You will have to test it.
Sunder will heavy stun with crushing blow, breaking the armor, but sunder probably wont consume that break armor in that same hit b/c the target wasnt broken armor when sunder initially hit.
So it's a matter of in what order are these things calculated in the engine, info we don't have so gotta test it.

Question regarding the 'new' ignite.
I know penetration still doesn't affect ignite damage - but from what I understand of the ailment threshold, the hit will determine the chance to ignite.
Therefore does penetration help in improving chance to ignite?

AoE mostly affects the width of Sunder in PoE1, can you use the ability to see the width differences? The length is affected as well but by a smaller margin for whatever reason

there are 1000s of videos on youtube. but in general you get enough skill gems to try everything, can do w/e with passives, most paths are good enough.
The biggest factor of power by FAR is gear. So if u wanna research anything I'd look into gearing, how to get gear, crafting, vendor, etc.
yh the lenght increase is super tiny
I think there is a dampening on length increase vs length decrease to keep it "Melee" feel but the width should technically go up if it interacts with area % the same as PoE1
the width dont change much either, but the shockwaves are a bit bigger

They've been through this before a handful of times in similar situations
Now there are psuedo payoff effects though you can use like armor explosion which I highly recommend for pack clearing with armor break
You used to be able to affect the same mob with multiple hits from the same skill so people would place ice frost wall behind a boss and spam explosive shot into it

I am doing 2 hander + shield on my warbringer, though keeping up with the requirments is a challenge. My weapon is currently 20 levels out of date, but I still kill bosses in like 2 super charged slams so it isn't a huge issue

Blood mage itself I also think is bad early, but should be amazing in late game.

yhhhh was havin that issue till i picked hulking form, i can use uptodate 2handers. But i guess maybe in the late late game u can use uptodate too if u get a bunch of strenght on your gear

It would not work with sunder as the trigger, should work as a payoff but I am not using it. I am finding just keeping things in negative armor is very strong itself and I don't really NEED an armor break payoff
But yeah I am in Act 2 Cruel and still using this lol. I need to update but getting a workable weapon is a bit of a struggle

can anyone explain to me how weapon damage gets calculated into a skill? specifically, i'm using an "attack" skill that uses 150% of my "attack damage", and also converts 60% of physical damage into lightning damage. how does the physical damage value of my weapon, along with other damage values such as lightning or fire damage, work with this skill?

I have rationalized out my issue.
So the meta skills have two components, the trigger and the spell.
I had the spell set to only work with weapon set 1, which gives the not enough spirit warning instead. Elemental Invocation was working properly cause its a manual cast to then trigger the spell. Where as Cast on Ignite and Cast on Freeze are automatic triggers.
So the only bug is that it says not enough spirit rather than the actual issue.
yeahhh i feel the same, but for now this is one shotting rares with perfect strike and one shotting packs with sunder. I suspect im gonna gonna have a new juicy base to play with in a couple levels

Keeping up with strength has been an interesting thing. But I still kill things so it is working I suppose. When I get my 3rd Acendacy I should hit 75% block immediatly though which is exciting.

nah no warcry or anything like that. I slap heavy swing + Brutality on it which give 70% increased dmg

As the game goes on, it's meant to be harder and so at some point your resistances start dropping so you're incentivized to start building resistances
Every act reduces your resistances. It says it at the bottom of the screen when you start
Implicit vs explicit modifiers. Theyre additive AFAIK, so +37% to your cold resistance
If your cold resistance is 100, you get 137.
Conc Effect always make me sad, it is REALLY good but big circle give me happy brain chemicals

Do we know what %damage is = to a spell level? Like is it better to take a %50 spell damage buff or a +2 to all spells?
naaah no warcry haha Sunder Strike on its own + window of opportunity + fire infusion + smaller zone and more dmg one shots

Whats the best skills to run with blood witch right now
tbh i was using rolling slam + bone shatter (clears packs easily) and perfect strike for single target and it went really fine. Its when i decided to stop tryna make some combo with cries and stuff and just stacked damage on damage that i really started breezin thru the game
something about rolling slam never felt right to me, but even as an ignite war I love using boneshatter, so crunchy
@zinc cipher which as we know isn’t really an option until you get sunder haha. Cause the other skills suck unless you combo them

You can opt into scaling the ignite as well, but I have not done the math on what the optimal scaling path is. Scaling ignite though shouldn't be terrible at the least though

To put it simply;
fire dmg = chance to ignite. Penetration is indirectly more fire dmg, so you ignite more often

There has been a few spots where I suddenly was not doing well, it came down to sometimes just needing a new skill swap out, level up, or crafting a new item to cover a flaw. Act 3 is definitely just way harder than 2 as well. I'm in early act 3 as well

I am insanely tanky I feel like, but I dont deal nearly enough damage. should I be trying to get more fire damage? lean into ignite? do I need more projectile damage?

Apparently they nerfed supercharged lsame from 100% more per stage to 20% more per stage and I can't imagine how broken it was at 100%. It feels strong at 20% right now O.O

I don't understand how lightning arrow will interact with pierce or chain from the tree. Beams emit on hit, so in theory for every hit including piercing. But will the beams not chain if they pierce an enemy? Can the beams even pierce?

Warbringer will defenitely be better in the early game with its 0 warcry cooldown, but Titan has that insane +50% node which works for strength, war-cry cdr, warcry cast speed etc etc, so I think its better lategame? Just making sure, Titan DOES work on the attribute travel-nodes, right?

Warrior feels quite lacking early-game so far.
Warrior is the hardest class to play early game
but I'm now mid-endgame and 1 shotting everything

Warrior isn't really weak early, but it is not intuative how to play the early game with the skills you have
I basically try to set up heavy stun and then heavy stun is there more to it

Rolling slam downtime is too long
Rolling slam is mostly a clear skill and eventually a utility stun builder. It is never a DPS tool. Early on your best damage tool is basic attack which is not intuative.
Yeah I just look at the DPS numbers on the skills and I use mace strike because the numbers are bigger
Those numbers are generally quite misleading with how contextual a lot of damage is in PoE2
but basic attack is just a dumb damage skill if that is what you need
Slap in faster attack + bleed, and you good to go
the boss fight is just throw in totem, and mace attack while dodging mechanics
Well against most of the bosses in the game that seems to be exactly what you need
There are better anti boss tools, but you do not get them in early gem tiers

Hey guys. So if I understand main vs weapon 1,2 right "main" is used to cross long distances on the passive tree? Then I can just use the weapon 1 skill points on select nodes. So you should just use them on the big stat nodes..? Like if wep1 is lightning only get big stat lightning nodes to save on pts and on wep2 get ice for example. And main applies to all weapons?

So unfortunately there isn't an ascendancy that fills the old "Necromancer" niche as of now in EA, but you can still play minions rather effectively with going into Raging Spirits with Infernalist ascendancy (from what I understand from other players, I haven't done it yet).

i dont know poe2's calculation - im going off based on poe1
dex gives melee / ranged accuracy and lets you wear evasion armor (and equip dex based gems)
poe 1, you get extra reduced elemental resistances after clearing act 5 and 10, means if you dont cap you will take more damage
so in a way poe2 it isnt THAT bad
plus it gives us free permanent +resists from quests / unique monster kills
wikia has no calculation on negative resist yet
only way is to test it on bosses
stack flammability and exposure and see if they take more damage or less

I think Raging Spirits tool tip says it can get at most 6 spirits per cast, I tried a lot of different things to get past that limit of 6 and nothing worked
well it will die potentially, but if you have a full minionsetup it can likely solo too
max is 10. each firespell will summon different ammounts up to the max
also just FYI from testing, Negative armor from Warbringer seems to about double the physical damage dealt. Not sure what the actual math is here but it is quite good

My main source of damage are chaos spells though, DoT w/+40% dmg & shorter duration, so i can spam and do a ton of hit + DoT

As far as I can tell, outside of maybe specific ascendancies, the only source of Electrocute buildup is the Electrocute support

Cause on one hand energy shields could stack uber high but you cant use flasks to regen...

No, that's my point. Electrocute exists and there are passive nodes to boost it, but so far as I can tell there is only one way to add Electrocution Buildup to any skill, and that's the Electrocute support

somebody help me understand something - i feel like there is much less flexibility in terms of what weapons (and therefore skills) to use with a certain class, especially something that would seemingly correlate with their ascendancy.
for example, the ranger obv. focuses on projectiles, dots and crits.
yet there is a bow that deals exclusively(?) chaos damage, which makes you think "huh. chaos ranger would be sick" yet most chaos attributes are WAY further in the upper parts of the attribute tree, so far that it doesn't seem feasible until the very late stages of the game
Monk has lots of chaos-related attributes with acolyte ascendancy, hinting at him using chaos-spells but any spell attributes are again further away, much further than the level at which you get your initial ascendancy points...
am i missing something here? are we supposed to pick our ascendancy just so we can make use of it at like level 60+?

generally ailments build up much slower for a bit after they have fully procced. is that what's happening?

the mroe you freeze a enemy the harder it gets to freeze them again.
not sure if cold snap has a hidden modifier for that.
havent payed attention to snap specifically, but the second freeze is noticably harder then the first.
do leveling cast on freeze matter?
yeah there's noticeably harder, but then there's "no freeze buildup progress bar at all" which is what I have
Im a level 40 infernalist maining chaos dmg. Look st the skill tree i posted. Its do-able, but there are more efficient (and arguably upfront more damaging) setups
We dont run chaos for fun, we do it for the game

yes but way easier access compared to other classes that have chaos-incentives, which is what my trouble lies in
the only thing I've changed is putting cold snap on cast on freeze instead of manual casting, but I've since tested it by turning off cast on freeze and it's still messed up

I think you're misunderstanding my question or you don't know that monsters can have different levels asscioated with them. I'm using a level 12 (including global gem modifiers from equipment), but if I'm looking on poe2db, level 12 skeleton arsonists have way way lower hp than I woudl expect, even after calculating for % increased life. Therefore, minions are summoned at a higher level than just gem level
it's not all of them, it's pretty random but it seems like every rare and unique at the very least, along with a random but noticeable handful of white and blue mobs

my autobomber srs was working fine until i applied more gem slots in flame wall. now when my cast on minion death procs flame wall, said flame wall doesn't summon srs

- yes. I showed you the gem states level modifiers. What it wont show is whether you have passives or items that modify winion stats, just the base stat.
you should use CoMD with the energy gain support and Flamewall

Preloads exist. They get updated. Before deploying on prod you deploy on dev and have a preload for ppl to download. Sometimes they want them encrypted (think cyberpunk2077s gaffe), other times not

okay finally, so here's a visualization of my issue -
in the first image, i tagged attributes that boost Chaos spells/damage
in the second image, i tagged attributes that boost spells
now, since you (mostly?) need spells to do chaos damage except in niche circumstances, you would think that with an ascendancy that relies on chaos, and with a good amount of chaos attributes, you would have attributes that boost those very spells which deal chaos damage.
yet as you can see in the 2nd image, there are very little spell-benefitting attributes in the general region where those chaos-attributes are. which means you have a lot of attribute-travelling to do which means either a) you run a "conventional" levelling build and then spend a fuckton of gold on respeccing, or b) you bite the bullet and run a lot of +5 to any attribute nodes until you deal mediocre chaos-spell damage since there are not a lot of spell-boosting attributes
in essence, it seems very counter intuitive to have chaos-attributes but very little spell-attributes for an ascendancy that is entirely based around chaos
This is how stale datamining works, bc when they change to prod different files will be used. If you had client-side for winion health the entire time, you could just lie and say your winion had over 9000 hp and 100% resistance, right?

It's even worse since they removed generic dot scaling
In that case, how do clients and servers get desynced? If the client is simply recieving information and not acting upon it (other than to display an image) then how can the game possible become desynced from what the server is calculating? The answer is that it would not be able to, and that there IS some calculations done on your pc. Therefore, the data has to exist with which to make that calculation.
not really since Witch for example has much easier access to chaos AND spell attributes making her a very reasonable user of chaos abilities, without chaos-focused ascendancies where as the monk with his acolyte ascendancy which is entirely around chaos has very little of such attributes to access, does that make sense?
So attacks with any crossbow ammo are tied to the same keybind, do socketed support gems for the crossbow shot stack with other gems on the ammo?

Witch has one extra cluster of chaos damage on her start and otherwise you still have the exact same travel problem
If you don't believe me, feel free to look up information on how this actually works, there is absolutely data sent to you that is essentially 'what actually happened' to prevent you from just doing whatever you wanted, but the game is also running it's own calculations on your pc, it's just that the server doesn't just blindly act on the data that you send back.

You just have a side benefit of generic damage additive on anything you do
just to add my 2 cents. branching out of the general class gamplay always comes with the cost of long travel.
I planned on PoE2DB and was able to get 334% chaos dmg from the tree and I think 134% Spelldmg
aftert that still had some points to spare
