guys im using a comet build on sorc, i was wondering is there anything that will give me a crazy boost to mana regen so that i can infinitely cast comets back to back without running out of mana?
but u need to be scaling melee crit to trigger it... it just seems incredibly awkward and also the flat damage ont he skill is very very low

because I think it compliments ice strike very well
to explain: first of all, if you want to scale the damage on it, you should just play coc comet. Look at the flat numbers on the skill... it is laughably bad. Then factor in its hard locked to a CD which comet is not. It has less coverage than comet. Sure it doesnt reserve spirit, but it costs an ascendancy point so its not free.
second - it can't crit. this is hoenstly the main issue. if you could scale it off of crit, which you want to scale to trigger it, it would be playable. the main issue is the node prior to it. this sets all ele res to 0 on crits. this is GIGA and you would want to lean into it heavily and avoid all pen/exposure on tree. it basically lets you ignore pen, exposure, and curses. THIS DOES NOT WORK BECAUSE THE SKILL CANNOT CRIT... so every hit you do is going to be heavily mitigated...
lastly, it has a spell tag not an attack tag, which is honestly not that big of a problem, but again if you want to scale spell damage, you are literally going to just be playing a 10x worse version of coc comet...
so like if you want to do that for style points more power to you, but it will be bad i guarantee it
like the only way i see this node working is a heavy crit scaling build that is scaling % increased ele... which is what i want to play and would be insanely fun, but its bricked by this skill being unable to crit.

- I can add One (1) point for weapon set 1 and it consumes a single weapon set point and my overall skill point

I'm struggling with my witch hunter. It might sound dumb, but the whole grande thing seems super clunky. I throw out my oil granade, ignite them with my explosive shot, then I throw my poison granades, but even spamming, I get like 1-2 poison grande throws out before they are no longer ignited. The merc's animations, the fuse timers, ect, and that it chews through mana... it seems so rigid. I can;t seem to do any damage.
if you have 0 ES (ED) are you at full ES at all times?

i did the whole thing myself and im honestly very new to POE, so it might suck
but im having a blast in t7 still basically oneshotting everything
get Mist Whisper which you can buy on trade for like 9 Orbs of Augment, put 2 sockets on it and put the Cold damage runes. Then support auto shot with Poison and Poisons Armour Break, and win into mid act 2 by just auto attacking.
Once you get the electric shotgun ability, use that to clear the trash mobs and auto to kill Bosses and Rares
is granade mercenary the best build out there ? granades seems to be random

I walked through clearing act 1 in about an hour, maybe a little less by running that.
The Poison grenades are helpful as well on bosses and rares.

With the change to demon form... What does that mean exactly. Is the new Rate 1% per max hp per stack or is it just 1 hps per stack minimum. For example the dustbloom chestpiece would pretty much negate this up to 10%

Hi i'm wondering what stats increase thorns damage aside from the obvious thorns % and thorns flat damage?
Theres stuff like 1% block chance = 1% bonus damage, would that apply to thorns?

Look for a Spirit Necklace, get you minions to highest lvl. You could also get a spirit chest piece.
Also try and grab up all the early-ish minion health nodes. There is a big cluster halfway uk the line and to the right.
Then try to get minion resistance.
For example... I did a frost build with 4 frost makes that was stupidly insane. Was fun af...
But you could also run like 20 warriors lol.

Also there is a unique chest that gives you 100 spirit... kinda a no trainer for any ion build.
Eight now at lol 35 I can have roughly 380 spirit. So quite a few minions but if they are weak then why bother.
as a sorc when I got this chest I tried getting some minions just to use the extra spirit but they suck so bad if not specced into them
In your tree go.to search bar and type minion. Read all minion nodes that light up.
I initially pushed for minion dmg only... but minions are so weak theu die stupid fast. So I grabbed damage and minion life as well as resistance

There are bosses that are difficult to stay in melee range :/

the base damage seems pretty pathetic so I'm not sure its for doing damage, but since status ailments are based on damage dealt...
you have to time attacks for melee windows and use an assortment of mobility skills; the only boss that really sucked for monk was balboa

no, it grants 25% of Damage gained as Extra Lightning Damage. that's its own thing, it's not a source of #% increaeed Damage.

it says "Damage gained" so it doesnt care what kind of damage - all damage, including lightning.

What is the difference between ATK Speed and projectile Speed ? Isnt ATK Speed unessesary If the projectiles fly at max Speed,so the next projectile releases.
So ATK Speed is only for the normal ATK and projectile Speed for skills? But than they normal ATK benefits also from projectile Speed. So Summa summarum does it Affect me If i sacrifice ATK Speed but max projectile Speed Instead ? (Sacrifice ATK Speed for projectile DMG ).

there are builds that can have proj speed translated to more damage, maybe just not now, just like how slower proj is inc dps in ball lightning

"increased" = additive with other modifiers granting the same stat
"more" = multiplicative with other modifiers granting the same stat
Oh so stats with different categories are always multiplicative

While for modifies under the same category I have to pay attention to the text whether it’s more or increased
well, sources of "increased Spell Damage" are additive with sources of "increased Cold Damage"
because they affect the same stat, which is "increased Damage" and "Spell" and "Cold" are just specifiers
So what is projectile Speed Worth than on Crossbows ? I dont get why it has so many nodes when Speed does not Help at all in DPS. Like If the projectiles hit target faster or Not. I dont get the Point of Projectile Speed than.
IT would make Sense If the target would move faster and changing positions , so the projectile Hits on time but otherwise idk.

The issue right now for me is the base damage is 1.-19 and that damage is way to low to be able to shock the enemies even with the inherent 750% extra chance to chock. Anyone here been able to get the ball lightning damage and thus the change to chock to reliably shock?

Hey guys. Im currenty in act 3 level 32. Im building a warrior and im going for a "1shot" /heavyhitter style by abusing passives related to cutting atk speed for more dmg, 2h dmg boost, stun boost and dmg on stun boost.
Ive been using perfect strike since its the first skill I got that worked really well with htis however I would like to look into using another move down the line when I unlock more support gem possibilities/skills.
Is there any way to help with the insane issue of using Shout+Skill (I dont even have enough mana without potion to do them consecutively once lmao).

that's correct -- it's a red support gem. make sure you uncheck show recommended at the bottom left of the gem ui

So I really like the idea of using Shattering Palm as a main skill, but unarmed isn't really supported too much atm as far as I can tell. I was thinking about stacking int for the passive tree node "pure power"(2% inc dmg per 10 int), and using the unique ring call of the brotherhood which converts all lightning dmg to cold dmg.

General rule of thumb is that it has to be explicitly stated as a minion affix or that it affects allies
only minion dmg attack etc needs to say it explkicitly
Auras inherently affect allies as well
But that's p much it aside from niche unique effects and stuff that may exist
So what is weird is that I equip3d gloves that added electrical damage and then the minion tool tip added the damage from the gloves

I can't get the 20% of the time, spell shoots 8 proj to work either on a cast on X gem, but the 2+ projectile gem works, but the 2+ projectile nodes do not work. At least in my testing. But most of the time when I ask questions, people seem to know how interactions are meant to work or not.
But I guess I'll have to reroll to a popular streamer build then at this point, because I'm hitting a wall at tier 3 maps with that setup sadly.
Do these two nodes also reduce Spirit cost on skills? All the other similar nodes seem to state a specific resource, like life or mana, but these two are generic:
Gemling Legionnaire > Advanced Thaumaturgy node > "30% Less Cost Of Skills"
Passive skill tree > Deep Trance > "10% Reduced Cost Of Skills"
if you put a support gem on "cast on shock" along with a spell, does that support gem apply its effects to the socketed spells?
It may be unintentionally (or possibly intentionally) coded to only trigger on self cast
youre mixing selfcast spell and minion thats youre struggling, focus on either one, minions is easier
just spec into minion nodes, and get arsonist build

You can test via the detailed tooltip window
unsocket support - look at the area of the spell inside the meta gem, then socket and check again
Sometimes you'll be able to socket something that gives an effect but it doesn't explicitly say whether it supports the gem inside or not so you have to manually check
Yeah, I guess that is what I will have to do. Going in blind I really just wanted to power up SRS with just the offensive nodes and not invest in all minion, but too many of the support nodes or support skill gems just don't seem to work.

It inherits your max mana on conversion but since the new resource is not explicitly mana, mana regen does not work
That's a good rule of thumb for things that convert mana pool to a new resource

I mean, I made it to tier 3 maps, but the way I wanted to build my character I can't seem to push it comfortably past that. But I tend to be a play a single build to 100 kind of guy, not roll alts, so was hoping I'd get further on my own build.
When you hit a wall you look at the individual roadblocks and try to go around them, sometimes you invest too much into the roadblocks and have to reroll, it happens. Probably way more in PoE1. I've made so many failed builds lol

yeah I am at that point, I spent about 150k gold respeccing different things. I thought ignite would work, then I thought a complete invest in elemental damage would work alongside SRS, but I pathed all the way to get the extra proj nodes, thinking they should work (since scattershot works for them) but alas, it doesn't. I even invested in a few 5 slot gems thinking that I solved the problem, just to notice after a few maps, they just don't work

I mean, I posted what I was trying to do above somewhere. I basically wanted to take the 10 offensive minion nodes (I path through them anyway) for SRS nodes, and just support SRS those with all +damage gems, and then alternativelly, take +elemental damage, and trigger fireballs (multiple gems) for cast on ignite. The goal being to machine gun the fireballs. But the +2 to proj nodes don't seem to work on triggered spells, so I spent a lot of time pathing for no reason, so I didn't get to really test if it could work past testing scattershot (which does). Wildshards also never seems to trigger when cast on ignite vs self cast.
The calculation probably doesn't work the way you think it does, but it is good if you are outputting elemental dmg
Anyway, I'll just farm up gold and switch to someone elses tested build at this point, prolly one of the minion ones

Yeah, that's why I came here to figure out if I was missing something, since gurus here tend to know more than me. I thought I had a slow but passable idea, but with the way POE2 works, at tier 3 maps, with my current gear, if I hit a regen mob it takes 20 mins to kill, which just likely means I can't throw too much gear at the problem. I guess I'll post it as a bug for now. But I though tmaybe I was missing some wording somewhere. It's easy to test though, just put in cast on ignight, fireball (or lightning orb) with those nodes, you never ever get extra proj on those.

Aside from the interaction not working it's probably a good rule of thumb for making builds to not spread your damage types too thin, so if you are scaling minions you solely focus on that unless there's a particular interaction that covers both
I am posting this without comment for people (monks) who perhaps want to shore up their early game defences
well in my case, SRS only needs offensive nodes, which you path through to get the extra projs and through the starting point. I didn't really take minion life, 0 minion resistance,s etc, because SRS doens't need it

I'm playing a ranger but I'm considering investing them into STR just to get more HP, or stick with DEX for ACC% and invest in STR/INT if needed for the build. What would be your take on it? Chance to shock is its own stat which you can get more of, but shock chance is also dependent on damage (relative to the health of the enemy, I think?)
You need to have high enough damage since shock chance is inherently tied to the lightning hit damage to deal

No, shock magnitude increases the effect of the shock (which is 20% increased damage taken baseline)

For the record, while it's a fair rule of thumb, you should know that evasion chance is sort of a lie (unless they changed it from PoE 1)
It's an estimate based on your character level assuming you're fighting mobs about the same level, but not 100% correct in every situation since some monsters have higher accuracy
It's more like "the chance to dodge the first hit by an average enemy scaled to your level" IIRC

I forget exactly how the evasion calculations work (by which I mean I never actually learned to start with) but I think they specifically made it so that you dodge an average amount of attacks, so it becomes less effective if you get lucky and more effective if you have a streak of getting hit. I think.
Basically they tried to make it so it's a consistent layer of defense, even though it's still technically up to chance

He's difficult to play early game, but the farther you make it with him you'll start to see that you can actually sink health bars rather quickly. If you just play a little slower than other classes, you shouldn't struggle.

pen is generally very good to have, just like poe1. There is a really interesting notable on the tree for freeze that lets you ignore resistances though, which means pen does nothing.
Pen is very good for bosses and not great for everything else

Actually better than 75% since Vaal doesn't change all mods, and some of those mods would be fine to lose. But I lose the 3 important mods, Physical damage, Physcial damage, and reduced attributes so 100% full brick

I think it also applies to slows from status effects- so immune to slow would be immune to the effects of chill (you would still count as chilled for other effects I think)

Not really? My recommendation would be that any time you die, you try to invest in a solution to what killed you. If you got oneshot or killed too quick to avoid by movement, find a node that gives you more of your primary defence (armour, evasion, ES) next to the branches you were already travelling on for damage

in general freeze is a very safe cc
If you get killed by swarms, try Wind Dancer or movement skills. If you get killed by bleed or poison, try to adjust charms or see if you have relevant passives nearby. The important thing is that you don't want to stretch too far for defense, unless it's core to your build. Like, if you're doing CI you need CI, but don't take five travel nodes to get to an average ES cluster with nothing interesting nearby

Well, they upped the cooldwon for combat frenzy to about 12 seconds. No more free charges and no more perma charged staff for monks. Funny thing - its not even mentioned in the patch notes ...

"Trigger gem energy gain was not in the right place and it was far too easy to use ailments to trigger spells. One problem with the previous system is that if we balanced it to make triggering happen in boss fights then the triggering would happen far too often during clearing. In order to address this we are now making "Monster Power" part of the calculation for energy gain. This means that it's far easier to trigger skills from Unique Monsters than it is from normal monsters, but you also hit many more normal monsters when fighting. Another issue was using low level skills with unconditional ailment applications such as Flame Wall to ignite enemies for triggering. In order to make the source of the ignite matter we are making the energy gain be dependent on the strength of the ignite. We have also rebalanced all energy gain across the board." what does this mean for monks cast on freeze?

do charms apply to the effects that trigger them? like does a ruby charm increase the fire resistance of the hit that causes the charm to trigger?

the block and armor break changes are pretty big honestly, makes armor break on heavy stun actually pretty worth while for stuff that doesn't die instantly

Hmm...I just got to look at the ascendancies...there's no way to play melee ranger currently from what I am seeing, right? No way to trigger poison after all which is what the non-ranged ascendancy has. Probably when spear tree comes out?

Instead of malding, anyone who wants to play meta gem skill builds should look into investing into energy generation, or possibly just playing Invoker. It's build heavily into the kit. Before this change it was clearly overtuned based on the investment required.

its so tough now since im already split on having to scale attack and spell since ele expression is based on melee crit so
yeah the nerf was expected but going from 6 meteors from every freeze to like 6 meteors every 30 freeze is just not really usable anymore unless u want to spend 30min on a tier 1 map
