unable to generate more energy
being allowed 1 mistake every 6 seconds and getting to instantly refill ES to full without paying mana sounds fantastic

not sure how savy you are with nodes yet but this is what I'm about to spec. Doing shattering palm (with blind support) + herald of ice + hypothermia with double curse area (node that gives free hinder) and node that gives 30% dmg vs hindered enemies

i found it very mana-hogging, i switched to CoC
for 25 ex, you would want more than 18 armor +8 max energy shield and +30 maximum life
it'll cost you more nodes that you don't look like you have the points for yet, but it's enough to get triggers semi-frequently for the damage bonus

Watch hypothermia be a total waste for mapping

hypothermia ends up being kind of a waste because you ignore resists on frozen enemies already
i still used it for single target cus it helps me get that first freeze better
but sometimes i don't need it
those last few points of cold/lightning res will be incredibly impactful
oh so try to get them all to 75 and then go for more life?
and maybe some offinsive stats
going from 57->75 cold res will almost halve the damage you take

i can't tell because i specced it pretty early on so my baseline is using that node (heavy frost and thin ice)
but mostly what happens to bosses is after i freeze them, i drop a temple bell and hit both of them and the boss gets deleted

because the tooltip is very confusing, it doesnt seem to take the dual wield into account. "average dmg per use" goes down when I equip second mace
there's not really a good way to combine 2 weapon hits into one

yeah but the frag rounds cause an explosion radius, so i think if the first mob you hit explodes and hits the next mob in line, then that mob does a herald explosion before the frag round hits it

If u stack fire resist to cap, it won't kill you, and so you can take just a little and pretty much spam spells forever with no cost, but besides that, yeah I get you.
Though it allows you to fully not invest in mana
my main goal was getting CoC to proc after i drop a temple bell
eye of winter hits the bell like 50 times
im at 75% it kills me from max hp/shield still

yeah there's that charge infusion buff that eats them to give you 20% crit bonus but that seems kinda lame

Final boss, cruel, held 1 Button down, won the fight. 1st lot of maps... just auto win them with no gear upgrades. Idk. I hope this falls off. Seems crazy atm.
I feel like running combat frenzy + charge infusion (+20 crit chance) and 60% crit bonus off the nodes doesn't seem worth all that investment. Or at least as that build used them

Does anyone have an opinion on if 'Electrocute' is worth using for an Invoker Monk? Currently I'm using 'Combat Frenzy' and 'Resonance' to build power charges off of Freeze and Electrocute. I have Electrocute on Charged Staff, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm having a hard time generating Power Charges against bosses
when you say it doesn't seem to be working, do you mean that you can't electrocute/freeze frequently?

if your charges fall off and you lose the charged staff buff, you could be a little stuck anyways though
Against white mobs I seem to be procc'ing Freeze consistently (usually after Shattering Palm), but I can never proc Electrocute

you might have a support that prevents ailments
elemental focus or something?
also the electrocute will only be based on the small bonus damage the charged staff shockwave does
so it's not gonna be nearly as strong as your freeze strength
Is it possible that Electrocute doesn't work with Charged Staff? I imagine only the projectiles from the staff would be contributing to Electrocute build up?
I'll double check I don't have that support, but I do seem to be getting freeze procs off of shattering palm. But very rarely from tempest fury or storm wave by itself it seems
If a mob is inflicted with a stun of some sorts. Subsequent stuns are penalised in how fast they build up
It's indicated by the mobs stun bar being orange
double check the charged staff advanced tooltip and see if there's a "Cannot inflict Electrocute buildup" or something snuck in there
So after freezing, you'll have a hard time electrocuting
that does happen sometimes to skills where it doesn't really make sense

but yeah probably more likely that your freeze is like 20x stronger and then locks out your electrocute
i didn't think freezing would effect ignite or shock
It doesn't affect ignite or shock since they're not stuns
i thought freezing was it's own thing in that regard, similar to stunning

Oh, interesting, that could explain it. So in that case it seems like trying to proc power charges off of both Freeze and Electrocute probably isn't worth it (Especially since Electrocute is -40% lightning damage)

You would need to look at the skills DE and know all your sources of flat damage.
Currently that's sort of unreasonable to do by hand.
Hi guys, why can't I use Herald of Ice? it says I don't have enough spirit but I have 25/55
you can try adding/removing a “Mastery” support gem to estimate the damage increase from a single level
I haven't used HoT in poe 2, but in poe 1 the bolt itself didn't do aoe damage, it struck an enemy. So conc effect would impact the aoe portion of the skill (area around you) but it would not impact the damage of the strike because it's not area damage. Same deal as ball lightning

if you have 100 elemental damage on your weapon and you have this on your weapon now has 125 ele damage

@spring templeI originally was a shotgunner but grenades just outscaled shotgun so I switched up
I am mainly a grenadier now but I am dual xbow and I use frag shot for culling
It still does reasonably decent dmg but the big issue is I don't have a freeze in the build for frag to shatter and get the big aoe+multiplier
I mean there's no real reason to use frag rounds here

lightning grenade shocks obv which boosts dmg and cc
flash grenade does good dmg and blinds

Frag Shot works in this build for culling strike regardless but it'd be nice if it would shatter mobs cuz it does goooood dmg comparable to nades when it shatters

I personally don't see a problem with switching bolts
The delay really isn't that long
Because the bolt switch doesn't mean auto freeze
You freeze very quickly with supports
It's switch to freeze bolts, shoot multiple times, maybe freeze some maybe not, switch back to frag, shatter, maybe not shatter them all and some are still alive
Detonating the ice walls with frag rounds
VS grenade kills them in 2 hits
